Us... than europe... than asia...

it may hae been already asked but im quite confused searching things in this forum (and a bit lazy)...
well, correct if im wrong.. but i got the feeling that ive seen in one of job's keynotes the dates iphone is going to be intriduced in other markets... europe in 2008 and asia 2010... what about other places??? such as australia and south america??? as long as i know none of these places has at&t coverage... how people (including myself) will be able to use an iphone??? i just cant afford international roaming... and pay $500... $600 for a tochscreen ipod is not acceptable...

Hi all.
(I) just hope that the success of the iPhone in US would "spur" the speeding up of a (true) European launch and then Asia. I am still quite optimistic that the iPhone should arrive in Asia in 2008, if not late 2008.
I think the phone market/industry is a bit different from that of a computer/PC market, think the "market pace" for phone is even faster. (New) phone models come and go, and I think Apple knows that and cannot afford to delay their intended launch too long, unlike their OS and iPod, which are one of a kind. Or else other phone model would just "win" and take over, i.e. the consumers' "heart" and pockets/wallets
So I am crossing my fingers now... I am holding on to my Nokia N80 till the iPhone arrives.
Cheers

  • Will a flash movie affect how searchable my website is in Europe and Asia?

I have a legal website - http://www.hilfandhilf.com.  I practice immigration law, and I want to incorporate foreign language videos to build my clientele in Europe and Asia.  I want to make sure what I incorporate is compatible worldwide, and does not get relegated to a page where no one will view the videos I plan to create.  Any suggestions?

In that case shall we conclude that Nokia Lumia 521 will not be able to use 3G speed in India?

I would like to use my US Nokia Lumia 521 unlocked by Tmobile  when travelling in Asia and Europe.  In each country we visit I wil buy a local prepaid SIM.  Hopefully I could use the phone for voice and 3D data, and tether my notebook.  The Lumia 521 specs are:
    WCDMA network: 850 MHz, 1900 MHz, 1700 - 2100 MHz
WCDMA max data speed DL: HSDPA - 21.1 Mbps
WCDMA max data speed UL: HSUPA - 5.76 Mbps

Am I correct in assuming I will not have any problems with the voice portion?  Looking at the frequency bands, will 3D be possible or only EGPRS or something else?
As far as I can tell all the wireless carriers in Europe and Asia use Lumia 520 with what looks to me like different data frequency bands:  WCDMA network: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz

  • Comparing the Tax procedures of Europe and Asia

    Hi
There is a requirement for me to compare and produce an analysis report on the Tax procedures followed by Europe and Asian Countries.
As i have not worked much in this area,i have no clues as of where to start from. Out of my own study i have gathered the following info :-
    a) A tax procedure would be defined for every country :- But here we have so many condition types ( more than 20 for each country) and moreover they differ from each other.
In the above case how should we begin the analysis. Should we have to compare condition type by condition type ?
If so then it would consume a lot of time. Please advise.
    b) I feel that once this procedure is defined, almost three-fourths of the job is done.
The rest remains to assign a country and define the GL accounts for thr relevant ActKeys mentioned in the respective procedures.
But i wish to know the analysis part of the Tax procedure. Also how can i know that a particular country is following a specific Tax procedure. Is there any place where i can check this out ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi llona,
we are having the same situation that our Company Code is having its offices in almost all the countries.  So we have created Tax Codes with reporting countries in the same way you told that first character for type of tax and second character for reporting country.  Deductible/non-deductible is maintained in the description itself.  As per my knowledge it is the better way.

I'm currently in the US and looking to buy a (less expensive) unlocked e72 (North American version - NAM) - and bring it to the UK to pop in a SIM when I arrive.  I've gotten different answers from the Nokia USA people, and I'd like to know if this will work completely there - calls, SMS/MMS, 3G, HSDPA.  The sole difference looks like:
    E72-1 Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 900/2100 HSDPA (Euro)
    E72-3 Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/2100 HSDPA (NAM)

You left out the E72-2 Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/1900 HSDPA. This device will not give access to 3G networks in Europe and Asia. The E72-3 might give access to some 3G networks that use the 2100 MHz band.

  • Movie Rentals and Purchases on IPad - What's wrong with this?

Bought my very first Apple product...(IPad 64G WiFi only) last week.
I intended to use it just to keep me busy reading, watching movies, playing games, on all the long flights to Europe and Asia that I take.
So yesterday I excitedly set up an ITunes account, and downloaded 4 movie rentals, and purchased one other movie (Angels and Demons). All HD. I just figure I'd let it run all night and I'd see the movies the next morning.
The rentals all appear to have downloaded, and they show up in the videos section. HOWEVER, they are ALL marked "Expires in 17 hours". Never started watching any of them, why are they already set to expire? The rental info section of Itunes says I have 30 days to start watching, then 24 hours after that til they expire.
As for the purchased movie, th it appeared stuck on the "tap to retry" icon, which I did several times, with repeated errors, until the download icon simply disappeared and no sign of the dowload status or the actual movie anywhere.
I DID get billed for all of these. This is like 40 bucks worth of stuff.
Everyone who uses MAC stuff always brags about how great it is, how excellent customer service is, how things just "work", etc.
Color me WAY not impressed. No answers to my emails sent through ITunes help (yes, I checked spam folder) and no movies for my flight to China this weekend.
Any suggestions on things to change to make it work better next time? OR just buy a **** portable DVD player for 400 bucks less than an Ipad?

  • Unstable firewire hard drives performance in 220 volts countries

Over the years, I often travel back and forth to the US, Asia and Europe with my MacBook Pro and external firewire hard drives, which were purchased in the USA.  While in Europe or Asia, which generally runs on ~220 volts, I've had several experiences whenever I daisy chained more than 1 external firewire hard drive to my laptop, either the connection was very unstable, resulting in drives randomly unmounting; or my current dilemma where the 2nd drive is not mounting at all.  I never experience these issues at all while I'm in the US.  My guess is that the difference in voltage (110 vs. 220) or cycles (60 Hz vs. 50 Hz) is affecting the drives somehow.  I have experienced this with G-drives, and the Newertech Voyager Q and Wiebetech Traydock which are well built, reliable enclosures.  I pair the enclosures with Seagate or Hitachi drives.  All the enclosures' AC adapters specifically state that they're rated for 100-240 volts.  I thought hooking all my drives to a 2000 watt voltage transformer would solve the problem but it didn't.  Using 1 firewire drive is not a problem, but the daisy chaining seems problematic.  The dilemma is I MUST daisy chain the drives for backup purposes and just for general data wrangling.  Plus my MacBook Pro only has 1 firewire port.  My laptop and firewire port is not the problem, as I've upgraded several times over the years.
    My questions are:
    1. Has anyone else ever experienced USA drives acting funky in 220 volts countries?
    2. Anyone have an idea for a solution to this problem?
    Thanks so much,
    HL
PS. On perhaps a related note, when I plug my MacBook Pro into a 220 volts outlet and lay my wrists below the keyboard, there is a current or vibration that I do not feel when I'm in the US.

There is no difference in the power delivered to the computer or the drives, it's 12-15v wherever you are, and it's DC so there are no cycles, I think this is not the right tree you're barking up.

Where do I get the latest software, drivers and firmware?
Click the link Support > Downloads on this page.
In general, when installing on a new PC you need to download the driver, and some software to communicate with the player e.g. MediaSource, Media Explorer. For players using the v2.xx MTP/PlayForsure firmware drivers are not necessary, but you must have Windows XP and Windows Media Player 0 (this provides the MTP driver).
Important: Even though files are described as updates, none of the software requires a previous version to install. At worst they will prompt you to connect your player to verify you own a Creative product.
Note if you are downloading MediaSource make sure to download and install the relevant MediaSource plugin for your player. If MediaSource can't detect your player this is the first thing to check. For the v.xx PDE firmware the plugin is called the Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin for Creative MediaSource , and for the v2 MTP/PlayForSure firmware it's called Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices .
I am completely new to MP3 players, where should I start?
Have a read of my Nomad Primer, so called as Creative's MP3 player range tend to be prefixed with the word Nomad.

I'm having connection problems with my player
If you can, the best test is to try your player with another PC, to see if you still have the problem. This localises whether the problem is with the PC (most likely the USB) or the player. See the link below (search on "connection problems") for a lot more troubleshooting on this.
What bit-rate should I encode my music at?
Ultimately it's down to your ears what bit-rate you prefer, and you should listen for yourself to determine it. If you ask on the forum you'll get many different opinions.
Make sure to look at the "MP3 vs. WMA" link below also.
How long should my battery last?
For the Zen and Nomad Jukebox players, to get some idea of how long your battery will last for a given bit-rate look at the battery curves thread. Ultimately battery life is dependent on how you use the player, make sure to follow the "why doesn't my battery last as long as expected?" link below.
How long does an RMA take?
Typically 2 weeks. But it might take a little longer, so don't start posting if it's 5 days.
I want to know how people feel about their Zen Micro/Touch/MuVo etc.
There's a long post titled Experience with your Creative player that has many posts from users about their players. Please search back for threads about specific players before starting a new thread.
Where can I buy online music or get legal downloads for my player?
    See this thread.
My tracks don't play at the correct speed e.g. they play too slowly, why?
Chances are they are encoded in an unsupported sampling frequency. The tracks will need to be re-encoded at a supported bit-rate and/or frequency with something like Creative's MediaSource Audio Converter or dbPowerAmp.
Can a Creative player work on an Apple Mac?
It isn't officially supported, but some kind folks out there have written freeware applications to get your Creative player working with Macs. XNJB provides support for the Zen players, and requires OS X 0.3 or 0.4 (check the site for full details). MuVoHelper solves some problems with getting the MuVo to work optimally. The iTunes Zen plugin should support all Zen players. Note if the link to the plugin is broken just Google "iTunes Zen plugin" to find other sources. Also note there's no guarantee that these programs will work with the Mac, so if you have issues you should address your problems to the developer(s) of the relevant program.
Can a Creative player work on Linux?
Again it isn't officially supported, but again some kinds folks out there have written freeware applications to get your Creative player working. There's the Gnomad2 project. And don't forget the Linux forum at Nomadness.net if you are still having problems.
    Tag Based Players
This section covers the players that use a hard disk and work using tags e.g. Zen Xtra, Touch, Micro, Sleek.
My Zen is not behaving properly, won't startup, or goes into rescue mode. What should I do?
If the Zen is not starting properly or not behaving correctly, first try to reset it. To reset all players except for the Zen Micro there is a small switch on the side of the player typically, that you should press using something like a bent paper clip. Don't use anything sharp. To reset the Zen Micro simply remove the battery and replace it.
If this doesn't work then access rescue mode, and try running a disk cleanup.
Next you should try reloading the firmware/OS, but beware if you are having connection problems also with your PC you may end up with a player that has no firmware and cannot be reloaded.
The last resort is to format the player. This will erase the contents from the player, including the content that ships with the player.
If none of these resolve the problem and you are under warranty you should get in contact with support to arrange replacement of the player.
If you aren't under warranty Creative will still repair the player, which you can arrange by contacting support.
How do I do a Disk Cleanup and/or access Rescue/Recovery Mode?
Refer to the sticky Rescue Mode thread. Disk Cleanup is accessed from this. Note that the MuVo players (with the exclusion of the MuVo? players) do not have Rescue Mode.
How long should a Disk Cleanup take?
It should only take a few minutes, and no longer than 30 minutes. Anything longer than this and there is a problem with the player and you need to contact Creative Support.
How long should a format take?
Only a few seconds. Anything more than a minute and there is a problem with the player and you need to contact Creative Support.
Although I can get into Rescue Mode, I can't select any option, or the options don't work?
If Rescue Mode is not working properly or commands can't be chosen the player is faulty. You need to contact Creative Support.
When are the Zen 20Gb/Neeon going to be released outside of the Asia Pacific region?
Due to popular request the Neeon is launched in the USA, but nowhere else for now. If you want the Neeon then contact your regions Customer Services to request it.
The Zen 20Gb is available from some shops in the USA and Europe e.g. Cambridge Soundworks, and Amazon.co.uk.
Is there a known issue with the Zen Micro headphone socket?
Creative Support have neither confirmed nor denied it officially. Some users have posted purported emails from Creative on the forum saying that the socket has been reinforced, but these have not been confirmed by Creative Support either. The exact incidence of the problem is unknown, but newer players seem to suffer less from it.
Should I buy the Zen Micro or Touch etc. and what colour should it be?
We can't tell you what player to get, or what colour it should be. Look at your collection size and the features of the player (see Nomadworld.com for the product pages) and decide yourself based on this.
Why does my Zen Micro battery drain so quickly?
The standby time (24 hours from turn-off) for the Zen Micro seems to use a lot more power than previous Zens. Creative have released both v (..0+) and v2 (2.20.05+) firmware that reduces the standby time to 4 hours. Make sure to update to one of these if you have a draining problem.
Also see JazzMC's detailed page on this problem.
Why is my Zen Micro/Touch Touchpad so sensiti've and/or difficult to use?
The Touchpads take some time to get used to.

  • How to refresh list item values before report is run?

We have two SELECT LIST items (drop boxes) on our report. One SELECT LIST has values of "World Region" (e.g. NORTH AMERICA, SOUTH AMERICA, EUROPE, ASIA)
the other SELECT LIST has values of "Subregion" (e.g. NORTHERN EUROPE, SOUTHERN EUROPE, SOUTHEAST ASIA etc...)
The values in the Subregion list are dependent on the value that is chosen from the "World Region" List. Can someone tell up how to update the values in the Subregion list BEFORE we submit the page? We can get these values to update (via sql query) when the page is submitted but that is only happening after the report gets run- which is not what we want. We want the user to select a Region from one SELECT LIST and then see all the qualifying Subregions for that Region in the Subregion SELECT LIST. Only after both Region and Subregion have been selected do we want to run the report. Thank for any help on this.

    hey john--
john) things like Scott's reference to "The name of the LOV Item". What does this really mean?
raj) in htmldb there's a concept of items at the page and at the app level. page level items have ui component associated with them. in scott's explanation above, he's talking about using a page-level item with a "Display as" type of "select list w/submit" for your first select list. in that case, he's suggesting you have one select list item drive the values of another. when the self-submitting select list submits the page, it sets an htmldb built-in variable called :REQUEST to the name of the self-submitting select list item. in your follow-up post's example, that'd be "REGION_LIST". scott was explaining how you could control the functionality on your page by adding conditions to things like...
    :REQUEST = 'REGION_LIST'
...or using declarative Condition options like "Request = Expression 1" and then putting the string "REGION_LIST" in that Expression1 field. so in your case, you have a report region that you don't want displayed until the user's done selecting from your Subregion list. an easy way to handle that would be to add a hidden item (where "Display as" is set to "Hidden") to your page, for example :P1_LAST_REQUEST, to store the last value of :REQUEST. put a Computation on your page that populates :P1_LAST_REQUEST with :REQUEST each time the page is submitted. then put a Condition on your report region that makes it only render when :P1_LAST_REQUEST != 'REGION_LIST'. so this way your users can select a Region and have the page submit itself. the page will then redraw with the values of subregion list correctly populated (you'd presumably use :REGION_LIST in your subregion LOV query to achieve the filtered values) w/o your report region displayed. the user would then select a correct subregion and click some sort of "run my report" button. this time when the page redraws, :P1_LAST_REQUEST would be set so something other than "REGION_LIST" (it'd be set to whatever you named your "run my report button") and so your report region would display as desired.
    hope this helps,
    raj

  • How to use SIM card in Droid 2 Global?

So I have a Droid 2 Global because it has SIM card capabilities. I called Verizon to allow international roaming. Then I got the unlock code for my phone. Next I put a new-bought SIM card from China Mobile into my Verizon Droid 2 Global.
However, when someone calls my China Mobile phone number, my phone does not react. The caller hears a prerecorded message that the China Mobile phone number is incorrect or not connected.
When I call with my Droid 2 Global with the China Mobile SIM card inside, the receiving person sees my Verizon phone number.
My question is: How do I get my Droid 2 Global to recognize and use my China Mobile SIM card?
I don't want it to use my Verizon phone number while I am overseas. I like my Verizon service in the U.S., and I plan to return to it.  I just thought the idea of a global phone with a SIM card was to be able to travel to other countries and use another SIM card if need be, and the sales representatives at my local Verizon store sold me this idea of international usage. Other users seem to have no problem. Please inform me of how it works
    Thank you!

Hi mortb, thanks for your input.
However, that is not true about SIM cards. You can find accurate information about SIM cards through your search engine or even Wikipedia. SIM cards are meant to be swapped out. SIM cards are used in Europe and Asia more than the U.S. "The SIM card allows users to change phones by simply removing the SIM card from one mobile phone and inserting it into another mobile phone or broadband telephony device" (Wikipedia- SIM cards).
A SIM card holds the prepaid account value, telephone number, the user's address book, call logs, texts, etc. A lot of websites give the analogy: Say your phone is dead but you need to make a call. You can use your friend's cell phone with your SIM card and call. You won't be using your friend's minutes, but your own because you are using the minutes from your SIM card.
In my case, I want to use a local cell phone provider to make local calls. Theoretically speaking, I can do so if I swap out my SIM card for a local network's SIM.
Now Verizon locks all its phones to their Verizon SIM cards, so Verizon phones can only use Verizon SIM cards, but the Droid 2 Global allows you to unlock your SIM, meaning that you are going to put in another SIM card, aka another cell phone service provider.
So I am confused why I cannot use another carrier's SIM card. Can anyone explain why? Or what can I do to sync my China Mobile SIM to my Droid 2 Global?

  • Microsoft SQL server 2012 express

i recently downloaded ENU\x86\SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe and ENU\x86\SQLManagementStudio_x86_ENU.exe from microsoft SQL server 2012 from official download centre page. First i installed SQLEXPR_x86 (database engine) with mixed mode authentication, then i installed
management studio with new installation option rather than selecting add new features.after both the successfull installation i learnt that in the object explorer, expanding database+system database+master i dont have a table option to create
new tables as earlier found in sql 2005 and 2008 versions. in simple words i dont have a table designer to create table, i have to type the statments using query editor to create and do manipulations in the table. for your further help i want to
    tell you some related information:
1.i tried to get the table option with ENU\x86\SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe and ENU\x86\SQLEXPRWT_x86_ENU.exe without installing management studio as studio is already present in these packages. but still the problem persist.
2.i have windows 7 home basic installed on PC and windows 7 home premium on laptop both with service pack 1 with all the new updates.
3.after installation of sql server 2012 service pack, i thought problem might get solved but no.
i really need table designer feature.

    Hello,
It is simple : in SSMS , after having connected to your SQL Server instance, you should see in the left panel a TreeView with the name of your instance. Right-click on the name of your instance .I n the context menu , click on Facets ( 12th item just above
Start PowerShell ).You will open a new form labeled "View Facets" followed by the "full" name of your SQL Server. In the bottom left part , you should see view the connection string .Click on it.
If the name of your database is master , it means that you are connected to the master database . The master database is a system database in which you are not allowed to create a new table ( it is an essential database containing information essential to
the survival of your SQL Server ).See this link ( even if it was for SQL Server 2012, it is always valuable )
    http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/1420/sql-server-system-databases/
I would suggest to have a look at this link :
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187837.aspx ( special 2012 ) and especially the part recommendations.
As you have not yet created an user database , you connect automatically to the master database which is at least dangerous when you want to create a new table.
You have before to create a new database in which you will create your new table. It is what I have explained in my former post.
If you don't know how to create a new database, you have not posted in the good forum ( a curious habit from the original posters , maybe because they don't understand how to find the "good" forum but I recognize that I am often hesitating before finding
the most appropriate forum even if I am moderator since 6 years ). It is possible that I have not been clear enough but English is not my mother tongue ).
So don't hesitate to post again to obtain more help and explanations : this forum is full of highly-qualified persons always ready to help persons lost in SQL Server.
For me , you have 2 important steps :
    - create a new database
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms176061(v=sql.120).aspx
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms186312(v=sql.120).aspx
    - create a new table
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms174979.aspx
According to me , it is simpler to create a new database or/and table without using TRANSACT-SQL through the visual interface of SSMS
for a database : right-click on the Databases node of your SQL Server instance and click on Create Database
for a table : as soon as you have created your database , its name should appear in the list under the Databases node.
Click on the little + on the left of this name to expand the node related to this new database.
Right-click on the Tables node and choose New Table. You should arrive to a new form making relatively easy the creation of the table , more exactly , the structure of the table with its columns ( names and data types ).
Don't hesitate to post again if you need more help( it is what I am doing when I am lost ) : you will find always someone available to help you at any time as moderators/answerers are nearly from every continent at any hour of the day ( when USA is sleeping
, Europe and Asia are awake ... )
    Have a nice day
Mark Post as helpful if it provides any help.Otherwise, leave it as it is.

  • OAUG Responds to Oracle Proposal

An Open Letter to Mark Jarvis and Ron Wohl
    Mark, Ron
Thank you for setting out your proposal to the OAUG on AppsNet. It was useful to see it in writing, although, as you mentioned, it is largely similar to what was proposed and presented to our membership a year ago. As we had a teleconference a few hours before publication it would have been useful to have been given some advance notice of your plan to publish.
However as this has occurred I would like to clear up some errors and omissions in the document.
    1. You state that the OAUG would select 100% of the user papers. You omit to mention that would represent 25% of the total conference content, and that 75% would therefore not be user papers (as explained to us in the conference call at 9am PST yesterday, Wednesday 23 May).
    2. You state that no proposals were ever put forward by the OAUG board. In the 23 May conference call, just hours before your AppsNet posting, we had proposed that if you were able to support a Fall North American OAUG conference, we would be willing to collaborate with you in line with your proposals for the Spring in North America as well as in Europe and Asia Pacific.
    3. You state that you would be required to take 200 developers out of development for a week of OAUG, and before you know it we would have 400 Oracle employees engaged in each conference. Perhaps you had forgotten that a few hours earlier we had indicated that the level of support that we were requesting for the Fall conference was development staff to cover 55 sessions. Given that the next two Fall OAUG events are on the West Coast, even with travel and preparation time this represents about 120 people days, rather than the 2800 employee weeks that you refer to.
    4. Twice you state that there are going to be seven conferences in the next twelve months, and refer to four OAUG conferences. When you asked on the conference call if we would participate with you in Europe, we said yes, we would. When you asked where our venue was for Europe next year, we told you that in light of the current situation we had released it. When we discussed Asia Pacific we told you that we intended to hold our conference in Sydney, but that we did not believe that it would affect your conference in Singapore which is several months and several thousand miles away. We agreed that we would be willing to discuss the model in Asia Pacific with you, as you had indicated the possibility of an alternative style event. We were not clear how that would work. In addition, given our willingness to discuss the North American model, you were well aware that seven conferences in the next twelve months was most unlikely.
    5. You stated that for the past five years a majority of Oracle employees attending and staffing OAUG conferences were required to pay full attendance. I dont propose to count, but for the record, approximately sixty were free, any Oracle presenters above the sixty were free, and the conference workers paid a reduced rate to cover the costs involved, such as food. Any others who decided to attend did indeed have to pay.
It is hard for us to understand why it has been so difficult to bring this issue to closure. The OAUG Board understands that once Oracle had committed to its AppsWorld events for Spring 2001 that you were too busy to meet with us to discuss a longer term resolution, for example when we proposed a meeting with you in January. It was unfortunate that you were unable to meet the target date of meeting in March after your conference. We were pleased that we finally met on 30 April, and that we appeared to be making some progress in identifying issues and seeking to resolve them. It was disappointing that you had to postpone the agreed follow up meeting from the first week in May to 23 May, and that only then were you able to inform us that you had a deadline for just a week later.
We had sought to avoid going into details on the discussions in public, as we felt that might jeopardise progress. I am not clear what your purpose was in doing so. We continue to be disappointed by Oracles inability to compromise, and that after all of this time, this proposal so closely resembles the original proposal made last year. I would like to make quite clear what the OAUG has offered, and the flexibility that we have shown in being willing to move from the existing, successful model, to try to accommodate your valid needs to reach a wider audience.
The OAUG has proposed that :
7 The OAUG would be willing to collaborate with Oracle on their AppsWorld events in North America, if in return Oracle would participate in the OAUGs independent Fall North American conference to the extent of approximately sixty development staff.
7 The OAUG, in line with the majority of feedback received from European users, would be willing to collaborate with Oracle on their AppsWorld event in Europe.
7 The OAUG, after the Sydney Asia Pacific event which we have committed to in 2001, would be willing to collaborate with Oracle in their AppsWorld event in Asia Pacific, subject to clarification as to the form of that event.
I believe that is a more than reasonable proposal.
Given that Oracle decided to move these discussions into the public arena, that they did so in such an extensive way just a few hours after a discussion with the OAUG, and without giving any advance warning, I am forced to wonder whether Oracle are really negotiating in good faith in this matter
The OAUG has always stood for the independent voice of the user community. We have received consistent and clear feedback from our members that they wish have a forum for education and feedback which is, and can clearly be seen to be, independent from the Oracle message. We recognise Oracles marketing needs, and believe that our proposed compromise meets those needs, and the stated needs of existing users. If Oracle really had the interests of the users at heart it would not behave in this way. However such behaviour by Oracle only goes to reinforce the importance and value of a truly independent users group.

Have you tried putting something like Apache infront of the ORDS and have /ords setup in there to need http basic?

  • Have a HP 1220 printer - need it sa a wireless - bluetooth only option?

I'm considering using my HP 1220C printer as a wireless printer, what's the best option here? I currently have a netgear 834PN adsl wireless router.
I guess there's nothing available other than maybe a bluetooth device that can enable my printer to be wireless?
Anyone know what kind of performance I can expect to get?
    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi,
The Photosmart B110 do support AirPrint. Apple's document above do show the same as well ;-) :
    HP Photosmart Wireless e-All-In-One B110—Europe and Asia-Pacific
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
The behavior you describe may indicate lack of support for Multicast for your router, that may cause the printer not to be detected..
Try rebooting your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds, wait for 1-2 minutes, reboot both the pritner and the iOS device and try printing again.
If tthe same persists, it may help knowing your router brand and model to better understand its capabilities and suggest you any further steps.
