UT803 Uni-Trend Bench Multimeter Driver

Hi!
I write this in the edge of desperation for I´m REALLY new to LabView
I´m trying to use the UT803 Uni-Trend bench multimeter for data acquisition in LabView through RS232
I started searching on how to do it, and came to this posts
in this post:
http://forums.ni.com/t5/Discussions-de-produit-de-NI/Passage-RS232-vers-USB/m-p/1548790
the user says he developed his own IV for the multimeter, I reply the post trying to reach him but he´s not online since like 2008 so I guess he won´t reply soon
So I searched for the driver and found this one
http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.download_page?p_id_guid=5A2A9076B4C65AEBE04400144F1EF8...
which is for the UT804 Multimeter. I tried to use it but I don´t really know how. I just copied it to the <LabVIEW>\instr.lib like they show in here
http://www.ni.com/devzone/idnet/inetinst.htm
and now I can see the Functions -> Instrument I/O -> Instrument Drivers -> UT804 Multimeter. But when I´m to use it I´m totally lost
Having done that I searched for the driver of the UT803 from the Manufacturer CD like they say in here
http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/ut60e/m-p/172930
but there´s no DLL file, so I searched it in their homepage to see it they provided it online
http://www.uni-trend.com/UT803.html
but still no DLL to use in the driver wizard.
Having done that I looked for how to control the RS232 "Manually" so I looked in these post on how to do it
http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/ut60e/m-p/172930
http://forums.ni.com/t5/Discussions-de-produit-de-NI/Acquisition-de-trames-sur-port-serie/m-p/624378
(This one in Chinese is called) RS-232接電表一直出現錯誤
but still no clue
I did quite a research, but still I´m a starter so I guess without knowledge I can´t do much.
Can anyone help me? please I really need to get this multimeter to work
Thank you in advance

By mistake I posted this same message in: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Driver-Development-Kit-DDK/UT803-Uni-Trend-Bench-Multimeter-Driver/m-p/15495...

HI!
I'll bring back to life this threat (after so long) so someone can help me understand  how to control a device via serial without a driver, or how to program that driver.
I'll start by uploading some files
1- The ut804 driver found in the Developer Zone of NI
2- My attempt to use that driver to control the ut803 (Not working)
3- My attempt to use VISA control (In the Instrument I/O panel) (Also not working)
Now you must be thinking that an attempt using the Serial control in the Instrument I/O panel is missing, but the Test Panel in the Measurement & Automation explorer -> Serial & Parallel (COM4) brings back a timeout in any of the Input/Output commands (write, read query, etc).
Yet I have tested my serial port by shorting the 2nd and 3rd pin of serial port and tried this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM8a66g2eGo
And it works!
So I guess... Help! What am I doing wrong?
Why doesn't my Visa control attempt work?
Can anyone test it?
PS. About the RS232 settings, the UNI-T 803 Operating manual reads.
(Page 54)
C. Setting of RS232C Serial Ports
Default of RS232C serial port for communication is set as:
Baud Rate  19200
Start bit     1
Stop bit     1
Data bits   7
Parity       Odd

    hello,
I need to write a driver for Uni-trend digital multimeter mod. UT60E, but I don' t know its serial communication protocol. Can somebody help me?

    Hi,
unfortunately we do not provide a ready-to-go instrument driver in LabVIEW for the specific instrument you mentioned. You can always check on this page if there is anything that can help you in your work --> Instrument Drivers Downloads.
On the following web page you can find the instrument driver and User Manual for the device you are using. The right way to go for you might be to call the DLL provided with this device from within LabVIEW using the Call Library Function Node.

  • Use two Time Machine Drives with different settings?

Hello everybody, is it possible to use time machine with two drives and use different settings for each drive?
For example: at home I currently have two external LaCie d2 quadra drives. My plan is to leave one at home, and take one to Uni. On the drive which I have at home, I have backups of a secont parttion of the drive which I am taking to Uni, which contains some important files (about 500 GB). Is it possible to have a backup of that data partiton on the drive which I'm leaving at home, but not on the drive which I'm taking to uni?
I know that I can set up two drives to work simultaneously, but can I say to exclude folder A on drive A, but not on drive B?
    Thanks a lot in advance

Thanks for the fast reply. II'll try to make things clearer. I have two drives (let's call them drive A and B). Drive A has one partition, and is my primary back up drive. Drive B has two partitions (one with files and one for Time Machine). Currently, the files partition of Drive B is being backed up to Drive A. When I connect drive B, Time machine asks me if I want to replace the existing drive, or use both. Using both is what I want. However, I don't need Drive B to back up the files from it's second partition, as that would not make any sense; I do, however, want drive A to back up the data partition from drive B. I guess the easiest way is to manually change the settings, or just live with a larger backup....

  • Labview crash related to Virtual Bench 8012

My application consists of a Labview User Interface that calls a Teststand sequence.
The UI is very similar to what gets installed by default with TestStand.
In the TS sequence there are calls to VIs. Some of them are to the Virtual Bench 8012 driver.
    It works well.
But when I exit the Operator Interface Labview crashes. I did debug a little bit and the crash
occurs when trying to close the Teststand Engine.
If in the Teststand sequence I skip the calls to the VB8012 driver then the Labview crash does not happen.
    I am using LV2013 but TestStand2010.

  • 8mb cache drives, whats the difference between brands?

    hello,
whats the difference between maxtor, western digital and seagate(if they have 8mb cache), when it comes to the 8mb cache drives.  i know all these are good brands and basically equal.  western digital were the first right?  but in terms of noise, seeking time, heat and all.......whats the best buy?
    thanks,
    edison

All 8MB cache HDD existing now are excellent. The maxtor is slightly more recent than the WD, boasting 80GB platters against 60GB platters for the WD (hence higher density and theoritically higher transfer speed).
In the benchs, the drives are roughly equivalent (passing each other depending on the tests). Any way, no application are pushing those as far as i know.
So, choose any. WD has already a very good track record for reliability, maxtor have been leaps and bonds in this regards (read not always good, depends on model, but lately pretty good).
Your call. You cant go wrong with any.

  • Do I uninstall before installing new drive

Sorry, I am suuuurrree this has been asked a million times, but didn't see it in the FAQ.
I am putting a Sound Blaster Li've into my rig, do I need to install from the CD? If so, do I install the updated driver listed in the download section over it's Both of them, there is a big pack and one that says I need it st.
    From this page:
    http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=&sOSName=Windows+XP&regi on=&Product_Name=Li've%2+5.&Product_ID=50&modelnum ber=&driverlang=033&OS=0&drivertype=0&x=8&y=4
    Thanks.

You just install the Li've Uni-Pack, not the driver update pack. That update pack is for an update to the initial unified driver that is no longer posted.
The problem is the only software update that'll then install are the 2 PlayCenter downloads. First, 3.02.52 then 3.02.70. The other software needs a previous installation to update.
A way around this is to install the full cd from badboy's posting of Creative cd's. After that you just need the PlayCenter 3.02.70 update. It installs the same package as the Li've Uni-Pack but also has full versions of the software package.

  • KT6 VLSR and HDD S-ATA unable to install Windows XP Home

    Hi,
I can't install Windows XP home edition (with SP2 included) onto my computer (KT6 VLSR with HDD Seagate S-ATA 160 Go) : during the windows copying file process, the famous blue screen appears and Windows installation fails.
Of course, I have flashed the Bios to the latest version (with the latest RAID driver) from the MSI global website, made a floppy with the VIA PIDE/SATA RAID Drivers & Utility (downloaded from MSI website, and then from VIA's) and used it (F6) so Windows could detect the hard drive.
I checked the RAID BIOS, the CPU, the memory, the HDD, the power supply (Antec Sonata 380 W) in the BIOS : everything is fine. There is just no way to install Windows XP.
I checked each component with anoter computer.
And I searched and searched again the forum. Surprise! I am not alone but nobody has solved the problem so far. Shall I believe that MSI motherboards (with VIA chipsets) are definitely faulty? Nothing can be found in the FAQ or in the knowledge base.
So I am going to buy an old IDE hard drive for I am sure it will work (my previous specs). I will use the S-ATA HDD for storage purpose only and avoid MSI products.

So if the SATA disk is one whole partition, we might have a problem?!
Unfortunately I don't know.  My hard drives are filled so I am unable to find out. What I need to do is get another 250GB SATA, and once I do I will unhook my first one and try installing windows xp without any service packs on the full 250GB and see if it works. The only problem is it will be at least a couple of months until I get the drive.

I know the top speed of SATA data transfer to and fro the disk could be 150 MB/s, and I also know that this seldom or never can be reached, due to hard disk mechanics etc. What is the normal or average transfer speed of a modern SATA disk?
It has been awhile since I benched my drives but I believe they came in at 67MBps when everything was new, now a year and a couple of months later it is to about 48MBps, but I have all my drives almost completely filled. I could be completely off base, but both tests were done using the Nero check (so it knows the fastest drive to cache files in). It is just a matter of me trying to remember them.   (My brain is fried )
    Good Luck

  • Combine 2 computers ea with GPIB-USB-HS connected to different calibrators into one system

I’ve got 2 separate systems: Computer A fitted with a GPIB-USB_HS+ controller and connected to a calibrator A and bench multimeter A, and Computer B fitted with a GPIB-USB_HS+ controller and connected to calibrator B and bench multimeter B. To enable computer A to gain access to calibrator B and bench multimeter B (and visa versa) I want to interconnect the 2 systems with a GPIB cable. Will it work?

Since there can only be one CIC, you just can't connect the cables. Your software on both pc's will have to detect if the other program is running and make the controller on the non-running pc not to be CIC.
Your other option is to remotely control the other pc's instruments with VISA Server if there is a network connection. You would still need some means of checking if a program is running on the other pc.

  • Help! Slow SATA Performance (865PE Neo2-FIS2R + Raptor)

As stated in my subject.. the performance of my WD SATA Raptor seems very under par, especially when compared to my Maxtor ATA133 HD.
The Raptor is connected to the Intel SATA connector. (During boot-up, it's listed as UDMA-5???)
I have 2 DVD drives hooked up to IDE1, and a CD drive hooked up to IDE2
My Maxtor is hooked up to the Promise ATA133 (during boot-up, it's listed as UDMA-6!!).
I'm running Bios 1.5, with the Bios set to:
Native, S-ATA Only, Keep P-ATA Enabled (Yes, Both), and SATA as Raid (No).
Promise Controller is set to As SATA (I found it odd that only settings available are Disabled, SATA, or RAID. Since I'm not running a Raid but I AM using the controller for the Maxtor, I set it to SATA)
I have tried to install the Intel Accelerator but it says uncompatible hardware (I'm assuming because I'm not technically running a RAID setup on the chipset... so it just uses the standard XP Professional driver). I have also installed the latest Intel INF.
Benchmarking my system, I'm using the SiSoftware File System benchmark. I don't understand how the Raptor could do so poorly, especially the buffered Read/Write??
    Here are the results  ;(
    WD SATA Raptor
    Overall Score   25646 kB/s
    Buffered Read  97 MB/s

    Random Write   12 MB/s
    Access Time     5ms
    Maxtor ATA133
    Overall Score   27589 kB/s
    Buffered Read  872 MB/s
    Seq. Read        42 MB/s
    Random Read   8 MB/s

The only reason why I'm using the Promise controller is because (from what I can tell from the MSI manual) only the Promise IDE connector supports ATA133, while the Intel IDE connectors only support ATA100.
Intel IDE 1 (Master, Slave) = DVD RW, DVD
    Intel IDE 2 (Master) = CD-RW
Intel SATA (Boot/OS) = WD Raptor
    Promise IDE 3 (Master/Data files) = Maxtor

  • Agilent 34401A multimeter to PC with Labview driver via RS232

    Hello!
I am trying to measure a voltage with Agilent 34401A multimeter connected to PC via RS232 cable. I installed the driver. When I am starting Read Single Measurement.vi. It gives me an error:
Error-1073807346 occured at Visa Open in Agilent 34401.lvlib: Initialize.vi->Agilent 34401 Read Single Measurement.vi
    Possible reason(s):
Visa: (Hex 0xbFFF000E) The given session or object reference is invalid.
I would like to ask, how can I adjust my system to use RS23 with Agilent 34401A, if it is possible? If not, should I get GPIB card and cable?
    Thank you!
    Yulia.

LabVIEW already comes with a driver for the 34401 pre-installed, so I'm not sure I understand what you installed. The pre-installed driver is in the Instrument I/O >> Instrument Drivers >> Agilent 34401 functions palette.
As for the control that Dennis is referring to, it's the VISA control.
As for the VISA version, you should have received a set of driver CDs along with LabVIEW. That will have the minimum VISA version required. Don't remember off the top of my head which version it is. Probably something like 4.1.

  • GPIB Instrument driver for Keithley 2015 multimeter.

    Hi,
Does anyone have instrument driver for Keithley 2015 multimeter or does
anyone know where can I find it? I didn't find it from NI web pages.
    Thanks,
    -Harri

Did you check Keithley's site Harri? I think I got one from there. They were anxious to know, Keithley that is, which drivers would be worth creating for CVI. Maybe you already have this worked out but otherwise talk to your friendly neighborhood Keithley rep. Hope it helps.

  • HDTach Bench on WD Raptor Drives

I thought I would run the HDTach 2.61 Benchmark on a pair of Western Digital 10,000rpm Raptor Drives to see how fast they were. I used the onboard SATA RAID 0 with a 16k Stripe.
I figure a picture is better than anything I could say so here you go.
    Take Care,
    Richard

The new ones are VelociRaptor and come in the 250-500-1000GB and have larger cache and a number of improvements.
    $100 for 250GB / $155 for 500GB are nice price performance
They are SATA with more of a "scsi flavor" in size, 10K spindle and 180MB/sec
Maybe you want 128GB SSD for the system, or the 250GB, same prices.
    they are reliable and nice.
    WD Black 1TB $89
It is not about how much storage you need really most of the time. Boot drive should be lean mean and unencumbered with other stuff: media libraries and such.
I prefer to keep drives around 50% free.
Discontinued? maybe not. Last or prior model, yes. You can also find WD Black 1TB etc in old 32MB cache variety - sometimes older cost MORE not less.
I use the 150GB 32MB model as system drives and for backup system image alternate for my SSDs, in case I have trouble I can swap or dual boot between either and really can't tell difference other than slight noise - the newer VRs are quieter than those old RAPTOR which was pre-VelociRaptor and those are long gone and 2006-era.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 300/400 (M375nw & M475dn) - Driver packages will not install

    Hello all,
I need some assistance with a very persistent and frustrating issue trying to get driver software packages for our LaserJet M375nw & M475dn to install correctly. We are running Windows 7 Pro x64 on HP 8300 desktop PCs.
We have these printers printing properly via our print server and the proper .inf driver but need the ability to scan to the PC. I would like to install the HP-provided software packages (which include the Scan driver & utility) but am running into the error below.
"A problem occurred while preparing to install software to your system. Please restart your computer, and run this installer again. If the problem persists, please check the product support web site for your product."
I get this error at 80% in the "preparing to install" process. I am using the latest drivers from the website for each of these models (which actually use the same package). I have tried both the Full and Basic driver package with the same results.
We have these printers installed via a static IP on the Network, not USB. I am trying to install as a Local Administrator. UAC is disabled. The PC is fully updated and doesn't have much in the way of custom software. It has SCCM client, MS SQL Native Client, Google Earth, Adobe, Trend Micro AV, OnBase, Office 2007 and Chrome installed.
Here are some of the things I've tried w/o success:
Tried installing with latest drivers from HP website
    Ran all Windows updates
Ran the Scrubber uninstaller provided in the package / Running "uninstall" executable from HP software
Disabled all non-MS startup programs/services in msconfig, disabled Antivirus, rebooted, tried to again
Restarting computer (many, many times between different troubleshooting steps)
Tried disabling "Smart Install" (though I think this only applies to USB connections)
Checked print spooler - it indeed is started/running properly
    Uninstalled all HP-branded software
Can any of you offer some help please? I'm not sure what to try next.
