Using referenced files in Aperture and changing names of Master files
My Aperture library (masters) are stored on an external hard drive. The label for each image is simply the one that the camera supplied on the SD card. After importing the images into Aperture, I give them a more meaningful version name. Is there a way I can now add those version names to the masters stored on the external hard drive? (I would eliminate the numbers provided by the camera) Please give specific steps if this is possible. Thank you so very much!
You can change the name of the Master as it is imported into Aperture, have a look at the manual regarding Import Options:

For masters already added to your library you can rename them to match the version names, have a look at the manual regarding Renaming Master Image Files:

Lightroom changes file date (build and changeing date) by jpg files

I am using Lightroom on Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Problem is that Lightroom changes both dates of the file (the date when the file was build and the date when you have made changings on the file) when i save the Metadates to the file.
This happens only by jpg files. By raw / xmp files is the date of the raw file not changed, the both dates of the xmp are also changed like by jpg.
I want not to change the time when the file was build. So that i can see in the Finder / Explorer when the file was build ( Photo taken).
How can I solve this Problem.
Thanks for HelpDo not save the metadata to the files. It's quite unnecessary to do so, but of course, you should have full backups of the images and the catalog(s) [.lrcat].

Why are my png blurry/pixelated after i used the vanishing point filter and save as a VSP file? And i'm using a high res picture. I'm using PS CC.

Thanx in advanceAs I posted before, I would use it more if it had some of the functionality I need. I need to be able to change the opacity of the image I'm pasting so I can see EXACTLY where my overlaid image will register with the bottom image. VP seems to require a ton of processing and I wonder if maybe the software is handing off some of this work to the graphics card for calculating. Maybe this would explain that apparently not many people have run into an error that gets embedded in the file. Although my G5 is Apple stock, not super-modified.

It should be much easier to re-link in the Pagemaker file, as, with any luck, you can get the filenames from the Graphics Manager. After conversion to InDesign, any out-of-date linked images get their names converted to something like "image 123.jpg", and are themselves converted to an embedded low res representation of the image. Even vectored art. Pretty hard to figure them out, unless you are VERY familiar with the file, which you may be.
It may be that any cropping gets lost, too? I do prepress work, we do some set up for our customers, but most comes in pretty much ready to go, so I don't often have to did too deep into fixing such issues. On the other hand, any problem that can happen has probably crossed my desk, or it seems that way some days! -
I can't seem to find a way to update the date/time of a master file. There is a format issue but I can't seem to figure out how to correct it.
Aperture was not able to adjust the date and time of the master file “2008-06-22 at 14-41-14.jpg” because it has a format that does not permit date modification.Can you post an ipconfig /all from the server and the DC?

Also, take a look at FTP Browser.vi, which is available at the Example Finder.
To edit a XML file, try to use VIs in XML palette. Maybe Write to XML.vi helps you.
Post your current VI if possible.

Corrupt files in Aperture and RAM upgrade
I have been having trouble with some corrupted Files in Aperture and after reading some discussion groups I was led to beIieve it might be a hardware problem and not just a software bug-some people experiencing similar problems traced it back to bad RAM. I performed a Hardware test w/ the Mac OS start-up disc. The results indicated this error code:

Can anyone help me here? Does this indicate there's a problem w/ the RAM in my DIMM2?
I'm running a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5, OS 10.4.9. Quite a while ago I added 2 1GB RAM modules tro complement the original 512.

G5 Mac OS X (10.4.9)Yeah, sounds like it's a bad chip. Remove the chip from the DIMM2/J13 slot (you'll have to remove it's pair too) and run the test again to make sure the others work. Too bad with the original 512 it probably won't let you open aperture (though you can hack it to work.)
Depending on the ram it could be under warrenty. I had a crucial chip that tested bad and the replaced it no questions asked. -

How to change name of uploaded file
I am using the a multi-part form and the pl/sql gateway to enable users to upload files to portal. The files automatically get stored in the wwdoc_document$ table. The key to the file is a column called "name" which consists of a sequence number and the file type e.g. 4747.gif.. I want to change this name to a different value.
When I change it using the standard sql Update statement, none of the pdk apis work on the record; they all return errors. I am able to change this value as long as I use a unique value, I just can't run any of the wwdoc apis against the row after that.
Does anyone know how to change this value for a given row???

How to change name of home file on mac
Hi, not entirely sure of the name of this file. Currently it is "anthonycullinane" which is my fathers name, it was changed when my iMac was taken into an apple store for a service, i don't have a clue why it would've been changed but i'd like to change it back
if you look in the favourites bar in the finder window you'll see what i mean.
I've attempted to "unlock" the file to allow changes to be made but there is no option to rename the file. The text input is grey and doesn't allow changeYou cannot rename your user account name easily. You need to do some extra steps and use the root user, so be very careful and make a backup of your files before modifying anything.

I was trying to take ownership & fix permissions on Home Folder/My Documents structures, I ran into the common problem in PowerShell where Set-Acl & Get-Acl return access denied errors. The error occurs because the Administrators have been removed from
file permissions and do not have ownership of the files,folders/directories. (Assuming all other permissions like SeTakeOwnershipPrivilege have been enabled.
I was not able to find any information about someone successfully using native PS to resolve the issue. As I was able to solve the issues surrounding Get-Acl & Set-Acl, I wanted to share the result for those still looking for an answer.
Question: How do you use only Powershell take ownership and reset permissions for files or folders you do not have permissions or ownership of?
Problem:
Using the default function calls to the object fail for a folder that the administrative account does not have permissions or file ownership. You get the following error for Get-Acl:

Final Thought: There are great non-PS tools like
Set-Acl and takeown which are external to PS & can also do the job wonderfully. It may be much simpler to call those tools than recreate the wheel in pure
