Urgent issue, BW Data extraction

Hi,
I have an urgent issue and need help.
We were loading data after activating business content. Every thing worked fine and the delta load was also smooth.
However, in order to start everything fresh. I deleted all the info package, deleted the "Intialization option for the source system" AND then created my infopackage for Full upload with initialize option.
In this case the extractor didn't find any data. I though it will bring all the data and this behavious put me in difficult situation. Please note that till this time everything was working fine.

Hi Anurava,
What do you mean by <i>"Full upload with initialize"</i>?
I couldn't understand what exaclty you meant by I "deleted all the info package, deleted the "Intialization option for the source system" Are you saying you deleted the requests from your ODS/Cube?

Here I have a issue while extracting the data from Oracle tables. I encountered some columns for which the length of character stream is more than 60 , some where around 200 to 300 , for example : Reason for some action , Comments , discription .
I am not able to to treat them as master data text since these fileds are coming with the Transaction data . In SAP BI we can have the data type CHAR with length max to 60 . Now how can I deal this situation in a better way ??

Issue with Data Extraction from OAGIS 9 User Area Tags ...

We are working on displaying the data coming from OAGIS9 into Excel sheet. We created a custom Schema for the Excel sheet and are able to display all the data in OAGIS9 except for the ones in UserArea. We are facing issue in extracting data from tags present in UserArea of OAGIS 9 schema and transforming it into our Custom built schema.
Can you please suggest us some way in which we extract data from userArea?

1.You need to have the custom schema that is coming with in the <UserArea>/<any>

Issue with Data Extraction for Master data

Hi All,
I have requriment to enhance standard Datasource(0VENDOR_ATTR) to populate certain fields from table LFBK.
I have enhanced the datasource and the i am able to pull the data in ECC via RSA3.
After that i have replicated the Datasource in BI and have activated the Datasource and the enhanced fields are available in BI datasources and have created the transformation between Datasource and 0VENDOR.
when i run the infopackage, the new enhanced fields are not getting populated. I really wonder how the data is not coming to BI, when its is getting populated in RSA3 in ECC.
Request to give your solution to solve this issue.

After making changes to your 0VENDOR_ATTR DS, make sure that you had replicate DS at BI side.
if not then please first Replicate the DS & check the newly enhanced field is available in PSA.

Issue with data extracted to "loader" format

I only just noticed something weird (yet probably not directly related to sqldeveloper)
Using 3EA4, I see the following line when unloading a query result to "loader" format:
CONTINUEIF NEXT(1:1) = '#'
I assumed this is harmless , yet today I've noticed it cause sql*loader to systematically
ignore the first character of every line in the data section of the .ldr file!
I am using this format often as it conveniently bundles spec and data (ldr=ctl+dat),
but have never paid attention to this glitch before. Could this perhaps affect this
particular version of sql*loader only? Right now I only have access to the 10.2.0.1.0
win32 version that comes with XE10g. Can someone confirm?
If such a widespread (free, from Oracle, I assume attracted a lot of users) version
is affected, wouldn't it make sense to not generate the offending line from sqldeveloper?

Wow - on closer inspection I see sqldeveloper actually systematically includes
a leading space, whicn can then be eaten by the CONTINUEIF while enabling
the support for multi-line records.
My problem only occurred because I had stripped that leading space.
Every little thing counts, it seems :-(

Data extraction from Non-Unicode ECC6 to Unicode SAP BI system

We have an existing non-unicode ECC6 system. Currently we are installing SAP BI unicode system. Can anyone tell me are there any issues in data extraction for SAP BI from a non-unicode ECC6 system to an Unicode SAP BI system ?
Please also note that our data consists of Asian (korean, Japanese & Chinese) fonts.

Thank you for your reply.
I have gone through the notes suggested by you, but they suggest issues related to BW 3.x versions. We are currently on SAP_BW 700 - SP16. Also, among other notes i found note 510882 which might be helpful for custom developments.
But i am still wondering whether we are going to face major issues related to data extraction from non-unicode ECC6 system to unicode SAP_BW 700 system.
Incase you have any further details, please let me know.

This type of error occures due to lack of memory in server or no process is available for request process.

Urgent issue, Suddenly no data is extracted Once I create new infopack

I have an urgent issue and need help.

However, in order to start everything afresh, I deleted all the info package, deleted the "Intialization option for the source system" AND then created my infopackage for Full upload with initialize option.
In this case the extractor didn't find any data. Please see the following log from the monitor "status " Tab.
"No data available
Diagnosis
The data request was a full update.
In this case, the corresponding table in the source system does not
contain any data.
System response
Info IDoc received with status 8.
Procedure
Check the data basis in the source system."
This is not correct since we were loading data ( full and delta ) successfully before and there are data in the system. This is most probably to do with the delta queue initialization in the source system.
We were looading data from datassource 0CRM_SALES_ORDER_I.
Please help, we are really stuck.

Very Very Urgent Issue: Restricted Key Figure does not return any data

Hi all,
Please help me solving this urgent issue.
created customer exit variable on characterstics version and also
other customer exit variable on Value type.
I coded that in variable exit. Problem is when I include these in
restrickted keyfigure My query does not return me any data.
But if I remove from restrickted key firgure and put it as normal
charaterstics I see the variable is getting populated.
Also in RSRT the SQl generated when these are included in RKF is not
correct.
I debugged and know they are getting populated. As when included in RKF
I can also see the values of customer exit variables from information
tab.
I also know that there is data in cube for those restrictions.
I posted one OSS Notes regarding this urgent issue. But got no reply from SAP.

KSB1 data extraction issue

Hi Experts!!!
I have an issue regarding KSB1 extraction of Activities specifically. The report was not fetching the activities data in the report, whereas expenses data was appearing.
After selecting the data source of database & archive, then the report started fetching the activities data. Here my question is when the data is archived is it deleted from the main database?
How can I see when & who performed this action?

I think I have to re-phrase my question, actually KSB1 is behaving very odd in terms of activity values fetching. The data is available on the main database, other reports like COOIS showing actual activity data and KP27 is dispalying planned activity data.
But the KSB1 is not fetching the data properly, what may be reason behind it. Please help....

CRM - BI Data Extraction Issue

Hi Gurus,
We have CRM 2007 and BI 7.0. We have activated all the DS and also replicated them in BW and also activated all the necessary Infocubes in and Transfer rules etc.
In CRM, the data is available in table - CRMD_ORDERADM_H (480 records), but when I check in RSA3 for the 0CRM_SRV_PROCESS_H Data Source, it displays as 0 records.
Would be of great help if someone can guide me if we missed any necessary settings or configurations that have to be performed in order to populate the data from tables to Data Sources.

BODS 3.1 : SAP R/3 data extraction -What is the difference in 2 dataflows?

Can anyone advise as to what is the difference in using the data extraction flow for extracting Data from SAP R/3 ?
1)DF1 >> SAPR/3 (R3/Table -query transformation-dat file) >>query transformation >> target
This ABAP flow generates a ABAP program and a dat file.
We can also upload this program and run jobs as execute preloaded option on datastore.
This works fine.
2) We also can pull the SAP R/3 table directly.
DF2>>SAPR/3 table (this has a red arrow like in OHD) >> Query transformation >> target
THIS ALSO Works fine. And we are able to see the data directly into oracle.
Which can also be scheduled on a job.
BUT am unable to understand the purpose of using the different types of data extraction flows.
When to use which type of flow for data extraction.
Advantage / disadvantage - over the 2 data flows.
What we are not understanding is that :
if we can directly pull data from R/3 table directly thro a query transformation into the target table,
why use the Flow of creating a R/3 data flow,
and then do a query transformation again
and then populate the target database?
There might be some practical reasons for using these 2 different types of flows in doing the data extraction. Which I would like to understand. Can anyone advise please.

Generally we pull the entire SAP R/3 table thro query transformation into oracle.
For which we use R/3 data flow and the ABAP program, which we upload on the R/3 system
so as to be able to use the option of Execute preloaded - and run the jobs.
Since we do not have any control on our R/3 servers nor we have anyone on ABAP programming,
we do not do anything at the SAP R/3 level
I was doing this trial and error testing on our Worflows for our new requirement
WF 1 : which has some 15 R/3 TABLES.
For each table we have created a separate Dataflow.
And finally in between in some dataflows, wherein, the SAP tables which had lot of rows, i decided to pull it directly,
by-passing the ABAP flow.
And still the entire work flow and data extraction happens ok.
In fact i tried creating a new sample data flow and tested.
Using direct download and - and also execute preloaded.
I did not see any major difference in time taken for data extraction;
Because anyhow we pull the entire Table, then choose whatever we want to bring into oracle thro a view for our BO reporting or aggregate and then bring data as a table for Universe consumption.
Actually, I was looking at other options to avoid this ABAP generation - and the R/3 data flow because we are having problems on our dev and qa environments - giving delimiter errors. Whereas in production it works fine. Production environment is a old set up of BODS 3.1. QA and Dev are relatively new enviornments of BODS. Which is having this delimiter error.

And trying to resolve this problem, I ended up with the option of trying to pull directly the R/3 table. Without using ABAP workflow. Just by trial and error of each and every drag and drop option. Because we had to urgently do a POC and deliver the data for the entire e recruiting module of SAP.
I dont know whether i could do this direct pulling of data - for the new job which i have created,
which has 2 workflows with 15 Dataflows in each worflow.
And and push this job into production.
And also whether i could by-pass this ABAP flow and do a direct pulling of R/3 data, in all the Dataflows in the future for ANY of our SAP R/3 data extraction requirement. And this technical understanding is not clear to us as regards the difference between the 2 flows. And being new to this whole of ETL - I just wanted to know the pros and cons of this particular data extraction.
As advised I shall check the schedules for a week, and then we shall move it probably into production.

URGENT!!! Extraction by FM is not working after entering No_MORE_DATA

Hi Experts,
We are trying to extract data from a custom table and look up cdhdr and cdpos table for change log for recrods in that custom table. I created a generic datasource with an abaper who defined a self defined FM below which is a copy of the RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE and added code to it as necessary to meet the requirements above. It was extracting data fine but the job in ECC was hanging forever and bringing down the server. Then we added the code for RAISE NO_MORE_DATA. Now it is not extracting any data at all. Please help as this is really urgent. Following is the code. pleae tell me what i am doing wrong.

Where is the first select statement - that is select statement on the custom table ?
You should open cursor on this table and subsequently fetch package by package.
After each fetch you will check whether any data is retrieved and raise the exception no more data

Urgent: Problems in Generic Extraction by Function Module

Hi BW Gurus,
I am new to SDN and also new to generic extraction using function module. My requirement is to extract long text(142 char) from CRM to BW as the text is not stored in database table I used function module read_text with in another ZXXX function module copy of (RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE). In my extract structure I used GUID(char,32), Langu, long text(142 char) and 2 placeholders. Text can be extracted by passing STXH table fields(Tdname, Tdid, Tdobject, Tdspars) to read_text as parameters and i also need to use CRMD_ORDERADM_H field GUID(32 char) to compare 1st 32 chars of tdname(70 char) with Guid to select Guids and loop thru this Guids and for each Guid i need to append lines of text to e_t_data but as i donot know ABAP i unable to write the code for this. Through my friends help i wrote code when i check in RSA3 it is displaying the text but when i replicate into BW and load into data target in monitor the status is red with records initially but afterwards it will be red status again with 0 from 0 records for initial load again.when i check on job logs the errors i have are:
The background job has created a job log file of 2Gb size and it is currently on a infinite loop writing entries into the SAP System Log that it cannot write to the Job log file due to Error 22 for write/read access to a file this is because of the datasource i have created. Hi,
The statement <b>RAISE NO_MORE_DATA</b> should be active (uncommented) in your code. Otherwise, the infinte loop occurs.
