Hi, I need to know how I can view and print the contents of a table Numbers for Mac as separate forms for each record. In Excel I remember it was not very complicated but here
Hi Pubide,
Numbers does not have Page Breaks or Print Area or Print Selection. It will print whole sheets (tabs).
Arrange your document so that a record is on its own sheet.
You can create a summary sheet that pulls a record from the main sheet.
Please post a screen shot to show what you are trying to do.

  • Table numbering confusion and how to link to tables in a book/document?

    More questions :-(
    Table numbering confusion...
I'm porting over (from MS Word) a document that has a bunch of tables in it.
The document currently looks something like this:
    1 Major heading
    1.1 Sub heading
text for that sub heading that refers to a table that follows (or may preceed) such as see Table 1-1 that follows
    Table 1-1
Row 1/Column 1 content   Column 2 content   Column 3 content
Row 2/Column 1 content   etc....            etc.
    Row 3                    etc.               etc.
    1.2 Next sub heading
Text to follow that sub head that references Table 1-2 below...
    Table 1-2
Row 1/Column 1 content   Column 2 content   Column 3 content
Row 2/Column 1 content   etc....            etc.
    Row 3                    etc.               etc.
    2 Major heading
    2.1 Next sub heading
Text to follow that sub head that references Table 2-1 below...
    Table 2-1
Row 1/Column 1 content   Column 2 content   Column 3 content
Row 2/Column 1 content   etc....            etc.
    Row 3                    etc.               etc.
    3 Major heading
    3.1 Next sub heading
    etc.
    Hopefully that makes sense.
Currently it seems that the tables are numbered based on the chapter number with the chapter apparently being set at 2.
I need the tables to instead use numbering based on the heading (Titles) numbers, but can't seem to figure out how to get the numbers set for the tables as I would want them to be.
What do I need to do to make the table numbers reset based on the paragraph numbers (subchapters if you would refer to them that way...)
    Thanks again!

What is the paragraph format of "Table 2-1" lines?
Table numbering is commonly controlled by two things:
    1. Format > Paragraph > Paragraph Designer
    [table title para name]
    [ Numbering]
    and
    2. Format > Document > Numbering
The default in Frame is that tables have titles of para fmt "TableTitle", but tables can switch that off, and also be anchored to paragraphs (often Headings) of any arbitrary format name and numbering scheme.

  • Conditional text and table numbers

I have a source doc from which I am going to generate two user guides (I am new at this). I have two conditional tags set, which I plan to show/hide as required to generate the final PDFs.
First snag: I have a products specification table, which is different for each guide. Using auto numbers, I have created the first table (1-1).
Then I add the second table (prod specs for the other product). It of course shows up as table 1-2 (and all sequential tables will be misnumbered). Using the Show/Hide command, I see the correct table.
How do I get correct sequential table numbers for each end document?
    Thanks very much.

    >  ... FrameMaker help refers to these as "series labels."
Thanks for the further clarification, Mike.
Just poking around on this, it's unclear exactly how many different series labels one can have. Some sources say we're limited to 53:
    default(no letter), A: to Z:, a: to z:
    Some sources say it's 63:
    default(no letter), A: to Z:, a: to z:, 0: to 9:
    which also seems to work.
Curiously enough some other single characters appear to work as well. I just tried @:, #:, non-breaking hyphen (\x15) and generic currency symbol (\xdb) for example (this is in FM7.1, entered as \x hex codes). I suspect most basic Frame roman single "standard" characters might work, which would imply a possible 255 or so counters. Two-letter labels just get treated as literal text, as would any multi-byte Unicode I suspect.
Adobe has no published "best practices" for series labels, but if one searches around the web, a common theme develops on conventions. Any shop would be well advised to pick a convention, and (note to self) write it down, for example:
    B: body (ordinary paragraphs)
    C: call-outs
    F: figures
H: headings (volume, chapter, section, etc.)
    O: outline
    S: steps
    T: tables

  • Table numbering is skewed after 'delete' instance

I have a table that automatically numbers each added row of data. Unfortunately, if a row is deleted, the numbering is skewed.
Here is the script I use:  form1.MinutesTable.Row1.Index::initialize - (JavaScript, client)
    this.rawValue = this.parent.index + 1
If anyone knows why this is happening and what I can do to prevent it, I would appreciate the help.

Paginators are manullay using tab stops and adjusting the "Align to Decimal Tab"
But I want to do it in javascript
    Help me...

    Hi, Maheshwara:
Your question's a bit confusing, because your example does not show any decimal points! Perhaps it would be good for you to show a screenshot from InDesign with Hidden Characters enabled and the Tab ruler visible so we can see what is going on.
What do you want to do, though? My guess is you want to right-align the text, then go through and find the entry with the most characters to the right of a decimal point and set a decimal tab based on that entry, and apply it to the entire column. Sounds pretty easy!
Are you stuck? What's the problem? How far have you gotten? Do you know Javascript?

  • Copying data between tables - numbers on an ipad

I have two [main] lists (tables):
Workers names, photos, arrival times, training record and other data on one table (the 'Workers List') with one worker's data on each line.
The other table (really a set of 3)  of three 'shift sheets', Red, Green and Neutral listing who is on-duty at any given time.
What I'm trying to do - on an iPad - is allocate each worker to a R,G or N shift by making an entry on their row in the Workers List, and have their name and photo (cells from columns B and C in the Workers List) copied automatically to the next available empty row in the relevant one-of-three shift sheets.
As I see it there are two main problems: the 'cut and paste' aspect which I can just abut get a handle on, and the selection of the next empty row in the coreect (1 of 3) sheet - which has me baffled.
    I'd really appreciate any thoughts.
    Nick
(if anyone's even remotely interested, this is for organising the staff at the Incredibly-Famous Cider Bus at Glastonbury Festival!! - a free jar for the problem solver!)

ok, my solution gets a little complicated and I dont know if it would work for the pictures at all.
I would have three columns Marked as R, G or B. These would eb equations that look at your column that has R, G or B entered. These increment by one if the letter for that column is found on that row.
Then in my "color" tables, I have an equation that uses an offset and a match to locate the next row for that color.
Heres a table for an example(with formula results):
    1
    a
    R
    1
    b
    G
    2
    c
    R
    3
    d
    R
    3
    e
    G
Column A increments every time R appears in C
then in the Color R table we use this in cell A1 to pull back the data in the first rows column B that has an R (row 1 in this case)
    =offset(table1::$B$1,match(row(),table1::$a,0)-1,0,1,1)
this looks for the number 1 in column A, returns what row that was found on, offset from B1 that number minus 1. grab a range 1x1, ie. one cell.
Just modify this to pull back as many different columns you need. It will show #N/A when you hit the last row for R, just delete those and remove the extra rows from displaying in your table. exapnd when you add more.
Repeat this with an additional column for G and B, and modify the equation for referencing thier counter columns. the first row in your G table will pull back the information from row 2 in my table above.
Let me know here if this makes sense. its the only way I could find of doing something similar in XL at work.
    Thanks
    Jason

  • Table/figure numbering

    Hello all,
I'm in the process of updating a document that we publish annually at my workplace using CS4.  I have figured out how to use paragraph styles so that tables and figures update themselves automatically, and also how to create a crossreference within the text that does the same.  However, I am stuck on a few points:
Our figure numbering can go: Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3-1, Figure 3-2, Figure 4, etc.  Or Table 1, Table 2a, Table 2b, Table 3...  Is there a conditional that can be inserted?  Can I create a style so that it does # - # when necessary, and just the number alone when appropriate?  I have a feeling that I have to pick one format or the other...
Our figure numbering starts at Figure 1, and after about 10 figures, the tables start at Table 1.  I cannot figure out how to get the figures and tables to number themselves separately.  My only choices were to have all tables labeled '1', or start where the figures left off (so the first one is labeled '11').  In addition, tables that span multiple pages have different table numbers (probably because they were created as separate tables, so I have to figure out how to join them).
    Thank you for any help.

  • Table and figure numbering in multi-chapter book

Using InDesign CC 2014 I am editing a book that consists of 23 chapters. Each chapters are added to the book separately. There are 5 levels of titles, level 1-4 is numbered (first level is the chapter title), the 5th is not.The numbering of the titles in chapters works very well, but I have problem with numbering of figures and tables.
The numbering of tables and figures should look like this: Table 1.1., 1.2., etc, Figure 1.1., 1.2., etc. The first number is always the chapter number, the second is the number of table/figure in order - within the chapter. I want the second number to re-start in each chapter. But if I select "continue from the previous number" (or something like this - I have Hungarian version, tried to translate to English), the numbering does not re-start with each new chapter, however gets the correct ^H number. If I select "start", all tables and figures will be ^H.1.
My question is: what should I do on one hand to be able to use (and sync) all formats (including tables' and figures' captions with numbers) in the whole book, in the same time making the figures' and tables' numbering having ^H followed by a number re-starts in each chapter? For this, the table and figure number should be which level on the list? What to do with "restart numbering at this level after" option?
I have searched the www from A to Z and back but could not find the answer. Please, help me! Oh, and please, write the how-to description step-by-step (maybe illustrated?), as I use Hungarian version, which makes applying the suggestions a bit difficult. Thank you, in advance, for your kind help!

  • How to get missing records from one table

I have one table with many records in the table. Each time a record is entered the date the record was entered is also saved in the table.
I need a query that will find all the missing records in the table.
so if I have in my table:
    ID          Date          Location
    1           4/1/2015        bld1
    2           4/2/2015        bld1
    3           4/4/2015        bld1
I want to run a query like
Select Date, Location FROM [table] WHERE (Date Between '4/1/2015' and '4/4/2015') and (Location = bld1)
    WHERE Date not in
    (Select Date, Location FROM [table])
    and the results would be:
    4/3/2015   bld1
    Thank you

Do you have a table with all possible dates in it?  You can do a left join from that to your above mentioned table where the right side of the join is null.  If you don't have a table with all possible dates you could user a numbers table.
Below is one way to achieve what you want with a numbers table...
DECLARE @Table table (ID Int, DateField Date, Location VarChar(4))
    DECLARE @RunDate datetime
    SET @RunDate=GETDATE()
    IF OBJECT_ID('dbo.Numbers') IS NOT NULL
    DROP TABLE NUMBERS
SELECT TOP 10000 IDENTITY(int,1,1) AS Number
       into Numbers
        FROM sys.objects s1
        CROSS JOIN sys.objects s2
ALTER TABLE Numbers ADD CONSTRAINT PK_Numbers PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED (Number)
INSERT INTO @Table (ID, DateField, Location)
    VALUES ('1','20150401','bld1')
    ,('1','20150402','bld1')
    ,('1','20150404','bld1');
    WITH AllDates
    as
    SELECT DATEADD(dd,N.Number,D.StartDate) as Dates
    FROM Numbers N
cross apply (SELECT CAST('20150101' as Date) as StartDate) as D
    select *
    from AllDates AD
    left join @Table T on AD.Dates = T.DateField
    where ad.Dates between '20150401' and '20150404'
    AND T.ID IS NULL

  • Setting up Figure and Table Titles for Translation Import and Export?

    Hi,
I use InDesign to write User Manuals. Once the manual complete, I use SDL World Server to translate the document which works wonderful. The way it works is the document is parsed by the xml data and when you export the document from SDL, the translated data replaces the English data, it’s pretty slick! The problem that I have is that my Figure and Table numbers are hard coded with the word "Figure" and "Table” as part of the numbering system and will not translate nor export (see screenshot below). Is there A.) A way I can make the code become a reference to a text box in the document that then can be translated? B.) A common or different way to handle this?
If you need any more info, just let me know. Thank you for your help!

I've always avoided that auto-figure-naming stuff, in any application, for the sole reason that it often doesn't localize well. I'm not a WorldServer user, but a SDL Trados Studio user, so I don't know exactly what to tell you. If you're the kind of person to pop your IDML open in a text editor, you'll find that the actual "Figure" text appears in Styles.xml, and I doubt that SDL's IDML filters look there for text for translation. I don't actually know for sure, and I do know you're using an SDL product with which I have no familiarity whatsoever.
A different, somewhat kludgy way to handle this would be to use auto-numbering to create an invisible paragraph number (color of Paper, size of 0.1 pts, glyph width of 1%, or something along those lines), and then have the phrase "Figure" in your live text, followed by a cross-reference to the paragraph number.
A common way to handle this would be to ask SDL to update their IDML filter to pick up terms used in auto-numbered lists.

  • Trouble pasting table into Pages.

I have been unable to copy a table from Numbers and paste it into a Pages document.  The data gets pasted, but not the formatting and it is also not placed in a table.  I am using Pages '09  and Numbers '08.
What appears to happen is teh text or cell data from teh table is pasted in teh Pages document, and seperated by a series of tabs rthare than being placed in a table.

Numbers '08 was designed to be used with Pages '08, not with Pages '09 which was created 18 months later.
As Fruhulda wrote, pasting a table from Numbers '08 in Pages '08 or pasting a table from Numbers '09 in Pages '09 behave well (as long as the size limits are respected).
Pages '09 was not designed as a single app but as a component of a package including Numbers '09 and Keynote '09. Compatibility with the '08 versions wasn’t an item in the design workflow. They were distributed as separate apps only at least 18 months later.

  • Numbers '09 stalls, slows down, shows incorrect formulas in Formula List

I developed a relatively simple spreadsheet for help in calculating federal and state estimated income payments and the totals that will be due for the year. I enter data thru the year as it becomes known.
It has a main table that shows information totals from 6 other auxiliary tables where I track interest income and payments, income calculations, withholding, payments made, state and local taxes, etc. Obviously, every data entry I make on these auxiliary tables updates the main table.
The main table includes a number of rows/cells that sum other rows/cells, or reference the auxiliary tables, or calculate taxes due based on the taxable income to date.
It has worked fine until today, when suddenly one table began to slow down, taking as long as five to ten seconds to update cells or navigate, and now the main table does the same. The other tables act normally.
I have been over and over the formulas trying see if they are correct (a slow process, as selecting a cell can take 10 seconds). I note that when I use the Formula List to analyze the problem auxiliary table, some of the formulas are different from what the cell says when I highlight it. For example, the E4 cell says "C4-D4", which is what I want, and the formula list says "C4-B4".
I guess I could dump this table and start over fresh with a blank table but for future reference I would really like to know where I went wrong. Can't find anything in the Help function but maybe I am looking in the wrong places. Can one of you experts kindly help me out of my misery?

    Venetian Seeker wrote:
    Excel didn't work like this.
    VS,
Yes, Excel works like this too, if you sort the entire table. You may not have recognized it, but it does. If you sort only one column, something you can do in Excel but not in Numbers, you may not get an error, but you have certainly done some serious mashing of your data.
Whenever you sort, or otherwise move things around in a table, Numbers and Excel track the movements and adjust the formulas. This is normally what you would want.
In the rare case when you want to reference a particular cell, regardless if that cell's content is relocated, you should use an addressing method that resists the effects of sorting and moving. That would normally involve the INDIRECT and ADDRESS functions. A running balance calculation is one of those rare cases.
    Using your example "D24 =D23+(B24-C24) i.e previous balance(cell D23) +cash in (B24)-cash out(C24) on date A24", we can instead write the following:
    D24 =INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW()-1, COLUMN())) +B-C
You can use this same formula in your entire column D.

  • Figure and Table number out of sequence between chapters

I inherited a lengthy Service Manual consisting of 6 separate files (chapters) that are intended to be consolidated into a book when complete. Page numbering, Figure numbering and Table numbering is supposed to be sequential, but I find when I delete a figure in one chapter, the next figure number in the subsequent chapter is out of order.  I'm new to FrameMaker 10 and can't seem to correct this.
    Please help!
    Margie

I've checked the paragraph tags in each chapter, they appear identical:
    C:\tTable\<><><><n+>\t
What happened is, the preceding chapter became shorter and I noticed the next chapter page numbers started incorrectly. I went to Format, Numbering, and changed the starting number to the correct one.  That's when the Table and figure numbers started renumbering from 1.
I'm thinking it might be better to compile as a book, but I'm getting the "unvailable fonts" message. I've checked every font and they seem to be OK, but there's 150 pages and a zillion tags.  Is there any way to make a global deletion ofo fonts?  I can see the problem fonts screened back iin the font list.
