Users cannot process dimensions

Hi everybody,
We are working on SAP BPC NW version 7.0, SP05 and we cannot process dimensions, unless we use a specific user (the only one that appears at UJA_SVR_DEFAULT table). If we try to process a dimension with another user, the following message appears: Unexpected error in application server
What do we have to change in order a user created at BPC Admin can process dimensions?
Any idea out there?
Thanks a lot in advance for your support,
Albert Mas

Hi Nilanjan,
We have created users with the following roles:
TEAMS -
> ADMIN
TASK PROFILES -
> FULL_TSK
where FULL_TSK has enabled AccessContentLib,WebAdmin,AdminJournal,Application,Appset,Business Rules, VreateJournal,DefineSecurity,Dimension, Execute, GeneralAdmin,LiveReport,Lockings,ManageAudit,ManageContentLib,ManageDistributor,CreateWebpage,ManageTemplate, Misc, PostJournals,PrimaryAdmin,PublishOffline,ReviewJournals,SetWorkStatus,SubmitData, TeamLeadAdmin,UnpostJournals,eAnalyze,Update to company folder, ManageLiveReport,ManageComments,AddComment,AuditReport,CommentReport,WorkStatusReport,SecurityReport
MEMBER ACCESS PROFILES --> AdminMbrAccPrf, FULL_MBR
As there is no protected dimension for the application, the table at the second step when you modify each Member Access Profile, is empty.
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance,
Albert Mas

  • User cannot view dimensions within EPMA Dimension Library in Shared Library

    Greetings,
    I presume this must be a security issue, but user cannot view his dimensions in the shared library in EPMA. He can, however view view his application, update the local dimensions, and push to Essbase.
    If this is a security issue, what assignment should I provision to enable the user to see these shared dims. Many thanks.

    Give that user the rights of
    Dimension Editor found under Foundation Service --> Shared Service --> EPMA Administrator and then try again.
    Thanks.

  • Here's a fix for "This item cannot be updated because it has been changed by another user or process"

    https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/System-Center-Service-fca7af29
    A few months ago on the Technet Gallery, I submitted this custom control to be used on SCSM console forms. The purpose of the control is to eliminate the "This item cannot be updated because it has been changed by another user or process" error
    message that we all have seen at least once (a day :) ).
    The details are in the gallery description (along with installation instructions for existing forms and your own custom forms).
    Here's a "short" description (nothing I ever post here is short :) ): This is a custom control that can be applied to an SCSM form like the Service Request form or Windows Computer form or your own custom form built with the authoring tool or Visual
    Studio. When you click "OK" or "Apply" on the form, this control scans the form and Service Manager's database for any changes to the object you have open. If a property that _you_ have changed on the form was _also_ changed in the CMDB
    (by a workflow or another user), this control will present a dialog box letting you know what happened. It will also let you choose which value to keep (yours, theirs, or the original value).
    Just as importantly (and important in a greater percentage of cases), if a workflow changes a "background" property (like FirstAssignedDate) while you have the form open and you click OK, the control will detect the change and allow the form submission
    to go through while keeping your changes and the FirstAssignedDate change that the workflow made. You won't get an error message or even a warning. And most importantly, you won't lose your changes.
    That's where the "optimistic" part of the control's name comes from. It applies optimistic concurrency control to SCSM forms, while also providing an anti-collision interface for you to use so you no longer lose any of your changes.
    Furthermore, this control will work on related items that are opened in memory; for example, the activities on a Service Request. So if you change an activity's title while the workflow engine sets it in progress, you won't get an error. The activity will
    be in progress and will get your new title when you click OK or Apply.
    Lastly, (and I admit this part is getting into the deep inner workings of console forms) if your form loads a sub projection at run time (to the root object) this control will detect the load and treat that sub projection as if it were apart of the original
    form all along.
    I've gotten a little feedback about this control, but I'd like to get more since it's a work in progress. So, I'm announcing it here on the forums. Please give it a try and let me know if you have any questions. I'll be happy to answer them here. Thanks,
    folks!
    Oh, and to answer the most common question right away: It's free. There is no paid version or anything like that. This is something I built for the SCSM community.

    Great job!
    Will definitely try it out.
    Best regards,
    Marcus

  • Error in Processing Dimension

    Hi
    I have a USER DEFINED DIMENSION , MATERIAL, which i am when trying to process the dimension from the Admin Console it is given me an error message
    "The request falied with HHTP status 401: Unauthorized.
    Cannot save member sheet to the server, do you want to save it to the local machine"
    For all other dimenion,(along with other User Defined DimensionAlso) the Processing is Successful.
    We are using customized SSIS Package to update & process the MATERIAL Dimension at the back end to the mbr table.
    Can anybody throw some light on the same
    Thanks & Regards
    krish

    The problem it is related to your custom SSIS package.
    You said you are updating the mbr table but this doesn't means the excel sheet will be updated automatically.
    More than that you have to use standard BPC tasks to process the dimension into back end.
    If you didn't use these tasks then I can understand why you have these authentication issue.
    So I suggest to check the custom package and also I suggest first to do modify dimension and to see if you have the right properties and to save this dimension one more time.
    I suppose after that you will be able to process dimension but again I don't know if what you have into excel sheet it is the same with what you have ointo mbrtable.

  • BPC cannot read dimension : ACCOUNT

    Hi all,
    This is the second time we encounter this incident in our BPC production environment.
    A user opens BPC Excel, and on launch, there is a popup with the message that the system cannot read the dimension ACCOUNT. The two times it was the same dimension.
    After clicking on OK, in the action pane, in place of the account dimension, there is "...more..." and when I click on this (I also reproduce the issue), I cannot see any member in the window.
    The only solution I found is to open the administration and manage the members, all seems to be OK except the format of the file. I process the dimension with Full Process and Appset offline, and the correct situation is then restored.
    We need to understand what is happening, but I clearly have no idea.
    Could you help me please ?
    Thank you very much

    Some changes into Account dimension were done and it was not performed a full process for that dinmension.
    It was just process dimension without full process.
    This was the cause of the issue and actually the solution is the one provided by you.
    You just have to track the admin processes performed and you will find out what process was not done correct.
    Kind Regards

  • BPC Process Dimension Pop Up Freezes

    Hi all,
    When I delete a member of a dimension and then process dimension, a pop up openned. In the pop up, it is written that "Validate process dimension, waiting for the server to response". And then nothing happens after 30 minutes.No error, no change, nothing.But when I check st22, I see that there is a runtime error "DYNPRO_SEND_IN_BACKGROUND".And in the details " The current ABAP program "RSDMDD_DELETE_KERNEL" had to be interrupted because it contains a statement that cannot be executed." In addition I chekced whether there is a lock but there isn't any lock.
    Nevertherless, when I close BPC Admin Console and then open, I see that the changes are made correctly.However, in BW , it does not delete the row from master data of the same characteristic but when I add new row, it adds that row in both BW and BPC Admin console.
    Any idea on that?Is this a BW issue or BPC issue?
    There is one thread about this subject but it is unanswered in fact.I need to delete members.
    Corrupt dimension - can't process, can't delete
    Any help will be appreciated,

    Hi,
    You can try couple of things to check if it resolves your issue:
    - Try renaming the xml file that the dimenion processing generates in the backend in UJFS tcode. First go to the tcode UJFS and find your dimension library there. There would be a xml file for your user defined dimension rename only the xml file adding a 1 to its name. Go back to the dimension, open it up, save and process to generate the xml file again. Try deleting some members then. Please check if you can.
    - Try to create another new dimension and see if the new dimension has same problem of deleting the members from it as your existing user defined dimension whille deleting the members when assigned to an application.
    Thanks,

  • WinRM cannot process the request. The following error occured while using Kerberos authentication: The network path was not found.

    I have two forests with a transitive on-way trust between them: PROD -> TEST (test trusts PROD). I had previously had kerberos authentication working with winrm from PROD to machines in TEST. I have verified the trust is healthy, I also verified users
    in TEST can use WINRM with kerberos just fine. Users from PROD cannot connect via kerberos to machines in TEST with winrm.
    I have verified the service has registered the appropriate SPNs. I ran dcdiag against all my PROD and TEST domain controllers and didn't find anything that would prevent kerberos from happening. I even tried disabling the firewall entirely on my TEST dcs
    but that didn't gain me anything.
    I've enabled kerberos logging but only see the expected errors such as it couldn't find a PROD SPN for the machine, which it shouldn't from what I understand, it should go to the TEST domain and find the SPN from there.
    I'm really out of next steps before I call PSS and hope someone here has run into this and could provide me some next steps.

    Hi Adam,
    I'm a little unclear about which SPNs you were looking for, in which case could you confirm you were checking that on the computer object belonging to the actual destination host it has the following SPNs registered?
    WSMAN/<NetBIOS name>
    WSMAN/<FQDN>
    If you were actually trying to use WinRM to connect to the remote forest's domain controllers, then what you said makes sense, but I was caught between assuming this was the case or you meant another member server in that remote forest.
    Also, from the client trying to connect to this remote server, are you able to telnet to port 5985? (If you've used something other than the default, try that port)
    If you can't, then you've got something else like a firewall (be that the Windows firewall on the destination or a hardware firewall somewhere in between) blocking you at the port level, or the listener on the remote box just isn't working as expected. I
    just replied to your other winrm post with steps for checking the latter, so I won't repeat myself here.
    If you can telnet to it and the SPNs exist, then you might be up against something called selective authentication which has to do with how the trust was defined. You can have a read of
    this to learn a bit more about selective trusts and whether or not it's affecting you.

  • Error when processing dimension using XMLA script

    I am hopeful that someone has an answer for this...
    I am in the process of deploying SQLServer 2014 and have been running in parallel with my production environment for 2 weeks with no issues.  Yesterday morning, my primary data load job failed while executing a process dimension script.  The script
    does a process update on multiple dimensions, but fails on the product dimension.  This is the script:
    <Batch xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine">
    <Parallel>
    <Process xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:ddl2="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine/2" xmlns:ddl2_2="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine/2/2">
    <Object>
    <DatabaseID>WestLakeSales</DatabaseID>
    <DimensionID>Dim Product</DimensionID>
    </Object>
    <Type>ProcessUpdate</Type>
    <WriteBackTableCreation>UseExisting</WriteBackTableCreation>
    </Process>
    </Parallel>
    </Batch>
    It processes the attributes and starts processing the associated measure groups, then fails with a return code that I cannot find any information on:
    <return xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-analysis">
    <results xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/xmla-multipleresults">

    </Messages>
    </root>
    </results>
    </return>
    At the end of the job log it just shows this:
    Finished processing the 'Inventory Weekly 2009 08' partition.
    Processing of the 'Inventory Weekly 2009 06' partition has started.
    Finished processing the 'Inventory Weekly 2009 06' partition.
    Processing of the 'Inventory Weekly 2010 02' partition has started.
    The job completed with failure.
    The job completed with failure.
    The job completed with failure.
    Execution complete
    When I run process update from Studio it processes all of the attributes and measure group partitions, then throws a single 'error' result with no description or message.  It appears that all partitions process successfully.  See the screen shot:
    This script ran fine up until yesterday.  There were no system changes.  The same script is currently running fine on the production SQLServer 2008 instance.
    Anyone see anything like this happening in SSAS 2014?  Any tips on further trouble shooting?

    Hi Bendare2,
    Thank you for sharing your solution.

  • Unable to process dimension - BPC 7 Microsoft

    hello,
    I've installed BPC 7.0 SP3 and dimension processing doesn't work. (SQL 2005 SP3 Enterprise, IIS 6, Windows 2003 SP2 Enterprise...)
    Dimension processing stops at the beginning (step 1 - validating dimension) with this message: "An error has occurred during processing".
    On BPC client computer, the log contained in "My DocumentsOutlookSoftLoggingAdminMemberProcess" shows these messages:
        DetailMsg  : {System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. --> Could not find file "D:BPCDataWebfoldersApShellAdminApp%CHANGED_DIM%.xls".

    Has anyone seen this before ?
    I'm able to modify/process and optimize Apshell applications and Server Manager and client diagnostics are OK. No error message in event logs... So where is the problem ?

    Hi Sorin
    I have one server for SQL/OLAP and one server for Files, Web and Application.
    I've offered EVERYONE all rights on folders.
    BPC Setup puts XCEEDZIP.DLL in Websrvr in and
    install guide tells to put ANTIXSSLibrary.dll in Websrvrweb in
    Do you agree with that ?
    I've put XCEEDZIP.DLL and ANTIXSSLibrary.dll in BOTH folders (but tell me if the rule above is enough) and now:
    I don't have any more error message when opening BPC admin.And ADMINCACHE_.zip file is not destroyed any more when refreshing dimension client files. That's better...But...
    ...when I want to process dimensions I still have an error message but a little different:
    {System.Exception: Cannot find dimension member sheet file; use the export dimension feature to restore it from the member table...}
    Do we still need an OSOFT Share and if we need it, where ? On the folder above webfolders ?
    Folders (but not files inside them), folders remain with "Read" property greyed and checked. I do not know why. Whenever I uncheck the folders and apply...close the window and re-open they seem to be still with this property "Read" greyed and checked... Is it normal ?
    Thanks a lot for your help. R.
    NB: with File Monitor tool from sysinternals (Microsoft) we can see that we are back to the first error:
    if we are processing the account dimension for example, dllhost.exe will work with account.xls file, then with account.xls.zip file, account.xls.zip.001 file and account.xlsTemp_ file and then it fails to find the %CHANGED_DIM%.xls file...

  • Error Opening Reports (Cannot find Dimension Scenario, Error executing query: the member null doesn't exist in this application)

    Hello,
    two of our users get the following error message, when opening two specific reports:
    First Report: Cannot find Dimension Scenario.
    Second Report: Error executing query: the member null doesn't exist in this application.
    Other users can access these reports, and the same users where the problem occurs can access other reports in the same folder.
    I set the same rights for me, but i can access the reports without problems.
    Somebody encountered the same problem before?

    Hi there,
    I had the same issue a few weeks ago... not sure how it happened but it was related only with my username.
    In order to fix it:
    1. I created a report which does not require to select the scenario in advance. Try to use the default data-grid that you get when you first create a report for example.
    2. When the user runs the report, try to see if he can see the dimension. Do not use the missing dimension on rows or columns. If he can see the dimension, ask him to select one scenario. This will solve the issue.
    3. If he cannot see the dimension, try to change the layout of the report.

  • Non-admin user cannot access Essbase server level variables

    Version 11.1.1.3
    Essbase Substitution variables are created at server level. Users are getting error in FR report that uses the Subsitution Variable -- Essbase Error(1051085): You do not have sufficient access to get this substitution variable. Also, users cannot access Substitution variable in SmartView. However, users can access variables created at database level. Users are provisioned as "Server Access" to Essbase and filter access to ASO application "MGTRPTG", where MGTRPTG is an ASO essbase application for reporting. We tried the same provisioning in two other environments and it seems to be working fine.
    User is type "Essbase and Planning" provisioned with essbase "server access", application mgtrptg "filter", Reporting and Analysis "analyst", "dynamic viewer" and "Explorer". In addition, it is given a filter "REP_DME_GALB" which restricts 2 dimensions (Division and Geography).
    Steps taken to resolve:
    1. Existing users were deprovisioned and reprovisioned with no effect.
    2. Created brand new identically provisioned users in Prod and QA. QA user can access the server level var and Prod user cannot
    3. Created a brand new server level variable in Prod and this cannot be accessed.
    4. All services have already been restarted several times.
    5. SR has been opened.
    Temporary workaround:
    By creating a duplicate of the same set of variables at the database level, the reports work. This can only be a temporary workaround as the client cannot be expected to maintain two sets of substitution variables since there are 3 applications using these server level variables.
    Thank you for any ideas!
    Jennifer

    You have stumbled on a defect which is resolved in the Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 patch 6 and above. If you have your planning preferences set to indent members it will cause forms which have page selections to show as invalid in SmartView.
    You can either patch Planning or turn off the preference. The patches are available from http://metalink3.oracle.com and require account which has been associated with your client ID.
    P.S. Usually it's not a good practice to use the admin id.

  • Some Users cannot Open Workflow Approval Task

    We have a SPD workflow published to our production site and it includes a 'Start Approval Process' task which involves a number of users (determined by a lookup to another list) this worked brilliantly until we republished the workflow with some minor changes,
    none of which were to this particular approval task. Now we are seeing some strange behaviours. When some users click the task to approve they are seeing 'This from cannot be opened in a browser, To open this form use Microsoft Infopath'. Now strangely it's
    only certain users, if you're a site collection admin you never have this error. So if a user previously had the error and i then add them to the site collection administrators list the error goes away and they can complete the task.
    Obviously not a solution! giving users full control permissions on the task list or task item doesnt fix the error either. The same workflow on our UAT works without any issues. The task forms in SPD have not been customised either. Its a SP2010 Standard
    farm with no infopath services obviously. Bizarrely there are some users with only Contribute rights to the task list who can open approve tasks, so it's looking like a permissions issue to me but I'm at a loss to find a fix. I've tried totally removing
    the worklows and republishing, regenerating the .xsn task forms in SPD by deleting them and republishing, removing and re-adding the task related content types to site, Changing the Approval Task settings 'only allow users to edit their tasks...' to false
    and then back to true, the works, but to no avail.
    Anybody any ideas?
    TIA
    Chris

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that Some Users cannot Open Workflow Approval Task.
    I recommend that you can create a new list and workflow to check whether it works.
    Then use the user who get the error to open task.
    If he can open the task in the brower, the issue is related to the older list.
    Then you can use the new created list and assgin the task.
    Here is a similar thread for your reference:

  • CProject user cannot edit (confirm) their assigned tasks

    Dear Experts,
    we are facing an unexpected behaviour on cProjects: project user cannot edit (confirm) their assigned tasks, because the authorizations at the task level for user appear as Read (authorizations view on task), while on the project definition, for the same tasks the user is assigned Write permissions. Something must be happening in between that we are not getting right.
    More details on the configuration behind and the process:
    - In Project definition level, project roles (coming from a project template) are staffed to users (business partners)
    - Project roles coming from project template are assigned to a project role type with Default authorization set as Read. Because we want all project users to be able to access in read mode to the whole project and tasks; and then be able to edit (Confirm) only their assigned tasks. Except for the project manager role, who has a different project role type assigned wih Admin default authorization set
    - After making the staffing at project level, this seems to be working fine: all project users have read access assigned at project structure level and rest of tasks, except the project manager who has Admin authorization. And for each task, the user assigned to the task has write permissions.
    - But when a user open the task from the tasks dashboard, and go to the Authorizations tab, then the user has Read permission for the same task, which causes the consequence of not being able to Edit and Confirm.
    Can you guide us to understand why the Write authorization is being overriden to Read at user access? Should not the default authorization “read” at project role type be overwritten by the assignment of the user to the task?
    Maybe is there other configuration setting that is missing or needs to be checked?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Roberto

    Thanks Ravi, I answer your questions:
    1) How did you give write access? - Manually in ACL-Authorisations tab or through selection of responsible role/person in basic tab.
    we use the second option. We create projects from templates that have roles assigned to tasks. After we complete staffing in the project, we assign users (business partners) to each project role. After this, automatically, users are assigned as task Responsible and receive their tasks assigned in the task dashboard.
    Question here: since we do not use Resources, the field responsible resource is not used/filled- Is this required?
    2) Whether the task accessed by the user is in 'Released' status?
    yes, tasks are released, so that ther users receive the task in Tasks Dashboard, but due to the permissions issue, they cannot confirm task
    The only possible workaround we have found to solve the issue is to assign Write authorizations to all users, but at project level. So the consequence is that users can edit all the project tasks (not only their assigned tasks) and we want to avoid that. • Cube Processing - process Dimension before Measure Groups? How to?

    Hi guys.
    I noticed that when you choose "Process Cube", Measure groups are processed before Dimensions. Recently I ran into an issue caused by change in data that made the Process Cube job fail, - until I manually processed all Dimensions and then run the
    "Process Cube" job again.
    - Is there any way to configure it to process Dimensions before Measure Groups???
    Cheers!

    We use SSIS to automate the cube processing using XMLA scripts. We have a control table where we maintain the list of dimensions and measure group partitions which will be iterated upon and processed by SSIS. It will also log audit information like when
    it was started, when it got ended and the process result.
