Verifying datasources

Hi, everyone.
I didn't write anything for a while. I have an interesting
situation here and not sure what causes it and what exactly is the
problem.
I have a datasource setup with
JDBC URL:
jdbc:macromedia:oracle://xxxxxx:1659;ServiceName=xxxxxx;instancename=orac1
Driver class: macromedia.jdbc.MacromediaDriver
When I'm trying to verify it, it gives me the following error
message:
"Connection verification failed for data source:
advice_user_jdbc_macr
[]java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][Oracle JDBC Driver]null
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException:
[Macromedia][Oracle JDBC Driver]null"
From what I read online, it seems that my jdbc drivers are
out of date. So, I got the latest drivers from Macromedia (Adobe),
and the same problem persists. When I'm trying to access a
coldfusion page which has a db call, I get the following error
message: "[Macromedia][Oracle JDBC Driver]null".
What's interesting in this situation is that sometimes I'm
able to verify my datasource and the website works without any
problems, and then all of a sudden I'm getting the same error
message.
Any suggestions or options what might be causing it and how
to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Dmitriy

any response please?

    What does this mean?...
    Here's what I tried so far to resolve this:
    1. enabled tcp/ip in sql config manager, verfied that it's
    using port 1433 in IPALL
    2. telnet 127.0.0.1 1433 - that works ok
    3. dowloaded SQLCritUpdPkg_ENU.exe and installed it - I read
    on a fourm somewhere that this disabled some ports due to a worm..
    but i dont think that was the problem anyway since i ping'd 1433
    and it was ok

    PS: I've also gotten this same error when I had CFMX 7

    Interesting.  I was extremely clear.  Short & concise w/ minimal irritation as compared to how I feel.
    My subject tells what's going on.  The commentary states how I got there. Pretty straight forward.

  • Verifying DSN reports Datasource not found?

    Hello, thanks for looking..
    I have two datasources configured on a production web server (Win IIS, CF8), one that connects to a remote database and the other connects to a local database. A web application I was in the process of migrating to a new server used the datasource that connected to the remote database as I was taking one step at a time. Yesterday became the day to make the final jump and to migrate the database, so after comparing the two databases (SQL Delta is a beautiful tool), I proceded to swap the datasources by renaming them in the ColdFusion Administrator. I renamed the datasource to the remote database to some arbitrary backup name, then renamed the datasource to the local database to the original name of the the datasource to the remote database.
    JDBC, ODBC, whatever, I have probably performed these same steps hundreds of times without an issue. Yesterday, after renaming the datasource, verifying it, confirming it was working by browsing the application and seeing the noticable performance increase from accessing a local database, I was content to call to process complete.
    At 3am server time however, the application began throwing errors, saying the datasource could not be found. I jumped into CF Admin to check everything out and found things just as I left them, two datasources, one named as a backup and the other the original name to the local database. When I clicked verify all however, the datasource to the local database failed, saying "Datasource could not be found".
    I am curious as to what may have happened here. I don't see any cause for alarm with regards to technique as I have been using it for so long. ColdFusion server.log shows no sign of a restart. Does anyone have any clue what could have happened here? How could a datasource appear in CF Admin, yet verifying it says it doesn't exist? I resolved the problem by renaming it to something else, then renaming it back but I plan on deleting and recreating it completely this evening when traffic is lower. My only guess here is that ColdFusion updated active memory but failed when updating the registry, then something happened where things were refreshed.. But why.. and how can that be detected/avoided if true?
    I have a lot of people asking me questions now, and after spending great amount of time convincing them ColdFusion is the best answer for their needs the first time around, I am having trouble doing so this second time. So thank you in advance for any help or insight..
    Mike

    I am okay with that, and a 1 in 200ish failure rate, especially now that I have an automated script verifying datasources regularly. My clients are not however, especially without understanding the cause. Thanks for the reply though.
    Well, if that client was mine, I'd be saying something along these lines:
    "I've investigated this as much as practical, and asked around the CF community, and no-one has heard of this happening.  Given it's an isolated occurrence, I'm prepared to put this down to a temporary aberration, which is now resolved.  "Case closed", although obviously we'll "watch this space" too.  All computer software is very complex, and there will always be glitches.  I can investigate this to conclusion if you like, but it's difficult to troubleshoot something after havnig fixed it, especially when it's not replicable.  I am satisfied this is not something to be concerned about, however if you really want me to get to the bottom of it, it's likely to take a week (billable, as it's not a good use of my time), and at the end of it, you're not going to be any better off.  If it's such a concern - and fair enough - that there's a single point of failure here, then let's start talking about some fail-over protection.  That way if any other aberrations present themselves, it will not be an issue".
    However, in the mean time, have a look at your JRun and CF logs at round about the time the problem happened, and see if there's anything in there to do with JDBC and the like.

  • Can't connect to MySQL Community Server 5.6 from CF11

    I'm trying to connect to MySQL Community Server version 5.6 from Cold Fusion 11. If I choose the DataDirect driver, I get an error message stating that the driver does not support Community Server. So I choose the MySQL5 driver and I am able to verify the connection from the CF Admin page. However, whenever I try to run any queries using the verified datasource, I get a "500 - internal server error".
    Is there an updated driver I can use? Does that driver support Community Server?

    Have either of you turned on "Enable Robust Exception Handling" in CF Administrator so a more detailed error message can be viewed?  If you are using IIS, have you set the Error Pages settings to show "Detailed errors" so it will pass through ColdFusion errors?

  • Unable to use Datasource.cfc in Admin API - The current user is not authorized to invoke this method

    Hi Everyone,
    I am having some issues accessing the methods in the datasource.cfc in the adminAPI.
    I can successfully load the administrator CFC and am told that I have successsfuly logged in;
    But when I try to subsequently load the datasource.cfc I get an error that the current user is unable to access the method.
    /* Create an Admin API object and call the login method */
                                                      var local = {};
Obj = createObject("component", "cfide.adminapi.administrator");
                                                      /* Enter your password for the CF Admin */
      /* if you dump this - TRUE is returned */
Obj.login(adminPassword="my_admin_user_password");
                                                      /* Create an object of datasource component */
Obj = createObject("component", "cfide.adminapi.datasource");
      writeDump(local.dsnObj.getDataSources());
    I tried creating separate admin users and passwords - yhinking that perhaps a revent hotfix had stopped the "admin" user from being allowed to use the adminAPI - but changing to a new adminuser yielded the same results.
    I could login to the admin API with the new username and passsword - but could not access the datasource.cfc after that.
    Here is the debug output from the error...

    and I agree I don't have "E" drive either!

    I've found a solution to my plight - I don't know if it'll work for you or help you try something that MAY fix it.
    I use a common code set which includes the Application.cfc from a CF Mapping - So, in the application.cfc in the actual website I do this:-
    <cfinclude template="/UberDirectory/Application.cfc">
    Then, in the /UberDirectory/Application.cfc, I was initialising a CFC which checks if the datasource was created for the website. The datasource checking code attempts to log into the Admin API and check & create if necessary the datasource.
    This has previously worked without fail for me - But in this instance it failed!! I was doing two things wrong - Firstly, the CFC should only be called in the Application.cfc in the onRequestStart section as the Application had to be initialised first - This is maybe because I've invoked the application.cfc in a "non-standard" manner.
    Secondly, once I'd moved the CFC invocation into oNRequestStart I saw the following error:-
    The string COOKIE.CFAUTHORIZATION_uber-directory is not a valid ColdFusion variable name.
    I had this as the app name .... <cfset this.name = 'uber-directory'>
    Changedthe dash to an underscore and I was away and could once again check the datasources
    Hope it helps

  • Fields missing after enhance datasource

    Hi again experts!
    I've a new problem today... is related with an append structure. I created an append structure for the 0article_attr datasource, then I activated it but now I can't see the new fields in the rsa6. I read in this forums some threads and I also verify two things: the new fields appears in rsa2 and NOT appear in the table ROOSFIELD.
    Please, I need urgent help!
    Federico

    Hello federico,
    What was your source system and system status ? plugin etc ?
    On a SRM system, we have the same problem, execpt that the fields is well mentioned in ROOSFIELD but we also cannot see them in RSA6.

  • Report builder connect to datasource outside of the network

    Hi,
    Locally, we installed report server on Machine (A) and the sql Server on Machine (B).
    My machine is also in the same network and via Report builder i can connect to report server and create shared dataset.
    but outside of network, when i use report builder i can connect to report server but i cannot create shared dataset : there is window appears titled "Enter data source credentials" demanding to enter login/password.
    I entered the same login/password defined in datasource created in report server but i obtained this message:
    "A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
    (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"
    how i can resolve it ?

    Disabling the windows firewall doesn't mean that there isn't a network firewall.  Try using a port scanning utility from outside your network to see if the port is being filtered (behind a firewall), listening, or being blocked.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24009
    You'll need to scan the port have configured for your report server URL, found through reporting server configuration manager in the advanced settings. Typically this is going to be port 80 or 443, but it could have been adjusted to something else, like

    Using Crystal Reports v.11.0.0.1282 I have written a report, which is running through a C++ program.  I recently had to change Datasources, and now, the report will only run on the c++ program if the data is in  the old datasource and not the new one.  When I look at the datasource location expert, I only see the one I had just changed to.  However, when I look at the dependancies I see this problem:
    Error     Data Source: Verify for table Command failed. Possible report corruption.     C:\acclaim\reports\Invoice Support.rpt
    Warning     Data Source: There are unlinked tables in your report. In some cases this could lead to an excessive quantity of records.     C:\acclaim\reports\Invoice Support.rpt
    Also when looking at or trying to change the links, I see this error:
    More than one datasource or a stored procedure has been used in this report.  Please make sure that no SQL Expressoin is added and no server side group-by is performed.
    How on earth can I see where the problem is.  I believe as the writer of the c++ program does, that it is still referencing the old Database, but I can't see it.
    PLEASE HELP!
    thanks you in advance!

    this is an ODBC connection, but yes I have tried a redo of the connection.
    I also can run the same query though my SQL manager, and get the results which I see in my report.  There does not really seem to be a problem with my report.  The problem seems to be with the program which is using it.  The man which had written is, is adamant it is not his program, and I am adamant that it is not my report.  However, the above errors may indicate that there is in face an error with my report.  I haven't been using crystal reports for very long so it's very frustrating when there is no documentation helpful to the errors.

  • Failed to verify gateway status. The remote name could not be resolved: 'machinename' Office 365, Power BI

    Hi
    I am trying to setup a Power BI On Premise datasource at a client site.
    I successfully installed the Data Management Gateway (DataManagementGateway_1.2.5303.1_en-us (64-bit)) software on a Windows Server 2012 box and created the Gateway on the Power BI Office 365 site.
    The Gateway is running correctly with no errors. When trying to setup the Datasource I get an error. As soon as I try to set the credentials the following message appears.
    Failed to verify gateway 'GatewayName' status. The remote name could not be resolved: 'servername.domainname.net’
    The servername which is returned in the error message is exactly the name which the DMG was installed on.
    There is a firewall in place with a proxy server and I don't know if this might cause the problems. The
    following website suggests adding the proxy settings in the config files of the DMG but this did not solve the problem.
    The above setup process works perfectly when running the DMG from my laptop, connecting to a Gateway and creating a DataSource connecting to SQL Server.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    HI
    Thank You for the reply.
    I resolved the issue in the mean time. I was on laptop which does not belong to the domain.
    When setting up the datasource you should be on the same domain as the datasource as per the below post.

  • HELP : How to access a datasource rowset in the AM class ?

    Hi,
    i have an AM "TestAM" which contains the viewobject "ViewTest".
    in the class "TestAMImpl.java" i added a method called "verify()".
    in my JSP i have initialised the AM and a datasource based on the VO "ViewTest" :
    <jbo:ApplicationModule id="am" configname="TestAM.TestAMLocal" releasemode="Stateful" />
    <jbo:DataSource id="ds" appid="am" viewobject="ViewTest" />
    <%
    TestAM am = (TestAM) am.useApplicationModule();
    String Message = am.verify();
    %>
    My question is how to access to the rowset of the datasource "ds" in the code of the method
    "verify()" ?
    public class TestAMImpl extends ApplicationModuleImpl implements TestAM {
    public String verify()
    How to access the rowset initialised in the JSP???????????
    Thanks for your help

    This is correct. Think of the AM as having a hashtable of instances of view objects that you can lookup by instance name.
    The <jbo:DataSource> tag lets you lookup an instance by name in the AM and get a reference to it to use in the JSP page. Within your AMImpl class, you can either:
    [list]
    [*]Call findViewObject("YourViewInstanceName"), or
    [*]Just call the generated getYourViewInstanceName() method which is ok to call inside the Impl class to get hold of the same VO.
    [list]

  • Error in adding a field to standard datasource

    Hi all,
    R/3 Side:
    I'm trying to add an field KDAUF to the standard datasource "2LIS_03_UM" from the transaction code LBWE.
    I'm getting the following error,
    Struct. from appl. 03 due to open V3 proc. not changed -> Long text
    Message no. MCEX140
    Diagnosis
    Changing the extract structure MC03UM0 of application 03 is not allowed as there are no V3 update entries for the update module MCEX_UPDATE_03.
    If an extract structure is changed for which there are still open V3 updates, these can no longer be updated and the V3 collective update is terminated.
    Procedure
    Start the V3 update using the "Job Control" function in the customizing cockpit (transaction yDS:TRAN.LBWE>LBWE) or delete those update entries that are already incorrect. You will find these in the update overview.
    I've deleted the delta queue form RSA7, deleted the data in setup tables, deleted from LBWQ and also from SM13.
    But still i'm getting the same error.
    Kindly help me in solving this error.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Have you followed the path:
    LBWE >>> Click on "Job Control" >>> Click on "Job Overview"
    If yes, then in the next screen you will find the list of all the job in various states, e.g. Scheduled, Released, Ready, Active, Completed.
    In your case, the relevant job  should be "LIS-BW-VB_APPLICATION_03_***". Select the one with status as Released.
    Also try verifying the same in sm37.
    Also please go through the Note 396647 - FAQ: V3 update: Questions and answers.
    I hope this helps.

    Nitin Suvarna

  • Crystal Reports 2008 - Error setting new datasource location

    Hi All,
    We are experiencing an issue while trying to set datasource location for our RM 3.0 reports in Crystal Reports 2008 designer. As per guide "SAP BusinessObjects Process Control 3.0 and Risk Management 3.0 - How to build and Personalize Custom Crystal Reports" (step 11), after opening the desire report we go to DataBase-->Set DataSource Location and when selecting our RM system (which actually has the BI content addon installed on it), we got the following error message:
    "Some tables could not be replaced, as no match was found in the new data source. Please verify the table required for any unmodified tables"
    I'm new on this so I'm not sure if the table indicated in the original datasource should exist in my DB (new datasource) before doing this? If so, how those tables are imported or created in our DB?
    Could you please help me on this issue?
    Please let me know if any other detail or data is required.
    Regards

    Hi Don,
    Thanks for the update.
    Actually I've installed SAP Integration Kit and its Fixpack in both....BOE Server (which is the same as the SAP server) and in client pc.  In all cases we have select a typical installation which supposes the required drivers are available. Also I've followed Ingo's documentation to activate and publish standard Risk Management reports (RM reports). Everything works ok with them. We are able to access reports through the application.
    The issue appears when trying to customize one of these standard reports through CR Designer. For example if we select the "GRRM_Risk_by_Risk_Category" and try to customize it as indicated in the "SAP BusinessObjects Process Control 3.0 and Risk Management 3.0 - How to build and Personalize Custom Crystal Reports"...the table behind this report (table GRFN_CY_API_GRRM_R1) it's not in our RM System. My main concern or question is regarding this....Did I miss something while importing transports files, activating or publishing RM reports, etc....and thatu2019s the reason why this (and any other) table is not already in my system? I was not able to find where those tables are supposed to be or how they should be imported in my system. The odd thing is...that we are trying to customize and set the new data source for these reports to the same system from where they are being opened. Put in this way...RM reports have been activated in system A (RM System) and published to system B (BOE System). While customizing reports through CR Designer...we are actually opening reports from system A. These reports have as their original data source...a demo SAP system info (uxcir1p.wdf.sap.corp) and when we want to update this data source with our RM system....the error appears. The whole process is explained in the above mentioned guide for your reference.
    Hope being clear enough..
    Thanks for your help
