Unable to use Acrobat 7.0 in Firefox

I use Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard Edition. I'd like to be able to use Firefox 3.6.6 (the current version) as my browser,
but it will not download PDFs (I've tried). Apparently it needs an add-on/plug-in from Adobe to do this. Does anyone know if one is available for Acrobat 7.0 to use with Firefox?
IE will download PDFs using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Browser Control, which works fine. But I'd like to use Firefox as my
default browser.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't think Reader 6 will help.
Adobe Reader / Acrobat releases are "sync'd".
While the TechNote names Acrobat releases, you could transcribe these to "Reader".

  • Why am I unable to use anything when I open Firefox?

I've been having this problem since I installed the beta. When I open up Firefox, the screen immediately freezes. Nothing is able to function: the url bar, my home page, the menu bar, NOTHING. I've even tried reinstalling the beta twice (beta 4.9 and 4.11), but nothing seems to work.
To say the least, I'm disappointed, but it would be extremely appreciated if i could get a solution to this conundrum.

I have a pretty similar problem.
However, I've found that it only affects search engines. I'm guessing you have one of those as your home page.
You could try saving an internet page using another browser, then opening it in Firefox. If it's the same problem I'm having, the browser should work as long as it doesn't go on the google domain or other search engines.

  • I am unable to use Yahoo chat since updating Firefox. My online contact pops up but when I try to click on it I get a circle with a line through it.

I have been using Yahoo chat for a few years. It stopped working last week and the only change was that my husband updated to the latest version of Firefox. I was wondering if I could disable that version so that I could resume my Yahoo chat.

    Known issue, See:

this issue maybe fixed in beta/nightly release

The akamai servers are used by a lot of web servers to store large files (e.g. images and media files)
A domain with fbstatic in it is likely a domain that is used by Facebook (fb), so you may have other problems if you stay on such a web page or get redirected
If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like <i>Adblock Plus</i> or <i>NoScript</i> or <i>Flash Block</i> that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Why would the Java Plugin not work in Firefox 5 on Mac SnowLeopard? I have the most recent version but am unable to use any Java features on Firefox 5. Firefox 3.6 works with the same Java but 5 will not.

Most recent version of Java and firefox. Java Applications will start to load but end up in an infinite loading loop.

Well, it's what I did to get my Java working in Firefox 4. I installed both binaries into my Library/Internet Plug-ins folder. The version was newer that what was previously installed (newer version is 0.9.7.5). It solved the Java problems I was having. My inital problem was that Java would not initiate and no applets would run in Firefox version 4 which I just installed a few days ago.
I know the readme.txt. says it is not compatible with version 4, but the release date on 0.9.7.5 is after the release date of Firefox 4 and so that was I tried it. I figure there was nothing to lose as at worst it woud update my two plug-in files. Nothing was going to be changed otherwise. If you try it, it might work.

  • Unable to use Acrobat 8 as printer in windows 7 x64

I recently upgrade from windows vista to 7.  Then I download all the Adobe patches up to 8.1.7.  Now, I cannot use PDF as printer when I am on a website or in other programs such as QB.

You may be able to print to file with the Adobe PDF printer (it is a PS printer). Then you can either try to locate the file in a watch folder for Distiller to watch or simply open the file in Distiller to complete the conversion. I have not heard back from users with AA8 about how well this will work, but it is probably the only way you are going to be successful. The use of the watched folder is probably as automatic as the process can be done with AA8. I do not have Win 7 and can not test the options out. If you get something to work, please report back with the AA version (AA 8.1.7) and what works and does not work. It will be useful for trying to help others.

  • Can't use the "send by e-mail" button on forms created in Acrobat Pro 9 with Firefox

I created a form in Acrobat Pro 9.5.2 with a "send by e-mail" button as usual (not using LiveCycle Designer). Since a few months, users cannot send forms using that button USING FIREFOX works fine in Explorer. I've been creating and using those forms since 2 years whitout any problems but now this is A BIG PROBLEM for our office as all our reservation forms uses this technology.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. create a form using Acrobat Pro. add an action button " send a form". send the Entire PDF form not just FDF. go in advance tool to give all rights to end-users (in French it's "étendre les fonctions d'adobe reader" I think it’s enable the usage rights for Reader ion English.)
2.publishing the form on my website (or send by e-mail to someone who use reader)
    3. filling the form
    Results:
when the user fill the form he can't send it by e-mail using the button. Nothing happens when hitting that button. It is not possible to save the document as well. Nothing can be done, not even printing or saving it. I've tried almost all browsers I know and nothing works.
    Expected results:
the form should be send by e-mail (as an attachment in general) like before. please help me! this is really important, our office have a lot of calls and we are just 2 people here (non-profit organization). should we buy Acrobat Pro X ?
I can send you the form, my e-mail is rgelinas at canadianclub-montreal dot ca
    thanks all!

When your customers opened the PDF form (which was as an email attachment) on iPads, it is highly likely that Apple Mail (not Adobe Reader for iOS) was displaying the preview of the PDF form.   Please note that Apple products on iPad/iPhone (e.g. Apple Mail, iBooks, Safari) do not render field contents or annotations (sticky notes, highlight, underline, strikeout, freehand drawing, etc.) in PDF documents.
The Mail sections of the following FAQ documents describe how to open PDF attachments in Adobe Reader for iOS.
For iPad, see How to get PDF documents into Adobe Reader for iOS (iPad on iOS 7 version)
For iPhone, see How to open PDF documents in Adobe Reader for iOS (iPhone on iOS 7 version)

  • Unable to use all the feature of my email service (Juno on the web) like; font size/color, bolding, italics, highlighting etc why? Those features work through Internet Explorer but not Firefox.

When I go to my Juno on the web through Firefox, I am unable to use the tool features such as:
    Font size / Color
    Bolding
    Italics
    Bullets
    Highlighting
just to name a few. Yet when I bring it up through Internet Explorer these features work, plus the way Firefox reads my Juno the tabs are distorted (the page is not formatted correctly, I contacted Juno they said I should contact my modem company AT& T they said no so you are my last resort.. Please help resolve my issue, THANK YOU in advance for assisting with this matter.

It is up to Juno to enable Midas, the Rich Text Editor which is built into Firefox, with one little line of code on every web page that has RTE for IE. There's nothing that you can do to turn that feature on your self, it has to be coded on each web page that has Rich Text Editing.
    http://www.mozilla.org/editor/midas-spec.html <br />
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Midas
Their ignorance probably lies with their staff programmers only knowing how to do it for IE ''(their training and certificates are probably from the Microsoft cabal)'', and not realizing that Gecko and WebKit apps each have their own Rich Text Editor's, which require their own small line of code to enable those Editor's.

I am trying to convert a PDF to a Word document using Acrobat Pro 9 but am unable to find "Content to edit" under tools.  Do I need a newer version?

Acrobat 9 Pro (not Standard) can export ("convert") PDF to Word, RTF, or other text formats.
    Click-path:  File - Export
    Take your pick.
With install of Acrobat 9 the Help PDF is installed also.
From the this PDF's Bookmarks expand Chapter 5's bookmark and select "Convert PDFs to Word".

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, moved it to a new computer, reregistered, and am still unable to use any of the edit capabilities. Help?

We always like to know what solutions work. The other options that would cause problems include:
    1. the file is either secured or a PDF/A
    2. you need to update Acrobat (Help>Updates)
