Value display in Query designer
Hi Gurus,
I have a formula which i need to create .
My requirement is now, i want the value entered in the input variable to be displayed in the report (designed by query designer), but a some changed one .
ex: If the input variable is for cal month .
I enter "01.2009" in the variable screen.
Now the display which i need in the report (in a column or row) is 05 or 5.
Please let me know if this is possible(preferably not using a customer exit).
Thanks and Regards,
Balaji Raj
Hi Balaji,
If you want to use the number for calculation then neither customer exit nor text variablel will help you. For this you will have to create a formula variable.
Create a formula and then in the left bottom pane ("Available Operand"), scroll all the way down and you will see a folder called Formula. Right Click on it and crete a new variable. Go to edit mode and put the description and technical name of hte variable and select "Repalcement Path" and select the char as calmonth.
Go to next tab and make sure you have InfoObject and key selected. Click on "From Value", put offset as 4 and length 2.
Save the variable and include the variable value in the formula.
Now when you enter 200905, your 05 will be in the formula column.
NOTE: make sure your calmonth variable is global to query and not part of any local (selection) restriction.

Restrict the values in the Query Designer
Hi Gurus,
I want to Restrict PLANT or SALES ORG values in the Query Designer, in the Query, PLANT has selected in the rows and having variable and SALES ORG is display attribute of the PLANT. In this scenario How can we Restrict the values?
Thanks in Advance,
Ravi.Hi Ravi,
You cannot restrict values on the display attributes. Better change it to navigational attribute and check the box as navigational in the cube.

Infoobject in infoset but not displaying in query designer
Hi,
I have created a query on infoset(ods1 & ods2).
a custum defined infoobject (fiscyr) is not displaying in query designer while it is present in infoset.
pls give your inputs, for why this infoobject is not available in query designer.
Thanks
RadikaHi Radika,
I cannot think of anything other than the solutions already mentioned in this thread (checking the IOBJ in infoset, running RSISET and activating it). I just had a foolish idea that you might not be looking for the right IOBJ. All the IOBJs from an infoset are not displayed with their original technical names in the query designer. They are disdplayed in the format: <infoset_technical_name>_FXXXXX where XXXXX is a number.
Also try one more thing. Go to transaction RSISET and type in the technical name of the infoset there.
Right below the box where you type the Infoset name is a check button. Check your Infoset there and then activate it from within the RSISET transaction (the activate button is right after the check button). With Infosets, sometimes just activating it from within RSA1 does not work but RSISET always seems to work.
Do this and see if it helps.
Thanks & regards,

Text value is not getting displayed in Query designer !!
Dear experts..,
i have created a new query in query designer using my info provider and then selected one field in default value and then trying to restrict that particular field while selecting the restriction in query designer am getting the exact text value but after generating the report instead of text value , key value is getting displayed....so how can i get text instead of key value??
please help me friends....
i have posted in OSS mesage also...i got a reply like...even i didnt understand his reply too...what he is trying to say?
whether can i get text display or not???
can any one help me in this regard???
SAP Reply----
Hello kumar,
After another analysis I have to inform you about general concept of
"compounded characteristics".
A compounded characteristic bounds two characteristics. The technical
name is generated by both technical names of the two characteristics
combined by two underlines "__".
An individual text is only available for one single combination of both
characteristics.
Example:
=======
Compounded characteristic "Famous family name" is a combination of
characteristic "COUNTRY" & "ETHNIC". Technical name: COUNTRY__ETHNIC
Values for Country: USA, Australia
Values for Ethnic: Asian, Latino
Possible value combinations with individual text:
USA & Asian; text: "Ling"
USA & Latino; text: "Sanchez"
Australia & Asian; text: "Chu"
Australia & Latino; text: "Garcia"
(Keep in mind the individual text only valid for the specific
combination.)
In analogy to the issue that you reported, you want to restrict this
compounded characteristic. In the window where you select the restrictedvalue (called Selector) you'll see on the left hand side all available
combinations of the characters with an individual text.
You select family name "Chu" and drag'n'drop it to the right side.
Actually you can only restrict the right compounded characteristic. In
our example you would restrict on characteristic "ETHNIC" with value
"Asian". (When you switch on technical names this comes more clear). Thetext "Chu" is displayed in the context of Selector because you selected
value combination Australia & Asian. But in the end it's just a
placeholder(!) for any combination of characteristic "ETHNIC" and value
#Asian#; in our example it could be USA & Asian "Ling" or Australia &
Asian "Chu").
By leaving the Selector the individual text is gone because now the
context is lost between the two characteristics. You have just a
restriction on characteristic "ETHNIC" with value "Asian". An individualtext can't be displayed because the compounded characteristic is not
specified for this restriction.
You're right, it is confusing when "loosing" the text of a restriction.
But accoring to the concepts of the compounded characteristics it
is a correct behavior.Hi anandkumar,
I belive this issue can be resolved by changing the Query proprties for the perticular field.
Kindly check the Field proerties in query designer and ensure that Text is enabled ather than Key.
__Field property check up:__Go to query designer->click onn the field-> Right hand side in properties click on display tab-> select Text in drop down menu of Display as tab.
FURTHER CHECK UP: check the master data avaiulability for the perticular info object, if masterdata is not available, do the text data for txt data availability in report level.
Hope this helps you!!

How to display in query Designer in a query the characteristics values of an infoObject in one cell
Hello Community Members,
I have query with 3 characteristics and 2 key figures, and
want to expand the key figures values only with 2 characteristics, and display the different values of the 3. characteristic in the first cell at the corner of the query cell:
C31,C32 C21 C22 C23
C33, C34
C11 KF11 KF21 KF12 KF22 KF13 KF23
C12 KF14 KF24 KF15 KF25 KF16 KF26
C13 KF17 KF27 KF18 KF28 KF18 KF28
C14
How to set the characteristic C3 in query designer, so that their values will all be displayed in the cell in the corner.
many thanks for helping
ArnaudHi Arnaud,
Your query structure is not dependent on your aggregation level (I guess you are referring to the Exception aggregation or just the results and not AL in IP).
Number of columns will depend on the combination of C2 and C3 in this case. So columns will not be 6 but 24.
So I suggest you to create a work book based on two queries. One will just give you the values of C3. Use Macro to take its values and concatenate it and display in a new table along with the data of other query.
This solution is not flexible as workbooks usually have some restrictions on Bex Features. But your requirement is also not simple.

Results based on From and To value in Bex query designer.
Dear all,
We are using BI7.00. In one of our report which pertains to PM user wants to get the details of number of breakdowns which falls in the value range 0 to 1 hours.
I created a condition which has 2 variables, one is From value and the other is for the To value (since user wants to enter both the limits). I have written a condition that if the breakdown hour is greater than or equal to variable1 and less than or equal to variable2.
Using the above condition if the query is run, i am not getting the desired output. The values avaialble in the report are 0.65,0.78,1.30,7.38,0 etc., when i give 0 to 1 i should get the values 0.65,0.78 and 0 but instead report displays "No valid results".
I changed the condition and selected "Between" variable 1 and variable 2 - yet no change in the query.
To my knowledge i foresee that system is not able to recognize the decimal and hence provides details only based on the whole numbers.
How to get my requirement achieved in the Bex query designer.
Experts suggestion with steps will be very useful to solve my problem.

M.M
Edited by: Magesh Magesh on Dec 26, 2008 11:28 AMHi Magesh,
I think you could try one more way.
Create a formula inserting your two formula variables for limits .(FV - are ready for input ) .
The formula would return the result as 1 or 0 because it would have boolean condition in it.
You could then place a condition in the query designer to only show all records where the value of the formula key fig is 1.
You formula A would look like
( KF > FV1) AND (KF < FV2) * 1.
And in the condition put A EQ 1.
You could scale the key figures as well and multiply the limits mentioned by the users in FV1 and FV2 if decimals are still not recognized by SAP.(scaling)

Tabuler display in query designer
HI ,
How can we enables tabular display (we want change the order like CHAR1 KF1 CHAR2 KF2 CHAR3 KF3 ) in query designer in sap bi 7.0 not in analyzer .
can anyone please share information on this ..
Thanks,
EDK...
Edited by: EdK666 on Nov 8, 2010 3:22 PMHi,
The easiest way is to go for workbook. Get the query result in one sheet. Then in another sheet arrange the columns in the required format (by getting values from first sheet) and then hide the first sheet.

Formatting output display of query designer 7.0
Hi,
I have just switched over to Query Designer 7.0 from 3.5. The output of a query shows only 4 columns as against almost a full page of columns in the previous version. Is there a way to increase the default number of columns displayed?
ThanksHi,
do you see less rows in your query or BEx workbook?
Try this:
Open BEx Analyzer and Open BEx Query Designer. Choose in Query designer your querie and press "Exit and use querie" -> The querie is executed in BEx Analyzer with a default workbook. If there are not all rows displayed like in query definition u may have zero suppression for rows activated. This means if there are no values in one row its simply not displayed. -> Disable it in Querie properties tab rows/lines.
2nd way:
Another cause could be that u have to refresh Dataprovider in Analysis grid on BEx Analyzer.
Go to Design mode (press icon with Capital A in BEx Toolbar)-> right click on Analysis grid (table) -> properties-> Change Dataprovider-> click on button"assign query"-> choose your query and save.
Hope it helps

Restrict Characteristic on value range in Query Designer
Hi,
In 3.5, it was possible to restrict a filter in the query designer on a value range, even if the start- and end values of that range did not exist in the master data.
In 2004s, it is possible to restrict single value filters to a non-existing masterdata value. However, for value ranges, this does not seem to be the case. Do you know any workaround for this?
Regards,
Danielof course, BI 7.0 support value range for restrict. Please kindly release more information about your case .
Value Range
Instead of selecting single values you can quickly gather multiple characteristic values using this next option. This choice provides the following additional options:
1. Between
2. Greater than or equal to
3. Less than or equal to
4. Greater than
5. Less than

How to exclude values in the query designer
Hi everybody,
i need your help!
I need to exclude certain information from a report, but as could enter new values in the future, I see it now.
Ex.
CreatedBy contains the following values:
MSanz
PRojas
Soporte
Soporte1
Soporte2
I need to exclude anything value that is Soporte* for first report
and the second report include anything value Soporte*
first report
MSanz
PRojas
Second Report
Soporte
Soporte1
Soporte2
thanks for your help
Manuel
Edited by: Manuel Sandoval on May 30, 2008 6:35 PMHi Manuel,
There are two ways to exclude the fields of Createby.
1. Excude Soporte,Soporte1,Soporte2 in the first report. Select createby -->, right click >Restrict> select Soporte,Soporte1,Soporte2 and pull from left to right > right click(3 fields)> exclude.
Similary for second report exclude MSanz, PRojas.
Or
After restricting include only the necessary fvalues from right to left for creteby field.
Best method is include one, for performance point of you.
Second approach is create two user exit variables. one to include Soporte,Soporte1,Soporte2 (3 values) in the variable and second variable to include MSanz, PRojas. You can maintain these two variables values in the tvarvc table and use these variable in the reports directly. This approach is very very useful if you want to use this variable in many reports ex, 10 or more. Directly you can drag createby and its corresponding variable.
Choose the best approach for your requirement.
Hope it helps.

Thanks

Dump when trying to display characteristic values in QUERY DESIGNER
Hi Experts,
Life seems to become a struggle with 7.0 for me :-(.
My current problem:
If I try to display characteristic values in Query Designer (left section of screnn, wthin dimensions) system dumps frequently.
It's that kind of dump, that doen't help really (to my oponion)_
What happened?
The exception 'CX_RSR_X_MESSAGE' was raised, but it was not caught anywhere
along
the call hierarchy.
Since exceptions represent error situations and this error was not
adequately responded to, the running ABAP program
'CL_RSBOLAP_BICS_SERVICES======CP' has to be
terminated.
How to correct the error
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
keywords:
"UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION" "CX_RSR_X_MESSAGE"
"CL_RSBOLAP_BICS_SERVICES======CP" or "CL_RSBOLAP_BICS_SERVICES======CM003"
"HANDLE_UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION"
... etc.

Thanks for reply. Reinstalling GUI was successful, but - error still occurs. ..

All Dates displayed for "Characteristic Values" in Query Designer
Hello Experts,
We are on BI 7.0, level 13. I am having an issue within the Query Designer with regards to dates. I have a write-optimized DSO that contains 3 date fields (for example, ZDATE1, ZDATE2, and ZDATE3). Each date InfoObject is of type DATS so the system automatically creates it with reference to 0DATE.
When I create a query in the Query Designer, on the left hand side, I expand the "Characteristic Values" node under each date field. The Query Designer shows the same list of values for each of the 3 dates even though they are not valid values posted in the DSO for those fields.
For example, ZDATE1 only has 1 value posted in the DSO (01/01/2005).
ZDATE2 only has 1 value posted in the DSO (01/01/2006).
ZDATE3 only has 1 value posted in the DSO (01/01/2007).
Bute when I expand the "Characteristic Values" node in the Query Designer, I see ALL THREE values under each date field. I would expect to only see the 1 value posted for the InfoObject in the DSO. Also note that each InfoObject is defined to show "Only posted values in InfoProvider".
It appears that Query Designer will show all values for the reference InfoObject 0DATE instead of the ones posted to the actual InfoObject in the DSO. If I delete the data in the DSO, the Characteristic Values list still remains because they exist in 0DATE. Anyone encounter this before? How can I get the Characteristic Values list to only show posted values for that InfObject?
Thanks for your help!
JThanks for the response. I went into the DSO and right clicked on each of the Date fields. I looked at the Provider-specific properties and there is the option for "Query Exec.FilterVal" which only restricts what values appear when restricting during execution, not during query creation.
Is there someplace else I should look or someplace else I can make change to only display posted dates when creating a query? Thanks! -
Values Bifurcation in BEx Query Designer
Dear BI Gurus,
In a column we are getting both positive value and -ve value. We want to bifurcate the values and show only +ve value in one column and show -ve value in another column. Is it possible through Bex query designer?
Please through some light on this issue.
With Regards,
Balachander.SHi bala,
This can be achieved by creating two calculated Key figures, Just use else if condition in the formula and use if KF1=KF>0 then KF else 0, here all the positive values will be displayed similarly use if KF2=KF<0 then KF Else 0 it will display all the negative values. But here all the values will be displayed. Just hide the Key figure and display only calculated keyfigures. Else you can use exceptions to differentiate the positive and negative values.
Hope this helps.....

Hide a row or column for characteristic value # in Query Designer
Hi gurus,
I would if we could hide a result row / column if one of the characteristic value is #. The requirement is actually to remove the meaningless row / column from the whole result set. For example, I have a char Material Group in the column. Since not every Material is assigned to a Material Group, I will get the following layout:
Material_Group A
Material_Group B
Material_Group C
Is it possible to define in query designer so that the column with # will automatically not be displayed?
Thanks,
MengHi Meng,
I guess we have the same users..
But there is one thing that is going to make a non sense on the report: if you do not display the "#" for material group, then the total of your query by material group will not be the summation of what is displayed on the screen...and if the user explort the information in Excel (pretty sure they will do so), you will have some calls that your query does not balance....
Based on that assumption, tell the users to assign a material group to the materials, so that this unassigned column disappears. You could even give them a control report listing all the parts that do not have a material group
If this is a standard business rule not to have a material group for all parts, then, what you could do is to change the text for empty rows for Material group, then the "#" will disappear and wil be under the text description you defined.
But keep in mind that your data is made of materials which do not have a material group in their definition, noraml or not ?
