Using amazon aws OVM template

Hi I am an amateur newbie on EBS
I am setting up a sandbox test environment using AMAZON AWS OVM template for EBS 12.1.3
I get the vision demo DB up running.
Following the post below:

However, then I am still not able to get the EBS app server running, I got the following the error.
In the /u01 directory, it got the following files:
E-BIZ ebiz_cleanup.sh ebiz_reconfig.sh lost+found startapps.sh stopapps.shI suspect I need to run ebiz_reconfig.sh
but I am getting this error:

Streaming for Android devices using Amazon AWS and Adobe FMS 4.5

I have created a live stream using Amazon Web Services and Adobe Flash Media Server 4.5.
AWS provides me with both a .f4m and .m3u8 file, to use in <object><embed> and <video> tags, respectively.
The .f4m loads fine on my desktop browser, and the .m3u8 file loads fine on my iOS device. However, my Android devices will not load either file.
What code/solutions are there to get this to play on Android devices?

Few additional things which I just came across while setting up for live stream on my Android from AWS are as follows:
1. for the first time when I tried to run the live stream on my android app, it didnt run at all and I thought your concerns are valid for an instance :-) .
2. Later, I killed the application from task manager, restarted it cleanly and again provided the url and it streamed without issues.
Please also ensure that:
- You had put a crossdomain.xml file under <fmsinstalldirectory>/webroot folder.
- You have provided the correct stream name in the <media> tag in Manifest.xml file inside <fmsinstalldirectory>/livepkgr/events/_definst_/liveevent folder
(hopefully you have done it since you are already playing it on PC)
You may also like to cehck the apache logs inside <fmsinstalldirectory>/Apache2.2/logs/access_logs folder to find whether your Android device request is reaching to the server.
Hope these steps will help you in osloating the problem.

Can I use OVM templates with VirtualBox

Oracle has lots of OVM templates available on edelivery for Oracle E-Business Suite. But it seems that to get those I need to install OVM and would not just work with VirtualBox.
Is there a possibility that I can use them directly with VirtaulBox instead of first installing OVM(as this would require formatting of my laptop).

Adding or Using OVM templates in the EM12c software library

Hi,
I hope someone can help me :-) I have em12c U1 and OVM Manager (3.0.3) running. I want to use the self-service portal to deplay OVM templates, but I do not seem to figure out how to add my existing OVM templates in the software library and google is not helping either :-(
Does anyone have any idea how to do this?

There are two options to upload OVM Templates and Assemblies in the the EM software library:
Option 1: Using “Upload File Location”
Pre-req: The template or assembly file is downloaded and stored on a machine running EM 12 agent.
Option 2: Using “Referenced File Location”
Pre-req: The template or assembly file is downloaded and stored in an HTTP accessible location.
By definition in Enterprise Manager, an assembly is a .ova file and a OVM Template is a .tgz file.
I am describing the more common option 1 here:
1.     Navigate to Software Library Administration page:
2.     Configure the storage for “Upload File Locations” tab. Note that ONLY “OMS Shared Filesystem” storage type is supported for Oracle Virtual Assemblies.
Create a directory on the OMS machine and added as software library storage.

3.     Create a new folder “Cloud Components” in the software library
4.     Create a “New Entity” for Oracle Virtual Assembly if you are using .ova files. or create a "New Entity" for Templates if you are using the .tgz files
5.     Give a name for the assembly or template component
6.     If you are using the .ova files, then you need to do this extra step of adding an attachment. Browse and pick the .ovf file as attachment. It’ll be named as descriptor.ovf
Note that you will have to unpackage the .ova assembly file and store the .ovf descriptor separately on the machine.
7.     Go to next step to upload the .ova or .tgz file.
8.     Specify the software library location on the OMS machine as destination to upload the .ova file
9.     Make sure you pick “Agent Machine” as the source for the .ova or .tgz file.
Due to the 2 MB restriction, Local Machine cannot be used as a source for Oracle virtual assemblies.
10.     Specify the agent machine where the .ova or .tgz file is located and “Add” the file location
11.     Click next to go to the “Review” step and then “Save and Upload.”
Please make sure you pick “Save and Upload” and NOT “Save.”
12.     Click on the newly create assembly component to verify the details:
13.     Verify the following:
-     Describe tab: Shows an attachment descriptor.ovf (this is only if you are using assemblies)
-     Upload Files tab: Should show the .ova or .tgz file in associated files
-     Customize tab: Should show the assembly structure

IWeb posting to Amazon AWS?

My wife has a website she has created on iweb and was published to mobile me. I was going to move it over to Amazon AWS as a host and I am having trouble having iweb post to it via FTP. Has anyone else been successful using iweb on AWS via FTP? If so what was the trick?

Error when adding Amazon AWS account to CAL

Recently I've registered for CAL and would like to try SAP HANA Developer edition. I followed tutorial about how to deploy SAP HANA using CAL and Amazon AWS account. One of the steps was to add AWS account (using public and secret keys) to CAL account. When I'm trying to do it, I'm receiving following error "An error from Amazon Web Services occurred: AMAZON : null". My AWS account is valid, but this is a corporate account and I'm not the root user. Does anybody know how to solve this?

Yet while using wireshark to fix my privatizing web proxy's Photo Stream connection, I observed that iPhoto's connection to Photo Stream via Amazon AWS is unencrypted over port 80. The content is "application/octet-stream" and I was not able to identify as gzipped or any other content -- I presume that its encrypted, but I am unable to determine this. Does anyone know what this is? Anyone know which encryption protocol Apple uses for Photo Stream? Or why Photo Stream is communicating with Amazon AWS over port 80?

Not only Photo Stream but also the UBD process that handles iCloud Documents connects to Amazon and Microsoft servers via port 80. How do I check if info is handled encrypted or not?

- The OVM templates are provided as a form of "quick start" to get customers and others running with an environment.
- Because Oracle Enterprise Linux, Oracle VM, Oracle DB and PeopleSoft Application are Oracle products there is no multi-vendor license conflict consideration
The Oracle VM Templates are provided in addition to all of the other resources Oracle provides, they are not supplanting, or eliminating, anything else, so no one is being left out in the cold. All the software and documentation is already provided for anyone who wishes to create their own test and demonstration environments.

Import JDE E1 OVM template

I have downloaded and extracted the E1 OVm templates. Namely E1_OAS, E1_ENT, E1_DB. I make them accessible in localhost. When I tried to import them, I got an invalid URL error. Here are my steps
1. login VM manager 2.2 as admin.
2. Import VM template, downloaded from Edelivery.
3. Source - external HTTP. aka localhost
4. Virtutal Machine Template, E1_OAS, OS - Oracle linux 64
5. URL - http://localhost/tmp. /tmp is where I place the extracted img and cfg files in their repective folders. I can browse the folder under localhost.
Then I got invalid URL. Please help.

R: how to, and with what quality, converting OVM Templates to VMWare

Hi all
My customer wants to migrate from VMWare to Oracle VM for the Oracle products they have, but that will be a somewhat longer process. They need to stick to VMWare for their runtime platform at least for a longer while.
We are looking at what steps are possible now, and one of the routes the customer suggested is to start using the OVM Templates, and create OVM templates with a more or less "design" installation for Oracle VM. Then do a conversion to VMWare and run it as a VMWare virtual machine.
Is such a conversion possible, and will there be any quality left ? I assume the initial run scripts will not work for example?
Also we want to use OEM as the central point for provisioning. So somehow we would need to provision the VMWare images as well. But that will be for a different forum :-)

Hi Dave
The runtime platform as a whole is controlled by a division of the organization that is not ready and willing to move to OVM yet. I have this discussion regularly and the discussions, also this time, are typically around supportability, standardization and maturity. OVM is favoured by the architects, but they do not have all the power :-)
The organization claims not to have the skills, the right monitoring framework (for instance a link to Tivoli) in place, no experience etc. so they cannot support the app in production. Also they are still on the concept of a standardized platform for all apps, not just the oracle ones. The non-oracle apps typically are supported on VMWare. Then they usually claim the huge market share as opposed to OVM to support their claim that VMWare is a more mature product.. In short many reasons for an admin organization not to adopt OVM. So they just will not support an app run on OVM in production..
In the meantime they also have decided against VMWare and go for Bare metals.

'Generate WSDL' error on OVM Template for EBS R12 (12.1.3)

I have a standard VISION instance installed and running based on the OVM template for 12.1.3. When I tried to expose a Web Service via 'Generate WSDL' under Integrated SOA Gateway..I get the following error:
Service Provider Access resulted in exception 'oracle.apps.fnd.soa.util.SOAException: SystemError: Error while sending message to server. http://ec2-107-22-78-224.compute-1.amazonaws.com:8000/webservices/SOAProvider/EbizAuth?Generate=1132&soa_ticket=Tu2z7GYoWPwq-VdgimKRFg..' when attempting to perform 'GENERATE'. Please view Service Provider logs for more details

Ubd and Amazon AWS

I have Lion and Little Snitch installed.
After upgrade to Lion from Snow Leopard I revised all firewall rules and didn't get any requests from Little Snitch for standard system daemons until today.
While I was browsing web using Safari a Little Snitch window popped up and tell me that ubd (ubd is the ubiquity server process. It is primarily used for "Mobile Documents".) is trying to access us-nca-00001.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com host using https protocol.
I already have three rules for ubd in place in Little Snitch:
- allow TCP to port 443 for domain blob.core.windows.net
- allow any connection to domain apple.com
- allow any connection to domain icloud.com
Is it safe to allow ubd to access Amazon AWS cloud?

I've found the following:
UBD is the ubiquity server process. It is primarily used for "Mobile Documents". There are no configuration options to ubd, and users should not run ubd.

My little snitch is seeing requests from fdb2:e318:ed70:5efe:129a:ddff:fe65:b513 on ports 58867 and 58895. According to Apple's well know TCP and UDP ports support page, this is in the XSAN range. I have XSAN in my system preferences but it's not enabled. Could it be that UBD is being used for iCloud documents and those are running on XSAN? I'd love it if someone could explain this.

If have enabled my Mobile Documents folder on my mac to sync files between Macs using iCloud. What's weird is that dropping files into this folder cause Little Snitch to want to send ubd TCP traffice to Amazon over port 443 the SSL port to us-nca-00001.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com. I did a little tracing and found that us-nca-0001.... is owned by MarkMonitor which is a brand identiy web firm for large companies who want to protect their brand. I've denied traffic to this site as I'm not clear what it's for and the files sync between my Macs just fine. Here are some URLs about what I just mentioned in this bullet:

Is Peoplesoft Application Designer part of the Peoplesoft OVM Template?

I am totally new to Peoplesoft. Is PeopleSoft Application Designer part of the Peoplesoft OVM Template and how can I access it in order to development?

You'll have to build your own VM, or just use any workstation as a Peoplesoft client to run AppDesigner.

I used Jim's Converting the PeopleTools OVM Template to VirtualBox
Ok I have used the blog and I have been 'almost succesfull' I have created the oracle database. I am at the step in the 'Converting the PeopleTools OVM Template to VirtualBox" I believe I have followed all the instructions to the 'Tee'
I got to the step where I am running the './oraclevm-template.sh'
I reached a point where I get asked whether "I am happy with my answers" ? I answer Yes! I get the message "unable" then the ff message "

My database is mounted and opened with SID=FSCM and the Database Machine is up and running
What is the deal about thsi DECOUPLED application ??
I ran the 'export DECOUPLED_USR_GROUP=appinst !!!
before the script ./oraclevm-template.sh

I checked and there was no such directory "vm" under the "psft" directoryI cannot comment here, first try the previous step to be successful before going further.
I think the best would be to stuck on the same version of OL than the one delivered in PSOVM, otherwise you'll probably have a lot more troubles. For instance, the FSCM PSOVM (May'12) which Jim's article is based on works on Oracle database server 11.1 which is itself not certified on OL6... unless you go with the latest HCM PSOVM based on 11.2 database.
