Variables not correctly sent to Matlab script server

When using a Matlab script node in my LabVIEW code, I've noticed that variables are sometimes improperly sent to the script server. What happens is an m-by-n matrix in LabVIEW arrives in Matlab as a 0-by-n or 0-by-0 empty matrix. Typically the affected matrices are large -- 500 to 20,000 elements.
Unfortunately, we haven't been able to recreate the error intentionally. On the other hand, when the error does occur by chance, it frequently continues to show up until the system is rebooted.
This error has appeared using the same code on multiple systems, all of which are running Matlab 6.1 and LabVIEW 6.0.2.
If anyone has encountered similar problems or has any insight into this problem, your help would be
greatly appreciated.

I encountered this problem several times too.
I passed a 'real vector' of size ~80 to a MatLAB input node, and it turned out to be a 0-by-0 empty matrix in MatLAB. This happens nearly every time after I reboot the computer.
What I do is first to find out which variable is empty (from the MatLAB command window). Then stop the VI and rewire that input node.
p.s. I have LabVIEW 6.0.2 with MatLAB 6.0.

Invitations not being sent out on Calendar Server 6.3

Issue:
To our customers the calendars server appears to be fully operational and without error. However, when a customer creates a new event and invites other people to attend, no invites are sent out. The event creator, however, believes all is in order as no error messages appear and the list of invitees appears on the event. This was working recently. We have looked for things which have changed (e.g. disk space, size of files, corruption, recent patching, licenses expiring, etc) but have not yet found anything that has changed.

What we've done:
We have run db_verify and csdb -v check on the databases. ics50deletelog.db did have corruption, so we fixed that by using db_dump and db_load to export then import the databases.
We also purged the ics50deletelog.db database using cspurge afterwards when the dump and load didn't seem to have had an effect.
We tried putting the log level up in the /opt/SUNWics5/cal/config/ics.conf , but didn't get any more details when restarting the service (through /etc/init.d/sunwics5 restart)
Before we did the db_dump, db_load and purge:

Sounds like we talking about 'Event Invitations Notifications'. These are the notifications that gets sent when some one invite you to an event. Whether you receive the notification or not depends on your preference that is stored in ldap. This can be set using the Convergence by navigating through Options-> Calendar -> Notifcations (Check "Notify me via email of new invitations or invitation changes"). The actual ldap attributes that gets stored in user's entry is below.

In the following cases, the user (attendee) will not get notifications even if the above preference is set.
a> Creating an event with attendees in the past. CS6, by default, suppresses notifications for past events. You can enable notifications for past events by setting the config "ine.pastnotification.enable" to "yes" in ics.conf
b> If the client creating the event requests server not to send notifications. (smtpNotify wcap param for storeevents.wcap). Outlook Connector uses this wcap param, so you won't get server notifications for the events invited using Outlook Connector. Outlook Connector sends it's own notifications directly.
I think, you are looking for these kind of notifications. The process responsible for sending these notifications is "csadmind" on the Frontend. So, you need to check admin.log on the Frontend to see if it is sending notifications or not.

I changed my e-mail address a few months ago everything was ok. Starting monday my outgoing mail can not be sent, it says the server rejected my e-mail address. Why ? I can receive mail but not send it

My outgoing mail gets rejected. I can get mail but not send it.It was working for about 6 months.

If the smtp is rejecting your password you should go in.
Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts
Select your Yahoo account in the sidebar on the left.
In account information tab you will see : " Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) "
Click on it and choose edit SMTP server list.
Select Yahoo and click on the advanced tab.
Now fill your new Yahoo password.

Error produced when trying to pass variables to a Matlab script

For some reason, LabVIEW produces an Error 1047 (Unable to pass variable to the script server) whenever I create an input variable to a Matlab code block.
Outputs work fine (for example, connecting an output "a" to a Matlab code block that says "a=rand(50)" correctly produces a 50x50 array of random numbers that can be displayed in LabVIEW). However, creating any kind of input node, whether or not the associated variable is mentioned in the MATLAB script, brings up an error 1047.
Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm using LabVIEW 7.0 and MATLAB 7 (R14). I've read the article
>here and that's not the problem, and I've also updated my matscript.dll to the latest version, 7.0.0.2, which also made no difference.

For what its worth,
I work in a company with a lot of Matlab users, and I,m programming in Labview and Matlab.
When I create a testrig measurement I always have to convert data into Malab format, so I used the script server a lot... exept we have a limited pool of Matlab
licenses so my work was halted whenever the licences where gone.
So I wrote a Write2Matlab vi.
This vi can log data from a measurement and write it in a Matlab readable file format (Matlab6 R12).
After logging you can append more data. It works with(Double,Single,Int32,Int16,U16,U8,String) matrix see for yourself in an example (Write2matlab_test.vi).
Perhaps this is an alternative solution for your problem.

How to load a variable using MATLAB Script?

I need to load a selected variable from .mat file, using MATLAB script , and analyse it.
the attched shows my vi, there are two inputs nodes 'file' contains the .mat file path, and 'varn' contains varibale name in that .mat file which can be selected by user. Using " load(file)" the whole .mat file is loaded in the workspace and become avaiable at output node, however I am not able to pass a selected variable name through string "varn" input, MATLAB script does not recognize the variable.
any idea to reslove it is realy appreciated.

Download the VI and .MAT file. Run the VI, and it'll plot the data inside of the .MAT file.

Trying to update software on my 4.3.3 itouch but getting message that server not available or settings not correct?

I am 9. Trying to update software on my I touch 4.3.3 and getting message in I tunes saying server not coinnected, but it is and then that settings not correct? Help please.

Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem

Error 1048 Matlab Script depends on string length

Using: Labview 8.2, Matlab 2007a, Windows XP (AMD X2 4200+ 3GB RAM).
I'm having an issue with MATLAB script server, Error 1048 failed to get variable from script server. I've read the forums, but most posts are years old and don't address variable size issues. I have no problem with these strings inside the MATLAB command window. I'm somewhat inexperienced with LabView, so maybe this VI could have been simplified.
I'm writing data files with a tab header, using MATLAB to perform some operations on data (I have a library written to do certain things and can't really spend the time to recode in Labview). When I try to pass out the new header string, I get error 1048 only when the string length goes above a certain size range. I have iterations because I want to process hundreds of files in a similar fashion to this VI.
Header length ~ 1300 chars has always been fine, regardless of number of iterations within the VI.
Header length ~ 2600 chars presents some errors; not deterministic.
Header length ~ 5200 chars has many errors; not deterministic.
Header length ~ 7800 chars has many errors, fails almost all the time.
Also, timing delay after reading in the file seemed to do nothing to help. Pausing at the end of the MATLAB script did not seem to help. Clearing MATLAB/restarting LabView did not seem to help. Is there a way to catch variable-specific errors from the script window? Notice that the output variable is not cleared when it fails to be obtained from the MATLAB window. I could wrap the whole thing in a while loop until there are no errors, but that doesn't help when the length is so large none of them succeed.   I can split the string inside matlab, but I'd have to create n strings and then concatenate them outside, which still gives me a lack of scalability. Is there any better way to handle this kind of non-deterministic error?

Does NI monitor these forums for bug reports to fix? Here's a non-scalable hack solution I mentioned earlier, creating n string outputs and concatenating them in Labview. I've checked this in Matlab using the code below. I've included the VI if anyone has the same issue and wants it.
Note that I chose to throw the size error if the string is too large for the n you choose. I prefer this to trying to check the string output to see if it was truncated.

French characters are not correctly stored in database with SQLPlus

Hello everyone,
I would like to do the following:
Run an SQL script that inserts/deletes/updates data. The data itself may be
French or non-English characters .Currently, we do this
by just running a script that invokes SQLPlus and runs the various SQL
scripts. However, non-English characters are not correctly stored in the
database (server character set is currently set to AL32UTF8).
Is there a way to get this to work in SQLPlus?
I have tried saving the files in UTF8 or unicode but SQLPlus cannot identify
the formatting of the file and spits out an error.
Any hints would be appreciated.

If the CharacterSet on server is Unicode, normally, there is no problem IF the client is using a characterset with é or à ! ;-)
you should set NLS_LANG on client side...

Matlab script in LV6.1 built app fails after upgrade to Matlab 7 (R14).

The LV6.1 built app, running under LV6.1 runtime, successfully invokes Matlab script server, R13. After Matlab upgrade to R14, the script server fails to activate. Use of the newest matscript.dll download is not a satisfactory solution, since it fails on systems still running Matlab R13. Is there a universal fix for this problem? I have already checked the related postings.

This fix has been released just recently and announced in several

Matlab Script in LV 8.0 for 'SIM Command'

Dear all
I have problem using Matlab Script in LabVIEW 8.0 for 'SIM(Model, Final Time)' command.
1. Does Matlab Script Server supports all the functions in Matlab 7.0.1? I runned 'SIM(Model, Final Time)' on the LabVIEW Script, but no results obtained. It is supposed to get a figure output there.
2. If I run some function in Matlab Script with input parameters. Do I have to set these parameters in Matlab Script of LabVIEW as 'Input' or I can set them in Matlab Workspace first then apply them directly. Since some of my parameters are classified as structure class. They won't allow me to use them in Script as 'Input'.

I believe that you are using the MathScript node, but I am a little uncertain:
If you are using Mathscript, you do not need to do anything
with any ‘server’, but the particular function you request may not be
implemented. Which type of node are you
using? If you are using Mathscript, and
the function is not implemented, feel free to request it – we are happy to
consider implementing it for a future version of LabVIEW. If you are using the MATLAB Script Node, I
suspect the problem is with the way the node is setup, or with the ActiveX
server.

Compiling VIs with Matlab scripts

Hi everyone,
I need to build application for a VI with some matlab scripts included in the block diagrams using the Matlab scripts node. I've been searching for related topics and I'm hoping someone can help me understanding the big picture here.
Background info: I'm using LV2012, Matlab 2013. I DON'T USE MathScript RT Module.
Question:
1. To build a stand-alone application for the use on a PC with Matlab software but no LabVIEW, do I just simply build the application in LabVIEW project?
2. To build a stand-alone application for the use on a PC wthout Matlab and LabVIEW, do I need to create a DLL from Matlab and modify my VI to use "Call library function node" and then build the application in LabVIEW project?

Yes, Assuming it is a windows machine and the Licensed version of Matlab is version 6.5 or later the LabVIEW Run-Time engine knows how to call the Matlab script server through Active X.
2. To build a stand-alone application for the use on a PC wthout Matlab and LabVIEW, do I need to create a DLL from Matlab and modify my VI to use "Call library function node" and then build the application in LabVIEW project?
You cannot use a Matlab math script node without a licensed version of Matlab 6.5 or later resident on the target and the target must support Active X so, Windows only.

The e-mail message could not be sent. Make sure the outgoing e-mail settings for the server are configured correctly

I have a 2 server SharePoint farm.
All outgoing emails were working fine.
I just restarted both servers and now after that none of the emails are being sent. I am using OOB publishing workflow and it shows message:
The e-mail message could not be sent. Make sure the outgoing e-mail settings for the server are configured correctly.
Even if I setup Alert on some list, it doesn't send email.
I have checked that outgoing email setting in CA is defined and like I said it was working fine without problems but after restart it is showing error.
What could be the cause of this and how to fix it?
EDIT
I removed outgoing mail server in CA, added again and restart IIS but still emails from OOB workflow is not being sent. But email from Alerts are being sent. Don't know what to do now.

This is really weird, It works when an alert is set but workflows doesn't send emails... Can you create a simple 1 Step workflow in SPD to send an email when a specific field is set. See if this sends an email..

I created a test workflow which sends email to user and it is also not sending email. But I am getting email from SharePoint regarding "variation" page changes as well as alerts which I told above.

Matlab syntax errors are not caught and reported when code is executed in a LabVIEW Matlab script node

I want to be able to catch errors that occur during the execution of Matlab code in a LabVIEW Matlab script node. According to my understanding of the documentation, errors of this type should be available at the "error out" signal point on the Matlab script node. I have noticed that even deliberately generating matlab syntax errors will not produce an error output. See the attached vi for an example.

I ran your example VI and the is what I got in the Error Out cluster:
"Code 1050
Error occured while executing script. Error message from server: ??? This is an error

If you are generating custom error messages in Matlab I would suggest passing them back to LabVIEW through output variables in the script node.

Getting error when passing variable to Matlab script

I am using LabVIEW 2013 Version 13.0f2 (32bit) and MATLAB R2014b (Version: 8.4.0.150421) in Windows 7 Professional Version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1).
I am trying to pass measured data to a matlab script to plot but I get errors.
I have made a small program to make the problem easyer to solve and I get this error
Error 1050 occurred at LabVIEW: Error occurred while executing script. Error message from server: ??? Reference to a cleared variable A.

I tried the solution mentioned in http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/4475BC3CEB062C9586256D750058F14B though it was intended for an older version. This gave me this error instead

The problem occures when I try to access the input, in other words I can have inputs to my script as long as I do not use them.
How can I solve this?

I shold of cours have realised that that was what happened but I always use the three clearing lines (close all, clear all, clc) in the beginning of a script to make sure that no old and irrelevant data corrupts my script and did not think about when the inputs were generated.
