URL display incomplete now?

When I go to pages in Safari on my iPhone 5 under iOS 7, Safari now shows only the domain name at the top in the URL field, not the full path...
This can be very misleading...
What's up?

In my opinion its still quite bad. If I'm navigating forward or backwards on a succession of internet pages, I want to know where I am without requiring me to stop and make an extra tap somewhere else. If i'm on a website that has a series of articles, I want to know if I'm on the home page or a different page, at a glance. The way it is now, it looks like I'm on the home page no mater what.
I find it even worse on the ipad, wheres theres not even a full screen mode.
To me, its either a mistake or a dumbing down of interacting with technology that I realy dislike.
At least give me the option to view full urls in preferences.

  • URL Display

    Hi Colleagues,
    We have a requirement where
    we will get the URL's(number of URL's changes according to the ouput) as query output
    These URL's need to be Displayed on the screen
    Here in our code we are getting URL's in this way
    for (int j=0; j < finalResult.size(); j++)
                               RESULT result = (RESULT)finalResult.get(j);
                               wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess(result.getURL()+ " " + result.getURLNAME() );
    Could anyone please let me know How to bind these URL and URLName to the Context
    and Get these URL's displayed(no of URLs returned by Query) on the View
    Manythanks & Regards

    Hi
    in the below code the PatResult size is 2
    for (int j=0; j < PatResult.size(); j++)
                                result = (PAT)PatResult.get(j);
                               wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess(result.getURL()+ " " + result.getDLOBJNAME() + "" + result.getDLOBJTITLE());
                               element = wdContext.createElementsElement();
                               element.setURL(result.getURL());
                               element.setURLLabel(result.getDLOBJTITLE());
                               wdContext.nodeElements().bind(element);
                               wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("URL is"+element.getURL());
                               wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("FileName is"+element.getURLLabel());
                               /*wdContext.currentElementsElement().setURL(result.getURL());
                               wdContext.currentElementsElement().setURLLabel(result.getDLOBJTITLE());*/
    When i bind it to the context as mentioned above and get the node size using
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("elements node size  is "+wdContext.nodeElements().size());
    it si returning nodesize as "1"
    actually it should return two URL's
    but now the context node element is returning only one URL?
    Could anyone please let me know...i am missing something
    is it something like we have set the nodesize before?
    Thanks & Regards

  • Struts: long jsp forms are displayed incomplete

    Hi
    1. i wrote a dynavalidator form beanin the struts-config.xml
    2. I wrote the validations in validations.xml
    3. i used a tag like this in the jsp to enable client side validation:
    <html:javascript formName="/getSingleUserQuotes"
    method="validateForm"
    dynamicJavascript="true"
    staticJavascript="true"
    cdata="false" />
    Now some of the forms are displayed incomplete. When I do a view source, I find that the code is incomplete. It seems the browser recieves data in chunks and some of the chunks are not recieved by the browser. This is happening in case of long forms in which the client side validation javascript generated by struts is also adding to the length of the code. The smaller forms are displayed properly.
    Has anybody faced this problem?
    I think there may be a tomcat configuration that needs ot be changed...i am not sure though.
    Please help.
    Tanveer

    hi
    the problem was something else. apparently I was doing something like this:
    if(request.getAttribute("quotation").equals("Mortgage"))
    }and the 'quotation was null. So a null pointer exception was thrown. but this exception was not displayd inthe browser.
    reason: the JSP page is very big. So apparently Tomcat sends the data in chunks and after the first chunk, the second chunk had the exception. So tomcat did not send the second chunk.
    when I added:
    <%@ page buffer="100kb" %>
    <%@ page autoFlush="true" %>
    the error was displayed in the browser.

    A few months back I Dropped my iPhone 4 and I cracked my screen and now i cant unlock my phone due to touch screen not working plus there are blurred lines across the screen and I can't see anything that it displays.
    Now when I try too connect my iPhone 4 to iTunes on my computer at home an error message comes up saying that I have to unlock my iPhone 4 for it to communicate to my device.
    But the problem is that I can't unlock my iPhone 4 because I'm unable to see the key pad and my touch screen no longer responds when I touch it.
    I just want to reset my iPhone 4 back to its Factory Settings & start all over from the beginning.
    How can I unlock my iPhone 4 with iTunes on my computer or any other option you suggest me trying.
    Thank you in advance,

    If you have had a "local guy "repair your iphone you will not get any support from Apple for warranty OR post warranty
    If Verizon return it to Apple it wil not be handled by Apple
    If Verizon also use unauthorised repairers you may be lucky
    (Apple do not sell parts to local guys or anyone else )

  • Display incomplete image: Premature end of JPEG file

    Hello people,
    My problem is that displaying an image with incomplete data works fine, apart from that the following error message is printed out: Premature end of JPEG file
    The picture looks perfect (the missing part is rendered in gray), but I want to get rid of the error message.
    //init
    File jpegFile = new File("picture.jpg");
    FileInputStream inputStream = new FileInputStream(jpegFile);
    ByteArrayOutputStream outputStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    //step 1: downloading the image
    byte buffer[] = new byte[bufferSize];
    int bytesRead;
    while( bytesRead = input.read( buffer ) ) >= 0 )
            output.write( buffer, 0, bytesRead );
    //step 2: create (and display) incomplete image (download not finished yet)
    byte byteArray[] = outputStream.toByteArray();
    Image img = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createImage( byteArray );Thanks for help,
    Martin

    Recreate the JPG image in your graphics editor - it is
    corrupted.

  • Calendar url's are now "show in contacts"

    Calendar url's are now "show in contacts"
    October 20 2014 Early this morning I checked my calendar and my URLs were OK. I even used a few of them. After updating the iPhone to iOS 8.1 at noon all my calendar URLs are now "show in contacts". Every single URL in the calendar has changed. What happened? Is this another new neat feature in ios8.1/yosemite 10.10 software? I was not asked during the update to iOS 8.1 to change the URLs to a Contacts link. Now I have to change all the URLs to notes in the calendar dates. Fun…
    The URLs in the iPhone 6 are OK, but I don’t use the iPhone for opening URLs.
    Also, even the calendar 'Show in Contacts" is not working. Calendar entry finds the first contact when i press the ‘show in contacts’ but calendar does not find any others. Close/open both calendar and contacts apps and calendar finds only the very first entry again. Another neat feature and fun process. Back to manual searching in contacts.
    These are the latest versions i have on my iMac
    Contacts = 9.0 (1498)
    calendar = 8.0 (2026)
    OSX 10.10 (14A389)
    Safari 8.0 (10800.1.25)
    iphone 6 (8.1 (12B411)

    I just added apple.com to the URL section of an even in Calendar. And hotmail.com to the Notes section. Via the Mac.
    Both on the Mac, running Yosemite, and iPhone 5 running 8.1, open up in Safari.
    Then I added speediest.net (Notes) and eBay.com (URL)  via the iPhone 5. Again, both open Safari on both devices.
    Where is the "Show In Contacts" showing up?

  • How can I prevent the url display from sometimes being overwritten by button icons?

    The address in the url bar is sometimes overwritten by a line of button icons, which can overlap onto buttons beside the url display.
    Please see a typical display here:
    http://preview.tinyurl.com/k3ayssw
    This, I am happy to say, does not happen with every website I visit, but it happens often enough to be a real nuisance.
    Here is a list of *some* of the webpages where I have encountered this phenomenon:

    Sure hope that there is an easy solution. I reverted to the Classic Display to work around it, only to find that it didn't solve the problem.

    Hello,
    That is not normal behaviour and is caused by one of your add-ons. Just to be sure, '''try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
    If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
    *Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click Help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled''.
    If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".<br>
    [[Image:Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win]]
    '''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
    ''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
    Since it will be a hassle to find out which one of your many extensions is the culprit, follow the note in this section of the article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems#w_test-for-faulty-extensions
    When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

  • FEATURE REQUEST: urls display without extensions (mod_rewrite in .htaccess)

    Just had a client ask about the file extensions appearing in the web address bar... home.html, about.html, etc etc. His previous site came from a wordpress environment where everything was pretty, but his bigger concern was how he has posted urls all over the place without the extensions for the last five years. (And without the extensions, none of his external page links that point to the new Muse site work properly.) So, not being a programmer, but being resourceful, I did some research and learned all about adding mod_rewrite to the .htaccess file on Apache servers. Thankfully it was a relatively easy fix. The links my client has all over the interweb (without the extension) now point correctly to his pages, but once inside the site, all menu links still display with extensions. And so today I'm going back through the entire Muse site file and change all the automatic internal links (that use the .html or .php extension) to external links (without the extensions) to satisfy the client's request. I thought it might be something designers would appreciate as a feature in Muse, if there was the option to truncate the extensions within Muse by adding the code to the .htaccess file. Here are some resources: http://alexcican.com/post/how-to-remove-php-html-htm-extensions-with-htaccess/ https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-mod_rewrite http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3631153/how-come-some-site-urls-do-not-include-a-file-e xtension

  • Just installed new 10.8.5 update and my 15" MacBook Pro display is now turning off on it's own.

    I installed the Mountain Lion OSX update today, and I saw in the notes that this update was supposed to address an issue with the retina displays just shutting off, which is a problem I have not had with my new laptop. Now mine IS shutting itself off, and no amount of button punching can turn it back on before it wants to. My MacBook Pro is a 15" build 12F45, 2.7 GHz i7, which I purchased only in August. The screen just goes black at any time, pretty much every few minutes!!! *** APPLE?!!!
    I am a designer working on 2014 products, and this is a VERY crucial time for me. I am so frustrated, not only did the iOS7 update completely ruin my iPhone 4S, which has NO battery life anymore, (is it because of the LAME paralax effect always running? - plus I consider the interface intensly ugly) but now I'm going to be put out of buisiness?!!! C'mon APPLE!! I've only owned apple computers and products since 1998, and I'm thinking I may be FORCED to change now since there is an obvious and serious problem with the integrity of their OS updates as of late.
    Whew, now that I've vented, is anyone else having this problem? Any idea how to fix, short of uninstalling and re-installing EVERYTHING from an old backup BEFORE this latest update?

    Step 1
    Reset the System Management Controller,
    Step 2
    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Repeated iMac Problems, Display Issues now Kernel Panics

    I’m lost on what’s wrong with my 2008 iMac and I think I just have to bring it back into Apple for a third time to have it repaired. But something is obviously not working that is causing these issues.
    About a month ago, my computer began showing heavy pixilation, flickering images and the on-screen graphics. The computer appeared to keep working in the background from what I could tell so I came to conclusion that it must be the graphics card that’s failing and I’ll need to have it looked at.
    My 2008 iMac was custom-built by Apple with the Nvidia GeForce 8800GS that was offered as an upgrade option. There have been several posts on the display and graphics discussion board about that graphics card along with other postings other places about the problems the Nvidia GeForce 8-series had.
    The display problems I mention above would not happen immediately, it would happen as the computer warmed up and was used for 3-5 minutes.
    Anyway I brought my computer into Apple explained to them what I believed was the problem and the Apple Store technician agreed with me. Because I did not purchase AppleCare, it cost me $400 and a week without my iMac to have that card replaced.
    I got the computer back two weeks ago and everything seemed fine. It was working as it always had. I even was running SMC Fan Control in order to keep the computer as cool as I could (the Nvidia problem was related to overheating).
    But this morning, this is what I woke up to:
    http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/7436/photoijr.jpg
    The computer now has a semi-permanent pixilation when it starts up (as suppose to the pixilation 3-5 minutes into use). But more worrisome now is I cannot start up the computer without it going into a kernel panic. I tried resetting the PRAM, I tried starting in safe mode. The only thing I haven’t tried yet is booting from an external HD which I will try this evening (to hopefully isolate it if it’s hardware or a software problem).
    The Apple Hardware Test has been unhelpful. When it originally failed three weeks ago, the test showed nothing and this morning when I ran it (permanent pixilation and all), it showed nothing. I feel like if it was a software issue the pixilation would have disappeared during the hardware test because that’s not an OS-X based program.
    Here are my specs on this computer:
    2008 iMac 24" 2.8ghz Intel Core Duo, 4 gigs of RAM (Crucial Purchased, I have original sticks somewhere), 1 TB HD, Nvidia GeForce 8800GS.

    Hi, just to update you, I came home today and did a few things that didn't seem to solve my Mac's problems:
    - I booted up from my firewire "safe" drive that I keep a copy os x on to see if I had a corrupted hard drive or something. It booted into the kernel panic I described above.
    - I also swapped out the crucial RAM for Apple's factory RAM. It also booted into the Kernel Panic.
    In both incidents, the display issues didn't go away. Now instead of pixelization i have vertical bars running in a pattern across my screen.
    I'm currently trying to boot onto the OS X CD at this point to see if I could do a reinstall. It's taking quite awhile to boot into that.
    With that in mind, I think we're still having graphics card issues or more seriously some logic board problem.
