Update to server info duplicate mail messages

I changed the outgoing and the incoming server info.  Did not change the port numbers.  Do I need to do this?  I was able to send and receive but now I have duplicate messages in my in box!  How do I change this?  Am I doing this correct?
thanks

I was having this trouble as well. Yesterday I disabled the MobileMe account in Mail preferences (mac.com is my only email) and duplicate messages have stopped. The sidebar changes back to what I was used to in the last version of OS X (all the mobileme gunk is gone). So far so good.

I recently got a new powerbook and would like to transfer my safari bookmarks, mail messages and address book information over to the new machine. What would be the best way to do this? I'd like to keep the old information on the desktop and simply add the information to the new machine.

Yeah - but the kicker is, I don't want to transfer everything, just the safari bookmarks, the address book information and selected mail folders that are "On My Mac"

When I try to update credit card I get a message that says to contact iTunes support. I'm not able to make purchase unless I use a iTunes card. I would like to be able to use my credit card. I read somewhere that it could be that my account is locked.

If you haven't already done so then you can contact iTunes support via this page and ask them why the message is appearing (these are user-to-user forums) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • E61i/E71 MfE duplicates mail message, unable to de...

Got the following problem, have tried E61i and E71, both with MfE:
When receiving an e-mail from one specific person (professional account), this mail is downloaded to my phone on every synch, duplicating itself, until the original message is removed from the server. But then I'm still unable to remove/delete all duplicated mails from my phone. Duplicates show the red 'deleted' crossbar, but are not removed from the list anymore. Only solution sofar is a complete reset of the phone... No problems with other mail from other person within same organisation. Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Taxipete,
try using RoadSync instead and see if the sync will work -- if not then you've got another error in the solution.
You might want to check for calendar events and mails from Exchange users who have been recently deleted, this can throw both packages off.

  • Duplicate mail messages

can anyone tell me what setting I need to change so that I don't get duplicate duplicate messages - ever since 'mobile me' went live I have been getting every message twice - its not a problem so much as extremely irritating - mind you - a lot better than not getting messages!

I was having this trouble as well. Yesterday I disabled the MobileMe account in Mail preferences (mac.com is my only email) and duplicate messages have stopped. The sidebar changes back to what I was used to in the last version of OS X (all the mobileme gunk is gone). So far so good.

  • Duplicate mail messages and incoming "bounces"

Many of my incoming email messages are duplicate copies, and sometimes people sending me email tell me it bounced, yet I received it. What setting are wrong for this to happen?

Yes, setting the monitor to the default resolution, it does look fine. But for applications like Word, Pages, Preview and many other when you set the display zoom magnification to 100.00 regardless of the screen resolution the text seems normal, but in Mail, there is no screen zoom magnification, and so the higher the screen resolution, the smaller the text in composed and received messages is.

  • Mail message is blank.

Even after the update 10.5.1 some mail messages send by a PC user are completely empty, I thought.
But when I look at the version there is a message. When I dig into the /library/mail/mailboxxes and then look for the messages folder and do a quicklook on the .emlx file the message is shown. Not empty at all. Does anyone have solution?

I don't have a specific reply, but the same sort of problem. E-mail messages sent from someone else with a G5 with Leopard 10.5.1, using a pop e-mail server, come up completely blank! But all my other messages from various other sources, including PCs from the same pop e-mail server are fine. The same person has also tried sending me a message from their machine with their .Mac account and I can see that e-mail just fine.
Also, ALL of my e-mails do not show me the header information. I have to run the mouse over the header area and click on the drop-down arrow that appears to view who has sent the e-mail, and to whom it was addressed!
Can anyone help me with this? I am currently at a loss of how to take care of this!
    Thanks!

Setting up my new MBPro I followed instructions for icloud. Couldn't get any mail service through server so went to "help" and tried following those directions on setting up account. Now my Mail feature will not operate at all. unable to input incoming server info in Mail (just remains the example script). Little color wheel just turns and turns and I have no use of mail software at all. Can't get any new accounts set up.....so far MacBook Pro is worthless for email until I can get this  resolved.

When trying to update my Mail Account Mailbox Behaviours settings, after making the changes when I try to close the settings pane the following messages occur: Invalid Incoming Mail Server The “Incoming Mail Server” field cannot be empty. Hi all,
Mattreichenbach is probably on the right track here with a reset of settings.  I think I've determined the issue has to do with cached account information and inconsistencies for the account name.  This seems to crop up when I've changed my password and it hasn't propagated fully to all the servers, devices, certificates, etc.
Hopefully many here are on their way to restoration of service by now but it's clear that a lot of people are having the same issues.  Very frustrating and definitely something Apple needs to resolve:  incoming mail server field grayed out, incorrect autopopulation of different fields, other unanticipated behaviors.  If you're still having issues, though, here's what worked for me...
First, head to the iCloud preferences pane in System Configuration and choose "Sign Out".  When I did this it prompted me with a number of "are you sure" type questions about retaining information on my local machine.  I chose to delete/remove the info each time simply because it should all be restored by the cloud and I didn't want to risk a massive duplication of my data... I will say, I'm back up and running with no issues so I suspect you can make the same delete/remove choices...  But use your own judgment.  I don't want you to lose any data (ie.. please use care as you do this because I cannot bear the thought of causing anyone to experience the pain of data loss).
Once you've signed out of iCloud, restart your system.  When you get back in, head to the Mail, Contacts and Calendars section of your System Preferences and add your account back by choosing the brushed aluminum "iCloud" button.  When it asks for your account name, use your @iCloud.com email address.  I am all but certain my issue had started because one of my devices (iPhone or whatever) had been set up with an email alias specified instead of my @iCloud.com address.
Apple, if you're reading through any of these issues (there are TONS of users having this same problem).  Take note, that your icloud service somewhat frequently is not responding and yet tells the user that the password is wrong and this prompts people to be changing their passwords unnecessarily.  This has happened to me on numerous occasions.  Also, I noticed that last week's outage corresponded to a VERY similar outage exactly one year ago to the day.  Sounds like planned maintenance to me and I think you could do a better job notifying folks so we're not wasting HUGE amounts of time troubleshooting a problem that we have no hope of fixing.
Hope that helps some of you!

  • Duplicate Email Messages Mail 4.3

    Greetings,
I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and using the built-in Mac Mail client 4.3. I subscribe to MobileMe and have my primary mail alias and second mail alias. I use server based rules to manage my inbox.
For the past few weeks, I've been getting duplicate email messages in my inbox.
I have googled this and most of the articles that come back are dated.
Has any one else experienced this?
It has been working fine for months.
I have tried rebuilding my mailbox and have not noticed a difference.
    Thank-you,
    Derrick

This problem just started-up for me, too. Same Mac mail client; Snow Leopard. I have no rules set. I have two imap accounts feeding the client; only one is misbehaving with the duplicate generation. Need a solution!

  • IMAP Mail Messages Deleted Not Moved to Trash on Server

Hi, I'm having a heck of a time trying to get the server to update my account after I delete e-mail messages using my IMAP account in Mail. I am using Mail Version 2.0.7 and my Mailbox Behaviors in Preferences>Accounts for Trash are set to Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox and NOT TO Store deleted messages on the server, and I Permanently erase deleted messages that are One week old. My question is, even after I move messages to my Trash, then right click on it and delete them permanently, they are still hanging out on the server, and I can see them through my online account, even after syncing. I set my online Preferences for Composing to Move Deleted Messages to Deleted Messages, but it is never happening, unless I delete them again online. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be great! Thanks,
    Justen

Have you tried rebuilding (Menubar > Mailbox > Rebuild) the Inbox, Trash, and other associated mail folders? (If Rebuild is grayed out and you have multiple accounts, you will have to expand the view of the Inbox, Trash, and other associated mail folders containing these messages and select each affected account's Inbox, Trash, and others, separately, so Rebuild won't be grayed out.)

  • TS3899 Cannot Get Mail The mail server is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in mail settings. What can I do?

When I try to access Mail I get the following message "Cannot Get Mail. The mail server is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail Settings". I have entered the correct account details and even deleted them and re-entered them but to no avail, Help.

Try deleting the email account and readding it in the "other" tab instead of Yahoo/gmail, etc

  • Duplicate incoming mail messages

I keep getting duplicates and sometimes even triplicates of most incoming mail messages.  I have used the "rebuild" option, but nothing seems to work.  Any suggestions?

    Thank you,
    Steve G.

First, is her Mail configured to remove messages from the server right away, or leave them on for some duration? (Preferences/Accounts/(choose account)/Advanced/Remove copy from server after retrieving message)
Did the 3 copies come in at the same time, or over the course of some time when Mail automatically checked for new mail? Can you use webmail to view what the server shows (could it have 3 copies?)

  • Leopard Mail fails to update IMAP server properly

I'm wondering if anyone has managed to see this problem and/or troubleshoot it.
System: Apple Mail 3.5 running on a MBP running OS X 10.5.5.
Scenario: When an IMAP email is received in the Inbox and moved to a folder 'On My Mac' in Mail.app for filing, then webmail and iPhone simultaneously recognise that the email has been received (as they should do) and the activity viewer in Mail.app shows that a message is sent to the IMAP account 'changing flags' which results in the email in questions showing 'as read' in the iPhone or in the webmail client.
However, the problem is that the email doesn't appear to be moved out of the Inbox when it should be. In fact, if the email is moved to a sub-folder of the IMAP Inbox in Mail.app, then it appears in the webmail client / iPhone as being BOTH in the Inbox and in the nested sub-folder.
In order for the correct email filing / moves to be reflected, we've found that certain things cause some different activity to take place between Mail.app and the IMAP account. For instance, if you click on any of the other folders associated with the IMAP account in question (e.g. Sent, Trash, Junk) then the email is immediately moved successfully on both of the other platforms using the IMAP account (webmail and iPhone), so there must be something achieved by clicking those parts of the account which clicking in the Inbox doesn't do. Quitting Mail.app also runs some script which achieves the proper sync of mail messages between Mail.app and the IMAP account.
Troubleshooting: Apart from the slightly inconvenient workaround mentioned above, I've tried a host of things to fix this problem. I've deleted the Mail.app caches from the ~/Library/Caches. This didn't fix it. I also have run Onyx to delete system-wide caches. I've tried changing the frequency at which Mail.app contacts the server, testing it at 5, 15 and 30 minute intervals. None of these changes have made a difference. Nor has turning IDLE support on and off in Mail.app. Finally, I tried to use a third-party plugin (Imapcheck) for Mail.app which offers to poll the IMAP server more often to see if this could overcome the problem (it didn't work).
All I can see that's left is to remove the IMAP account from Mail and re-add it. If anyone has any other ideas, I would love to hear them. Thank you in advance!
