Just bought new iPhone and want to copy all my old apps, pics etc from iCloud to new phone
How do I get the phone to the beginning of the start up process?

When updating new iPhone software I have to use a different computer.

When trying to update new iPhone software I have to use my MacBook instead of my iMac. If I use the iMac I can download the software with no problem, but when updating it gets to the point where it's almost done then it just stops. When I use the MacBook I can complete the whole process no problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Any reason why you have not updated to 10.6.4? On your iMac, navigate to ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates and delete any & all .ipsw files you find. There should only be one, but delete all that are listed. You will most likely have to first turn on show all hidden files & folders to see them. Once done, run software update. Make sure iTunes is up to date. Once done, launch disk utility from your utilities folder, select your hard drive, select "Repair Permissions". When finished, re-boot your computer. See if you can update now. There should be NO firewalls or anti-virus running...none.

Trying to update new iPhone 5S from backup. Apps fail to move

iPhone 4 ( Updated OS and did a backup before and after OS update)
Got my new iPhone 5S.
Did a normal startup with new phone and selected to restore from backup that was done above. (iTunes)
Did this with the option of creating new phone and option of just doing the restore.
Tried erasing new phone again and did another backup of old phone.
Did another startup on new phone.
Did another restore.
Same results. Can't get apps to move over. No apps moved at all.
PICS/Contacts/Phone calls/Txt messages. All those moved.
No apps whatsoever. I'm sure I'm just not selecting something.
Any help would be appreciated.

I figured it out.
I didn't have Apps in iTunes at all.
I needed to move apps from phone to iTunes which I finally figured out.
Once I did that I was able to sync the apps to new phone.
instructions on doing this via this chat need to be clearer.
I'm not an Apple super user and I didn't know I needed to move the apps. I thought hitting sync would work. That only works to move apps from iTunes to device. At least that's the way it seems.

Updated new iphone 4s and battery life is poor

Since I upgraded my new iphone 4s the battery life has become really poor. As soon as its unplugged its lost life!

Depending on the settings for your social media apps, your usage can very. If, for example, Facebook is checking the status to often, your battery is more likely to be drained. Same for mail and other push/fetch services.
Sometimes it helps to delete the account and set it up again, there have been cases in which those apps got stuck trying to connect to their servers.
If you restored the phone from the latest backup you made, did you reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for at least 10sec, until the Apple logo came back again?

I have the same trouble with my 3 weeks old iPhone 6+. After update to the last iOS, touch ID doesn't respond anymore.
I delete my fingers print and now I'm unable to set new one.
The Apple Shop of my place in Yogyakarta (Indonesia) says they didn't gave any service for iPhone (!!!) so I contact the Apple Support online who advise me to restore it. I did, but it didn't solve the problem: Touch ID still not responding.
At this point I don't know anymore what to do...

Hi - I have resolved my problem with the iPhone 6, 8.3 IOS update. I went to the local Apple store and they replaced my iPhone with a new one.. I was very lucky that I attempted to do the 8.3 update via iTunes, as this undertakes an automatic back up before attempting to do the new update install. Thus, did not loose any of my information on the iPhone - only lost a day trying to sort out problem, get appointment at Apple store and then update new iPhone. I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version. I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again. I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again. My blue tooth doesn't work either. I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this. When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue. My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!! I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue. Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it. Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

Nope - you cannot restore a backup from a newer iOS version on to a device running an older iOS version. The reverse works, but in your case to use your backup, you must update to iOS 7.0.3 - no other option if you want to use that backup.

Within a wk one of the new iPhones started turning on and of like 10 –15 times a day. Wk 2 it turned off and would not turn on again . It was my sons who was in college at the time so we talked and he took it in to a Verizon store where he was told I need to come in since the account was in my name. He was away from home , Verizon could see on account it was his phone they said it was not abused, they could not even turn it on , they sold me the phone give him another phone maybe even a loaner till he gets another. So now I need to go to store and explain to 3 different people this is my phone and my son has it and I need a new one. what a waste of time after about 2 hrs and talking to different people and yes they said there were notes on his account from other person he had talked to from different store. So I finally walk out with a receipt in hand and being told I would have a new phone in a couple days. As I sat in my vehicle thinking this is stupid I looked at my receipt and noticed it said droid on it so back into Verizon I went. The salesman said that’s what your son has on his account. My son had activated a friends old phone so he has one since VERIZON REFUSED to give him one. Another hr 3 people and yes they can see he had a new iPhone and notes on it from other store. Sometimes sorry just doesn't do it. I was now late for a appointment . Now I walk out and have been told I will get a new iPhone in the mail in about 2 wk Yes 2 wks again I bought it there just give me a new one and you send old one back. I will also get a new droid that I have to send back because they said they cant cancel it . In about 3 days I get the Droid and sent it back Verizon mistake and a waste of my time . After waiting over 2 wks and not receiving a new iPhone back to Verizon I went . I am now bitter at Verizon after doing 20 yrs of business with them. 3 people 1 hr later I was told it got delivered to my post office . I got the tracking num called the post office and they say o yes that was the droid. Go back in to Verizon another hr of explaining I walk out being told I will get a new iPhone in a couple of days, We’ll see . Once again I got the phone in your store just give me a new one . Do you realize how much of my time you have wasted ? do you care? O what is Your Policy ? How many Billion did you make last year ? I am Locked into a new 2 yr contract . Simple process. If an iPhone go to the Apple Store and not Verizon
the phone from Verizon will be a refurbished device and not new unless under the 14 day worry free guarantee

I recently received a new iPhone 5 to replace my old broken iPhone 5 I backed up my old broken iPhone 5 into iCloud I checked to see it was all there, when it came to set up my new iPhone 5 my new iPhone 5 wasn't updated to the latest version my old one had ios8 my new one has ios7 so it gave me the choice to use another back up date which was from a year ago and I used to have another email as my primary for Apple ID and now my new iPhone is setup with my old Apple ID and every time I try to log in it tells me it's incorrect I reset the password but since it's another email it won't let me log on what can I do?

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

ITunes won't find new iPhone and update invalid signature

Trying to restore from iPhone 4 Restore backup to new iPhone 6 (Windows 7) and encountered the following......
When trying to connect the new iPhone 6 to my existing iTunes account, iTunes would not show the device (couldn't find it). Received a popup that stated the phone could not be recognized and an update to 11.4 (12.1....) was required. [[ I found this strange since I just updated and backed up my iPad and old iPhone 4 last night in anticipation of getting the new iPhone 6 today.]]
I tried the update multiple times but it would stall 15 minutes in and give the message "invalid signature" and error out. I looked through many comments on this support sight, read what related help was available through iTunes help, etc, and spent HOURS trying each one (listed below). A combination of a couple of steps finally worked for me so I am sharing this to hopefully save you some time and frustration. MUCH frustration.
Tried but did not resolve..... updated new phone to current 8.1.1 and made sure 'Find My Phone' was turned off.
Tried but did not resolve..... downloaded iTunes manually from within iTunes.
Tried but did not resolve .... downloaded iTunes manually from Apple.com downloads.
Tried but did not resolve..... downloaded Firefox (an alternative browser) and manually downloaded iTunes again from Apple.com.
WARNING: The following resolution will wipeout any previous iTunes settings like views, organization, etc. It will also wipeout any previous setup already done in your new iPhone other than fingerprinting, language and date/time setup. Email accounts, setup preferences, etc, will be wiped. Also, your old phone will no longer work with iTunes - apprently this new software issue will only recognize one phone. Your music, contacts, most apps (I did lose a few), if backed up from your old phone properly before starting this process will 'Restore' to your new phone in the updated iTunes.
Tried and worked..... Closed iTunes. Went to Start on my computer, typed itunes64setup. I had two itunes64setup listed due to the first manual download from Apple and then the one done again via the Firefox browser. I chose the one downloaded from the Firefox browser - not sure it would make a difference. (If you have two listed, Hover your mouse over each and it will give you the times of when they were downloaded). Right click on the itunes64setup and choose 'Run as Administrator'. (You may incur issues with this step if using a work proprietary computer.) Opened iTunes and plugged the iPhone 6 in and it recognized the phone. I was then able to 'Restore' info.
Since I had already tried the manual downloads, I am not sure if they were necessary and maybe running the itunes64setup only would have resolved the issue. If you are addressing the iTunes update iPhone 6 issue and try the itune64setup without the manual downloads, etc, and it works, please update this support entry so others can follow your lead.

What Apple is not telling (WARNING) their faithful users about is that they obviously have software issues for existing users in the 'Windows' world when upgrading to the newer phones and to do so you are going to need to spend some time and effort. This is strike two for me, just coming off the 8.1.0 iPad 2 upgrade debacle Apple put so many of us through. Shame Shame, Apple! It's called Q/A and should be applied to all your users environments and not just those who have everything new in an Apple/Mac only world. There are more of us that don't. Thx!

Step one : Please restart EVERYTHING involved. This means your cable modem / dsl router, Airport Base Station if you have one, your computer, your iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad (2) if applicable. Shut it all down and power it all back up in the appropriate order (modem / router / computer, et cetera)
Step two : Make sure you have the most recent version of all software. Verify you have the latest version of iTunes and the Remote software. Check to make sure the AppleTV has no updates as well.
Step three : Enable Home Sharing on all applicable devices.
Step four : Make sure the AppleTV and the computer are both hooked up to the same network, wireless or otherwise, and make sure if you have a non-Apple router anywhere in the mix it is allowing traffic to flow freely between all the Apple tech. Apple has specific documentation on this. Search the Support site for "Apple TV: TCP and UDP ports and protocols used" and make sure none of those ports are being blocked by the router or any firewall software you may have running, like Zone Alarm.
Step five : Fire up the Remote app on your phone, and let it search for your AppleTV. There should be no passwords required anywhere if the Apple tech is properly talking to one another.
Step six : If all the above still doesn't work, then call in a professional who can get eyes on the equipment and do a proper job of troubleshooting.
