Upgrading to JavaFX 1.2, in a case translateX,Y doesn't work

I'm almost getting out of the bunch of issues arisen out of the upgrade to 1.2. One of the final points is a controller class that I use for animations (it's a mobile application and new "screens" slide in and out from an edge). The thing worked fine with 1.1.1. The key concept is that each "screen" is encapsulated in a NavigationTile class, which extends Container. I keep both references to the previousTile and the currentTile in a Group; then a Timeline sets the translateX,Y coordinates for the two tiles, so they are adjacent and "slide in". Well, I see that they get placed in the correct initial position, but then they aren't moved. The Timeline fires correctly all the changes, as I can print the coordinates and see the proper sequence.
As I said, it worked in 1.1.1. Is there anything I should learn about translateX,Y in 1.1.2?

You should read [JavaFX 1.2 Technology: Features and Enhancements|http://javafx.com/docs/articles/javafx1-2.jsp] page, it is a very interesting reading, and very helpful when you need to fix (upgrade) your scripts.
Something possibly relevant:
The preferred method to position a node for layout is layoutX and layoutY instead of using translateX and translateY.
While translateX and translateY most likely will work, layoutX and layoutY will have better performance.
Also, if you do a legitimate translateX and translateY, the original value is lost if you did not use layoutX and layoutY.
