Verizon Communication Should Be Better

Many of us have experienced problems since the latest firmware upgrade. By now Verizon knows about many of the problems due to forums like this one and increased complaints to CS reps (well reported). I wonder why Verizon doesn't send out a general message or email that would 1) apologize for the current mess, and 2) let us know the problems will be addressed as quickly as possible. An estimated time line would be a bonus. A credit on our next bill would be a super bonus. I suppose the Verizon legal dept wouldn't think highly of this idea because of potential liability, but the non- communication from Verizon makes folks feel like chumps for paying a lot of money for service that isn't optimal. Let's face it, if one of us was late paying a bill or skipped a payment, there would be. BIG penalty. Doesn't seem fair.

Looks to me (and I haven't been advised on changes) that this is a customer protection.  I don't know what the previous policy was, but this guarantees that if FiOS is no longer serviced in your area, you cannot be charged an early termination fee if there remains time left on your account.  It seems obvious that you wouldn't be he held responsible in such a case, but this is just putting it in writing.

Could you PM me  the new email address that  you wish to use? We can add it privately to your profile page so that we will have current contact information for you, even though the system will continue to show your old address. Does this make sense?

Not sure what link you are referring to. Out of curiosity I pulled up the page source, and the link I'm talking about directs to: http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Terms-of-Service-and-User/Welcome-to-Verizon-Community-Forums/board?boa...
This appears that the link is supposed to go to the Forum Feedback and Suggestions board, which I already knew about. (Obviously, since this post is on that board.) So it looks like the link just needs to be updated.
Unfortunately, I was hoping for an alternate route to support and/or a status post.

  • Free at Last, Free at Last... I Finally Left Verizon - Much Cheaper and BETTER Service!!

    I've been with Verizon over six years and I listened to their marketing of how they're the best and how the fees are higher but "we have better service".  Now that I left?  Noooooo greater feeling.  I know, I know... the fanboys will be all over me on this one... they certainly were when I brought up the topic of the price comparisons.  Now that I'm on Sprint, let me talk about the differences;
First of all, Sprint's plan is legit, but it's $79/month (but they'll give you at least 20% off of that!!).  It's UNLIMITED data (AT&T has a 2gb cap on all of my friends' plans and Verizon is going to cap it as well) and unlimited texting.  AND!!!!  The 450 minutes?  No minutes are counted when you call ANY cell phone.  Yes, you can call ANYONE for free... any company.  The only minutes that count against you are calls to landlines.  Verizon tried to "warn" me about their "roaming" charges.  Total lie.  If you are in the middle of nowhere, where they don't have towers, you then 'roam' which only means they borrow another tower and, in that case, the minutes go against your 450, but not "extra" charge.  Big whoop.  Verizon goes against your minutes no matter who you call (if it's out of 'network'), so it would be like 'roaming' charges with them.
Now, the price... Verizon's same plan for 3G is $59 unlimited data and texting, and $39 for 450 minutes... that's $98.  With my 22% discount, I'm paying roughly $64 a month now.  Even straight up, $79 vs. $98?  Really?  That's basically $20 a month... or in my case, $35 of savings a month; $420 a year.
Customer service.  Sprint wants to overtake Verizon (good luck with that) so they're desperate to make you happy.  Sprint's people in the store were AMAZING.  No ****, no putting down Verizon.  They just explained the different options and pricing.  NO FEES for "activation".  No fees for porting the number over.  No fees for bringing all of your contacts in.  And... my company discount expired but they hooked me up with another one anyway... they're willing to work with you.  I begged and begged and begged Verizon for almost six months to do SOMETHING to keep me because there was no way I was gonna pay almost $100 for one cell phone (if I got 3G).
Service.  I know Verizon busts its butt to have good service and all of that... but I dunno what it was, but I got ONE BAR at home... and nothing at work.  Now?  Four bars at home, three bars at work.  So... yeah.  Verizon's still great but when their customer service people were putting down Sprint, saying, "You'll be back, their coverage is terrible," that was not the case.
Freedom.  I got tired of the friggin' fees and overages.  Even now, Verizon's customer service person emailed and said, "If you come back within 90 days, we'll wave the port fees."  Oh yeah?  Woooooowwwww, gee, thanks Verizon.  That email literally made me 100% comfortable with my choice to leave.  Now I can text and not have to call DAT to see if I'm close to going over.  I can call people and not have to call MIN to see if I'm about to get overages... I can have super fast internet at 10x the speed that Verizon has available to its phone.
Overall... when I joined Verizon, I left AT&T because they were terrible and couldn't give a crap less about their customers... couldn't have been happier with Verizon at thte time.  Verizon was the 'good guy' back then, a growing company with great deals, wanting to please their would-be customers.  Now?  They're "Big Red"; arrogant, wanting to gouge you for even nickle and dime they can.  Heck, although my service was shut off after five days into the month, they informed me that they were billing me for the whole month... sucking every last penny out of me even though I have been without a contract for almost a year.  Maybe Sprint will become the same thing, who knows, but right now, they've been nothing but amazing.
I'm telling you guys... if you were as **bleep** as I was and hoping for some change, just go to a Sprint store and get the Evo... it's faaaaaar better than the iPhone 4 on so many levels... knowing that and knowing I'm paying about 2/3 of what Verizon was going to charge me leaves a smile on my face and money in my pocket - for BETTER service (in my case at least).  Verizon is an abusive relationship where you keep getting punched in the face with fees... but, for some reason, you still love them.  Marketing maybe?  They couldn't tell us when 4G was coming... they won't tell us about the phones... they won't tell us about the fees... but that sense of freedom and using my phone for its full potential is amazing.
Telling you guys... I thought Sprint was going to be terrible but the service is great and the price is ridiculous.  It's a no-brainer.

I think your pricing for the VZW plans is off by a bit... it's $59.99 for 450 min and unlim text + $29.99 for unlim data = $89.98 not $98. You quoted Sprint's pricing at $79 so that is a $10 difference. You also mentioned you have the evo which requires the 4g service charge of $10, I don't know if that was added into the cost you listed (or if they removed from last time I looked) but if it wasn't (which I don't think it was if I remember the pricing correctly) that would make sprint and VZW the same cost, although sprint has the slight advantage of the unlim to any mobile while within it's footprint. Then there was the comment of VZW capping their data usage... where did that come from? I would like to see some solid info about that so I can make an informed decision on what kind of phones and service to get in the future. The completion of your current month is something that you agreed to when you originally signed up for service so i don't even think we need to talk about that. As for being unable to talk about what kind of 4G phones and service VZW will have, it's a somewhat valid point, VZW is very closed mouth on new tech and plans and has been for a long time. But you were asking last summer expecting solid answers about plans and devices that won't be out for another month or two at best, that seems to be pushing. I disagree with the abusive relationship part, but it is going to be different for everybody so that's not really a point to argue either. In the end, no company can make everybody happy, and I'm glad you found a service that works for you. Just in the future please use the correct figures when quoting prices, they are less expensive in most cases but that doesn't make it worth it for everyone.

  • Starting in Firefox 26, MP3 content on Windows XP will open in the browser with the built-in player. The user should be better informed.

It was only after some hours of searching that I found the solution, on this page [ http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions ] which indicates the action to correct the problem (change the value of media.directshow.enabled). This involves using about:config.
Frankly I have better things to do with my time than getting Firefox to continue behaving as before. Lots of people download mp3 podcasts, this new behaviour is not helpful!!
I think (1) that offering the built-in player as the default is not good (even if you're proud of it), you should offer it as an option in the Tools>Options>Applications list.
I am taking the time to write this because I think FFX is a good product, but such changes without warning are likely to alienate faithful users, myself included.
    Best wishes

Hi the-edmeister and thanks for your response.
Yes it's in the release notes, but these are not necessarily very intelligible to average users, and anyway, all it says is "Support for MP3 decoding on Windows XP, completing MP3 support across Windows OS versions". What's that supposed to mean? Well, I can deduce what it means but many wouldn't. And it doesn't help in turning the thing off. There's a fancy purple "Changed" button but no link to details, that I saw.
My point is that changes like this can wreak havoc in the daily life of your average user, and I would suggest they should be introduced with more subtlety.
Such as, making "media.directshow.enabled" accessible in the regular settings dialogue, maybe under some such heading as "Firefox built-in player".
I spent hours trying to work out which damned third-party software had pre-empted audio handling in Firefox. The natural place to look in such a situation is Tools>Options>Applications, or maybe Content. If I'd seen "Firefox built-in player" with a check next to it I'd have known what to do.
So this is just feedback, trying to point out that having "Applications" handling options that don't have any effect, is not going to make users better disposed to their favourite navigator.

  • Pre-Order iTunes, you should be better than this...

Why havent I been contacted regarding the Pre-order download issue. I know that its only $10.99 but come on...I had to hear this from the actual artist instead of who I am making the purchase from. You all have to do better than this...

Please be aware that you are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. Most of the people who will reply to your posts are, like me, your fellow users.
As to your post, I don't know what you mean "download issue". Do you mean that you were not notified that the album is now available? If so, have you confirmed that emails from Apple are not being blocked by an anti-spam filter on your email account or email application?
    Regards.

  • What Verizon phone should I purchase?

So, it's time to upgrade my cell phone. I've been with Verizon for many years, & they still get the best reception around New England, as far as I know, so, regrettably, I'd like to stick with them.
I went to the Verizon store yesterday & every thing was PC compatible, & the guy said nothing was made for Macs. This didn't make sense to me for some reason, but I'm new to the whole wireless internet thing with my new iBook.
    He recommended the Q phone.
QUESTION: Which phone will communicate with my Apple computers?
Again, as I have posted in other questions, which phones WILL work, not which phones SHOULD work?
    Jesse

I'm using a Nokia 6600 with Salling Clicker installed. See this site:
    <http://www.salling.com/Clicker/mac/devices.php>
Salling Clicker is great; it recognizes my phone when I come within bluetooth range and starts playing my iTunes, pauses iTunes when the phone rings or when I make a call, and resumes when I'm done. It also acts as a remote or mouse to control my G5 from anywhere in my shop. Someone comes in, and I turn the volume down with my phone. When I get in my truck to go home at the end of the day, I leave with the music playing and soon as I get out of range, it pauses. It really is just like a refrigerator light- on when I need it.
In regard to a new phone, when I look for one it will be a Nokia running the Symbian OS, possibly an E61, which has WLAN. I will buy an unlocked phone, and simply insert my SIM card from my current phone and start making calls. I'm using T-Mobile, BTW.
Whatever phone you get, make sure it works with Salling Clicker- you'll be glad you did.

  • NSU should add BETA Section !

Nokia should consider adding a BETA Section on the NSU for Nokia users to Register to the BETA Firmware Update. This will help Nokia were users can leave direct feedback of the firmware and wat bugs it contains n so on.

  • OK - my 4s all of a sudden does not connect to wifi - i've noticed chatter out there on this happening to a lot of other people. Apple seems not to want to acknowledge this as a problem. What's up Apple? Should be better than that!

If this is a widespread problem ... then it sounds like Apple needs to step up.
By their handling of this problem I can only suspect that they have an arrangement with carriers to have the wifi become disabled so that we have to use the carriers... and go over our ... data plans.
6 months to go on my plan ... sorry Apple but after 15 years of loyalty ... I'm going to have to reconsider my next phone. When the customer gets treated like a buisiness ... then I guess we have to do the same to you ... nothing personal. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out!

    Hi Seraphiel07.
I have a very similar issue. Hardware involved:
Apple MacMini (Mid 2011) - OSX 10.8.2. iTunes 10.7. Home Sharing enabled.
Apple TV (3rd Generation). Home Sharing (access) enabled.
Apple MacBook Pro (15" Mid-2009). OSX 10.8.2. iTunes 10.7. Home Sharing enabled.
Apple iPad 2 (Wifi only). iOS 6
    Apple iPhone 4S. iOS 6
    All connected through:
Apple Time Capsule 8.0211n (4th Gen)
I have an iTunes library on the MacBook Pro, shared over "Home Sharing" and another (duplicate content, different library name) iTunes library on my MacMini, which is also accessed through the Apple TV.
All software is current (as of Sep 26th).
All movies are iTunes purchases. 80 in total.
All files are purchased (and home shared) under one account.
My last two iTunes purchases both HD movies on 09/17/2012 and 09/05/2012 refuse to appear on any device accessing either of the two Libraries over Home Sharing. It should be noted that every other movie (the other 78) all show up and play correctly. I therefore know it is not an issue with connectivity, otherwise I would see zero movies available.
    I have:
    1. Removed all content from each Library and re-added
    2. Upgraded the OS on the MacMini 10.8.2
    3. Tested viewing the two missing movies on other Apple devices and no luck.
    4. Turn home sharing on and off within iTunes and also on each device.
It would appear to me that the issue is with the files themselves, rather than the devices as different devices and different versions have been tested.
    All comments welcome.

  • How do I get Verizon to DELETE my Verizon Community Account?

Customer service has no idea how to delete my account and does not have any idea who to send me to.
Jive 7.0 needs an admin to suspend and delete accounts.<According to the help documentation>

I would also like to get out.  The rewards are a bad joke - worth almost nothing (10% off?  Are you kidding?), and the tracking is beyond invasive.  Note the following from the terms and conditions:
"Verizon Selects uses information about customer use of Verizon products and services, interests and demographics to help advertisers (sic) (emphasis added)...".
That pretty much covers everything we do on our phones.  It's a huge invasion of privacy.  We're giving Verizon valuable information and getting nothing in return.
