Uninstall rolls-back

PSE 9 crashes when entering the editor, returning a note about 'error 1 - need to re-install PSE 9' which unfortunately I can't do because it rolls-back the attempt to uninstall. There must be something blocking the uninstall required before it will re-install the product. Still trying some ideas like installing on another drive on the computer, but to no avail.

If Run as Administrator doesn't work here are Adobes' instructions for manually removing PSE9:

  • How do I Uninstall Adobe PSE9?  All I get is an error message, "Error 1316.  The specified account already exists".  Then the Unistaller rolls back and the program just sits there, partially uninstalled and unusable.

I have upgraded to PSE13 and want to unistall PSE9.  When I try to do this all I get is an error message, "Error 1316.  The specified account already exists".  Then the uninstaller rolls back and I am left with a partially uninstalled version that is unusable.  I tried to reinstall the software from the original PSE9 disk but all it tries to do is uninstall the version already on my computer, and this then does the same thing as noted above. How do I completely uninstall PSE9?

  • Uninstall or rather, roll back from Maverick

just installed Maverick but didn't think to check that the plug-ins that I use for work, are not ready to support so I've lost them... Question is, how do I roll back to Mountain Lion or earlier... Erasing the drive is not an option so please avoid suggesting this.
Guessing it's time to go back to school again as this one caught me way off guard and feel a little bummed. Chances are that the plug-in that I need to continue working, will be available soon as the guys at Enfocus are pretty cool like that but still feel that an OS X should be beta'd to such providers so as to allow them to have an upgrade to their products in the wings... Would be a much better world in my opinion... First time this has happened  by the way and has left me answering the question as to what the **** is going on with Apple these days... Seems to me that it's only a matter of time before Apple become the thing that I hate most of all... The equivalent of a bad PC!
Cheers in advance by the way.
    Brian (huhhuh77)

    Thanks Carolyn
Looks like it's going to be a long winded affair and probably best left for the weekend. Still kicking myself for upgrading... Just love free stuff and hit the go button. My plug in provider won't have anything in the way of a compatible application until at least January so I'll have to take the plunge.
    Wish me luck!

  • Apple Mobile Device Service installation rolls back

    Hey there,
I've been having problems installing iTunes 9 or even 8 on my computer. While running the iTunes setup, part of the installation rolls back and when I launch iTunes after that, I get the message saying that
"This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again."
However, the installation doesn't work no matter how many times i reinstall it. I've fully uninstalled everything related to apple and used the microsoft's utility to check if they were properly uninstalled before reinstalling itunes, but I still got the same message.
I found out that Apple Mobile Device Service was not installed and that was the problem. When i extracted AppleMobileDeviceService.msi from the iTunes installer and ran it, it rolled back too. So I used the /l*v command to create an installation log and this is the error.

I have recently been fighting my system to get itunes to recognise my iphone and i ran into a similar problem.
I couldnt uninstall the old version of apple mobile device support, and installing the new itunes over the top did not seem to help either.
But i found a work around.
Try opening the itunes.exe install package with winrar. (www.winrar.com, its a free program) and then extracting only the applemobiledevicesupport.exe file.
Reboot your system, run that file and then reboot again.
    It should work.
If it doesnt, then good luck to you :P

  • How do I roll-back to the previous version of Firefox? An auto update occurred and now one of the programs used at the office (ACT! v6.0 SwiftMail) won't run with the browser.

The office I work in uses a very old version of ACT!, an accounting package. This package has a component called SwiftPage, an antiquated email system that enables us to email from the ACT DB. SwiftPage runs via the web browser.
Firefox just did an auto update (that I will have to find out how to turn off) and now SwiftPage won't run as it is not compatible.
Can I "roll-back" my version of Firefox or do I have to uninstall and try to re-install an older version?
    HELP!

Try loading and using the add-on from this link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
Many add-ons do in fact work if you force them to run. The procedure to roll-back is given in this article: [[installing previous versions of firefox]]
Unfortunately the official Firefox policy is that you downgrade to 3.6 which is supported for a while longer, and not the now unsupported Firefox 4. If after installing and running the ''add-on compatibility reporter'' you still have problems there are ways around the official policy.
I think it is absurd that Firefox 4 may be used by tens of millions of users one day and a few days later those that upgrade to Firefox 5 should be not only told not to use a now unsupported browser, if they need to revert due to problems, but are actually obstructed in attempts to do so. • Roll back to itunes 10.7 from itunes 11

Recently my iMac updated to iTunes 11 automatically as part of its update process. I find that I hate this new version of iTunes and so I tried to roll back to the previous version (10.7 in my case). I figured out how to uninstall / delete iTunes 11, I downloaded the previous version from apple.com and ran the installer. I restored my previous iTunes Library file and openned iTunes. All my playlists, play counts, etc are there appropriately and everything looks good at first glance. However, my iPod and iPad can no longer sync and iTunes is telling me to restore them both to factory settings which I'd rather not do. I also can no longer connect to my iTunes library via my local area network from my Windows based machines (haven't been able to try from another Mac, yet). Any ideas on what I did wrong and more importantly how to fix these annoying problems? Thanks!

Thanks. This may work for the iPod and iPad although I'm not terribly interested in reorganizing all the apps and data on both devices unless absolutely necessary. Also, this does not address the problem of not being able to access the library over the LAN from other computers running iTunes.

  • Apple Mobile Device Service won't install, "rolling back action"..

I reformatted my Windows Vista Home Premium (Service Pack 2 32-bit) and reinstalled iTunes. For some reason, my iPod Touch 3G wouldn't sync so I decided to uninstall then reinstall everything. When I reinstalled, however, AMDS was missing, and during a few more installations, I saw "rolling back action".
So I dug around on here and Google and tried installing AMDS seperately (extracting iTunesSetup.exe). But it's not working and it's been taking me quite a while. Could anyone help me fix this issue?
Add: I tried doing basic things such as saving the exe file instead of running, Running as Admin, rebooting.. I also tried sfc /scannow and it successfully repaired all files.

  • Can I roll back from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8?

I have a surface Pro that I use for testing. I installed the 8.1 update. Unfortunately I wasn't paying full attention when it came to the point of asking if I wanted to save my personal files or nothing. I didn't notice that there wasn't a choice to save"everything
    (programs)."
There's still the folder Windows.old on the C: drive and I can see all of my Program files there. My original docs are fine. I can't seem to figure out how to roll back to the original Windows 8. I tried running the 8.1 installer and system restore
    but no joy.
Any suggestions on how to get back to Windows 8 or to bring my programs back? It's not the end of the world but just a PIA to have to reinstall all of my apps on the Surface. Thanks.

    Hi,
Please be aware that programs should be reinstalled from their installers. It will install the necessary runtime files to run properly on your operating system.
We can retrieve files from Windows.old folder:
How to retrieve files from the Windows.old folder
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/restore-files-upgrade-windows-old
If you would like to get back to Windows 8, we cannot uninstall or restore directly.
For preinstalled Windows 8, you can try to restore factory settings to get it back.
    Hope these could be helpful.

  • Acrobat Pro 10 will not install keeps rolling back

I am attempting to install Adobe Acrobat X on a Windows 7 64 Bit machine, it will not install, gets all the way to the end and then just starts rolling back says the installation was interrupted and that no changes were made to the system.
I ran the msi from the command line with verbose logging on to see if I could figure out where it fails but couldn't find the error (towards the end it lists many errors but it seems to just be a list of possible errors, not sure but I definately have admin right and ran the msi as an admin so at least those two don't make sense).
I don't understand why its not installing but I'm really ticked its not at least telling me why its not installing. I had adobe reader and flash on the computer and I was afraid they might be newer versions than just straight Pro X so I uninstalled everything adobe on the computer and it still won't install the Pro X.
Can someone take a look at my log file and see if they can tell what I'm doing wrong? It would be very appreciated.
    Thanks, SW.

One thought. Have you tried downloading the updates (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows) and installing directly, rather than doing updates through the help menu?

  • Can you roll back the iMovie 9.0.6 update as it has trashed iMovie for me?

Since the auto update of iMovie to 9.0.6 I cannot open iMovie and more - it just crashes every time trying to import the projects.  I either need to KILL all old projects or roll back iMovie so that it is usable!!!
I found the answer at https://discussions.apple.com/message/18684126#18684126 once I placed the question!
    Thanks all

There's a workaround ..   delete the currently installed iMovie app. Then reinstalling will give you iMove 9.0.6.
Use this free utiilty to uninstall iMovie >  Download AppCleaner for Mac
Once it's uninstalled, you can re download iMovie for free using the same Apple ID it was originally purchased from.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.

  • MBAM 1.0 will not unistall (keeps rolling back)

    Hello,
I am trying to update MBAM 1.0  to 2.0 but i am unable to uninstall. It will go though the motions of uninstalling but then it rolls back without any errors. Does anyone have any thoughts on how i can fix this issue without losing any data? I am running
    Windows 2008 R2
    Brian Gallagher

Check the issue in the log file created in the temp folder.
You should un-install MBAM 1.0 by running the MBAM 1.0 installer. Make sure each and every components of MBAM 1.0 remains intact and go in a sequenced manner. Only un-install the MBAM Administration Server.

How do I roll-back to an older/earlier version of Acrobat Standard?  I want to undo the Version 9.5.0 update and revert back to Standard Version 9.4.7 or older.

No deal. You'd have to uninstall Acrobat fully, then reinstall it, obviously only applying the updates manually.
