UNIX user with Oracle software group settings

I am seeking help on this issue.
When I installed Oracle 10g on Solaris 9 sparc box, I created user oracle and assigned oracle user to primary group Oinstall and second group dba. Then installation went successful. After that, I created another user ccmm and assigned ccmm to dba group. Then I created some UNIX scripts and SQL scripts stored on system. When I log into server as ccmm user and tried to connect to Oracle database, it failed. If I log in as oracle user and tried to connect to Oracle database, everything runs fine. My purpose is to log in as ccmm user and connect to Oracle database or start Oracle utilities from there. So where is the problem for ccmm user settings? How can I make ccmm user as Oracle database user on UNIX machine? Thanks in advance.

Not sure if I quite understand what you're looking to do, but have you added the 'ccmm' user to the 'oinstall' group?
vi /etc/group
oinstall::101:ccmm
Don't know if that helps ya or not.

  • Authenticating Unix users with LEAP

Scenario : WLAN (AP350 V11.21) with LEAP authentication against an ACS V3.0 server (on W2K). Pre-existing Unix users with traditional Unix-crypted passwords. Usernames with their associated encrypted passwords are successfully imported on ACS database with the csutil utility.
Authorization fails because LEAP uses a derivative of CHAP/MS-CHAP and it needs the plain password on the ACS side.
WLANs are increasingly used on places like educational campuses where Unix is widely deployed. Has anyone found a solution to authenticate Unix users with LEAP?
    Thanks in advance

I know it's It's not supported yet. When PEAP is added to Aironet and ACS, this problem will go away. I believe that is happening in ACS 3.1 and some future version of the Aironet software.
An ugly workaround would be to setup User Changeable Passwords. You'd inform people with UNIX accounts that they have an ACS account created, but that wireless will not work for them until they use a LAN-based system to log in and change their ACS password. You could give them the option of using the same password, of course.

  • Node connectivity,user existence:oracle and group existence:oinstall fail

    hi all
i am trying to install Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11g R2 on Oracle Linux Enterprise edition
but while installing the following 3 errors are displaying.
    1. node connectivity,
    2. user existence:oracle
    3. group existence:oinstall fail.
plz can anyone help me out how to resolve the above error?

    1. check connectivity to ALL nodes is OK, test ping, test ssh (should be passwordless) ,etc
    2. check if the software owner is consistent across all nodes, check the owner id
    3. check if the software group is consistent across all nodes, check the group id too
    Cheers

  • Implementing a business process with Oracle software

    Hello Oracle community,
I'm new to Oracle software and would like to know which tools from Oracle I need when I want to implement a WSDL based business process. All ressources I would like to access within the scope of the process are described with WSDL and I would like to model the whole process with Oracle software.
I guess that I'll need at least the JDeveloper Suite so the post is hopefully not completely off-topic in this forum.
    In particular the questions are:
    - Which Oracle Tool can model a business process (and can handle WSDL)
    - Which Oracle Tool can implement the technical aspect of a business process (might be the same tool)
    - Which Oracle Tool (Oracle 9iAS I guess) will I need to deploy & run the finished business process
    - And the last question: does Oracle support BPEL?
I need this informationen for my studies at my university. I hope that someone can point me in the right direction.

Unfortunately the recently announced BPEL (Business Process Execution Language) Designer is available as an IBM Eclipse Plugin, so yes you need to be running the Eclipse IDE to be able to use the BPEL on top of Oracle Application Server (OC4J).
A Jdeveloper plugin for BPEL I guess would be available sometime next year ?

  • SCCM 2012 Report that shows the users with specific software installed

    Hi,
Is there a report in SCCM 2012 that shows the users with specific software installed? The report should show username, machine name and the software name. I am looking for a report that shows the users with the following softwares installed:
    1. Adobe(all versions)
    2. Photoshop(all versions)
    3. MS Project(all versions)
    4. MS Vision(all versions)
    Regards, Lorin Davis

Take a look at the Asset Intelligence reports in the software section. You may get a list of computers with a product installed, and you might have to use that list to find the primary users based on user device affinity.

    Hi,
currently our databasese are on AIX, but we plan to purchase new sever of unix except IBM.so colud you please tell en which unix flavor is more compatible with oracle sun solaris or HP unix and we also need list of SAN configuration. thanks a lot in advacne.

    Hello,
In our firm we use HP-UX Itanium so, I can tell you that we experienced several bugs with this platform.
Not Oracle bug but hardware and OS bugs.
About the hardware bug, I was not able to patch the database (From 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4) I got an ORA-07445.
After calling Oracle support they quickly answered that I have to change the CPU.
And they were right. One CPU was wrong. The problem was solved after changing it.
The exact error was the following:
ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [pxnmove()+33] [SIGSEGV] [Address not mapped to object] [0x97FFFFFFBF3D2EF0] [] []You can have more detail on the Note ID 398526.1 of Metalink.
About the OS bug. It was about de C compiler of HP-UX Itanium.
This issue was so well known that from 10.2.0.3 Oracle delivers pre-compiled module.
You'll find more detail on the Note 386727.1 from Metalink.

  • Using Unix tools with Oracle on Windows

I currently have an Oracle database installed on Windows, but would like to use Unix scripting tools and commands when connecting with my database.
Can anyone advise a good way to configure my system so that I can connect to my database from a Unix-like system?
    Thanks in advance!

If getting a unix like system installed is not feasible (or is not an option), use this:
    http://cygwin.com/
    http://www.cygwin.com/mirrors.html
This is not exactly like running unix tools against the Oracle db, but allows you access to unix type shell for almost all of your unix shell scripting needs.

  • Different users with different Software installed

    Hi there,
As I am rebuilding my computer and recovering my user through Time Machine, I suddenly thought about creating two separate users on my machine:
1.- Me: for my day to day usage.
2.- Developer: an account specifically targeted to install apps and/or test stuff.
In the second one I would like to be able to install apps I do not want accessible in the first and viceversa (I literally want to keep them perfectly separated so, in the case I want to rebuild my computer again, I can make a "clean restore" of user 1 while starting from scratch with user 2 to keep installing software and other testing situations.
    The questions are:
    A) Is this possible?
    B) if so, how?
    Thanks in advance

    Thank you CT :-))
I do believe that would be a very feasible workaround. My fear (or my questions) goes into the following direction:
    a) by doing so, are you keeping anything outside of that folder potentially affecting other programs (supposely, uninstalling apps in MacOS is clean, but there are so many apps to "completely uninstall applications" that I wonder if that is true).
    b) I am looking for a programmatic solution (your solution definitely seems to be feasible, but I was looking for a system option or similar to make clear split among users within the same computer).
Thank you very much in any case :-))
    Jose.

  • Very Urgent (Unique user Id scenario with Oracle LDAP and SSO)

    Unique user Id scenario.
Our oracle LDAP repository is setup for customers to login from different companies. We have a requirement to integrate Oracle LDAP users with Oracle 9iAS portal 3.0.9 Single Sign On. I have two userid with same name on the LDAP from different company. For example userid jsmith from company A and jsmith from company B. Both userid do not exist on Portal Login Server. However, both userids will be created automatically in Login server when LDAP and Portal synchronize user list.
    1. How oracle portal will handle such scenario when portal requires unique userid?
    2. Can I customize portal login screen? For example when they login they can provide userid, passwd and domain name. Where domain name could be company name.
Let me know if you need more information. Feel free to send direct e-mail also.

Let me know if you need more information. Feel free to send direct e-mail also. The scenario you describe is one addressed by Oracle9iAS Portal Release 2's capability to support multi-company hosting. In that scenario, each company has a separate branch of users represented in the directory information tree, as you describe. In this case, both users may have cn=jsmith, but the rest of the DN provides the distinguishing domain, e.g., cn=jsmith,dc=oracle,dc=com and cn=jsmith,dc=microsoft,dc=com.
Version 3.0.9 also supported multi-company hosting, but it was only an internally used feature and one leveraged by a few early adopters. http://portal.oracle.com is one of our hosted examples of multi-company hosting on 3.0.9.
In 'hosting' mode, the login screen displays a third entry field, as you describe, allowing the company name to be specified.
For a supportable configuration, you should use Oracle9iAS Release 2 if you want to employ hosting mode. However, if you need some solution in 3.0.9, you can probably achieve something acceptable by making a slight modification to ssoxoid.pkb. I'm not entirely sure about this, because I'd have to dig into the code (which should be unwrapped, for customization such as this), but you could have users enter their names like 'jsmith@oracle' or 'jsmith@microsoft'. Then, within the ssoxldap.pkb authenticate_user function, you'd need to have the company name added to the base search base before doing the search. Then, once authenticated, the SSO server and Portal would create shadow entries which are unique 'jsmith@oracle', 'jsmith@microsoft'.
Like I say, I'm not sure if the structure of the ssoxldap.pkb file will entirely support this, but that's your best bet until you get Release 2. There will be a 'Multi-Company Hosting Cookbook' provided with Release 2 that will provide the necessary supplemental information to activate hosting mode. You should understand that setting up hosting mode takes a bit more administration than the default single company mode.
If your portal has already been running a while without the @company names then there will also be the issue of getting all the accounts already created moved over to the @company names.

  • Oracle Portal Groups Issue

I have an issue with oracle portal groups and privileges. We currently have approximately 150 groups with
hundreds of users assigned to each group. We have delegated a user in each group as a local administrator.
This user has been put into an in admin group that has create user, edit user and delete user privleges.
The problem I have is that any local administrator can create, edit or delete users in any group which
is not what I want. I'd like to know if groups/users in oracle portal/Oracle Internet Directory can be
restricted so they can only create, edit or delete users in their defualt groups only (assigned groups).
I have tried and cannot seem to find a way. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

User management is delegated to the Oracle Internet Directory server through the oiddas application. You may want to ask your question in one of the OiD/SSO forums.
The Oracle White Paper [The Implementation of a Departmental Level User Provisioning Model in Oracle Portal 10g|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/pdf/admin_security_deptmental_level_delegated_admin.pdf] might help as well.

  • How to implement a single user in mutiple AD groups?

    Hi all,
I need your help in achieving the following requirement.
    1. Security should be applied based on a DeptName from DeptTable For example Department Name= A , Department Name =B, Department Name =C.
    2. Also security should be based on Officer Indicator from EmployeeTable= Yes or No.
    3. Employee Salary information is grouped into EmpFacts in presentation folder. Only a few users who belong to the group which has access to the folder, should be able to see this folder when they login.
(DeptAOfficerYesEmpFactYesSuper. All the groups which has EmpFactYes are given permissions to EmpFact Folder in presentation Folder)
    4. On top of these all the users are classified into Mega and Super users. Mega users should have read only access to dashboards and Super users should be able to edit the dashboards. ( All the groups which are classified as Super are given access to "Edit Dashboard" in Presentation Catalog )
NOTE: As we are deploying our rpd in the shared environment we are not supposed to use SESSION VARIABLES.
TO achieve the above requirement we have created AD groups such that DeptAOfficerYesEmpFactYesSuper , DeptAOfficerNoEmpFactNoSuper and so on. By this method all the permutation and combinations will result in AD groups.
We know that this approach will lead to severe maintenance issues and hence looking for other alternatives.
We are now planning to have only DeptA, DeptB, DeptC groups and use them in conjunction with three other groups ( Officer, EmpFact, Super).
Can we add a single user in all these user groups ?
Kindly let me know if you need any clairty on this.
    Your help is highly appreciated.

Yes and no..meaning a user with just 1 group assigned will retrieve less data then a user with multiple groups assigned, so yes, more data to select will affecct your performace (a bit), but no, the use of multiple security groups by itself won't affect performance..
The use of multiple security groups will reflect in the use of an IN or a subquery in your logical query, OBI will determine the best way in each case and your database (and statistics) will determine the best physical query and therefore query performance.

  • How to apply group settings of UDF and UserDefinedValues to all documents ?

I have made many User Defined Fields, category group settings of UDF, and User Defined Values (Formatted search) in a marketing document.
And I want to apply them to all of the marketing documents, that is Sales and Purchase documents,,, all the same.
Is there any way to achieve it?
    Thanks in advance...

    Thanks,,
This thread it not about setting for different users but for different type of documents.
And is there any way to configure the category settings of UDF for document types by SDK coding?

  • How to access oracle with any unix user (like root)?

I installed Oracle 10g on Redhat Enterprise Linux 3.
I created one oracle user, and installed oracle in oracle users home directory. In oracle user I can access oracle very well. But I can not use oracle with other unix users like root. What kind of permissions I need to set to do so?

You should never try to connect to Oracle as root, but if you want to connect as any other OS user, you will need to run ChangePerm.sh in $ORACLE_HOME/install in order to do this. It may not be present until you upgrade above the base release (like 10.2.0.3).
