Update AcroReader 9 on Unix

Hello.
How can I update Acrobat Reader from version 9 to higher on Unix? It seams there's nono available on Unix anymoare. Does it contain yellow comments stick-ups like on Windows, any new version (if any)?

I do not believe Reader is supported on Unix (outside of the not comparable OS X) platform. I went to the Adobe ftp site. Version 9 is the last available version.

  • Problem with Updating clients with UNIX command

    Hi.
Until this day, I used to update all our 50 client macs by manually logging in as administrator via ARD and choosing Software Update from the apple menu, this works always and I use our own servers SUS so the downloading is really fast. Still, this clearly is time consuming and annoying when you have this many clients. I have now done some search and I know I could do this by sending unix command to clients using ARD. First I had problems with running the command, then I noticed I need to run this as root. Then it "works".
Works, not quite. It starts to run, and I can see all the output. I have tried this with few clients and the results are confusing. The following is an output from one client I send the command "softwareupdate -i -r"

And thats it, it stops there. Few clients completed the task, but the output says that they skipped the installation of all updates. In the case above, there is some skipping too, and I don't know what it means. Yesterday I left one client to this part where its Registering updated components.... , and today when I came in, it's still there, and the task is still running. When I update the clients with the Software Update from apple menu, it takes usually 10 minutes max to complete the whole process, download and install. After I restarted the same client and ran the manual Software Update from apple menu, it shows the same updates, it didn't do anything???
Am I doing something wrong with the command?

I am having the same issue. I send the unix command to some test clients to install all updates. The process never finishes and stays at "Registering updated companents....". (See screen shot)
I have manually restarted some of the clients after waiting a very long time. All updates seem to have been installed. I am wondering why the task hangs at this point. I want to be able to ran ASU with this Unix method on the 450+ macs that I manage at work, but it scares me that the task never seems to finish.

  • Acroread 9.3.2 unstable under Fedora 13

    I hope Adobe reads this.
Acroread has been showing some strange and annoying problems since I started using Fedora 13. I have been using Fedora since core 6 and I have never encountered such problems before. I used to install a fresh version manually rather than using the one in the Adobe repo, but since F11 I yum install / update Acroread.
    The problems:
    - maximising the window will maximise the window but leave the body at the same size it was, adding a solid grey below and right of the body to fill up the window. Reloading the document (ctrl-R) works sometimes, mostly it doesn't. I can increase the size of the window and body by using the arrows at the window edges.
    - opening another document (in a new tab) often causes the whole window to jump to another screen (I use nVidia twinview setup: one X screen, and so one desktop, divided over two monitors). Whether it does that depends on the document's settings regarding window size, and it happens with 9 out of 10 documents. I can drag the window back to where it came from but upon any reload while that particular document is open it will jump back. It looks like Acroread is desperate to stay on the monitor that I set as 'main'.
    - when multiple tabs are open, the toolbar and tab bar may freeze up. I can no longer click on a tab to go to that document, I have to use the keyboard to go to Window (alt-W) -> the document (use arrow keys). If I wish to close a document, same story: use keyboard to navigate to 'close tab'. Clicking in the document body does not help.
    - when Acroread is open, the Firefox plugin to read PDFs in the browser (Adobe Reader 9.3, Firefox 3.6) often crashes (but not always). Or the other way around...
Hope these issues are solved in an update in the very near future.
    Cheers,
    Nik

As I assumed the problem lies with the faces functionality, I tested what happened if I deleted faces.db and faces.db-journal from the iPhoto Library/Database/apdb folder. After that, I was able to open iPhoto without it crashing immediately. Of course the faces information was lost but I would not have cared. However, the crashes started again at after a few times I had opened iPhoto. It al least allowed me to check my projects and slideshows in order to produce albums or at least pdf documents of the things I wanted to keep.
I finally tried the iPhoto Library Manager and rebuilt my library. Although it produced 3 errors, all related to faces, this apparently did not have any negative consequences. iPhoto runs, I have my fotos and albums and even the faces information in my new library and have not had a crash since.
For anyone with similar problem: I can really recommend this solution because it creates a completely new library so you can get rid of errors in your old onelibrary. The rebuilt library includes all your fotos (including the modified versions) and albums. However, you loose your slideshows and projects.

  • Do we need the X11 update?

    Hi everyone
X11 has just been updated, but I'm not sure from the description (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10464) if we need it or not. It's PPC, but that may just mean there isn't a fat binary ("universal" binary) yet.
Then there's the bit about installing from Panther disks. I'm confused.
Do we need this, or not?
Thanks for any light you can shed on the question.

Thankyou very much for your reply, which I found helpful, because one of the reasons I need X11 is to test our new OpenOffice translation. So your warning is very useful!
I asked about this update on the UNIX forum (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=3473161&tstart=0), and it looks like the only people who need it are those with special display situations. Since I just use my MacBook screen, I can avoid the update, which sounds like a good idea, in view of what you say about OpenOffice.
By the way, have you used NeoOffice?
    http://www.planamesa.com/neojava/en/index.php
It ports OpenOffice to the Mac GUI. I prefer it myself. It's more Mac-like.
I've also been told that OpenOffice itself is working on a Mac port, so we won't need X11 for OpenOffice at all once they manage that.
I hope this is useful for you.

  • Unix Shell Command Monitor broken

    Hi all,
Few days ago I've noticed that I am not able to create/modify Unix Shell Command monitors (two/three states)
    Screenshot: http://fotki.yandex.ru/users/neverregret/view/609083
I am domain admin and Operations Manager admin so I have sufficient privileges automatically.
Could you please advice what is going wrong?
    I'll appreciate any help.
    Thank you

Has the SCOM server been upgraded or patched prior to this starting or were any MPs removed that are associated to the UNIX/Linux functionality?
Check and see if the Microsoft.SystemCenter.CrossPlatform.UI.OM.Integration.Authoring.ShellCommandTemplate.dll file exists under the SCOM directory structure.
You can download the latest UNIX/Linux MPs/agents from here
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29696 and try updating the Microsoft.Unix.ShellCommand.Library.mpb MPs and see if that helps.
    Regards,
    -Steve

  • This morning's Quicktime 7.1.3 update killed my Intel iMac

The update installed this morning and now machine won't boot. Can't even boot into safe mode. Gray screen with apple and spinning progress indicator.
Booted from DVD and repaired permissions and repaired disk, nothing required repair.
Since I can't even get it booted in safe mode, can't delete plists either.
    I'm stuck.

    Same happened to me.
    1. Installed ITUNES 7, Quicktime 7.1.3 and the latest security update.
    2. All went smoothly. including no delay in restart after.
    3. ITUNES 7 updated my library, downloaded cover artwork and works fine.
    4. Now Safari will not launch
    5. Software update will not launch and gives an error report.
    6. When widgets was launched....each one failed one by one generating a failure report for each one. Now all widgets are gone.
    MORE DATA:
    1. Safari and SW UPdate do not launch in multiple user accounts.
    2. Tried trashing the Safari prefernces with no luck
    3. Re-installed Safari from 10.4 disks - no go
    4. Ran all updates using Macaroni (UNIX Matenence, Repair permissions) No go
    5. Booted from Repair DVD and ran Disk utility. Said that it did reapair something on the volume. Still no help with Safari or SW updates (on multiple user accts).
Running out of options short of a System Re-install.
NOTE: I do have a Apple Backup of my system before I upgraded the above SW. I hesistate because not sure of what ITUNES updated.
    Any help??
    Thanks
    Dave

  • Is there a mountain lion update for bash bug

Just saw the ars tecnica security warning:
    http://arstechnica.com/security/2014/09/bug-in-bash-shell-creates-big-security-h ole-on-anything-with-nix-in-it/
    I am running OSX 10.8.5 -
has Apple produced a patch for this version of the OS?

Apple has promised an update for advanced Unix users (the only ones possibly affected are those running OS 10.9.5):
    http://www.imore.com/apple-working-quickly-protect-os-x-against-shellshock-explo it
Advanced users who have OS X machines in a situation where they may be remotely exploited, such as systems administrators with internet-facing OS X servers, can mitigate the issue by recompiling bash with the official patches from GNU until Apple issues its own update:
    https://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/bash/bash-3.2-patches/bash32-052

  • Acrobat 9.1.0 crashes

    Saturday, March 28, 2009 9:16:37 AM PDT
I got the 'updates available' message this morning. I updated AcroRead 9.0 and Acrobat 9.0 standard. After the reboot to finish the
Acrobat 9.1.0 update I got the following error message:
AcroDist.exe - The application or DLL c:\Program Files\adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\AGM.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check
    this against your installation diskette.
Having not installation diskette (for 9.1.1 - I have my 9.0 cd) to check against... I went to add/remove programs, selected Acrobat, Change, Repair. After about 20
+ minutes it finished... I rebooted my workstation. I did not get the previous error and started Acrobat 9.1.0 - when I tried to ope
n a .pdf I created with Acrobat 9.0 I got the following message:
Adobe Acrobat 9.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
The file previews in the 'File/Open' dialogue, but 9.1 crashes on any .pdf!
If I create a new file the editor loads, but as soon as I try to save 9.1 crashes! I have searched Acrobat Forums and the Web and ha
ve found MANY other people with the same issue! What is going on? and when can I expect a fix to be able to use my $300 program again?
    Operating System: Windows XP
Has it ever worked?: 9.1.0 - NO... 9.0 - Yes
Same results with different file?: Yes
Same results with different computer?: Yes
Recent System Hardware or Software change?: Yes
Adobe tech is closed (nice - wish I could take weekends off)... So has anyone found a fix, other than just going back to V9.0 - if that is even possible. From what I have read the un-install doesn't work and doing a system restore does not give me any good vibes...

I guess I am not the only one when it comes to crashed after update to Acrobat 9.1.0.
Major bug so far that i see is I cannot copy simple text from any PDF file after the update. It immediately crashed Acrobat with this:
    AppName: acrobat.exe     AppVer: 9.1.0.163     ModName: saveasrtf.api
    ModVer: 9.1.0.163     Offset: 0000237a
I first noticed it when I tried to copy something from inside Firefox - my browser would just close and ask me to restart...
Repair didn't do any good, just a waste of about 30 minutes of my time. I had to fully uninstall and reinstall 9.0 to figure out what went wrong.
Everything works fine in 9.0 - Nothing works fine in 9.1. Strangely there were no problems in Reader 9.1...
People stay away from upgrading to 9.1!!!

  • Issue with Lockout Duration in Password Policy in OAM

    Hi,
We are facing an issue with the lockout duration configuration in the password policies in the identity manager interface for our OAM setup.
Oracle Access Manager 10g version 10.1.4
User/Policy Store: ADAM Ldap [Microsoft ADAM 2003]
After we lock out a user in our LDAP after 5 wrong attempts, the two attribute values in ADAM get updated to 5:
    oblogintrycount
    badPwdCount
Also I see that "oblockouttime" gets updated with an unix timestamp.
Now, we have set the "Lockout Duration" in the password policy as 1 hour. So, after 1 hour, the user should be unlocked in ADAM.
However, after 1 hour when the user tries to login, he/she gets the error that a wrong password has been entered for the userID.
When we check in ADAM, we see that the value of "oblogintrycount" was indeed reset. However the value of "badPwdCount" did not get reset and is still stuck at 5.
If we reset both these attribute values to 0, the user can login again.
Now, is OAM expected to reset both these attribute values to 0, or does it only reset the oblix attributes?
If it is the latter, is there a way around to resolve this issue? Or are we doing something wrong here?
Please let us know your feedback.
    Thanks!
    Abhishek.

OAM only works with the ob* attributes, and not with badPwdCount attribute of the AD (ADAM). I think for some reason the password and account policies of the AD is being triggerred. Disable the AD password policy and it will be Ok.
Hope this helps. Let us know.

  • How do I identify Mason Framework in Dreamweaver html pages?

I have told that my website has "mason framework" components that will not be compatiable with an update of the Unix servers the site is hosted on. How do I identify the "mason framework" code on the html pages or folder structure on my site? I am unfamiliar with the term and need any help that can be provided in tackling this issue.
Here is a note from the server hosts: The Mason framework will not be part of the migration. If any users are still reliant on Mason, Perl will remain available and ordinary Perl / CGI syntax can be used to support application functionality going forward without leveraging Mason components.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I never heard of it but found this: http://www.masonhq.com/
Looks like a perl based site development framework/toolset. We would need to see the code to determine what it is being used for on your site.

Configuring SAP 4.6x Internet mail Gateway
SAP can be configured to send and receive emails from different sources. This section explains how to integrate SAPOffice with an external emailsystem. Your Internet email must be configured and running prior to this.Email from SAP is forwarded to the users external email system..
You can configure inbound and outbound forwarding. Outbound flow forwardsa SAP message (eg: update termination) via UNIX sendmail to the intended recepient. Inbound accepts a message from sendmail and places it in the users SAPOffice inbox. Many companies prefer to configure outbound only.
    Configuring outbound forwarding

  • Oracle BPM Process Data mart

I am required to create audit reports on BPM workflows.
I am new to thid & need some guidance on configuring BPM Process Data mart. What are the pre-requisites for configuring it & what are the steps to do it.
Also, need some inputs on BAM database. What is the frequency of data upload. Is it data update or insert in BAM.

    Hi,
You might want to check out the Administration and Configuration Guides on http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/index.html.
I suspect you might find the BAM and Data Mart portions of this documentation a bit terse, so I've added the steps below that provides more detail. I wrote this for ALBPM 6.0, but believe it will still work for Oracle BPM 10g. It was created from an earlier ALBPM 5.7 document Support wrote called "ALBPM 5_7 Configuring and Troubleshooting the BAM and DataMart Updater.pdf.
You can define how often you want the contents in both databases updated (actually inserted) and how long you want to persist the contents of the BAM database during the configuration.
Here's the contents of the document:
    1. Introduction
The use of BAM (Business Activity Monitoring) and Data Mart (or Warehouse) information is becoming more and more widespread in today’s BPM project implementations for the obvious benefits they bring to the management and tuning of processes.
BAM is basically composed by a collection of measurements of current processes load and execution times. This gives us an idea of how the business is doing at this moment (in a pseudo real-time fashion).
Data Mart, on the other hand, is a historical view of the processes load and execution times. And this gives us an idea of how the business has developed since the moment the projects have been put in place.
In this document we are not going to describe exhaustively all configuration aspects of the BAM and Data Mart Updater, but rather we will quickly move from one configuration step to another paying more attention to subjects that have presented some difficulties in real-life projects.
    2. Creating the Service Endpoints
The databases for BAM and for Data Mart first have to be defined in the External Resources section of the BPM Process Administrator.
In this following example the service endpoint ‘BAMJ2EEWL’ is being defined. This definition is going to be used later as BAM storage. At this point nothing is created.
Add an External Resource with the name ‘BAMJ2EEWL’ and, as we use Oracle, select the Oracle driver, then click <Next>:
    On the following screen, specify:
    ·     the hostname – here I have used ‘localhost’ as I am just setting this up to work on my laptop
    ·     the port for the Oracle service
    ·     the SID – here I have use Oracle Express so the SID is ‘XE’
    ·     the new user to create / use in Oracle for this database – here I have specified ‘BPMBAM’. This user, and its database, will be created later
    ·     the password for the user
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click <Save>.
In addition to a standard JDBC connection that is going to be used by the Updater Service, a remote JDBC configuration needs to be added as the Engine runs in a WebLogic J2EE container. This Data Source is needed to grant the Engine access over BAM tables thru the J2EE Connection Pool instead of thru a dedicated JDBC. The following is an example of how to set this up.
Add an External Resource with the name ‘BAMremote’ and select the Oracle driver, then click <Next>
    On the following screen, specify:
    ·     the Lookup Name that will be used subsequently in WebLogic - here I have given it the name ‘XAbamDS’
    Then click <Save>.
In the next example the definition ‘DWHJ2EEWL’ is created to be used later as Data Mart storage. If you are not going to use a Data Mart storage you can skip this step.
Add an External Resource with the name ‘DWHJ2EEWL’ and select the Oracle driver, then click <Next>:
    On the following screen, specify:
    ·     the hostname – here I have used ‘localhost’ as I am just setting this up to work on my laptop
    ·     the port for the Oracle service
    ·     the SID – here I have use Oracle Express so the SID is ‘XE’
    ·     the new user to create / use in Oracle for this database – here I have specified ‘BPMDWH’. This user, and its database, will be created later
    ·     the password for the user
    3. Configuring BAM Updater Service
Once the service endpoint has been created the next step is to enable the BAM update, select the service endpoint to be used as BAM storage and configure update frequency and others. Here the “Updater Database Configuration” is the standard JDBC we configured earlier and the “Runtime Database Configuration” is the Remote JDBC as we are using the J2EE Engine.
So, here’s the example of how to set up the BAM Updater service….
Go into ‘Process Monitoring’ and select the ‘BAM’ tab and enter the relevant information (using the names created earlier – use the drop down list to select):
Note that here, to allow me to quickly test BAM reporting, I have set the update frequency to 1 minute. This would not be the production setting.
Once the data is input, click <Save>.
We now have to create the schema and related tables. For this we will open the “Manage Database” page that has appeared at the bottom of the BAM screen (you may have to re-select that Tab) and select to create the database and the data structure. The user required to perform this operation is the DB system administrator:
Text showing the successful creation of the database and data structures should appear.
Once we are done with the schema creation, we can move to the Process Data Mart configuration screen to set up the Common Updater Service parameters. Notice that the service has not been started yet… We will get to that point later.
    4. Configuring Process Data Mart Updater Service
In the case that Data Mart information is not going to be used, the “Enable Automatic Update” checkbox must be left off and the “Runtime Database Configuration” empty for this service. Additionally, the rest of this section can be skipped.
In the case it is going to be used, the detail level, snapshot time and the time of update should be configured; in addition to enabling the updater and choosing the storage configuration. An example is shown below:
Still in ‘Process Monitoring’, select the ‘Process Data Mart’ tab and enter the name created earlier (use the drop down list to select).
Also, un-tick the Generate O3 Cubes (see later notes):
    Then click <Save>.
Once those properties have been configured the database and the data structure have to be created. This is performed at the “Manage Database” page for which the link has appeared at the bottom of the page (as with BAM). Even when this page is identical to the one shown above (for the BAM configuration) it has been opened from the link in the “Process Data Mart” page and this makes it different.
Text showing the successful creation of the database and data structures should appear.
    5. Configuring Common Updater Service Parameters
In the “Process Data Mart” tab of the Process Monitoring section -along with the parameters that are specific to the Data Mart - we will find some parameters that are common to all services. These parameters are:
    • Log directory: location of the log file
    • Messages logged from Data Store Updater: severity level of the Updater logs
    • Language
    • Generate Performance Metrics: enables performance metrics generation
    • Generate Workload Metrics: enables workload metrics generation
    • Generate O3 Cubes: enables O3 Cubes generation
In this document we are not going to describe in detail each parameter. But we will mention a few caveats:
    a. the Log directory must be specified in order for the logs to be generated
    b. the Messages logged from Data Store Updater, which indicates the level
of the logs, should be DEBUG for troubleshooting and WARNING otherwise
    c. Performance and Workload Metrics need to be on for the typical BAM usage and, even when either metric might not be used on the initial project releases, it is recommended to leave them on in case they turn out to be useful in the future
    d. the Generation of O3 Cubes must be off if this service is not used, otherwise the Data Mart Updater service might not work properly .
The only changes required on this screen was to de-select the ‘Generate O3 Cubes’ as shown in the last section.
    6. Set up the WebLogic configuration
We need to set up the JDBC data source specified above, so go to Services / JDBC / Data Sources.
Click on <Lock and Edit> and then <New> to add a New data source.
    Specify:
    ·     the Name – use the name you set up in the Process Administrator
    ·     the JNDI Name – again use the name you set up in the Process Administrator
    ·     the Database Type – Oracle
    ·     use the default Oracle Database Driver
    Then click <Next>
On the next screen, click <Next>
    On the next screen specify:
    ·     the Database Name – this is the SID – for me that is XE
    ·     the Host Name – as I am running on my laptop, I’ve just specified ‘localhost’
    ·     the Database User Name and Password – this is the BAM database user specified in the Process Administrator
    Then click <Next>
On the next screen, you can test the configuration to make sure you have got it right, then click <Next>
On the next screen, select your server as the target server and click <Finish>:
    Finally, click <Activate Changes>.
    7. The Last Step: Starting Up and Shutting Down the Updater Service
ALBPM distribution is different depending on the Operating System. In the case of the Updater Service:
    -     For Unix like Operating Systems the service is started or stopped with the albpmwarehouse.sh shell script. The command in this case is going to look like this:
    $ALBPM_HOME/bin$ ./albpmwarehouse.sh start
    -     For Windows Operating Systems the service is installed or uninstalled as a Windows Service with the albpmwarehouse.bat batch file. The command will look like:
    %ALBPM_HOME%\bin> albpmwarehouse.bat install
After installing the service, it has to be started|stopped from the Microsoft Management Console. Note also that Windows will start automatically the installed service when the computer starts. In either case the location of the script is ALBPM_HOME/bin Where ALBPM_HOME is the ALBPM installation directory. An example will be:
    C:\bea\albpm6.0\j2eewl\bin\albpmwarehouse.bat
    8. Finally: Running BAM dashboards to show it is Working
Now we have finally got the BAM service running, we can run dashboards from within Workspace and see the results:
    9. General BAM and Data Mart Caveats
    a. The basic difference between these two collections of measurements is that BAM keeps track of current processes load and execution times while Data Mart contains a historical view of those same measurements. This is why BAM information is collected frequently (every minute) and cleared out every several hours (or every day) and why Data Mart is updated infrequently (once a day) and grows indefinitely. Moreover, BAM measurements can be though of as a minute-by-minute sequence of Engine Events snapshots, while Data Mart measurements will be a daily sequence of Engine Events snapshots.
    b. BAM and Data Mart table schemas are very similar but they are not the same. Thus, it is important not to use a schema created with the Manage Database for BAM as Data Mart storage or vice-versa. If these schemas are exchanged by mistake, the updater service will run anyway but no data will be added to the tables and there will be errors in the log indicating that the schema is incorrect or that some tables could not be found.
    c. BAM and Data Mart Information and Services are independent from one another. Any of them can be configured and running without the other one. The information is extracted directly from the Engine Database (PPROCINSTEVENT table is the main source of info) for both of them.
    d. So far there has not been a mention of engines, projects or processes in any of the BAM or Data Mart configurations. This is because the metrics of all projects published under the current Process Administrator (or, more precisely, FDI Directory) are going to be collected.
    e. It is also important to note that only activities for which events are generated are going to be measured (and therefore, shown in the metrics). The project default is to generate events only for Interactive activities. This can be changed for any particular activity and for the whole process (where the activity setting, when specified, overrides the process setting). Unfortunately, there is no project setting for events generation so far; thus, remember to edit the level of event generation for every new process that is added to the project.
    f. BAM and Data Mart metrics are usually enriched with Business Variables. These variables are a special type of External Variables. An External Variable is a process variable with the scope of an Instance and whose value is stored on a separate column in the Engine Instances table. This allows the creation of views and filters based on this variable. A Business Variable, then, shares all the properties of an External Variable plus the fact that its value is collected in all BAM and Data Mart measurements (in some cases the value is shown as it is for a particular instance and in others the value is aggregated).
The caveat here is that there is a maximum number of 256 Business Variables per FDI. Therefore, when publishing several projects into a single FDI directory it is recommendable to reuse business variables. This is achieved by mapping similar Business Variables of different projects with a unique real Variable (on the variable mapping performed at publish time).
    g. Configuring the Updater Service Log
In section 5. Configuring Common Updater Service Parameters we have seen that there are two common Updater properties related to logging. These properties are “Log directory” and “Messages logged from Data Store Updater”, and they specify the location and level of these two files:
    - dwupdater.log: which is the log for the Data Mart updater service
    - bam-dwupdater.log: which is the log for the BAM updater service
In addition to these two properties, there is a configuration file called ‘WarehouseService.conf’ that allows us to modify these other properties:
    - wrapper.console.loglevel: level for the updater service log
    - wrapper.logfile.loglevel: level for the updater service log
    - wrapper.java.additional.n: additional argument to the service JVM
    - wrapper.logfile.maxsize: maximum size of the updater service log files
    - wrapper.logfile.maxfiles: maximum number of updater service log files
    - wrapper.logfile: updater service log file name (the default value is dwupdater-service.log)
9.1. Updater Service Log Configuration Caveats
    a. The first three parameters listed above have to be modified when increasing the log level to DEBUG (since the default is WARNING). The loglevel parameters have to be set to DEBUG and a java.additional.n (where n is a consecutive integer to the already used ones) has to be set to –ea to enable asserts, since without this option no DEBUG message is going to be generated.
    b. Of the other arguments, maxfiles might need to be increased to hold a few more days of data when the log level is set to DEBUG (with the default value up to two days are stored).
    c. The updater service has to be stopped, uninstalled, installed and then started for any of these changes to take effect.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan
