USAGE of Logical structure and authorization mode in CATEGORY MODELER

Hi,
I am trying to figure out the relevance and usage of the logical structure in the category modeler i.e. hierarchial or attributive. As per the description the hierarchial categorization should not allow duplictae categories but we are able  to create more than one category with same codes i.e. duplicate categories. Please let me know the difference in the functionality of the two category - logical structures.
Secondly I also want to know what is the usage of the authorizatio mode i.e. either OR or AND.
Thanks and Regards,
Jai Mishra

Hi Andrez,
Welcome to SDN. This is the standard way LO Cockpit works. The data source will be able to extract the load only from setup tables and then the deltas are based on the init based on the setup tables. I have not tried this. I am sure that you can extract data from R/3 into other datawarehouse systems (other than BW).
Instead of this standard LO way of extraction, what I would do is to write an interface program (RFC FM or BAPI) from R/3 which would read the data directly from the database tables and put them in a queue or put it in a common area as a file. The other DW system would pick up this and post them. If you have a middleware between your R/3 and the third part (dw) system, this becomes even simpler as the data transfer will be handled by the middleware. The deltas can be handled programatically based on the date and the time stamp. Think about this solution. Hope it helps.

  • KM Structure and authorizations

I am new to KM and i have the following task to complete.
    - Anytime Group of user A uploads a document, Group B can only Read the document and not write to it.
    - Group A can choose to publish documents for Group B, Group C or individual contact.
    - Absolutely anything posted by Group B or Group C is Readable/Writable by Group A.
    - Group B and C can publish documents to Group B and Group C or to individual contacts.
    Any direction is appreciated.

    Hi Faraz,
You should be able to achieve this just by adjusting the permissions as needed.
You can either manually have the user that uploads the document change the permission as required or (a better solution would be to) implement a repository service that changes the permissions once a document was uploaded. Such a repository service and a similar scenario to your requirement can be found here: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/bd8d1040-0901-0010-669d-c95d5a2bbcdf&overridelayout=true
Your scenario is more complicated, so you need to adjust the repository service.
It looks like you have to give group B read rights when a user from group A uploads a document, you have to remove all rights when a user from group B/C uploads a document, etc. In addition you need to set global permissions on the folders, like group A has full control and group B/C has write rights (that will be removed from the service after upload).
Have a look at the document that you can find with the link above and let me know if you have further questions.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • Separation of the physical and logical structures

    Hi,
I am very new to Oracle database administration. While reading Sam Alapati's book "Expert Oracle9i Database Administration," I came across the concept of the separation of an Oracle database’s physical storage structures from its logical storage structures. In particular, Sam states the following in his book:
“This logical defining of Oracle's database structure has another fundamental motive behind it. By organizing space into logical structures and assigning these logical entities to users of the database, Oracle databases achieve the logical separation of users (owners of the database objects, such as tables) of the database from the physical manifestations of the database in terms of data files and so forth.”
I am not quite convinced about the value this separation of the physical and logical really adds to the task of database administration. Considering the way DBASE worked, i.e. each table used to be stored as a separate file, what would be lost if Oracle’s implementation were similar and each table (i.e. file) were to be assigned to a particular user. I am not sure of the value added by storing the data from more than one table in more than one file, effectively resulting in a many-to-many relationship between tables and files. Please enlighten me. I would really appreciate it.
    Karim

and each table were to be assigned to a particular user. Don't know what you mean. In Oracle, every table has one and only one owner.
I am not sure of the value added by storing the data from more than one table in more than one fileIf an application has a thousand tables, would you rather manage 1000 files or 1?
In general, separating the physical from the logical allows the physical structure to change without affecting the logical (in theory at least). Even a table is a logical structure. We think of rows and columns, but it isn't stored the way we think of it. When we do a select statement, we don't have to write code to read each block, extract the contents, etc.
With partitioned tables, it is sometimes a good idea to split up partitions in such a way to get a performance gain. Like placing the most recent (and most queried) month of data on the fastest storage device. If you stuffed everything in to one gigantic file, you would lose that ability.
If you want to store each table as a separate file, you can do that with Oracle. For each new table, create a new tablespace, and then create a new file for the tablespace. Then come back to this forum in a year and tell us how it's going.

  • Assignment of Logical Structures to Users

    Hi,
I have a question regarding the assignment of logical structures to users of a database. The following is what Sam Alapati states in his book "Expert Oracle9i Database Administration:"
"By organizing space into logical structures and assigning these logical entities to users of the database, Oracle databases achieve the logical separation of users (owners of the database objects, such as tables) of the database from the physical manifestations of the database in terms of data files and so forth."
The question is what the unit of assignment is. Can a DBA assign an entire tablespace to a user, or is assignment done in units of segments? Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Karim

The question is what the unit of assignment is. TABLESPACE. Each user has a default tablespace, where his objects (tables, indexes) go if not differently specified. The DBA can assign quota of other tablespaces to any user.
Can a DBA assign an entire tablespace to a userNot directly, but the DBA can assign a quota (or unlimited quota) of a specific tablespace to a user only, and quota 0 to any other user, which practically means to assign the entire tablespace to that user.

  • Physical and Logical Structures of DB

    Hi all
Why datafiles are called physical structure of database and tablespace, segment etc are called logical structures of database as datafile is also a name given to memory area on disk drive ,therefore it should also be called logical structure

    user13345475 wrote:
as datafile is also a name given to memory area on disk driveNo it is not. There are no "+memory areas+" on disk. The closest to that will be a virtual memory page that has been written to disk (e.g. written to a raw swap device or to a swap file).
A physical disk itself does not have "memory areas" on the disk platters. The correct term would be "storage location". Memory areas exist in physical memory instead.
I suggest that you review your understanding of technical terms.

    Hello Experts,
I need a good document for learning Authorizations structuring and hierarchy in SAP BIW 3.5 . I am giving authorizations in BIW but do not hv conceptual nd fundamentalistic knowledge of SAP BW authorizations and its structure . Plz send a good document for learning BW authorizations .............................it may be an excerpt frm FU&FU guide. My Email Id is [email protected]
A short but complete SAP BW fundamentalistic , concepts and structure & hierarchy covering document is appreciated.
Requested to revert at earliest as this is very urgent.

    Hi maheshwari ,
    Use these steps for authorizations,
1.before going to authorizations u have to decide on which Infoobject u have to apply authorizations.
EX: SD--- Sales Org, MM -> palnt ,purorg,FI> companycode.
first u ahve to decide which area & on which Infoobject.
2.goto that Infoobject --> change there check the checkbox Authorization relavent object cahechbox
2.after that U Have to goto RSSM there u have to create authorization object
Ex: Zxxx ( XXX is Infoobject Name ).
    3. In the same transaction Screen u have Infocube selection radio Button check that then select on which cube(cube means under that cube all Quaries) u have to make authorization for that perticuler Infoobject.
4.next goto PFCG create role & save it
5.goto Authorization tab in that selct edit authorization it will give automatiaclly authorization Templates in that u have to select only S_RS_RREPU & press Enter.
    6. Select manual pushbutton it will ask authorisation object enter ur authorization object what u have created ( zxxx) .
    7.click generate +enter
    8. goto user tab Enter userId+enter + click on usercomparision+ enter
    9.save the role.
    FOR HIRARCHIES:
    1. goto RSSM There u have one rediobutton called authorization hierarchy ( this radio button is very below the RSSM screen)
    2. there u have to select Hierachy on which u have to apply authorization.
    Thanks,

  • POP capabilities are gotten in authorization mode, and not transaction mode

I am using Javamail in an email client that requires UIDL support for POP3 servers. There are some servers that return the UIDL capability only in transaction mode, not in authorization mode (eg. pop.aol.com). I am unable to connect to such servers once I upgraded to javamail 1.4.4, since it is now looking at the capabilities before executing the UIDL command. However, it gets the capabilities in authorization mode, and servers like the one above do not send the UIDL capability in this mode. If the capabilities were refreshed in transaction mode (once login was done), UIDL would be returned. This looks like a bug. Is there a workaround for this?

This definitely looks like a bug in AOL's server, please report it to them.
    RFC 2449 says:
A capability description MUST document in which states the capability
is announced, and in which states the commands are valid.
Capabilities available in the AUTHORIZATION state MUST be announced
       in both states.
If a capability is announced in both states, but the argument might
differ after authentication, this possibility MUST be stated in the
       capability description.
(These requirements allow a client to issue only one CAPA command if
it does not use any TRANSACTION-only capabilities, or any
capabilities whose values may differ after authentication.)
    6.8.  UIDL capability
       CAPA tag:
           UIDL
       Announced states / possible differences:
both / noThis says to me that the UIDL capability, if supported, must be announced in both states
and must not change between states.
You can set the session property mail.pop3.disablecapa to "true" to disable the use of the CAPA
command, which will cause it to assume UIDL is supported.

  • Authorization for Work center, logical links and components

    Hi Gurus,
Can authorization be given to Work centers, logical links and components.
    Thanks,
    Sarat.

It can be done using Authorization object UIU_COMP. it has 3 fields :
    Component Name
    Component Window Name
    Inbound Plug
Note : You can maintain authorizations based on components, WC pages, Direct links groups and direct links but not on views.
Authorization object for direct links : C_LL_TGT which has 2 field : Logical Link Type and Link Parameter
    Hope this helps,

  • I have East/West Symphony.  Will it work with Logic express and do I have to have that little red usb drive in the computer to authorize it?

    I have East/West Symphony.
Will it work with Logic express and do I have to have that little red usb drive in the computer to authorize it?
Also, would it work with Garageband??

Thanks-that's the same driver I'm using now.
The M-audio techs were unable to tell me if Quattro would work with LE8, so I've been wasting my time and money trying to make it work.
They also gave me conflicting opinions as to whether or not "tip" polarity was an issue when using an after-market adapter. One said definitely yes, one or two others said definitely no.
Their phone tech line has a 20 to 40 minute wait when I call. The online support system is confusing, which even they admit. I don't think my next interface will be from M-audio.
Thanks very much for the response, it helps me get beyond this phase.
Is the Quattro of any use for anybody else (i.e., can I sell it or give it away)?

  • Data Recover From Formatted Drive? What is the best program to use to get back Logic Projects and any other file type?

I was in the process of reorganising my hard drives so I could RAID them however I managed to corrupt one drive and had to format it which meant I lost all my Logic Files and some other files. I managed to save a lot of files (mainly video files) before I had to format the drive but I need a Data Recovery service that will not alter anything on the hard drive and will put all the formatted files (regardless of the type) back for me so I can get the rest of the ones I need.
    Thanks in advance.

    What about folders and such?
No. FS doesn't reconstruct folders. However, Data Rescue does, depending on how you use it. About the only thing in Data Rescue a Quick Scan ever seems to show you are files that are already live.
So that leaves you with a Deep Scan, or a Deleted Files scan. The first pass of a Deep Scan will attempt to retrieve folders and files, along with their original names. The second pass only looks for file patterns. Like recognizing a Photoshop .psd file. It will recover it, but give it a nonsense name. A Deleted Files scan only results in nonsense names of recognized file types; no folders.
What were you using File Salvage on? A hard drive?
Yes, though you can use it on a flash drive, or any other mounted drive.
At the moment it is estimating 289 hours remaining on a 1TB drive. Can it not go faster?
No, both of the software mentioned are slower than molasses in January. When you delete anything in Windows, its file table entry simply tagged as deleted. So to unerase them, the tag is removed. That's why it works to quickly and easily (assuming you haven't already overwritten the data to be recovered).
In OS X though, the whole idea of the underlying UNIX structure is all about security. It's not supposed to be easy to retrieve deleted items. When you delete items, their file table entries are erased. So the only way to find deleted items is to scour the entire drive for BOF (Beginning Of File) markers that don't have a matching starting block to anything that is in the file table.
Another question, half the drive was empty. Will it fly over that empty space or will it sieve through it incase there was some files stored on it?
If you use the Expert mode is FS, you can choose to do that:

  • How to get ADF authentication and authorization working on server

I am having an issue with deployment & ADF authentication and authorization.
From the below testing results, you can see that I am unable to log in when I have deployed my app to my standalone server with both ADF security authentication and authorization turned on. I have included web.xml, jazn-data.xml and the page/server error I am receiving.
When making an attempt to log in I get the following results:

    Read Frank's article http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2012/12-jan/o12adf-1364748.html
Then you have to check if the user use use to login are defined in the stand alone server. If you server is running in production mode there is no automatic user or role migration. You have to to this by yourself.
Once you have check that the users are present, you have to check if the enterprise roles are mapped to the corresponding application roles.

  • How to retrieve data using logical database and custom select options

    Hi all,
I have a selection screen which is displayed by logical database PSJ and I have two select options of my own. I need to retrieve data based on both selection screen of logical database and my own select options. How can I do it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hai Gupta
Check the following Document & Links
    1. A logical database is in fact
    a program only.
    2. This LDB provides two main things :
    a) a pre-defined selection screen
which handles all user inputs and validations
    b) pre defined set of data
    based upon the user selection.
    3. So we dont have to worry about from
    which tables to fetch data.
    4. Moreover, this LDB Program,
    handles all user-authorisations
and is efficient in all respects.
    5. tcode is SLDB
good info about Logical Database. you can check the link.

Functions for displaying and changing logical databases:
    Call Transaction SE36 or
Choose ABAP Workbench -> Development -> Programming environ. -> Logical databases
Interaction between database program and report:
During program processing, subroutines are performed in the database program and events are executed in the report.
To read data from a database tables we use logical database.
A logical database provides read-only access to a group of related tables to an ABAP/4 program.
    advantages:-
The programmer need not worry about the primary key for each table.Because Logical database knows how the different tables relate to each other, and can issue the SELECT command with proper where clause to retrieve the data.
    i)An easy-to-use standard user interface.
ii)check functions which check that user input is complete, correct, and plausible.
    iii)meaningful data selection.
iv)central authorization checks for database accesses.
v)good read access performance while retaining the hierarchical data view determined by the application logic.
    disadvantages:-
i)If you donot specify a logical database in the program attributes, the GET events never occur.
ii)There is no ENDGET command,so the code block associated with an event ends with the next event
statement (such as another GET or an END-OF-SELECTION).
    1. transaction code SLDB.
    2.enter name z<ldb-name>
    3.create
    4.short text
    5.create
    6. name of root node (here Ekko)
    7. enter short text (f6)
8.node type -> data base table.
    9.create
    10 change logical DB
riht click on ekko and insert node
    here node name ekpo
    11.create
    12. click on selections
    13. press no Should the changed structure of Z<ldb name> be saved first.
14.select tables which you want to join.
    15.transfer
16 now you have to o to coding part.
    17. save
    activate.
    19.click to src code
double click on first include and activate

  • Logical System and Client copy

    Hi Gurus ,
I just now finished ECC 6.0 successfully , I want to take the client copy . But i hacve one doubt , In client creation one TAB logical system is there , Kindly advice me how to create Logical system and steps .
    Regards
    Selvan

    Hi Manjula ,
Below i mentioned the full detail about the error .
RFC destination for client copy in systems with Financials Basis     (FINBASIS) component.
The system could not find any suitable RFC destination for processing     for client 000.     This note also appears if an RFC destination was found but this does not     work.     o   RFC destination: FINBTR@ID3CLNT000     o   Error text: Error during the retrieval of the logon data     Proceed as follows to eliminate this error:
    1.  Start the wizard to create a new RFC connection     or perform the following steps manually:     1.  Create an RFC destination with the target ZK>source client of client         copy (in this case 000).
    2.  Check whether the RFC destination works in transaction SM59.         To avoid errors when assigning the password or the authorizations of         the RFC user, use the authorization test Test -> Authorization.
    3.  Enter the RFC destination:         -   Transaction: FINB_TR_DEST (Destinations for Transport Methods of             the Financials Basis)         -   Client: 000
    4.  Start the client copy again.
    Kindly advice me
