Using ValueHolder Indirection With Method Accessing

I am trying to use method getters/setters with value indirection member as described in the documentation
(http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28218/mapcfg.htm#CEGFHCJF).
My code modifies the mapping with the following lines:
SessionFactory sf= LocatorLocator.getPersistence().getSessionFactory();

You only need to set the method name without parameters.
m.setSetMethodName("setScheduledStartingLocationHolder");Since these methods will typically only be used by TopLink you can make them protected or private.

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:

If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

Can I use Web Services with Microsoft Access?

I'm somewhat handy with Microsoft Access (2003 in particular), but not an expert. Macros? No problem. VBA? I'd be hard pressed to code anything from scratch, but I'm not too bad with modifying code/examples to fit my particular scenario. So, if anything about this doesn't ring quite right, now you'll know why. Some years ago I worked with another guy to develop a module that used REST(?) to query some web services at Yahoo!. If that worked, I was hoping that I could do similar things with CRMOD I was thinking, for example, I might want to get the Opportunity Sales Stage for a number of records. And since there are tools for Excel and Word, I thought Access might work, too. As a starting point, I imagine I need to use the Web Services Toolkit for Office 2003. But frankly, I don't even know where to go beyond that.
Am I wasting my time? Any suggestions for an intro to web services?

I just knew that the keyword transient is being used to ignore the Java serialization for variables.
Could we use this for class methods??

Rather than simply memorizing the factoid of whether or not the transient keyword may be applied to methods, take the time to understand what transient means. If you remember the purpose of marking a member transient, you'll have no problem with answering correctly on the test.

Using ops$ accounts with Database Access Descriptors

Hi, I have installed and configured the Photo Album demo under 9i on Windows 2000 with no problems. I wish to use the operating system via oracle ops$ accounts to provide access to the Db through the Database Access Descriptor using the Gateway Database Access Descriptor Configuration tool. While the ops$ accounts I have configured work as expected under sqlplus, i.e. I am able to login to the Db without manually supplying a username and password e.g. sqlplus / , there does not seem to be a way of configuring the DAD to accept ops$ accounts for access to the photo album demo. Please can anyone confirm this to be the case and/ or provide an alternative solution. Kind regards.

I am pretty sure if you specify a DB username and password in dads.conf, you will not need to log in. Also, there is a tool to encrypt the password so it is not in clear text in the config file.
From the dads.README For 10:
- One or more mod_plsql specific directives. For example:

PlsqlDatabasePassword tiger
PlsqlDatabaseConnectString orcl
PlsqlAuthenticationMode Basic
I am on 10 now, so I don't personally know if it the same on 9. I don't use the DADs tool either, but you should be able to set a username/password for the dad so that there is not a need to login.
It would be best to ask in the HTMLDB forum, they would know better.

Enterprise DNS servers are not responding when using Windows NLB with Direct Access 2012

We have installed Direct Access 2012 as one server installation:
- Two network cards. First one in DMZ and second one in internal network
- Two consecutive IP addresses configured in DMZ because of Teredo
- PKI because of Win7 Clients IPSec
- Our corporate network is native IPv4 so we use DNS64/NAT64 and DA-server is configured as DNS
- DA-servers are VMWare virtual machines
One server installation works fine and now we want to use Windows NLB as load balancing. NLB installation goes fine too,
but problem is DNS. If we still try to use DA-server as DNS there comes error message below
None of the enterprise DNS servers 2002:xxxx:xxxx:3333::1 used by DirectAccess clients for name resolution are responding. This might affect DirectAccess client connectivity to corporate resources.
When trying to configure DNS using Infrastructure access setup, DNS cannot be validated when using DA-servers DIP or cluster VIP. Only domain local DNS looks to be ok but those have no IPv6 addressess. So how DNS should be configured when using multicast
NLB?
Tried to remove name suffix then adding again => Detect DNS server => DA-server IPv6 address found => validate => The specified DNS server is not responding...
Then tried to ping detected address => General failure
NLB clusters are configured as multicast and static ARPs are configured too. Both clusters can be connected from those subnets as they should be.
Any clues how to fix this?

Using windows program with remote access.

I have to work with a complex electronic medical records program (Allscripts) remotely from home on my Mac. The program is not really Mac friendly. It has to run on Java at home and it requires "right click, left click" operations on the pc that I can't figure out how to make work on the Mac. Any suggestions on how this may be able to work?

Yes, I have read it. Good information, and it has gotten me close. If I follow what it says, I can get directly into insert mode ... however, update and delete buttons still exist.
Here are the exacts in my situation:
1) created a dynamic page that creates a link generated from the function 'Portal30.wwv_user_utilities.get_url('my_application.my_link','parameter_name','parameter_value');'. Notice no relational operator.
2) created a form that is based upon table 'b'. The value passed to this form by step 1 is a foreign key from table 'a'.
3) created a link object that references form identified in step 2.
By clicking on the link generated by the dynamic page (with a parameter set and no conditional operators set), we go to the form in insert mode but we see all buttons. After your last note I decided to try a new, fresh, Portal generated form based upon table 'b', making the primary key and the foreign key hidden. I modified the link to reference this new form. By clicking the link, I go to the form in insert mode, but ALL buttons are showing, including query, next, and previous, even though some of these buttons are invalid.
I am using 3.07.? We are in the middle of installing 3.08 or 3.09, whichever we can get running first. My dba is out for the week, so I will not be able to upgrade until next week.
Any thoughts you have would be helpful. I am on the verge of creating 2 forms, but I don't want the code duplication if I can help it.

Method accessing by reflection

I am using ValueHolder Indirection, but my attributes must be private and I don't know what should be the signature of the accessor methods that toplink will try to find by reflection.
Does TopLink try to guess the method signature based on the attribute name and type?
Example: private ValueHolderInterface userType;
-> public void setUserType(ValueHolderInterface) and public ValueHolderInterface getUserType()
I looked at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/doc/1013/main/_html/mapcfg003.htm#CEGDDEEA but I couldn't find out if I would be obliged to specify what would be the accessor methods.

TopLink uses reflection to access private variable. Since TopLink is not really creating new objects as the application does, but really resorting the state of previously existing objects similar to Java serialization it normally makes sense for it to be using direct variable access, as this typically avoids undesired side effects that get/set method may contain.
However, using variable versus method access is completely up to you, TopLink supports both. To use method access you must supply the get/set method names to the mapping, TopLink does not guess these, although the Mapping Workbench will fill these in for you if you select method access for the project default. For mappings using ValueHolder indirection you must provide get/set methods that return/set the ValueHolderInterface, not its value. Or you can use direct variable access for these.

Your solution is very appropriate but in my case it should be from "<UserAccount> Properties: Environment Tab " mentioned in the second article.
I did try it but nothing happened. The user get a normal login with a desktop even it is mentioned, in the Environment Tab's help, that only the specific program will be executed.
I think the problem is the server is not configured with "Remote Desktop Server Role". I did that configuration but I cannot restart the machine until
Saturday. Hope it will work out!! Also, I still don’t know with what kind of credentials the specific software will run upon client's login.

Access table cells using tab key with iterators

Hi,
I use a tableview with iterator and allow users to mouseclick certain column cells. I capture these user interactions using server event "onCellClick". But I cannot access these cells using tab key instead of mouse click. But tab key is a must for visibly challenged users. Is there any way to access table cells using tab keys (with iterators)?
I use icons in those cells to replace check box and change the icons to differentiate checked/unchecked status.

Thanks for your effort.
But I was able to solve my problem. I don't think I gave all the information to simulate my problem in your environment. I used images in certain table cells and was not able to access those cells using tab key or access key. Tag <img> doesn't have the attributes tabindex and access key.
I solved the problem by surrounding the <img> by anchor tag <A>, which has both attributes. I did these changes within the iterator method RENDER_CELL_START using CL_BSP_BEE_TABLE.
In the event handling, I had to do separate processing for mouse click event and key press event for those cells.
For visibly challenged users:
They can access those cells by tab key or access key and the key press event is used to capture when they hit enter key.
So this problem is irrelevant to service packages (SP38,..).

It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly.

I migrated from a USB2 external hard drive (when it failed) to the Firewire 800 and have not looked back. I also sync from that primary drive to a secondary backup drive (still USB2). Everything I do with the firewire drive is significantly faster than USB2.
