Updating Music Library

I just recently got a new Ipod Nano for Christmas and I converted all my old mp3 files from my old MP3 player to Itunes. After synching it to my ipod, I noticed all the files had wrong information (Song Names, Artist, Album, etc.) so a manually edited them all on my Ipod but the music in my library still had all my old incorrect information.
I was just wondering if there a way I can replace the songs in my Library with the songs in my ipod or if there's any other solution? Thanks in advance.

It does take some getting use to on windows, especailly if you used Windows Media Player. People mainly use it for there ipods and its simple layout.
What you need to do is goto control panel>quicktime>audio tab and make sure "Safemode" is checked. If not check it hit OK and reboot the PC for the settings to take. iTUnes uses parts of quicktime to play audio and video.

  • N97 software update=music library gone??????

i updated my n97,the songs are all still in the mass memory, but all gone from music library,is there an easy way to get them back,or do i have to delete them all from mass memory, and put them all back on again??? iv had it with this rubbish phone,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try connecting phone in mass storage mode and select show all files, look in 'private on E and delete the files listed, has worked for me in the past !
Storage Drives: (Mass storage E, Memory Card F)
    \private\101ffca9\harvesterdbvx_x.dat
    \private\10281e17\[string]mpxvx_x.db
    \private\10281e17\[string]pcvx_x.db
TIP: Connect the device in USB mass storage mode (File Transfer), to locate the private folder from the PC.
TIP: STRING and x_x will change depending on your phone.
After you've done this, then you should be able to re-scan and re-create the Music Library.
    Good Luck

  • How to Update Musica Library in iTunes

I choose to manually sync the music in my PC to my Ipod so my iTunes is really outdated regarding the music in my Ipod, how can I update the iTunes list only? Thank you

I mean that I unchecked the option for iTunes to syncronize automatically with my Ipod I choose to manually sync my Ipod with only the folders of music I want to add. I use two computers one at home one at work, I dont use very often the PC at work, but I want the Music Library in the iTunes in that PC to have a list of all my songs currently on my Ipod. Because I use mainly my PC at home the music library in the PC at work doesnt have all the music library currently on my Ipod, how can I update the music library so both are equal?

  • Cleaning and Updating Music Library's

I created a large music library from many CD’s and organized them into several sub-folders by artist name within a master “My Music Folder”. I then imported the “My Music Folder” into iTunes. The process worked great but when I reviewed the details in iTunes and on my iPod, I found duplicates, some misspellings, and duplicate artist names (i.e. “Beatles” and “The Beatles; “Clash” and “The Clash” I would like to clean up the library and organize the music to reduce the duplicates, simplify the artist list by a common name, and correct wrong information and in some cases add info to the artists.
My question is where is the best place to make these changes so that I can have one integrated and master music library incorporating the changes? Should the edits be done in the original folders or should the edits be done in iTunes and then saved as a new exported library? Or is there a better or recommended way?
    Thank you,

Use the (free) software Mp3tag. It can do 'Actions' to update, e.g. all "The Beatles" by "Beatles" etc. I just cleaned my ~4,000 songs library using that. iTunes is doable, but nowhere near as flexible. You may want to clean everything first and then reimport everything into iTunes for cleanest results.

  • Nokia N96 - Problem Updating Music library

Hi, I have transferred some music to my N96 and I am now trying to Update my library to show the new tracks. I have done this lots of times without a problem but today I had it refreshing for 2 hours and it didnt change off the refreshing screen. I have tried stopping it and taking my battery out and still no joy.

Since posting this problem I have been able to use the Music Player quite normally.
The problem and solution, I believe, lie in the way that Nokia's proprietary software (in the case of Macs this is Nokia Multimedia transfer) organises music files.
Nokia Multimedia Transfer organises music into folders named A-Z (and 0-9 if applicable) by artist on the phone. It also truncates folder and file names - folder names seem to be truncated to 13 characters and file names to 9 - fortunately, ID3 tags are not affected.
Any attempt to subvert this hierarchy will result in an incomplete scan of the music library. As Nokia and other methods result in completely different file structures it is necessary to remove all previously synched music from the phone and making a clean sync using Nokia's software.
Additionally, I discovered that as I was trying to synchronise multiple media (music, photos, videos, bookmarks) the whole process would become kind of stuck - that's why I tried alternative methods of synchronising my music. I have completely given up on all other media synchronisation for the sake of getting the music sorted out.
This isn't ideal but at least it works and it saved me from jumping up and down on my phone in shear cartoon frustration!

  • Itunes wont automatically update music library from audio cd

    PLEASE help if you can...
I insert an audio cd. Itunes asks me if I would like to import it, I click yes. Import appears to occur. However, the songs do not appear in my music library. According to the apple support pages it should.
I then click import CD (bottom right) to try again, importing appears to occur again, but still no tunes in my library. I have tried everything I can think of. That is why Im now here!!
    What am I doing wrong?
    Emma

....to add to the last part... When adding to the iTunes library,- I need iTunes to make a quick-scan to verify that media I am adding isn't already in there,- preventing duplicates that make remedial tasks of removing* duplicates so annoying and unproductive...

  • Can not update music library

When I connect my ipod to my computer it tells me that I have 5 authorized computers and this device can no longer be updated.  I must deauthorize on of the other computers.  Under support it says that I should deauthorize all of the computers.  Will I lose my music libray if I do that?  Thanks!

  • Updating music library to iPod

I have 12 songs from the same artist (same genre as well) on my iPod, however when I search by "Artist", it only shows three of them. If I search by "Song", I can find each of them individually. Does anyone know what I need to do to sync this up? Thanks!

The artist name must be exactly the same in all songs.
Sometimes there are spaces you cannot see.
Select all the songs by the artist.
    Right click and Get Info.
    Retype the Artist name.

    c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • Problems with Music library in iPod

"This message has been translated by Google Translate"
Dear friends of the Apple forum, let me state a fact that is happening too often since I installed the iPhone OS 3.1. When I access the iPod appears "Updating Music Library", and most of the time it goes losing all my music synchronized with iTunes.
    Can You help me?
    Thanks

Reinstalling will normally not affect the tracks and settings already in your iTunes. That said, it's wise to make a backup of any tracks that you've purchased from the iTunes Music Store or that would otherwise be difficult to replace and of your playlists before you upgrade, just in case something would happen to go wrong.
As to your specific problem, take a look at this web page and see if it helps:
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes on Windows
    Good luck.

  • Why does iTunes not refresh the Music Library if files are updated?

What if have already a nice library SYSTEM built for my music, and every time I add 30-50 files to 30-50 different locations, iTunes requires me to add the same song again... What if I am doing this updating for 3 hours and I can't remember anymore which songs I added to my Brazilian compilation folder? Why can't iTunes update the library with added files? I see this question popping up on a lot of forums. This is very cumbersome. I keep my international music collection organized by country of origin. If I let iTunes consolidate my music, it will put everything into one big folder organized by name of artist. I definitely don't want to let the program do that. I would lose all my work and all my system.
Once I imported the folder system into iTunes though as a reference, it does not recognize if there was a change, music added, music deleted, music reogranized. It doesn't make sense to delete everything from the iTunes Music Library every time I update my music collection.
Where is the solution? I want iTunes to find the changes and apply it to my Music Library automatically.
I can live with my iPod only having the files in one big library, since I mostly use it for shuffle play anyway, but I want to keep my originals in an orderly manner based on style, country of origin, etc. I don't want to end up having all my files renamed and moved.
So I need iTunes to refresh my Music Library by looking at the original folder I imported the list from, and make the necessary changes.

I guess then this is a serious shortcoming of iTunes... Up till this point I owned an RCA Lyra MP3 player and it had no problems whatsoever doing these things. I guess, after seeing how iTunes and iPod works, I'd rather return to Lyra if it had an 80 G version. The only thing that still keeps me with iPod is the capacity.
It seems like that iTunes is a very cumbersome program and it tries to be so much user friendly that it even tries to eliminate the human element. Sometimes, it makes sense to keep files organized in specific manner. Especially when there is work involved and productivity.
I guess I will just delete everything from the play list and read in the main folder every once in a while, leaving the machine working on it during the night or something, then another night, it will refresh my iPod. That's the only solution I see right now.
It is interesting that a huge program like iTunes cannot do what a small one like Lyra can. And I even read in user groups that some people created programs for this problem, but those programs don't work with iTunes 7 well yet, so I am stuck with the manual updating or the brutal deletion and re-reading.
Thank you for the answer. At least I know what not to expect from the program. I just use it for only one purpose: load music onto iPod, then forget about it. It quite an unuseful program for me otherwise.

  • I downloaded version 11 for the itunes library and updated my ipod to ios6, today when I click to open itunes, it wont open and says I need to reinstall itunes. Will I lose my whole music library?

I downloaded version 11 on itunes and updated my ipod to os6, when I try to open itunes now, it says it downloaded incorrectly and won't open. It says to reinstall itunes. Will I lose my whole music library if I reinstall itunes?

you will not loose your content at all. It is still sitting in your hard drive even if you uninstall itunes.
Once itunes will be reinstalled , it will re-sync your stuff on your hard drive
