how do I uncheck the password authtication when setting up email accounts on ipad 2

As best I know all ISP providers operating Mail Servers for their customers REQUIRE "password authentication" in order to access and download your email.  Why wouldn't you want to set it?
    Hope this helps

  • Setting up hotmail account on ipad 2

i need to set up hotmail account on ipad how do i do that?

You actually now have the option to set up Hotmail as an Exchange account (a HUGE plus).  Here are directions:
Microsoft recently announced that it it now allowing users to connect their iPhones, iPads and iPod touches to its free webmail service – Windows Live Hotmail – via Exchange ActiveSync. Before, the only option for Hotmail users wanting to access their email on the go was to set up their accounts via POP3 or login via a web browser. Because the POP3 protocol does not reflect changes to email statuses (whether read, deleted, etc) with the server version, so your emails end up out of sync. Exchange ActiveSync, on the other hand, reflects your changes across all devices. Plus, it means all your new Hotmail messages can be pushed directly to your iPhone or iPad.
Even better, setting it up on your iPhone or iPad is relatively simple (and thankfully, the same process on either device):
Open Settings and select ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’.
Select ‘Add account’, and choose ‘Microsoft Exchange’.
For ‘Email’, enter your Hotmail email address ([email protected], for example).
Leave the ‘Domain’ field blank, but enter your Username (probably [email protected]) and Password (hopefully not yourname1234).
Give the account a description (this will appear in the Email app to identify the account). Select Next.
After that has verified, a new field – ‘Server’ – will appear. Enter m.hotmail.com in this field. Select Next again.
Choose which services you want to sync (Mail, Contacts and Calendars), and you’re done.
You can also set up how many days worth of mail you want to sync across and which folders should push emails to you.
To set up whether you want your email pushed to your phone (it’s an all-or-none decision if you have multiple Push-enabled accounts), go back to ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’, and select ‘Fetch New Data’. Here you can toggle Push on/off or choose to fetch data every 15 minutes, 30 minutes, hourly or manually (the latter will go easiest on your battery).

  • List data validation failed when creating a new list item but does not fail when editing an existing item

    Dear SharePoint Experts,
    Please help.
Why does my simple formula work in Excel but not-work in SharePoint?
    Why does this formula...
    =IF([Request Type]="Review",(IF(ISBLANK([Request Date]),FALSE,TRUE)),TRUE)
...work in Excel but fail when I try to use it in SharePoint?
The intent of this formula is the following...
If the field "Request Type" has the value "Review" and the field "Request Data" is blank then show FALSE, otherwise show TRUE.
SharePoint saves the formula, but when a list item is saved where the formula is implemented, (under List Settings, List Validation), SharePoint does not, say anything other than that the formula failed.
Note that the "list data validation failed" error only happens when I am creating a new item-- the formula above works just fine when one is trying to Save on the edit form.
    Can you help?
    Thanks.
    -- Mark Kamoski

    Dear Jason,
    I appreciate your efforts.
However, it seems to me that this statement of yours is not correct...
"If it meet the validation formula, then you can new or edit the item, otherwise, it will throw the 'list data validation failed' error, it is by design".
I believe this is NOT the answer for the following reasons.
When I create a new item and click Save, the validation error is "list data validation failed".
When I edit an existing item and click Save, the validation error is "my custom error message" and this is, I believe, the way it needs to work each time.
I think, at the core, the error my formula does not handle some condition of null or blank or other default value.
I tried a forumla that casts the date back to a string, and then checked the string for a default value, but that did not work.
I tried looking up the Correlation ID in the ULS when "list data validation failed" occurs, but that gave no useful information because, even though logging was set to Verbose, the stack trace in the error log was truncated and did not given any
    good details.
However, it seems to me that SharePoint 2013 is not well-suited for complex validation rules, because...
SharePoint 2013 list-level validation (NOT column-level validation) allows only 1 input for all the multi-field validation formulas in a given list-- so, if I had more than 1 multi-field validation rule to implement on a given list, it would need to be packed
into that single-line-of-code forumla style, like Excel does. That is not practice to write, debug, or maintain.
SharePoint 2013 list-level validation only allows 1 block of text for all such multi-field validation rules. So that will not work because I would have something like "Validation failed for one or more of the following reasons-- withdrawal cannot exceed
available balance, date-of-birth cannot be after date-of-death,... etc". That will not work for me.
The real and awesome solution would simply be enhancing SP 2013 so that column-level validation forumlas are able to reference other columns.
But, for now, my workaround solution is to use JavaScript and jQuery, hook the onclick handler on the Save button, and that works good. The only problem, is that the jQuery validation rules run before any of the column-level rules created  with OOTB
SP 2013. So, in some cases, there is an extra click for the enduser.
    Thanks,
    Mark Kamoski

  • Security code invalid when setting up new account

So I recently got an iPhone 3G. I was setting up an account and adding a credit card when it stops me saying "please enter a valid security code" for the credit card. I am not blind and I have used my card for online activity for years. I know my security code is entered correct. The iPhone is useless with getting apps unless I enter a credit card and I am being prevented form doing so by powers outside of my control... What that flip am I suppose to do?
And I do have the iPhone with the most up-to-date 3.1 update along with the most current version of iTunes on my PC. I've tried to log into the account on both the PC and the iPhone and BOTH tell me my credit card security number is invalid. I like how a dang application can decide that I am wrong on entering my security code on my credit card.
How do I get around this lame issue?

Well Apple finally got their act together and fixed the problem. Learn from your mistakes Apple!

  • Changing SMTP Server Ports When Setting Up New Accounts

My ISP, COX Communications, blocks port 25 for email accounts not using their SMTP servers. When setting up a mail account how do you change the port? I know how it's done when you have the account set up, but not when you're trying to set up the account.
Note that I can think of a way to 'cheat', but having to 'cheat' doesn't sit well with me. It's a clutzy solution to a problem. Let people change ports during account set up should that prove necessary.

HI, all you can do is let Mail go for however long it needs to after making the Account, (half hour here on both send/receive), before it figures out to continue, so you can get to the Advanced Tab!
Or make the Account in say Eudora & Import it.

  • No matter what I try when setting up an account for game center, I get the response that this account is already in use.  I have tried several times to reset both my Apple ID and a password.

Have been having trouble trying to set up an account with game center.  I have several times reset both my Apple ID and password using both of my email accounts.  Each time I get a message saying that it is "already in use by another game center account", which I am sure is me, but I must have done something wrong in the initial set-up.  Please advise how I can wipe out all info and finally create a valid account to get onto game center!!  Thanks!

Im trying to switch the Apple ID names around, and what i've learnt is that the Apple ID has to be an Email that isn't an Apple ID. Yup, it's messed alright.

  • Interesting note when setting up mail accounts

    Hi everyone
I must say, I've only had the iphone for 2 weeks and love it. I'm a long-time mac user, and finally got rid of my smart phone from work and replaced it with the iphone. It's the killer app, and does more than I ever imagined.
I just thought this info below on setting up email may be of interest to those having issues, as my experience may help.
Everything set up and sync'd great: mail, calendar, songs, etc...no problems, that is until configuring email. I have 3 different accounts 1) private roadrunner account via time warner, 2) work email, and 3) Google
    Google
Worked great, just followed the on-screen set up. Selected Google email, entered my user name and password, and all was AOK...sending and receiving.
    Work Email
Obviously I needed to get the outgoing server configuration to send emails. And I know the iphone and the mail app is not really at fault per se for some issues, as you need to get the right data for it to work...however, making the various attempts to change the settings (trial and error, trying different port settings, etc) seemed to change other settings. For example, when i changed the outgoing setttings in a specific account, then switched out from the setting function to the mail app, i found out latter that my incoming settings were 86'd for that same account. I went to re-enter them, over and over to no avail. Seems like the process for changing the incoming/outgoing settings affect one another.
bottom line, i finally was able to send work email, after completely leaving the outgoing area blank (yes, blank), then under advanced, plugging in 25 for the port. How this works is beyond me, but it's working.
    Roadrunner
First, same issues as above. But I had to search message boards for RR's outgoing server...it ended up being cwmx.com...but again, you have to leave the outgoing user name and password blank, then under advanced you set the port to 25. It works, and i'm not fu%king with it!
Hope your email set up goes better than mine.
    Cheers,
    Stephan

which preference files did you trash? did you trash homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist? if have not set up any accounts then quit mail and try trashing this file. then start Mail and see if you can set up an account. if that does not help, create a new user account, log into it and try setting up Mail there.

  • Mail crashes when setting up new accounts

My boyfriend gave me a MacBook Pro for Xmas and I am now trying to migrate all my data from a PC. Whenever I try setting up mail accounts (both IMAP and POP), Mail crashes once it gets to setting up the outgoing mail server. I have checked with my ISP and the information entered is correct.
I have tried trashing all preference files and repaired permissions, but to no avail.
Also tried setting up the mail accounts with live help from my ISP's support. Still to no avail.
    What do I do?

which preference files did you trash? did you trash homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist? if have not set up any accounts then quit mail and try trashing this file. then start Mail and see if you can set up an account. if that does not help, create a new user account, log into it and try setting up Mail there.

  • Setting up Googlemail account on iPad

I can log into my googlemail account through Safari but I can't seem to set up the googlemaIl account through the iPad so it is linked to the mail icon. When I try to set up I enter the user name and password but it says invalid user name or password. If I go to Safari, I can log in no problem. Does the initial setup through iPad require something different or additional?

I'm very close. When I set up as an Exchange account, I enter the Gmail user name and password and click next. I get "unable to verify certificate. The certificate from .gmail.com for account xxx.gmail.com could not be verified. Click cancel or accept. If I accept, it let's me enter the server as m.google.com and it appears to set up the account but the Mail icon is dimmed light blue on the next screen and disabled to turn on/off. It then prompts for the exchange password but fails to recognize the Gmail password I used.

  • Setting up Cox account on iPad

Being new to Apple products I may not know all of the ins and outs of these things, but I tried to set up the Cox POP email account and it will not verify the account saying it is invalid. I kind of figured it may be the SMTP settings but I can't find where the settings are located. Are there any tricks to doing Apple Mail I should know about? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hi, everyone. I was able to get my email up and running. I am not sure if this will address the problems already discussed, but I will post my solution in case anyone finds it useful.
All I really did was delete the account that was set up at the store and start over. When you create an account from the Other category, you have the option of setting it up as IMAP or POP. When they set up my account at the store, they set it up as IMAP or forgot to select POP - I think IMAP is the default. I was actually wondering why the setting choices seemed a little strange, but I did not know enough about it and it's not an option to switch from one to the other.
Once the new POP account was set up, I just copied the settings for ports and stuff from Outlook on my pc. It now works smoothly. I recommend starting over if you are not able to fix it. I don't know the technical aspects, but it is kind of weird that you have to enter the POP and SMTP settings whether it is IMAP or POP. You can set all of this things correctly, but if you are in IMAP and not POP, you won't get it to work.
    Anyway, hth.
