only happens when I skype family in Canada...starts telling me poor signal then it seems to close skype down and tell me I am off line........
Dont have a problem with skype within the UK

I would suspect that your Anti-Virus application blocked that download. Have you tried downloading it using IE?
As far as Firefox and Skype, Firefox doesn't "use" Skype, and Skype doesn't need Firefox to work. But there is a problem with the '''Skype Toolbar extension for Firefox''' causing all sorts of problems for many Firefox users. Currently the Skype extension is '''blocklisted''' by Mozilla due to all the crashes is it responsible for in 3.6.13 and the 4.0betas.

Firefox cut off access to the Internet.
In a first time, Firefox completely cut the connection forcing me to restart the Mac OS 10.6.4.
I restored a version of Firefox antecedent using Time Machine than a month old.
Now, the connection problem is only partial and Firefox more accesses to the Internet.
In addition, I must force the software to quit and when I try to restart Firefox, a message tells me that "A copy of Firefox is already open. A single copy of Firefox can be open to both "...?? ?
You said weird? Someone has an idea on how to solve this?

Does the unlocked 3g/wifi enable me to use it both Canada and Mexico. Which carriers would I need to contact and do they need to supply me with a special sim card?

You should be able to roam on local networks with either the AT&T model or the Verizon model in both countries. That may cost you an arm and a leg. Here in Mexico you can buy a local TelCel SIM card for MN$150, that should work with the AT&T model. There are instructions that you can find with a web search for how to cut the SIM card to micro-SIM size to use in your iPad 2.

Nokia N8 Video Chat using Skype

Please provide video chat facility using skype in Nokia N8.

Have you used fring? looks like a 3rd grader made it, and operates much like spyware. its terrible. I see people been saying just wait, patience blah blah, that was dec 2010, a full year ago. this n8 is almost obsolete the way the trends are going. i have a feeling skype dumped all efforts for providing video on s3. but that is thier right, they are a 3rd party.
actually for nokia this is pathetic,i have long been a nokia supporter, they always market good product but the full potential of those products are seen a year or more after launch through fw updates. its nonsense, even my n95 had front camera, so does my n8. yet no decent app to run it online. we have video call thru 3g here in canada but its expensive.
apple comes with a front camera and bundled it with facetime in the SAME stroke, no hesitation, no sitting around waiting when i can realize my devices full capability. really nokia for a multi billion dollar organization, listen to your customers, this has been going on for a while. atleast make the current fanbase happy ie n8 users, or we will refuse to buy n9 (which does not have a native video call app either) and forget about lumia, no ffc altogether. but, which better than paying for the feature and not being able to use.
if i could i would make an app myself, but its your responsibility, your product, and your fw. i see nokia is tying many aspects to facebook these days, well facebook chat on pc has webcam support, here's a tip: work with that!

Do you have access to another computer so you could download another browser, perhaps onto a USB stick and then install it on your Mac just to see if the problem is Safari specific:

Firefox cutting off part of swf

Hi - I created a swf and embedded it in a page. When I test it locally, it's fine but when I upload to my test server Firefox cuts off the bottom and right, where the navigation is. I did strip down the embed code because this is going into a CMS.There are other pages on the site with swfs using the same embed code and these work properly. The same thing happened with the original html generated by Flash Catalyst - fine locally, cutting off once uploaded to server.

Using Skype with Digidesign Mbox soundcard?

not sure if this is in the right section for posting? I need to know how to configure Skype to use with my isight cam & digidesign m box. I configured it in the preferences then I tried the skype test call & i can hear the audio for about a second then it cuts out? At the moment i can use skype with the audio coming in from the built-in speaker on my mac but wanted it to come through the mbox soundcard?
Can anyone help?

I run an iMac with an original Mbox and FCE. It works fine most of the time. Occasionally it does boot without engaging the digidesign core audio driver. If that happens, go into your computer system preferences....click internal speakers (to switch to internal)...then click your digidesign hardware (to switch back to the Mbox)....and then it might work. Not sure why clicking and unclicking solves the problem, but it does.

Boss wants to use Skype

My boss has a hearing aid and a hearing loop set up in his office with his computer plugged into the amplifier. Since he can hear everything from his computer very well, Skype would seem a good choice but he would like people to be able to call him and we are in Canada. I was wondering if we can purchase a US Skype number and use it here in Canada? We would set up a subscription for calls in Canada and the US but he would like to be able to see incoming calls on his computer in a small window and record it for interviews that he conducts for business (with permission of course).

If I upgrade from 3.6, can I still use Skype?

I have had reminders to upgrade from 3.6 but understand from a recent article in Computeractive magazine that I cannot continue to use Skype with later upgrades. Will you please let me have your comments. I am using Vista 32 system.

My opinion is to get more RAM. I found 512MB to be too little for Firefox '''3''', and I rarely have multiple windows open and rarely more that 10 tabs open.
Try Firefox Portable first, and then if the Portable works to your satisfaction think about about upgrading to 8.0. Firefox Portable won't mess with your current Firefox installation, it installs completely separate.

As far as Firefox 3.6 goes, it will probably be around for another 5 months or so as a currently supported version, as far as security updates are concerned.

Cant use skype with airport extreme

i am exploring the idea of using skype for calls to canada from my iphone and eliminating my land line. i subscribed to the service and am having difficulty with connecting via wifi at home over airport extreme. Getting a connection seems to be hit or miss. i was connected a couple of times. i read in the skype support pages that airport is a closed network and will not support a skype connection. i found information about opening file sharing and modifying some port access. before i start playing around with that, i thought somebody out there has figured this out.

I don't know where you read that, but I'd question the source. The term "closed network" in this context is a non-sequitur.
Skype works fine with AirPort, even the older 802.11g version. It requires no special configuration. I haven't used it with an iPhone, but Skype worked with an iPod Touch (no mic though ) and runs fine even on my ancient G3 iMac. I'd speculate your internet connection might be too slow for reliable voice communication, but it is also possible the wireless connection to your iPhone may be a limiting factor.

Travel and using skype

Wondering about using skype while traveling to Spain and calling home to Canada. When buying credit do I use Canada as the country I will be calling. I do not see where it asks for the country I am calling from. Anyone help me with this. K

Check the rates page for Canada to find the cost and it doesn't matter where in the world you're calling from, the rate is the same.
