Using two LED displays...brightness on left hand monitor. How?

Just installed a second 27 inch monitor and new 5770 card. All seems to work well, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to adjust the brightness on the left hand monitor. My desktop is on the right monitor. How do I adjust the brightness on the left one? I am stumped.
Thanks to all.
Best.
Tom

Also - as you probably know, there are brightness keys on the apple keyboard which increase and decrease the brightness of the main screen.  What I just discovered however is if you hold down the control key and press these brightness keys it will adjust the brightness of the SECONDARY monitor.  Cool huh?  These Apple guys are always thinking!
In case it matters, I am using:
Mountian Lion on a Mac PRO w/Apple keyboard & dual Apple 27" LED Cinema displays.
Cheers!

  • In Firefox 29.0, how can I pin the bookmarks so they are all displayed on the left hand side (all the time)?

Before the Firefox 29.0 upgrade, I had my bookmark list constantly displayed on the left-hand side of the Firefox screen. How can I get that in version29.0?
Right now I have to click on the bookmark button and then on Bookmark menu to get to see my bookmarks. I want them permanently "pinned" to the left-hand side of the screen. Just moving the bookmark button is not enough.

You can find the "View Bookmarks Sidebar" in the drop-down list of the "Show your bookmarks" button that is the dropmarker part of the star on the Navigation Toolbar to bookmark the current page.
There is also a "Show Sidebars" icon in the Customize palette that you can drag on a toolbar or the "3-bar" Firefox menu to have access to the same items that you see in "View > Sidebars" (tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu bar).

    18. What is the maximum resolution available for use with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter?
The resolution available with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter is 1920 x 1200. VGA displays that use higher refresh rates (such as 85 Hz) at resolutions of 1600 x 1200 or greater may not generate video properly until you lower the refresh rate.

    How can I detect displays?
If the detect displays option is not available, hold down the Option key while you are in the Display pane.
How do I select additional resolutions on my display?
You can use the Display pane of System Preferences to specify how your display works. Not all options appear for all display models. By default the best resolution for your display will already be selected in System Preferences.
To select a different resolution, use the Scaled option. Some additional resolutions may be available when you hold the Option button.
I hope this information helps ....

  • Report displayed in top left hand corner

    Post Author: hplloyd
    CA Forum: .NET
    Hi,
I have a .NET 2 windows application using Crystal Reports XI release 2 SP2
When I display a report in the viewer is is presented in the top left hand corner (rather than centrally)
If I then change the zoom on the viewer the report moves to the center of the viewer control.
How do I make the report open in the centre of the viewer when I first look at the report.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards

Well, I just took a close look at duplicating your issue; No go.
As I mentioned in my previous post, unless you help me help you, we are not moving this forward. Give me detailed instructions on how to reproduce the issue. Give me a sample app that demos the issue. I am literaly pleading with you here to help me help you. So far I have only got complaints. For your information here is what I did:
    Simple one line app:
Make sure the form takes up the whole screen (WindowsState = Maximized)
StartPosition for the WinForm; WindowsDefaultLocation (tried others also)
    Code:
    Public Sub New()
' This call is required by the designer.
            InitializeComponent()
' Add any initialization after the InitializeComponent() call.
            CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = "c:\crystal\reports\formulas.rpt"
    End Sub
I fooled around with docking, no docking, anchoring and still I do not see any issue. See screenshot of what I see.
Now it's up to you to tell me what to modify to get the behavior you see. Also, let me know why the work-around given at StackOverflow.com is not acceptable. Perhaps that will help me understand the issue also. Finally, confirm that you have a default printer installed.

  • I lost that orange rectangular Firefox button that used to be in the upper left hand corner of my screen? How do I get it back?

What else can I say? I used to have an orange rectangular box or button with Firefox on it, in the upper left hand corner of my screen. When I clicked on it a drop down pad appeared. IT'S GONE!

Right click menu bar, untick "menu bar" in the options that you see.

  • Using the LED display as a heater!

    Hello,
I'm living in a student dorm in UK and it's pretty cold in the night.
My central heater is not always turning on and I always have a trouble complaining to the accommodation office.
Now I have a 24" LED cinema display and my problem is gone. I can feel strong background heat in my room after having the display turned on about 1 hour.
So it's a buy-1-get-1-free: Display and a room heater in one prize. Cool, isn't it? (Well, I mean, hot...)
Back to serious thing. I would like to know if it is a normal for a LED display. Since I never had a display before, only had a laptop.
I touched everywhere of the screen, back and front, and feel the same heat dispersed all over its body. There is especially heat coming out from the bottom mesh, where I always put a cup of tea there and keep it warm.
Overall, no problem for me, but I don't know if it will cause any damage to the display in the long run. I have no AppleCare for this display because I did not purchase the same time as my laptop, and purchase a new protection plan is expensive though.

Mine gets very warm also. Remember the power source is now inside of the display. Its vented at the bottom, and helps to keep my hands warm while typing. But its perfectly normal. If you check the LED displays at the Apple stores, they too generate a lot of heat. Even my 40" Sony XBR LCD TV gets warm, so I think that is normal.

  • Apple LED Display Brightness

    Hello,
I have my Apple LED display connected to my Mac Pro via the Nvidia GT 120. How do I turn the brightness up or down? Connecting it to a MacBook Pro, there is a brightness display on the Display preferences, but not when I connect it to my Mac Pro.
I also tried the F1 and F2 keys and also FN + F1/F2. Is there anything I can do?
    Thanks!

Ahhh, that must be it. I can't connect it to my Mac Pro, since it's not long enough. Waiting on my extension to arrive on Friday. Once I connect the USB, does it work with F1/F2 keys or only in Display settings? Thanks!!!

  • Using two external displays that are NOT mirrored

i have a MBP early 2008, meaning the external display port is a dual DVI-I port. I have have two external displays, both samsung syncmaster xl2370 with native resolution 1920x1080. i have a dual dvi-i to vga splitter. when i connect both displays, they mirror one another, which is not what i want. rather, i want to have my MBP display, and two external displays that are not mirror images of one another. according to apple, if i buy a dual dvi-i to dvi splitter, i get the same effect. i've read on various forums about hardware alternatives, like buying a usb to dvi or usb to vga adapter, with some reasonable results (except a bit of sluggishness). the best one seems to be the diamond: http://www.diamondmm.com/BVU195.php
it mostly gets good reviews, but is sluggish. does any know of any better options?
    many thanks, jovo

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
USB is slow partly because it is processor and driver dependent. Best to go with a straight video solution, such as Matroxes products like this one: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go/

  • In a previous version I could have my bookmarks in a left hand pane, how can I do this in version 21.0?

I have a new computer with version 21.0 of Firefox. My previous machine, running XP - rather old - allowed me to (optionally) have my bookmarks as a list on the left hand side of the screen. The options were none, bookmarks or history in a pane that was created on the fly. (If none, the pane did not appear.) It was a really useful feature I would like to be able to do the same in my new version. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

  • LED display, bright edges, specially left and right

    I have a mbp 5.1 late 2008 model received jan 2009.
My display/screen is becoming brighter and brighter at the left and right edges.
If i look at a black screen, the left/right edges are not black but getting brighter than the rest of the screen.
As this computer is primarily for serious photo processing, this is really annoying and if it gets worse its a computer who cant be used at all.
Any ideas ? Any trips/trix to conquer the problem....or are the display pure and simply defect (great...just outside 2 years complaint period)

    Hello Dominic,
    It is not normal.
Sometimes my windows are rounded the way yours are and sometimes they are not.
Click on the picture of my post to zoom and see the problem.
Here is another screenshot, this time with a windows which has no issues :

  • My head feels warm & bit dizzy when using 24" LED Display

What is the level of radiation out of this thing? I'm using it with a distance about 70-90cm from the display. Anyone else experiencing the same symptoms?

Today's flatscreen monitors have a far lower level of radiation than just about any of the CRT monitors and TVs that used to be everywhere. (Early CRTs were pretty bad in this respect, even the original Apple 13-inch.) If you're experiencing health issues, it's much more likely to be related to something like eyestrain, especially because the factory-set brightness level of a typical LCD is much higher than any CRT could ever reach. Many pros dial down the brightness quite a lot so that it matches prints better.
If you still have problems, avoid speculation and see a doctor about the real cause.

  • What is the best way to use two external displays at the same time?

One of my displays has HDMI, DVI, and VGA inputs. The other has VGA and DVI inputs.

Kappy is dead on correct about Bridge Mode as a requirement for the Time Capsule.
Do you know how to check to see if the Time Capsule is configured this way?
Next question.....you really should not try to have two wireless networks....one Arris and another Time Capsule.....unless it is absolutely necessary. Two wireless routers in close proximity can create wireless interference effects that can cause problems with either...or both...networks.
Best to turn off the wireless on one router to keep the chances of wireless interference between routers minimized.
Are both the Arris and Time Capsule providing wireless signals?
