Use of compression & Aggregates

Hi All,
Please provide me the appropriate use of compression & aggresgates.
1. What is use of compression and how it relates to compression?
2. How to delete the data after doing compression?
3. How the aggregates improve the performance?
Regards
Dude

Hi Dude,
1. What is use of compression and how it relates to compression?
Ans: Usually we keep on loading the data to a data targets increases the number of requests in that particular data target. This will consume more database space and also effects the querry performance. To avoid these problems it is recommended
to compress the requests.
when we compress the requests all the requests will disappeared from the cube, shown as one request. Means all the requests are suppressed as one requst.
2. How to delete the data after doing compression?
Ans: hen we compress the requsts the data will be loaded to
E-Fact Table from F-Fact Table.
Once request is compressed we can not delete or modify a request. SO, before to perform compression we have to make sure taht no modifications are necessary. After compression if we reqired to delete data we can do so by doing "Selective Deletion"- Which we can perform form Performance Tab stip of Manage sceen of cube.
3. How the aggregates improve the performance?
Ans: when ever we load data to a cube will be maintained in
F-Fact Table. we will create aggregates to improve the query performance. when we perform Rollups the data in F-Fact Table will be loaded to E-Fact Table. Data in E-Fact Table will be stored in more organised format with proper indexing mechanism improves the querry performance.

  • How do i use parallel compression for 4 drum tracks in Logic pro 7.2.3 Please

how do i use parallel compression for 4 drum tracks in Logic pro 7.2.3 Please. my version is 7.2.3 and my son did his drums on 4 tracks. 2 OH's 1 Kick and 1 Snare. Were confused because we cant figure out how to do parallel compression on the older logic version 7.2.3?

I can't remember when the Aux tracks became the new buss tracks, so I'll spell this out using busses.
The way I do it, is I assign all my drum tracks to a buss, say buss 1.
Then, on buss 2, I assign it's INPUT to buss 1.
So buss 1 (all the drums) are feeding into buss 2 simultaneously.
Put a compressor on buss 2, turn the fader down all the way, then as the track is playing, bring buss 2's fader up slowly, until you hear the effect you're after.
You could also do this using sends on the 4 drum tracks, set to feed the buss with the compressor on it.
I hope I haven't forgotten anything particular to that version of Logic. See if this helps...

  • How can I use User-Defined Aggregate Functions in Timesten 11? such as ODCI

    Hi
we are using Timesten 11 version and as per the documentation, it doesn't support User-Defined Aggregate Functions.
So we are looking for alternatives to do it. Could you please provide your expert voice on this.
    Thanks a lot.
    As the following:
create or replace type strcat_type as object (
    cat_string varchar2(32767),
static function ODCIAggregateInitialize(cs_ctx In Out strcat_type) return number,
member function ODCIAggregateIterate(self In Out strcat_type,value in varchar2) return number,
member function ODCIAggregateMerge(self In Out strcat_type,ctx2 In Out strcat_type) return number,
member function ODCIAggregateTerminate(self In Out strcat_type,returnValue Out varchar2,flags in number) return
    number
How can I use User-Defined Aggregate Functions in Timesten 11? such as ODCIAggregateInitialize ?

    Dear user6258915,
You absolutely right, TimesTen doesnt support object types (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13085_01/doc/timesten.1121/e13076/plsqldiffs.htm) and User-Defined Aggregate Functions.
Is it crucial for your application? Could you rewrite this functionality by using standart SQL or PL/SQL?

  • Error message: 'Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card' - then - 'Error. Out of memory'

Hi all. This is a new error I've never seen before.
It's stopping me doing anything at all really.
As soon as I start up FCP and click on a sequence I get this message: 'Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card.'
Then I click on OK and it says 'Error - Out of memory.'
I've heard rumours that it could be the fact I'm using a strange type of JPEG, but it still happens with PNGs.
I've made sure my scratch disks are all going to the right place. I also have 100gb of free space.
The version of FCP I'm using is 6.0.5. I'm using an iMac with OSX 10.4.11 (yes, I know it's old!) and I've downloaded the latest version of Quicktime.
Help, anyone? I have an assignment due in tomorrow.
    Many thanks...

p.s. having looked at other posts, perhaps I am missing some (or all) of the relevant codecs?
In the folder Macintosh HD > Library > Quicktime
there is basically nothing. Do you think this is the problem?
If so, where do I download FCP codecs from?
    Many thanks..

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file
    How do I fix this?

That would probably be a question best taken up in on a site for Windows support questions. Not knowing anything about the movie you're trying to play, all I can suggest is to confirm that the format of the movie you wish to play is supported in your version of WMP. If it isn't, you'll either need to convert the movie or use some other player software.

  • BUG?  Invalid use of an Aggregate Calculation

    Please Help:
I am trying to create a mandatory Filter in a BU that is
    COUNT_DISTINCT(ID) > 3;
When Mandatory an error pops up:
Invalid use of an Aggregate Calculation
If Optional filter works and can be used in a workbook.
This should be allowed. The filter will require that all rows be based on at least 4 Individuals (required for privacy) and no single individual be retrieved.
    Is this expected behavior?
    Thanks

Unfortunately you cannot use analytic functions in Mandatory conditions, you can see this in the Oracle Discoverer Administrator Administration Guide, I'm copying what is documented and the complete reference:
"When you create a condition based on an analytic function (i.e. a function that computes aggregate values based on a group of rows), you must designate the condition Type as optional. If you choose mandatory, a message is displayed informing you that analytic functions are not allowed in mandatory conditions."
"What restrictions apply to aggregate calculated items?
When creating aggregate calculated items, note that a number of restrictions apply to aggregate calculations. Aggregate calculated items:
cannot be used in a mandatory condition
    From:
    Oracle® Discoverer Administrator
    Administration Guide

    Chapters:
    11. Creating and maintaining conditions, page 11-6
    10. Creating and maintaining calculated items,
Section: What restrictions apply to aggregate calculated items?, page 10-4
A way to workaround this, could be creating a view in the database based on the select count distinct, then create a folder in your Bussines Area using that view and create the Mandatory condition based on that Folder.
Let me know if you have any additional questions regarding this.

  • Windows 10 TP - Build 9879 - WIMBoot incompatibilty - "Windows can't be installed because this PC uses a compressed operating system."

Ran into an issue installing the W10 TP today; currently using a laptop who's manufacturer load up windows 8.1 using WIMBoot to save space on the SSD.
Because of WIMBoot, the W10 installer detects that "Windows can't be installed because this PC uses a compressed operating system."
This means that, short of redoing my Windows Install from scratch, I have no way to install the W10 TP, either through the ISO or through Windows Update.
Any chance that this will possible in a future build?

Wimboot needs an image file, that HP uses with Windows8.1 + Bing on
    Stream 7 tablet & HP stream laptops11.6" & 13.3"
Hp turned windows 8.1 into image file for using 32gb sd storage
windows 10 until finalised will not be an image file
    bye retired techie
This is quite unhelpful, as I am in the same boat on an HP Stream 11, and many others are in this boat as well
According to the System Requirements page for the latest technical preview, Windows 10 is unsupported on
all 16GB WIMBoot devices,  but only incompatible on
some 32GB WIMBoot devices, thus seeming to imply that some WIMBoot devices are indeed compatible.
The question is, why are some WIMBoot devices upgrade compatible while others are not? And is it possible to work around this limitation while retaining the WIMBoot configuration and user data, as an option for advanced users?
Furthermore, Windows 10is an image file (install.wim is what's used to install, refresh, and restore Windows). WIMBoot devices, from my understanding, use the install.wim (which currently contain the Windows 8.1 OS) in
a read-only mode, only applying updates and changes as files on the C: drive (so any updated files are located on C: and the originals within install.wim ignored?). Problem is, there has yet to be any explanation from Microsoft, for OEMs or consumers,
on how WIMBoot devices are to be upgraded in the future, as WIMBoot was only introduced with Windows 8.1, and so there hasn't been any major consumer releases of Windows that these devices would upgrade to.

  • "Windows can't be installed because this PC uses a compressed operating system"... on an ASUS Zenbook 303LA??

    Hi folks,
I've seen a few threads about this WIMBoot issue installing Windows 10 TP on devices with smaller drives (under 32 GB), but I just bought a brand new ASUS Zenbook 303LA with 128 GB, and I'm getting the same error.
Is it not possible to install the W10 TP on any drives with WIMBoot, regardless of size? Has anyone run into this problem, or can anyone think of any other reasons why the install wouldn't work?
(Side note: there's no disc drive for creating a DVD to boot from, and I don't have a USB larger than 2 GB, so that's out too)
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to compress aggregate only

    Hi
we have process chain  which got failed because of activation of ods. I done it manually and this ODS is updates further two cube.
Both Cube is having setting  "compress after Rollup" as we are only compressing aggregates of those cubes .
After Further update , data from ODS to Cubes has gone.
Then I done manuall aggregate rollup.
In that One cube is done successful Rollup + compression of aggregate.
Another is done successful Rollup + unsuccessful Compression of aggregate.
Could you please let me know how do I compress aggreage for the anotehr cube manually.
    Waitng for reply.

the only "standard" options are then:
    - delete, reconstruct and rollup this request making sure the compress indicator is SET.
    - reactivate an refill this aggregate (also make sure to have the compress indicator SET); this will depend of course how big is your ICube...
Another Option would be to kick the following function module RSDDK_AGGREGATE_CONDENSE, however it works only under certain circumstances an it's quite tricky... I recommend to go standard...
Should you decide going with the FM please do that first in a DEV sys
    hope this helps...

  • SAP Java lib for SOAP: is there any chance to use HTTP-compression?

We use 3rd party web service in java, they plan to use HTTP-compression to save the bandwidth. At the moment I have no idea how to turn it on in SAP Java libs for SOAP.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi Kirill,
HTTP-compression is something, which occurs at the HTTP protocol level (transparent and below the SAOP protocol) and is controlled by HTTP protocol headers.
To enable HTTP-compression, you will "somehow" have to manipulate the http layer of the SAP SOAP stack.
Good starting point to look for further information is the NWDS help. Use the search topics "header compress".

  • What kind of a program did HP company use to compress its Software?

    Hi,
I have noticed that some Most HP software can be downloaded as standalone programs  which are  compressed files (like what is in this screen shot below)  which will need to be extracted before being installed?
Thus, I am wondering what kind of Data compression do those files have? I didn't see that WinRAR, WinZip or other achieving programs recognised such files.
When I open compressed file above, then it was extracted into a folder called 'swsetup' in this path C:\swsetup
My question is What kind of program did HP company use to compress those files?

    Huffer wrote:
I believe it may be a .tar file. I am able to extract the files in the SP file in Linux using good old tar gunzip into its various components. It is turned into a self-extractor which runs as a DOS executable.
    Thanks a lot,
I am using a Windows 7 Home premium 64Bit, I have built-in Winzip with Windows 7. Also, I have a WinRar a third-party archiving program be installed on my windows. But neither of them recognised the HP compressed files, or otherwise the look of HP compressed file would look like 'WinRaR' icon.
Yes, when I clicked on that File name(softpaq): sp68201-V(7.4.45.4), I saw that file was extracted into a folder called 'swsetup' under this path C:\swsetup', Then the setup showed to me.  However, I still don't know what program extracted that compressed HP file? Could you kindly enlighten me?

  • How to use lz4 compression for RAW file inside DNG ?

I know DNG supports zip compression. However, I want to use lz4 compression, as I am saving the file in realtime, and I cannot see any zip library matching the performance of lz4 for 16-bit RAW.
In my case this is 12-bit data with 4 bits set to zero.

Is there a study that compared the encoding speeds of the 3 algorithms available for RAW files ?
    LZW, Packbits, Deflate.
I think Lossless JPEG can also work with 1 plane setting.
Also, looking at the dng_validate code, and the calls to relevant libraries, I see that the code seems to deal only with byte boundaries.
Are any of these algorithms optimized for 10,12,14-bit RAW data ?
I am trying to encode 203 MBps of data. Intel IPP would be an option, but its obviously nicer if DNG SDK can provide whats needed for free with some tweaking.
