URGENT: web reports

Hi,
after some investigation i've found out that in the reports server cache there are two exact copies of each report. It seems as though that each time a report is generated , the server makes two specular copies of the same report. The same thing happens even if i write the string myself in the browser's URL pane,i.e without having a form calling the rep etc..
The string is the following:
http://machine:8080/dev60cgi/rwcgi60?server=myserver&report=myreport.rdf&userid=x/[email protected]&destype=cache&desformat=PDF&sequence=x&parameters=y

I suspect you are use Microsoft IE. We also had this problem. It seems to relate to IE only (i.e. doesn't happen in Netscape). We believe that IE makes a request to see what sort of data retrieval Oracle will return - this causes the first report job. Then IE asks for the report, causing the second report job.
Workarounds are:
1 Use the parameter TOLERANCE, which makes Oracle return a previously sumbitted report (within the tolerance time) rather than re-running. If your data is changing rapidly this may not be a goer
2 Write a front end report request screen and use the RUN_REPORT command, apparantly this bypasses the double report request

    We have a web report which uses a variable made on 0CALMONTH. The order of display of values for this variable search help is 02/2004, 03/2004, 01/2005, 07/2006, 08/2006, 05/2007. In this order we have the latest date (05/2007) displayed at the end of the list. What we want is that the values in the search help of 0CALMONTH should be displayed in the reverse order i.e. latest date first (05/2007, 08/2006, 07/2006... etc).

    Hi Premanand,
    If u display the report in Internet Explorer there you can see differnet buttons like
    Save View, Book mark, Variable Screen etc...There click Save View give tech name and descryption. After Sorting use this in WAD instead selecting query , select this view and execute.

    In bex query customer has been defined as filter. In webi when we created report using the bex query,It prompts for customer . How can we print the selected customer in my webi report Without using prompt summary().
    We can't use User Response because its not a Webi query filter.
    NOTE: we are using BOBJ 4.0

    Eventhough you have created variable BeX query designer.
    User reponse will work ,
    steps to  achive,
    1.open the universe build on (Bex query with customer variable)
    2.you can find the filter symbol in universe for customer variable that you have created in bexx query
    3. then copy the exact text eg:"select the customer" in universe for that filter
    4.then in webi user reponse of that text. eg :userreponse("select the customer")

  • Unable to save webi report in excel format

    Hi All,
    I have a question. I recently upgrsded my internet explorer from IE 7 to IE 8.
    Previously, i was able to save webi reports in excel format without any issues.Even after upgrading to IE version8, i was able to save webi reoprts to excel without any issues for 2 weeks.
    Suddenly I am unable to save Webi reports in excel format now.When I select the Save to my computer as Excel option the saving dialog box appears and hangs forever.
    Can someone please advise me on this??

    Operating system : Windows 7
    Internet Explorer : IE8 Version 8.0.7600.16385CO.
    Jre Version : 1.6_ greater than 1.8 version.

  • Opening Drillable Webi Reports

    One of my colleagues developed two XI R2 Webi reports that enable the user to drill down.  These reports worked OK while in his own favourites folder but when saved into the repository no-one could successfully open them (not even the creator or Administrator).
    On trying to open either report, it would start to open and display the outer frame of the document, the two tabs within the document (one contains a table, the other a chart) would be visible but the tab content was not visible.  The InfoView session would then hang indefinitely.
    If a user copied the report to their favourites folder, they could then open it successfully and could refresh, drill up and down and resave it without any problem.
    We tried deleting the repository version and resaving it, but it was still the same.  As the users needed the reports urgently, I copied the reports to the relevant user favourites folders as a workaround and have just gone back to investigate further today.  However, today the reports are behaving normally for all users and I can't reproduce the problem.  The Windows 2003 host server has NOT been rebooted nor have any of the BOXI servers been stopped and restarted in the meantime.
    Has anyone else expierenced this type of problem?  If so, did you find out what was causing it?

            In su01 if we go  and change the date format from MM/YYYY to MM.YYYY  for a particular user ex:ss11 , if another user ex:bst55 try to run the web report he/she may get same error .If we make the change in su01-> default tab->under date format for a particular user , is it work for other users?
    Can u tell me step by step where exactly we need to go in AWB and where need to modify.
    I am looking for ur answer.

    Hi, I have a webi report on several bex queries which have month objects.
    if I merge month objects, month objects have data like this from some month object
    period 01 2015
    period 02 2015
    period 03 2015 from month objects from 7 bex queries.

    03 2015 from one bex query
    objects are of text data types.
    if I merge common month objects result is

    but I want result like this

    or

    if I create variables for the objects, I am not able to merge them. how can I achieve this. I am struggling like any thing.

    may be you need a trim function as well to get rid of unnecessary space at right.
    =Trim(Right([Merged Period Object];7) )
    also, the measure should have a projection function associated with it and in block properties, "avoid duplicate row aggregation" option should be unchecked.

  • Roles & Authorizations for Web Reports...

    Hello Experts,
    We are newly implementing Web Reports in our organization. I need your great thoughts regarding implementing Authorizations for users to access the reports.
    We are using a report menu page that contain links to all the reports. The page opens by clicking on a link on the portal. The individual reports are basically accessed from this page by clicking on the corresponding button (links a URL ).
    I wonder if there is any way to look into the menu page (XHTML code of that web page/application) when ever the users click on the reports link and disable those buttons that the users are not allowed to access depending on the roles users are assigned to. Otherwise is there any better way to do it.
    And also how to call a function from web applications.
    This is a kind of urgent issue any quick ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    I apologize for the difficulty in reading this  I will repost.
    We have had no training or received any documenation on WAD.  The below was created from internet research.  Hence there may be WAD functionality that would allow easier maintenance, however; this is what we use.
    With our dashboard, I have a web template that contains hyperlinks for our reports.  I will call this HeaderTemplate1.  For each web page I have report templates.  These report templates have the HeaderTemplate1 mentioned above as well as the report tables, charts, text elements, tabs, etc.
    The JavaScript logic for accessing the urls of the specific report templates is contained within our HeaderTemplate1.
    Below is how our setup was tested.  Keep in mind, this was only for testing basic functionality.  If this is something we use I will most likely create a master data table that houses the user ID and an attribute for the header type.  Thus, any report menu changes can be altered quickly without changing the javascript of each report template.  Also this will accomodate the few thousand users we have.
    To add the functionality of different 'menus', I created another header template with the same hyperlinks of HeadertTemplate1 with the exception of one or two hyperlinks.  This, HeaderTemplate2, was added to each report template just below HeaderTemplate1.  Note that both HeaderTemplate1 and HeaderTemplate2 were set as visible on each report template.
    Also, on each report template I added a text element.  The 'List of Text Elements'property was set as such; Element Type = General Text Sympol,  Element ID = SYUSER.  This Text Element was linked to a query  or view from BEx via the dataprovider.  On the HTML side, I surrounded this Text Element with

    Each Report template has this javascript function, fnRepOnLoad, which is triggered at the OnLoad event.

    The function results as this.  If the user is USER123, HeaderTemplate1 is hidden, leaving only HeaderTemplate2 visible.  Otherwise HeaderTemplate2 is invisible leaving on HeaderTemplate1 visible.
    We do not use buttons as our global leaders prefer hyperlinks but buttons can be enabled or disabled similarly.
    As mentioned before, if this method is implemented, I will create a reportable master data table.  Create a customer exit variable to retrieve the header template required for the user.  This header template variable value will then be pulled by a text element on each report template.  The script function will act as follows.  If many report headers are necessary I may use a case statement.

    I have to use a sub query to accomplish the requirement:
    Query 1: list the customers based on material number(s) users entered.
    Query 2. Use the result of query 1 as input for customer and list all the products bought by these customers.
    Please let me know how can  i achieve this.

    you can build the whole SQL you want along with the @prompt for user to enter the material number and use it in a derived table in the UNIVERSE.
    sel customer,products
    from tab1
    where customoers in (selcet customers
    from tab2
    where materialnumber in @prompt('enter material number',A,.....))
    Are you by any chance using SAP OLAP queries as source?

  • Printing Web reports

    Hi
    We have a web report with 3 queries in it. In the "Paging" property of the Analysis web items in WAD, I increased the number of rows to 300 so that the users don't have to scroll from page to page to see results. Now, the entire report with values for all 3 queries are seen on one page.
    However, this is causing the browser to freeze, or take a very long time to display , and the report does not convert to PDF. When the Paging is set back to its default value of 25 rows, the report runs fine, much quicker and PDF conversion works.
    My question is - is there a way for us to keep the Paging to 25 rows and have the users scroll from one page to another to see the entire result set, but also enable them to print the entire report with one click? As of now it seems like each page of the report has to be printed separately.
    Would greatly appreciate any tips as it's an urgent issue. Thanks!

    Hello SDN,
    I am working on the WAD and want to display the filters and conditions, if any, in the web report. I also want to display the selection criteria which we used on the variable screen to run the report. What is the web item used to display all these? What are the settings I need to do?

    As I mentioned in my previous post: If you put in any entry in the list of text elements, it overrides the normal setting for displaying either all generic text elements, or all filters or all variables.
    As I understand, your requirement is to:
    1) Display all the variables and filters on the query
    2) display some of the generic text elements
    Getting these two together on a single text element item is not possible as far as I know. So either you display all the generic text elements as well or else you use two different text element items.
    On the first one put in individual entries for whatever generic text elements you want displayed and uncheck all other options, in the second one simple select the two checkboxes to display filter values and variable values.

  • WebI reports getting corrupted after pointing to different version of the Universe

    I am facing a very difficult and weird problem ..plz help !!!
    I am curently working in a project which has different phases of testing.While migrating my reports from Dev environment to SYS, I had to change the database connection in the Universe to SYS.After doing so,I point the reports (webI reports) to this new universe.
    All my report variables are getting corrupted and automatically appended with a " " in the formulae of the report
    for eg if my report variable is =if(&#91;dimension object&#93;;" ";" ")
    the variable becomes "=if(&#91;dimension object&#93;;\" \";\" \") "--- plz note that a \ gets appended in front of the " within the formula!!!
    This problem repeated when i had to migrate the reports from UAT back to SYS!!!
    I have a report which is fullly hard coded(business wants so!!) and has some 300 report variables... so I cannot manuaaly edit them in each migration
    Can you please help me if you have a work around for this issue??
    I read in BOB that its a BO bug,it it true?

    The objects in the universe are just teh same,I just import the existing universe,change the connection to SYS and then export it to a new folder.
    Its behaving weird,yesterday i createda  new folder instead of using the existing SYS folder for universe,i exported the universe.NOw I pointed the report with 300 variables to this new universe and it was working fine... and then when i did the same for the remaining reports..all got corrupted like stated before... i had to manuaaly go and esit every variable cause it was urgent for me to migrate to SYS.
    I was saved cause my report with large variables got saved!!!

    If there are 2 universes of absolute same structure and objects, can the WebI reports built on one universe accessed from the other.
    Is there any way we can change the source universe of a report. Or you have to build the WebI reports from scratch for the new universe

    Yes, you can change the universe used in WebI reports (assuming you are using XI R2 - don't know about prior versions)1.  Open you WebI report2.  Go to Edit Query3.  Click on the Properties tab4.  Under the Universe section, click the ... button to the right of the current Universe name.5.  A list of your universes will appear, find the new universe in the list and click OK6.  The Change Source dialog box will appear, it will automatically map fields of the same name.  If your names don't exactly match, you can manually map them.7.  Once you are have verified the field mapping, click OK8.  Your report is now pointed to the new universe!Hope that helps!
