Using new version of boost

Hello,
I'm building a plugin and want to use new boost libraries. I need the latest version for using threads.
Problem is Indesign is also using boost only an old version.
Now I get conflicts when compiling the plugin.
Does anyone have an Idea to solve this problem?
Thanks,
Jelle

Reese, first I don't dispute the fact that $129 isn't reasonable for updating to the next major revision of Mac OS X. But before I launch into a rebuttal, thanks first for letting me know about finding extensions for such commands as 'mdls' and 'mdfind'.
My concern was that I wished to install the latest Darwin on simple hardware that is able to run unix executable files, using a compiler like gcc, that I create on my Mac and possibly do simple animation with OpenGL on X11 to do a specific task on that hardware for some of my research. However, after seeing a video on a gcc update on Apple's developer site, they mentioned that the acceptability of loose C code was stricter with the latest gcc. This is where having the latest Darwin in the interim period while I actually save up for the latest Mac OS X would help. In the Linux community this is already the case as they have Linux running on anything from servers to desktop PCs to cellular phones. I think that Darwin as an open source OS has the same potential to add Apple technologies to low level hardware and link up successfully with Macintosh computers and servers. This capability would prevent me from having to figure out how to make low-end hardware running Linux work with Macs. Instead of Linux everywhere, Darwin everywhere.

  • Java program not working using newer version of scheduler (AutoSys)

A little background: I'm in the middle of trying to upgrade our AutoSys server (scheduler) to the latest version (version R4 to R11) and have to do regression testing to ensure our jobs will work in the new version. There's a small java program that is not working supposedly due to the following error:
Exception in thread "Main Thread" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/f1j/swing/common/JDKAdapter
    at com.f1j.swing.common.Adapter.<clinit>(Adapter.java:86)
    at com.f1j.swing.engine.ss.JBook.<init>(JBook.java:3032)
    at com.f1j.swing.engine.ss.JBook.<init>(JBook.java:3096)
    at com.test.Foo.performScan(Foo.java:122)
So in the old version (R4), it runs fine. In R11, I get the exception above. The CLASSPATH matches and I've verified that by echoing it in the shell script that calls the java program. Here's how it's called in the shell script.
    echo $CLASSPATH
    ${JAVA_HOME}/bin/java com.test.Foo
So the Foo class was written by me, which makes use of this external library called f1j11swing.jar (for spreadsheet creation).
The source of the error is from this line in Foo (line 122):
              book = new com.f1j.swing.engine.ss.JBook();
The funny part is JDKAdapter (the missing class) is in the same jar file as JBook, so it definitely finds the library in the classpath. But for some reason, this new AutoSys version is spitting out this error. I've exhausted many approaches to resolving this, but I'm still stuck.
Here's the layout of how things are called (should be same for R4 and R11):
    1. AutoSys server logs into client machine XYZ as user arnold
    2. arnold (AutoSys client) on XYZ executes shell script to call java program
The only significant difference I see is that the AutoSys server in R4 is HP while the R11 server is Sun. However, it shouldn't matter because the client server they're logging into to execute the script is the same linux server.
Does anyone have any ideas? I've already started dialogue with the vendor and it seems kind of in limbo at the moment. Please let me know if you need more info. Thanks.

    Hi DrClap,
I just checked jre/lib/ext of my $JAVA_HOME and verified that there doesn't exist any library with a class named "Adapter." We don't put anything in this directory other than what came with the original installation. I've tried isolating the jars before as well, by doing something like (to no avail):
    java -cp /users/test/lib/f1j11swing.jar:/users/test/lib/Foo.jar com.test.Foo
If I remove the f1jswing11.jar path in the above command, it will complain about other things. Also, for fun, I tried dropping f1j11swing.jar into the ext folder and removing it from the CLASSPATH and it yielded the original error. Running it directly from the shell and old version of autosys works fine.
I hope I understood your suggestion correctly and please let me know if you have any other ideas. I'm surprised why java would act differently with a different version of an AutoSys client logging into the same machine and environment. Thanks.
xiarce - I haven't heard anything regarding this, but I'll bring it up. Thanks.

  • Using new version iPhoto

I just bought imac and used migration asst. to transfer my old files. When I was setting up the new computer it asked if I wanted to update the iPhoto, I said yes and have not been able to use iPhoto. I have all of my old pictures on the computer and have downloaded new to Kodak file. But when I try to open iPhoto it says "You can't open your current photo library using this version of iphoto, use current version" I have the 7.1.1 downloaded but it says there is no application for it. Am I wrong, or isn't iLife08 installed on these computers. Can anyone help?

    nanobear:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you still have the original library on our old Mac? If so, connect the two Macs together so you can manually copy the iPhoto Library folder from the old Mac into the Pictures folder of the new iMac. download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name in the owner section and Staff in the group section. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
Now launch iPhoto and it should inform you that the library will need to be upgraded. Select OK and the library will be converted to the latest version.
What version of iPhoto were you running on the old Mac?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Airport Utility telling me to use new version to set up Time Capsule

I just purchased a 2 TB Time Capsule. I started to set it up with Airport Utility 5.4.2, but AU tells me that I need to use a newer version of AU to set up this Time Capsule.
    Any help?

Here is the message I get:
"This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this Apple wireless device and might improperly configure the device if you continue to use it. Use the version of AirPort Utility that came on the CD with your Apple wireless device. Check www.apple.com/support/airport for the latest version of AirPort Utility"
Isn't 5.4.2 the newest version of AU?

  • Trying to import address books and templates from old Netscape Communicator 4.8 to Thunderbird. What old version of Thunderbird to use ( new version wont do

Been using Communicator 4.8 for years. Working fine had no reason to change. But now security settings wont work with yahoo pop server.
Want to import my address books and templates to thunderbird.
New version of Thunderbird 31.0 doesn't have import for communicator that old. Earlier versions do.
Figured I'd use old version of thunderbird to import and then update thunderbird to 31.00
Tried thunderbird 3.0 which has importer for 4.73 but getting error message that it is having trouble. Anyone know last version of thunderbird that had netscape 4.8 importer ? Thought maybe a later version would be able to import and then update to newest thunderbird.
    Thanks

1 - there is no importing involved - you NEVER import an iPhoto library into another iPhoto library
2 - you have to run programs after you download them - go to your applications folder ==> utilities and launch the library upgrader  --  Then launch iPhoto to complete the upgrade

  • Upgrading of model to use new version of UML Profile

    Hi,
I'm using Eclipse Luna SR2 and Papyrus 1.0.2.v201504030953.
My question/problem concerns how to upgrade a model that has a UML profile X version 1.0.0 applied to use a later version, say 1.0.1 of the same UML profile.
We provide the profiles as plugins and use pathmaps to address them. Opening the old model in an eclipse with profile X v 1.0.1 seems to be fine, since the profile version displayed is 1.0.1. However, selecting a model element that should have an new stereotype property (that was introduced in latest profile), then an exception is thrown, as shown below (property1 is the new property in the new profile version):

If I manually remove the profile shown in the Profile tab when the model element is selected, and then add it again, everything is fine. The model has the new profile applied. However, this procedure is useless since all stereotypes also have to be reapplied, and their properties must be reentered.
Surely a smother upgrade must be supported?

Do you mean an old model with the 1.0.0 version of X applied? If the
1.0.1 version is applied, then there's nothing to migrate and the UI
    should not run into exceptions.

Absolutely. Papyrus is supposed to prompt automatically when opening a
model, if any profiles are out-of-date, to migrate them. A dialog lets
you select which profile applications to migrate to the current
version. If you skip that step, you should later be able to migrate a
profile application to the latest version by hitting the little button
with the two yellow arrows in a circle formation. This migration
process preserves data in stereotype attributes that are still
compatible (having the same name as before, and a compatible data type
    and range/enumeration).
As described in the bug report referenced above, it appears that the
handling of profile migration is completely broken now in Papyrus.
Because Papyrus thinks the latest version of the profile is applied,
the migration button is disabled. For now, you will have to open the
*.uml resource in the UML2 example editor and re-apply the profile in
that editor. Then save and re-open the *.di resource in the Papyrus
    editor.

  • Using New Version of Darwin on Older OS X Revision

I've lately been considering the extendability of the Darwin foundation, its major revisions, and interacting with older versions of the Aqua GUI corresponding to an earlier version of Mac OS X. Two incidents sparked this interest. First, I encountered a iBook user who was using Panther who I work with in an educational lab and as of yet was not able to afford the upgrade to Tiger. Unwittingly, when searching for a file on her system, I looked to use Spotlight, much to my dismay, but I am familiar with the Darwin 8 command 'mdfind' and 'mdls' as Spotlight equivalents. Another situation in which I look to use Darwin is in some old hardware that I am looking to use for a research task and am looking to install a Unix-like OS that is free and links up seamlessly with my Powerbook or any Mac that is in the lab.
My question related to these experiences is: Is it possible to install the latest version of Darwin and work with an earlier Aqua version (like Darwin 8 with Panther) without having to reboot into either. Any help in this regard would be appreciated since I do not see myself dropping $129 right away for Leopard once it comes out, but I would still like to use its command line goodies atop the Tiger GUI. Thanks.
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

• Is there any way to have a music track not snap to the start point of the movie? Using new version on iOS.

On iMovie for the Mac it's possibly to have a music track start at any point in a project I like. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get music on the iOS version to do anything other than snap to the beginning of the project. Any help would be greatfully received.
I've tried it it using the latest version of iMovie for iOS.

  • Yet AGAIN! "You can't open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto"

I have read every thread on this topic I could find in these forums, and tried most solutions, and I still can't get iPhoto to work.
Equipment:  MacBook Pro June 2010, OS 10.6.8.  Bought a Macbook Air February 2012, OS 10.7.2
Not sure why, but I can't open iPhoto.  Here's what I have tried.
Original message on MBPro:  "You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto".
    1.  Tried to rebuild library as per this thread https://discussions.apple.com/message/8429269#8429269.  I get the list of checkboxes, but when I hit "okay" I get the same "you can't open your current photo library ..." message again.
    2.  Ran software update - no sign that iPhoto is out of date.
    3.  Copied new version of iPhoto from brand new MBAir to MBPro, replacing older version .  Got same "you can't open your current photo library ..." message again.
    4.  Tried to rebuild library using new version of iPhoto - guess what - same message.
    5.  Downloaded free trial version of iPhoto Library Manager as suggested in the thread referenced above.  The dmg loads to my desktop just fine but nothing happens when I click on it -- this has never happened before.  Perhaps it is looking for iPhoto, which of course I can't get to work.
So I have been unable to access my old iPhoto library with (sob) thousands and thousands of family photos in it.  I run TimeMachine on to an external hard drive every hour so I hope that if my iPhoto library is corrupted, there is a safe copy on that external drive ...
Between this hassle -- hours of time wasted -- and recent debacle of upgrading iTunes which erased my library and all of my playlists, which also took hours and hours to restore ... my 25 year devotion to Apple products is taking a major hit.  I'm getting very weary of heart-pounding fear every time a new software upgrade arrives ... but that's a topic for another time. ;-)
Thank you very much indeed for all suggestions.

I'm going to start from scratch as  the link you references is very, very old.
Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and try to create a new, test library and import some photos. If you are able to then the problem lies with your current library. If you get the same message then maybe the iPhoto application is the problem.
Try the following again:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy)  of your library and apply the three fixes in order as necessary.
    Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your HD/User/Home()/ Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your HD/User/Home()/Library /Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If all of these fail there's one more option:
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1.  Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the each subfolder in the Originals folder (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the entire Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.

  • How to delete iPhone camera roll's photos in new version Photos for Mac

    Hi,
Before upgrade to new version Photos for Mac. I was using iPhoto + Photo Stream to manage all the photos took from my iPhone.
Photo Stream will upload all new photos to iPhoto; when I connect iPhone to my mac, I can use iPhoto to delete my iPhone's camera roll's photos to clear the storage space.
After I upgraded to Photos; the Photo Stream still running well, all new photos also upload to Photos' library, however, when I connect iPhone to my mac.
Photos doesn't offer me any method to delete my iPhone camera roll's photos.
What I can find is "Import Selected" or "Import All" and "Delete items after import" these functions are doesn't help.
Because, all the photos are already imported by Photo Stream, when I click "Import All", all the imported photos will "RE-IMPORT" again and the photos will duplicate in my library.
This is also a BUGS in Photos because in old version iPhoto when I import a photo which has already imported before, the software will pop-up a Dialogue Box to ask me options to choose between "Skip" or "Overwrite" or "Duplicate".
Do anyone know how to delete the iPhone camera roll's photos by using new version Photos?
    Thank you very much.

Re: How can I delete duplicate photos?

  • Why linked parameter disappears from report in newer versions?

We are migrating some applications from Crystal Reports 9 and VB6 to C# and Crystal Reports 13.0. We are using same old .rpt without modifications. Some of them contain sub reports with linked parameters pointing to formula fields, and when we try to print or export the reports they are returning an error like this.
Error in formula  Record_Selection: '{TRN_FILE.TRN_POST_DT} <= {?Pm-@MonthOf}  ' This field is not known.
Opening the .rpt file with older version (CR9) and taking a look to Change subreport links presents the ?Pm-@MonthOf parameter but when we use newer version of crystal reports (SAP CR 2013)  to open the same file the linked parameter disappears from sub report links.
Any idea of why this could be happening? , the only way we have found to make reports work in newer version is adding linked parameters again in design mode, but having a lot of reports with this same problem we want this to be our last option.
    Thanks for your comments.

    Hi Jorge
You don't mention the database so it is difficult to provide useful info. Couple of things I can suggest:
Enable the option "Verify on first refresh"
    Download CR 2013 (v. 14.1.x) from here:
SME Free Trials | SME Software | SAP
and see if the report will run there.
