Using Workshop with portal on a different machine

Hi,
I am using the workshop on my local machine and I have one portal which is
installed on a machine which is in the same network (linux). Can anyone
please help me, how I can use the workshop with the portal on a different
server? I only managed to get it working on my local machine.

Michael,
The easist (but probably not the best) option is to create an ear file, and deploy
it to the linux server.
I believe it would also be possible to create an nfs-style mount between your
linux server and your workshop PC, then change the references in workshop to the
new directory structure and server IP address/port number.
I think this should work.
Ie; Create your nfs mount from your linux svr to say on g:\ (workshop pc)
Then create your application in workshop, save it to the g:\ drive,
Change your app settings to access the server on the linux svrs' IP /port, user/password
Hit Deploy app, or preview a page.
With a little bit of fiddling/luck you should be able to get this running.

Using WLI with Portal

Hi!
Is anyone using BEA portal for user authentication and personalization along with
Integration for workflow??? Looking at the two sets of examples and full functionality
of wli it appears that the two should be easily tied together... Any thoughts
or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I need help using the impdb utility on a different machine to the export...

I have recieved an export from a ClearQuest database, built on Oracle.
It's a 6GB file xxx_full_dpdump.dmp, with a corresponding .log.
This was exported from a different Oracle instance on a different machine.
I'd like to import this dump file into my Oracle instance.
I tried to use imp, and received the following error: IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header
After a bit of reading, I think this may becase I should be using impdp.
BUT... when trying to use impdp, I'm not sure how to structure the syntax? specifically, what is DIRECTORY?
As this is export is from a different machine, the directory that it was exported to is not on my machine.
When running ...
impdp username/password directory=MyDirectoryThatContainsTheDmp DUMPFILE=xxx_full_dpdump.dmp
... I receive:
ORA-39002: invalid operation
ORA-3970: Unable to open the log file
ORA-3907: directory name MyDirectoryThatContainsTheDpm is invalid

Thanks, I'm using Windows XP SP3 and Oracle 11g (11.2.0.1.0)
So I've now granted the right permissions, it seems and The Impdp now executes (Hoorar!)
The command I'm running is:
impdp username/password directory=DATA_PUMP_DIR dumpfile=xxx_full_dpdump.dmp REMAP_SCHEMA=MYUSER:Test;
... where MYSUER is who I'm logged in as running this command; and Test is just a word, I haven't created anything called this myself.
BUT ... I get a few thousand errors around
- Cannot add file ... file has an Oracle Managed Files file name
- CREATE USer ..... failed tablespace XXX does not exist
- lots of "already exists" errors for users and tables.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I though these would all be created as new items under MYUSER.

server A: Portal 7.0 in WAS 7.0 (2004s) with BP ESS and XSS components
server B: backend ECC 5.0 with EA-HR SP38.
But I am having problems to run some ESS webdynpro iViews (specially personnel info);
According this note: 1007341; this landscape is not supported because is necessary use a separate instance of WAS 6.40 in order to run XSS components.
Why??? Which is the technical reason that I cannot use the j2ee stack from EP 7.0? SAP information about this is so confusing.
if this is impossible to realize, I can use this alternative?:

This is not supported by a specifically problem? Or can I do if I have a problem and I can fix it with some patch?
Anybody has experiencie using this scheme: Portal 7.0 agains ECC 5.0 for use BP ESS/MSS?

Ok, its true.
My intention is to confirm if is possible install a Java instance in the same server that ECC is running with Abap instance.
My confusion is because note 1007341, in "deviations" part, says:
ECC 5.0 (ERP 2004 back-end system),
XSS 500 on a separate J2EE 6.40, EP NW04s
with business packages ESS and MSS (SAP ERP 2004).
The SAP system only supports this system landscape
if you have installed XSS 500 on a separate J2EE 6.40.
Then, would I install abap stack, and java stack as separate instances (not add-in!) ? and this landscape is supported acordding this note?
(in the example, A and C are in the same server)

Can I share smart collections with other users across different machines ?

My requirement is to create a smart collection on one machine and share it with other team members. Is this possible in Bridge CS4.
Any help would be appreciated.

the collections should be stored in c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS4\Collections\ (hidden folders and it's also different for xp) though i never tried to see if they still work on different machines but they reference the local files so you'll need to have the same files in the same locations on those machines for them to work.

iWeb is an application you can use to create webpages with.
Formerly it was part of iLife. But it is discontinued.
It doesn't work with airplay.
And since this forum is about iWeb, chances are very slim you will get an answer in this forum.
Why not ask in the Apple TV, iPod touch or iPad forums?

Exporting Portal to a different machine

We are having to move our Portal from an installation on one machine to another - I gather this is covered by an 'Export/Import' processes by Oracle - although I can find some documentation about doing this for just a database, I can't find any documentation for exporting a portal.
Can you point me in the right direction?

Time Machine does not provide archival storage.
If you delete a file from your disk it will eventually be deleted from your TM backup without any notice to you.
You need a second external disk to use for archival storage.
You also need a third disk for backups of the second disk.

Servlet forward not working with portal and oc4j

Scenario: page1.jsp, page2.jsp, MyServlet
Page1.jsp posts a form to MyServlet which then does some processing and forwards to page2.jsp.
Tests:
Works fine as a standalone app under oc4j.
Does not work as oc4j-driven portlet under latest portal. Specifically, it conks out on the forward.
Question:
Why?
What is the suggested workaround?

James, thanks for responding but you are misunderstanding the problem. I have been able to do multipage and form-submit portlets as you describe for a long time. The issue is I am not able to use the jsp-forward directive within a validation servlet when using oc4j with portal. Here is what I'm trying to do in pseudocode:
EntryPoint.jsp
1. Enter form data.
2. Submit form to MyServlet.
MyServlet
1. Validate form.
2. If valid, <jsp-forward page="success.jsp"/>.
3. Else, <jsp-forward page="failure.jsp"/>.
The above works fine when used in an app running on oc4j outside of portal. It does not work when the same oc4j app is portletized. By the way, the portletized app WILL work if I change jsp-forward to jsp-include. So the problem is obviously in the forwarding.

I would try looking at the samples in the PDK-Java V2 that show how to do form input and multipage behavior. The form input shows you how to make a form in a portlet that when you submit it, the entered values appear in the portlet. The multipage portlet shows you how to have a portlet display one page and then when you click on a link, it shows you the second page.
It may make sense to copy the same code used for the samples and just tweak it to create a form that passes values from page1 to page2.

I am using ajax in both sp3 and sp5. I haven't followed any standard framework. I have written a servlet to handle ajax requests more like
http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/library/j-ajax1/
to do this you need not add any extra library to portal.

Problem with NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi on different machines

We have 5 machines here in our workgroup which have the same state regarding security patches and other system updates. We recently found out that there is a problem with the NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi on the different machines.
If I would open the VI on MachineA the control could be loaded. If I would open the VI on MachineB the control could be loaded. If I would copy the VI from MachineB to MachineA and open the VI the control could not be loaded. If I would copy the VI from MachineA to MachineB and open the VI on MachineB the control could be loaded. MachineB could load the version from MachineA and MachineB but on MachineA only the own version will load. I have seen that both versions have the same GUID for the Microsoft Webbrowser but are different in some other aereas.
Since printing HTML Reports is part of the application which will be distributed as application I want to know if someone else have seen such a behaviour or has got problems distributing an application.
Also I want to know which additional information is stored in an Active-X container about the control beside the GUID.
We have Win XP Prof SP2 with MS IE 6.0.2900.2180 on all machines in the workgroup.

this is the VI <vi.lib>\Utillitiy\NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi copied from a machine that can load and run the VI and it will print. On this machine the control in the VI is white.
This VI will give the "Control could not be loaded" message on my machine.
The file shdocvw.dll is 2006-10-23 16:18 size 1.460 KB and I verifyed that both machines have the same version of this file.

Using StartTLS with IMAP connection to Exchange is giving me different certificates for machines different to the IMAP server, security exception each time

I'm using Thunderbird with my work email account, which is using Exchange, this is not officially supported but access is allowed via IMAP.
The problem is when I'm using StartTLS or SSL I'm getting multiple different self signed certificates being returned, seeming depending on which specific backend server is handling the request, each time it causes the Confirm Security Exception dialog to be displayed. If I confirm the exception I get the dialog being displayed again until eventually I get a certificate that seems to match the first certificate I confirmed, at which point I can download or send my pending mail.
Thus is seems that there is only one certificate being stored as an exception for each server connection. Is there some way round this?
