User Problem

Ok I posted around 3 weeks ago about poor xbox live connection when my step sister is on her laptop and also slow buffering of youtube videos when she is in. I was told to ask for an SNR reset, I did so and it improved my internet speed by 1 meg. It is now around 3.5, see speed test.
However, this still hasn't sorted the problem. My xbox live is fine to play when my step sister is not in, my brother or any other family members can be on the internet without lag but as soon as she turns her laptop on, the connection fluctuates massively. I've queried her and can confirm she is not streaming/downloading/uploading. I'm really not sure why her laptop has such a huge impact on the network but it's getting so frustrating when gaming. I also recently upgraded my router but this has made no difference. Please help !

you need to get to the wireless settings in your hub it sounds like your step sisters laptop could be wireless n if that is the case then it would take priority for the speed changing to g will even the connection out to all devices

'Unknown user' problem in Guest account

Hello.
Remember the unknown user problem in the Finder that plagued everyone that upgraded from Tiger? Thanks to someone on these boards' AppleScript, I managed to fix that for my account eventually and get it changed to staff for every file and folder.
However, I just checked out my Guest account in Leopard, and when I do a Get Info on the home folder, the public folder and the sites folder, the unknown user still appears.
What do I need to do to fix this?
Would reinstalling Leopard sort it out by the way? I don't want to do it because it would create countless hassles, but is there a way of reinstalling Leopard that lets me keep my own home folder and applications while killing all the permissions problems?

Does it properly refuse authentication ? Or does the login page stop appearing or something ?
There was a bug with the webauth dying under heavy load, regardless of number of identical accounts used.
One good way for you to check would be, when problem occurs, to create a second backup guest user and see if that would start working. If it doesn't, the account is not the problem.
I'm not aware of any maximum of usage of the same account.

mostly u will problem related to Absences and absence quotas updation and some time u may get worng reports when u take reports
End user problems means it depends upon the nature of the functionality which he works
so check Time Related infotypes functionalities and their configuration issues

Itunes/Ipod with multiple Vista users - Problem

To set the stage - new Vista PC, shared by the family - so I set up individual ID's (thought that would prevent my kids from corrupting our stuff). Oh, and thought Vista was compatible.........
On the admin account, which is where the iTunes Library is linked, it sees my iPod but says it is in the process of "recovery" - even after accomplishing the restore process - this message comes up right away. But, lo and behold, on my daughter's ID, the iPod is recognized sucessfully (and what is weird is that iTunes wasn't even installed on her account (i had to go through the Q&A process) but the iPod was seen just fine. I can sync the iPod to her library, but even after exiting nicely, and logging off her ID, when I go to mine (admin), I get the same message/problem.
Any hints/help?

. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
Tips
a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iTunes 7.
b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”

NEW Macbook user - problems with Flashdrive USB file transfer

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I am a new Mac user, I have just started with a macbook and the latest Leopard software. I have a problem in that I save my Word docs (created or worked on with Office for Mac) on a flashdrive/USB pen and then take the pen to college where I work on the word docs on a Windows XP system. When I open the USB drive I have 'ghost' files on there which don't appear on the USB when inserted in the Mac. They are either temporary files of the ones I worked on or are named ._.TemporaryItems and .-.Trashes. So far I have just deleted these. I'm worried that they are required for something on the Mac and although the files aren't large, around 4KB, I don't really want them on the USB incase they damage the other files. I'm working on a huge thesis right now and can't risk any files being damaged. I rang customer support and was told to format the USB, update the Pages software (even though I said I was using Office for Mac) and that there might be a virus on the USB. After all that i still get these same temp files appearing. Can anyone help? I am pretty illiterate with computers so not confident running codes/formatting.
As an aside - does anyone's Macbook cover attract dust over night? Mine attracts a nice grey layer as if by static - weird!

Those additional files are perfectly normal. They are OS X system files... They are typically hidden when you use OS X... but since you are using a format that both Macs and PCs can read, Windows will usually see these files. You can leave them there or delete them... no harm either way.
So far as your dust issue. If you are getting a layer of dust that covers your MacBook overnight... it sounds like you may not be in the best environment. Are you saying you get a layer of dust on your MacBook... but nothing else?

Forwarded successfully the workitem for BO-BUS2000220(complaint) in the worklist of other user: Problem in "Sent date" not reflecting correctly in SAP CRM 7.0 Web UI

I am working with SAP CRM 7.0. We have a workflow in the system which is triggered at the creation of complaint(BO:BUS2000220) and then assign the complaint workitem
in the woklist of specified agent. I have created a report and scheduled it daily to forward the complaint into the worklist of user B from worklist of user A after 7 days
from creation date of complaint. But the problem is that the forwarded complaint is showing in the worklist of user B with sent date(the creation date of complaint, not the
forwarded date).

There is a standard column in UWL with name 'Sent Date'. Other functionalities in UWL for example deadline monitoring (Due date column) are based on this sent date. This shows an employee what was the date workitem was created (sent date) and when it will get escalated (due date). Displaying forwarding date in Sent date will not give clear picture to employee as the deadline will be calculated based on sent date only not based on forwarding date. this was just an example.
even though if your client is insisting, i dont think it can be done without any enhancement in UWL web dynpro com sort of thing. you can check with your portal consultant too.

Terminated by user problem in incomming idoc while creating the sales ord

This is a file to idoc issue.
Idoc basic type: ORDERS03
When an SO is created by an incoming idoc, problem comes with status u201Cterminated by useru201D with 51 status.
When we tried to post this issue in BD87 t.code the document posts with out any issue.
We are not able to create this issue in Quality box as well,
Experts let us know if you have ever faced such problem in user system.

"Terminated by user" means what it says. Someone has physically interrupted processing of the IDoc. That's all there is to it.

Mac OS X Server 10.4.10-11 client user problems

It appears that since updating to Mac OS X Server 10.4.10 (and now 10.4.11), running on an XServe G4 with 2GB of RAM, QuarkXPress Passport 6.5 (and also 6.52) crashes at the splash screen when newly created network users launch it on client computers running OS X 10.4.8, 10.4.10 and 10.4.11. QuarkXPress runs fine when logged in as the computer owner with administrator rights.
Users created under Mac OS X Server 10.4.8 do not have this problem and are able to launch QuarkXPress 6.5 or 6.52 without a problem on these same computers.
Quark license verification is supplied by a QLA 4.5 server running on a seperate computer to the OS X Server system.
Can anyone give me any pointers as to what may be causing the crash? A couple of extracts from the crash log are listed below - the full log is available if anyone can decipher it:

Have you tried repairing privileges and permissions on the affected clients?
You could also try creating a new admin account on the affected clients and logging in with that. Launch Quark and see if it behaves the same way. If it does not then its more likely some damaged/corrupted plist or preference in the primary admin account’s Home/Library/Preferences folder.
It could also be down to a damaged/corrupted font or Xpress Preferences file. Running the 10.4.10/11 update could be a red herring and its just coincidence that the issues you are seeing happened after the update. Generally an application crashes on launch or when opening a file because its had a problem building the font list or trying to access/load a font when the file has been requested. If your Font Management system is Suitcase remove the Suitcase Preferences folder from /Users/Home/Library/Preferences and restart the mac. Hopefully Quark should now launch. Redefine font sets from there. Quark keeps its Preferences file in /Users/Home/Library/Application Support/Quark.
Of course it could be none of these in which case start looking at drive/directory issues or possibly system issues. You may be looking at an Archive/Reinstall of the OS or Reinstall of the application. Don’t rule out a rebuild either.

New user: Problems placing text over object

Hi,
I have recently started using InDesign CS5 to produce the biannual magazine for a volunteer organisation. My background is not in this area, so please excuse me if I do not use correct terminology or am asking something obvious. Having said that I have been very impressed with the ease of the programme to use for what we need.
I am having a problem with the document I am currently working in, however if I place the same elements in a different document things are ok, so I know it is something I have accidently done, but after a lot of playing around I am at a loss.
My issue is when I place an Object (a photo for the cover) and then try to place text over the top the text disappears on the object, however can be seen when you take it off it. You see the text box with the red cross mark in the bottom right corner. If you ask to "bring to front" nothing happens. Same if you try it using the photo. Oher objects (logo) can be placed on top of the photo. I have tried using Layers, but to no success.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Outlook users' problems with Apple mail attachments

Folks on Windows XP using Outlook 2003 are having problems with email from Apple mail. Apple mail is using Windows Friendly Attachments and Rich Text as the settings. Sometimes attachments (Word, Excel, PDF) come in fine with an additional .htm attachment, but the body text of the message is missing. If the Outlook user opens the .htm file, there is the body of the Apple mail. Testing with Plain Text results in the body text appearing fine in Outlook, but the attachment is seen as a *.dat file and of course can't be opened. The Macs are all on OS X Tiger with all OS updates applied. Users of Outlook in other offices don't have this problem, and users of Thunderbird on Windows don't have this problem. Any ideas on what is causing this and how to resolve it? Is there a setting on Outlook that needs to be tweaked? Is there a setting on Apple mail that needs to be tweaked? Apple mail attachments to this Windows office worked fine until a few weeks ago. I do not know what changed between then and now as I am not in charge of the computers at the Windows office. Could a Mac OS update have caused a problem? Something on Windows or Outlook specifically? Thanks for any help you can provide. I've scoured the web and have tried everything to no avail. Zipping attachments, while a workaround, is not a long-term solution. Thanks!

Is this in an environment where an MS Exchange Server is being used? Seeing a file change to .dat would often point to that.
Plain Text should be the plan of action for users of Apple Mail, but something (probably the Exchange Server) is messing that up. See:

Moving to Leopard would probably not solve this -- the administrator of the exchange server must act.
Also the problem with winmail.dat files is known to impact other email clients used even on Windows computers.

Create new transaction (Business Activity) and assigned to user Problem

We already have the business activity with in T-code : CIC0, The transaction is ZACT1 and assigned to user group1 . It's working fine. However when I copy something from transaction ZACT1 and create to be T-code : ZACT2 . and assigned user group2. There is the problem that when log on to CIC0 . When you create new transaction variant, original transaction remains as it is. During creation of transaction variant, when you go to one by one screen, screen variants are created. It uses variant name and can be see on each screen on the top.
Once you complete trasnaction, you start using this transaction variant instead of original transaction. In SHD0, there is button on the top 'assign screen variants' which allows you to assign all screen variants created above. You can refer help file which i think has procedure to do this.

System User Problems +

My G5 is having issues and I can't seem to get things back up to normal operation. A short while ago, users under my admin became unable to access our printer. I thought it was a printer issue only, but now users cannot burn CD's. As the users are my kids they are most unhappy about this. I have checked all their accounts and they should be able to do these things. I have run disk first aid and it says the machine is fine. I can't verify my permissions because I get a lost contact error when I run disk aid, and I can't seem to get it to reconnect (yes I trashed chess). I have disk warrior 3.0, but my computer won't boot from the disk and of course it can't repair the start up drive, when it being used as start up. I have run fsck but it also says all is fine. Now my machine is taking longer and longer to boot up (it sticks at the grey apple screen with spinning circle-clock thing). I think its sick, but I can't seem to do anything to help. Short of reinstalling my system, does anyone have suggestions.

I am wondering if there could be a problem with the hard drive. I suggest that you start Disk Utility from the Utilities menu and then select your disk, which should be the top item at the left of the Disk Utility window. Then, look at the bottom of the window to see what your S.M.A.R.T. status is. If it does not say "verified", then you may well have a hardware problem.

OS X Server 4.0.3 Profile Manager Settings for Mobile Users problems

We are using Profile Manager to control Settings for Mobile Users, and give homeSync to the users. Our problem is that the exclude / Skip items (Items matching any of the following will not sync" This setting is not working an example. I have put this folder to Skip Items ~/Downloads but the home Sync still Syncing items in the Downloads folder.
I have this problem on all the 3 users/machines on that server. Every client is using os x 10.10.1 og 10.10.2 I have check that the profile from the server is on the client.
Has any a solution to that?

I have no solution but have experienced failing sync settings (quite often) in both 10.6 Server and 10.9 + Server 3 (upgraded from 10.6 Server) in the same way as you described, it syncs too much. We have given up on synched home folders and will cut them and use other backup methods since we’re not so dependant on switching between different devices. Our users usually have one computer, one iPhone, one iPad and stay with those until it’s time to exchange them.

When the user goes to the punchout site and try to create a shopping cart from the vendor's website, he sees the other user shopping list also.But the user has to see his own shopping list, not any other user shopping list in the vendor's website.I am new to CCM.How to solve this problem,can u guide me.Plz tell me some suggestions.I will award you points for sure.

This solution will require involvement of your punchout catalog vendor and agreement on how to resolve this issue.
In my experience you can resolve this in a couple of different ways. Either remove the option to save favorites lists on the vendor site (is function really required for the punchout?) or the vendor must allow user specific views of the favorites data.
The first option is quite simple, request the vendor removes the function, end of story. However as you posting your question here I doubt this is the answer which will work in your case.
Ideally the supplier would have the ability to handle an identifier to segregate data being shown to the particular user. You will need to do work on the SRM side to pass a unique bit of data. If you can utilize the user name as the unique data you could simply change the catalog call structure to include sy-uname as system field, thus passing the current shopping cart user each time. Additionally you may want/need to pass an alternate key such as email address depending on the vendor. You can implement badi BBP_CAT_CALL_ENRICH to send the addition info as a parameter.
The vendor site will then need to interpret this additional parameter and provision the views per user.
