Verizon Screwed-Up the Guide Again

The Guide format changed for the worse again today. As if it wasn't enough to screw it up a few months ago when Verizon applied changes to the way channels were filtered (or not) within the guide; they also added a banner across the bottom of the screen, thereby reducing the number of visible channels by 1. Now, today, Verizon not only changed the format of the channel names (unnecessarily), but they also added a summary detail of the selected channel (which we used to get by pressing the "info" button. This change resulted in the removal of 2 other channels on the screen to make room for the summary. They also got rid of the banner at the bottom of the screen, but they didn't restore the previously removed channel, so now it's just a wasted line that could have shown another channel. Ridiculous. How about some Human Factors assessments? How about some feedback from customers regarding options? I don't appreciate the changes Verizon keeps making to the guide. They're not helpful. Please give us the freedom to select how many channels we can see within the guide at one time. Allow us to select whether or not we want to see the show details in the main screen of the guide. But most importantly, please stop screwing with the guide. Thanks, Rich
Solved!
Go to Solution.

I must admit that I came here to vent out of despair that Verizon couldn't help given my last experience - I never thought you all would be so interested in helping me solve this problem.  Thank you and I appreciate it!
SinCara, it's a 52" HD set to 16:9, w/ the banner turned off.  And it does say FiOSQUANTUMTV in the top right corner.  I'm baffled.  This morning, I now have 7 channels displayed in the guide and the selected channel is slightly above the center of the screen ... whereas, for the past two days, the selected channel was shifted one position lower, while the guide displayed 1 less channel.
To your point, I do admit that the new guide is easier to read - especially the improved contrast of the selected channel.  I just wish it didn't require the summary be shown.  I haven't figured-out the AutoHD tune.
Regarding not being able to post a picture, too funny.  I use Firefox with NoScript and I intentionally limit the domains from which I allow scripts to run.  I hadn't approved "Lithium.com" scripts because the site was functional for me ... but now that I have allowed Lithium.com, the grey menu bar appeared and I see the link to attach photos to my post as well as employing other RTF features.
At this point, I need to declare this as closed/solved.  Thank you all for your help - I do appreciate it!
Sincerely,
Rich

  • No one can ever say Verizon doesnt listen since they changed the guide again. To me its to dark now.

People complained so much about the guide being to bright that they changed it.
I loved the 1.9 guide. It was bright and colorful and full of life. I had my tv settings correct. Wasnt to bright, wasnt to dark, was perfect. I bet a lot of those who complained about it had their tv color and other options up to high.
Now that its back to the old dark colors its boring, dreary, and depressing. I have never liked dark stuff.
I wish Verizon was able to have an option to choose between the 2 color schemes like Bright House used to do.
They had a blue, red, and green color scheme.
I'll be on the complaining side now. Its to dark Verizon. Find something in between the 2 or find a way for us to choose.
For those who dont have the update yet here it is.

I believe that where VZ failed was in not recognizing that people perceive things differently, and then providing a method to adapt the guide to one's individual needs. Some people have eyes sensitive to light, and others less so. And some have difficulties with certain colors. Just as we have adjustments to our TVs to alter the picture to suit our tastes, there should be some sort of control for the guide parameters as well.

  • How is it impossible to change the shipping method when Verizon Wireless is the one who screwed up?

Verizon Wireless doesn't have an email address because they know they'd get inundated with their many dissatisfied customers. I used to say "I love Verizon Wireless!!" now when people ask why I'm still with Verizon I say, "Better the devil I know than the devil I don't." And that's what almost everyone I know says!!! Why are we paying for terrible customer service and terrible policies!!! Don't they get enough money from us without having to treat us like garbage?!?!?!
Anyway, this is a bit of a rant, and I just hope someone sees it who can try to effect some change, although I doubt that's possible.
I know this is probably not the best way to resolve my issue, but I've been on the phone with customer service for over an hour, and I don't have time to go through the proper channels to leave feedback that I'm not sure even gets reviewed.
I ordered a new iPhone 5c on March 31st, through a promotion where I got the 32GB for free. Wonderful promotion, I was very excited, it worked out very well for me. I entered my credit card information to pay the $30 upgrade fee, which, quite frankly, should be illegal, and Verizon Wireless should be ashamed of themselves for charging customers to continue being customers. But that's a battle for another day.
The iPhone 5c was on back order and was guaranteed shipped by April 18th. I'm a tax accountant, so it works out well that I was super busy and not staring at the mailbox during those 18 days. But every now and then I checked my order status and it was never updated with FedEx. So I was a little concerned. On Friday, April 18th at 6.06 EST, I called in and spoke with a woman who assured me nothing was wrong with my order, and by the time the weekend was over, I should have an updated status. I asked her to review it carefully because I was concerned that I hadn't received any kind of update. She said there was nothing in there to delay my order.
Cut to Tuesday, April 22. I was perturbed, but not alarmed that I didn't have my new phone. Until my mother reminded me that she was getting my old phone, and her grace period ends on Friday, when she needs to either reconnect a phone, or start paying for service again, with or without the phone. So I called Verizon to find out what was going on.
The $30 charge didn't go through, so they never sent my device out. There is no reason the charge didn't go through, I have confirmation that I entered my card information correctly, there was over $2,000 in that account. So nothing on my side was amiss. Nobody at customer service can figure out why the payment didn't process. And nobody has the authority to expedite the shipping of my new phone. Ashley had me on hold for over 10 minutes while she conferred with a supervisor. Then she hung up on me. An accident, I know, but she didn't try to call me back, or text me to give me a callback number (which I've been told is an option).
So I had to call back in and explain this all over again to a new representative who was unable to transfer me to Ashley. And Ashley didn't put her correct inner email on my call record, so the new rep couldn't contact her. The new rep said all she could do was take the $30 payment, and then send my phone out. I was understandably upset at how I'd been hung up on, and previously lied to by the rep on Friday the 18th. But the rep insisted there was nothing she could do to expedite the shipping of my phone. I asked to speak to a supervisor, waited almost 20 minutes, which I understand.
The supervisor gets on the phone, and insists there's nothing she can do to expedite the shipping of my phone. Even after I explained the whole story, she still couldn't do anything. Because I chose normal shipping when I ordered the phone, they couldn't change it to overnight shipping now without cancelling the order. But if they cancelled the order, then I wouldn't be eligible for the promotional price, since that promotion had ended. I find it hard to believe 1) that there is **nobody** at Verizon Wireless customer service who can contact the warehouse and ask them to overnight a shipment and 2) that there is **nobody** at Verizon Wireless who could cancel my original order, create a new order with overnight shipment, and then waive the price of the phone to be in line with the promotion/sale.
I find it equally impossible to believe that in special circumstances, you can't forward the stock request to a store near me so I can pick up in person.
And then, to make matters even more fun, the supervisor I was on the phone with told me I had to order asap, because the shipping cutoff had passed 15 minutes before, and there wasn't even a guarantee that my phone would be shipped out at the end of the day. So instead of getting my phone a week later than I should have, I'd be getting it over a week later than I should have. To further compound my anger and frustration, when I called Verizon on March 31st to ask a question about my update, I sat on hold for a few minutes and was transferred and then hung up on. So I was hung up on twice by customer service, and that still didn't get me what I wanted.
Now, I know these are first world problems. But if consumers keep letting themselves get pushed around by the big monopolies who don't care about my $75 a month, then it will just get worse.
Ask yourself: Would you stay with a company who treated you the way I was treated above?
If you made it this far, thanks for reading.
    Sincerely,
Soon to be a Former Verizon Customer

I think most Verizon customers feel the same way:/  I was chatting with Verizon for over 2 hours and they still wouldn't help me.  Verizon Wireless and their customer service is TERRIBLE!!  I do not know why they still have customers.  I upgraded to the iPhone 5S end of December 2013.  I spent over $250 for the brand new iPhone 5S and only had it for 3 mos before I started having problems with it.  It is now June and am on my 3rd iPhone 5s.  This 3rd phone is having issues already, which will make it the 4th phone since I upgraded and the 3rd replacement refurbished phone they sent me.  I called today asking for a new phone.  I do not want any part of the iPhones anymore with as many problems as I have had.  I spoke to 3 different representatives, and none of them would help me.  I still have a year and a half at least left on my contract, so they are going to let me go through god knows how many more iPhones before my contract ends. They basically stated that if I wanted a different phone I have to pay full retail price for a new phone or else be stuck with replacement iPhone 5S' for the next year and a half.  Verizon is worthless!!  I'm thinking I'm going to switch carriers.  I spent so much money on a brand new phone when I upgraded and only had the new phone for 3 mos....that's just ridiculous and unfair and Verizon won't replace it with another brand new phone. I am stuck with refurbished iPhone 5S'.

  • Spring is in the air, and right on cue my Verizon DSL stops working. AGAIN

Some background. I have Verizon DSL service, with a phone line dedicated to its use. The phone line is used for nothing else, and has the required filters attached.
Two years ago, when spring arrived, we began have trouble with out internet connection. Our modem would get a red light on the Internet connection. This would happen every day between 10am and noon, and would last from minutes to hours. I spent hours on the phone with Tech support. They reduced speed, which was unnacceptable and did not work. They sent a tech to our home twice that summer to replace lines inside the house, replace line outside the house, make adjustments at  the central office and the local "hub". Nothing worked. Fall came, the issues stopped, and everything worked fine thoughtout the winter.
Last year, spring arived, we began to have trouble with out internet connection. Same thing as the previous year. Called tech support. Told them that I had done this song and dance the previous year. I would not start from the beginning with every single call, I would not turn off/on the modem, give model numbers, check direct lines from computer to modem. I had done it all the previous year. I thought surely there was some kind of record for my account that could be accessed. To no avail. I spent countless hours and days on the phone with tech support. I spoke with techs, supervisors, managers, talked, yelled, got nowhere. They sent a new modem. Nothing changed. They sent the same tech to my home as the previous year. He still didn't know what the problem was. Changed the phone jack. Changed a different line outside. Still didn't work.
I came on here and left a lenghthy message voicing my frustration. I was told that someone from the US tech support office would contact me (Executive Appeals). The representative from there was very helpful. He explained what each of the lights on the modem did and what blinking/not blinking/ off/red actually meant. He had them change the modem at the central office. Problem solved, I thought. We had out normal running speed of 3360/863 again. No more internet cutting out daily. But, it was fall. Apparently, this would have happened anyway. Because...
This year, spring arrived, and we are having trouble with our internet connection. We have any and all combinations appearing on the modem. The internet cuts out at all times of the day and night. It stays off for minutes to hours. Internet flashes, turns red, goes out. DSL and DATA blink, stay on, alternate blinking speeds. Sometimes the phone line has static, other times it doesn't. There is no pattern to anything.
I have not called normal tech support. The people in India are clueless, have never come close to solving the issue, and I will not waste my time and cell phone minutes talking to them. I saved the phone number and all information for the US representative I spoke with last year. I have left 2 messages for him over the past week. He will not return my call. Our internet speed had gone from 3360kbps/863kbps, to 2928kbps/860kbps, to 2560kbps/860kbps, to 2112kbps/860kbps over the course of the last week, as shown on the verizon modem page. This is what they do every year, and it in UNACCEPTABLE. Slowing the speed accomplishes nothing, since we still have the same problems. All that changes is we have DSL service that runs a little faster than dial-up.
If anyone out there has a suggestion as to what I can do to fix these issues after 3 years, please let me know. Apparently no one at Verizon knows how to address the problem.

    Verizon Reps,
I have not been to my private message thread "Spring is in the air, and right on cue my Verizon DSL stops working. AGAIN"  since the beginning of June. The problems I was experiencing have not been fixed, but I was not posting because nothing was happening for a while. My Verizon Appeals rep was trying to figure out what to do.
She has since had 2 techs come to the house. The second one just recently. He changed something in the box a few blocks away. This not only didn't fix it, but has made the issue more prevelent than it was before. I would like to record all of our outages and lost connections, but the thread appears "closed".
At this point, I'm not sure it matters. The rep all but said that she has no idea what to do to fix it, or if it can be fixed. Fresh out of ideas, I guess. But I'd still like to keep track, since we have been without internet more than with for the last few days.
    Thanks,
    Theresa

  • Newest Firefox update screwed up the yahoo toolbar, AGAIN!

Once again the update, which is SUPPOSEDLY an upgrade screwed up the yahoo toolbar so that ALL the app buttons have disappeared and can't be reloaded. This seems to happen every other time Mozilla updates Firefox. WHY is it so impossible to do an update that doesn't screw this up? This is a common constant issue with updates.

I don"t know how or why this worked but I went to tools clicked on add-ons and went to Yahoo toolbar and hit options button. I added a skin to my toolbar and wow there it was my yahoo toolbar. Hope it works for others.

  • My Verizon Nightmare - Be weary of poorly trained Verizon employees in the Costco kiosks

A few days ago my week old HTC Droid Incredible 4g LTE that I purchased at Costco developed a circular blob of yellow discoloration on the lower-left portion of the screen in the area right above the micro-USB port. It seemed to get darker while connected to the charger, but never disappeared entirely.  It got progressively getting worse and, if it wasn't my imagination, another spot started to form on the lower-right hand side of the screen.  Called the Verizon kiosk at Costco (where I bought the phone), they said to bring the phone, the charger, and the box back immediately and they would exchange it for a new one on the spot.  The sales associate said he had not heard of this problem before.  I originally posted this problem in the Android forum and some helpful community members suggested it was the charger port overheating.
Update: Ugh! What a nightmare! So, I brought the phone back to Costco within my 14 day exchange period.  The Verizon employee who had sold and set up my phone a week earlier was, unfortunately, not there this day.  The guy who was at the kiosk was a complete !@%hole and, worse, an idiot.  At first he refused to exchange the phone because I didn't bring back the free bonus Costco "accessory package" (a car charger and a couple cheap generic screen protectors) that they give away with every cell phone purchase.  I tried to reason with him that the two were completely separate, only the phone needed to be exchanged, and it didn't make sense bring back what wasn't part of the HTC phone package.  I also told him I called first and was told to bring only the what came in the phone's box.  He wouldn't budge and actually wanted to argue about it in the middle of the store.  I told him there was no way in hell I was driving 20 miles back to my house for $5 in junk that didn't even need to be returned and he better get a manager. After about 15 minutes, he finally came back and said he was told to do the exchange without the "accessory package," which just seemed to make his attitude all the worse.  Then things got really bad.
This guy didn't know the difference between a SIM card and an SD card.  In fact, he didn't even know where the SIM and SD card slots were on the this phone!  When he finally found them (I wasn't giving him any hints, it was too funny to watch stumble around , especially since he still had a bad attitude), he was going to leave my SIM card in the old phone, thinking that I only needed the SD card.  I tried to explain the difference between the two and why I needed both but that just made him more confused. I then asked if he realized we also needed to sync the old and new phones so all of my apps, data, ringtones, settings, etc. would be transferred. He said he didn't know anything about that and they only had that kind of "equipment" at the "corporate stores" (the nearest of which was 15 miles away).  He said the only option was to factory reset the phone to make sure my personal data was erased.  Long story short: I got the phone exchanged and the screen on the new one seems to work alright. But I lost all of my apps (free and paid for), data, settings, and paid ringtones that weren't on the SD card.  Once I got home, I called Verizon corporate customer service to tell this story.  For the most part, I got an attitude of "what do you want us to do about it?" and that they could care less.  The rep even tried to tell me the guy in the kiosk wasn't a Verizon employee, it was all Costco's fault (I called Costco to clarify this and they said the kiosks ARE owned by Verizon and operate independently of Costco; Costco is only responsible for selling the hardware).  The rep tried to walk me through recovering my paid ringtones from the MyVerizon site, but right after the tones were sent to my new device, the site informed I was being billed for them AGAIN.  The rep had no solution to offer for this and suggested I call back in a month to complain again when I get my next bill.
I plan to write both the corporate offices of Verizon and Costco to complain again, but since my data is lost, I wonder if I'm just wasting stamps....

Well, another update I feel obligated to post.  A very nice Verizon customer service rep called me this afternoon after reading these posts (I sent a link in an email) and sincerely apologized for something not personally his fault and, perhaps, not directly Verizon's.
First, the rep explained that the cellphone sales kiosks in Costco stores are owned neither by Costco nor Verizon, but by a third-party, a company called "Wireless Advocates."  I researched this a bit online and it appears to be the case.  Regardless, if I were Verizon, I would not want such a company representing and peddling my product with such poorly trained and disagreeable reps.
Second, the customer service rep patiently took the time to walk me through the process of recovering my apps (while the kiosk rep basically told me I was screwed).  Unfortunately, each of my 30 or so apps has to be reinstalled manually one by one, but at least they're grouped together in one place in my Google Play account.  However, the data associated with those apps is still lost as many of them cached their data locally on the old phone (not on the SD card).
One final note to confirm the kiosk rep's lack of knowledge, I happened to come across this today: Verizon's own website specifically states that to exchange a defective phone within the 14-day period, one need only "return the merchandise (including device, charger, battery, instructions, and any other components) in the ORIGINAL box" and, further, "for exchanges for the same merchandise make and model, only the item to be exchanged needs to be returned." (emphasis added).  http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/globalText?textName=RETURN_POLICY&jspName=footer/returnPolicy.jsp  The rep being a complete jerk and insisting that I drive 20 miles home to bring back the free (i.e. junk) Costco "accessory package" that didn't need to be returned is just inexcusable.
I guess I should edit the title of this thread to read "Be Weary of poorly trained 'Wireless Advocates' employees peddling Verizon products in the Costco kiosks."  But that's a bit long-winded.  Thanks for everyone's input, much appreciated.

  • What's The Point Of Having DVRS If The Guide Is Incorrect?

As the holiday season is upon us with a new year right around the corner verizon's guide issues still continue to get worse and worse with each day that passes with no end in sight as to verizon actually making an effort to correct the guide issues that currently exist. The schedules that verizon has running on their channels are so far off that it must be some sort of a sick inside joke to see how much the customers will take before they decide to go elsewhere for their services because of the reluctance to want to assist customers with all of the data that is wrong on the guide. If you want something corrected you are on your own since tickets that get created do not get worked on or looked at by the people who can make the necessary corrections. Now while i have been in touch with your guide provider and many of the channels on the guide to get things corrected (which i should not have to do) things have been getting fixed little by little but the frustrating thing is that even after i get them corrected for everyone who has fios for their tv service two weeks later it reverts back to being the same issues all over again. Very few people know that i have been doing this but if there is anyone at verizon who can actually assist with this issue then please do so because there are a lot of people who are having the same issues nationwide who are at the point where they are going to drop you if you do not fix the guide issues. I would be embarrassed to know if it were my company that was incapable of providing something that people are paying for and that the customers have to do my job for me rather than those who are being paid to do it so if you can assist those of us who have these guide issues please do so or at least give people a reason as to why you are not doing so rather than saying that it is a known issue. It being a known issue and a company doing nothing about it is truly disturbing because then the perception will be that apathy is the reason for not wanting to correct the guide problems.

Have you voted here. Get rid of FYI and what ever additional provider adds data. What good is all the additional info, if it is all wrong. Nice guide bad data.

  • "..phone_app (57) not responding" on both my and my daughters Verizon 9630 for the last 2 months!

Help - our Verizon Blackberries lock up several times a day starting  2 months ago - both on my 9630 in Seattle and my daughters 9630 in Denver.  Both started at the same time.
The error is usually that the hourglass spins for a while, then the phone hangs for several minutes then comes a black window with the message "Uncaught exception: Application net_rim_bb_phone_app (57) is not responding; process terminated" (then the phone comes back) or an all white screen with "App Error S23 - Reset" (then the phone reboots) - and since it was on both phones at almost the same time we know it is related to a "BB software update issue".
Stores in CO and WA have told us both that this is a known issue and we should replace our phones!  The suggestion to delete a bunch of emails doesn't solve the problem.  We've tried the latest update patiently for 2 months - and we haven't loaded any apps except Google maps - but it keeps locing up several times a day!
Our 2 year plans are out in August but  didn't want to buy new onesand we need our phones!  HELP!

  • DCT 700 box and the "Guide" channel

I've read all the posts regarding the DCT 700 box, which I have in my room and have found the answer to my question of why I dont get the guide channell.
The next question I have is a rather dumb one, but here goes: Can I just manually enter a channel to go to the guide channel to see whats on tv or is it impossibe to find out whats on tv with the DCT 700 box?
    Thanks for your help. Not quite sure of how this forum works and how I will get the replies to this post,{edited for privacy}
    Once again, Thanks

You will get the replies to this post underneath your post; it is called a "thread."
I think you are confusing a few things here.
The DCT-700, the "digital converter," does not have an electronic program guide. That is the Verizon-provided program guide which is built into the software on your set-top box. All of the set-top boxes besides the digital converter have it. It is not a "guide channel," but rather a graphic generated and displayed by your set-top box.
You referred to a "guide channel." I assume you mean the TV Guide Channel, which all cable providers have had for decades. Last year, the TV Guide Channel was bought by a different company, and in May 2010, it stopped providing any program guide at all, across all cable providers. It only airs regular programming like any other TV channel now. I am guessing they made this decision because a lot of people now have set-top boxes which give them a program guide anyway. Similarly, I don't think they have a print program guide like they used to (it was popular in the 90s and 80s), nor do most newspapers print any substantial program guide anymore.
So if you are looking for a "guide channel," you are not going to find one. So in that sense, yes, it is impossible to find out what's on TV with a digital converter (DCT-700).

  • Is there a program to get the GUID of a Mozzilla application or Mozilla fork such as K-Meleon or Waterfox or is there a respository that contains these GUIDs?

We have several plugins that in the past successfully ran in other Mozilla based browsers such as K-Meleon, Sea-Monkey, Netscape, etc.
In the past the plugin needed to be manually installed or required a special downloadable installer to get the plugin installed/ working with browsers like these.
Recent work on many of these projects now allow you to install plugins directly through the web or though about:addons and then restart the browser to complete the installation, just like in Firefox.
We have the list of the most popular GUIDs from the Mozilla documentation listed below, however we do not have the GUIDs for the more obscure Mozilla based forks or projects.
    - Firefox, Thunderbird, Nvu, Mozilla Suite or Mozilla Browser 1.x, SeaMonkey, Sunbird, Netscape, Flock, and Mobile.
Is there a way to find the GUIDs for these other browsers: K-Meleon, Waterfox, Firefox Nightly (we are guessing the Nightly builds use the same GUID as Firefox) so that we can add the appropriate information to our install.rdf and update.rdf files or does one need to get in contact with the respective projects to determine these?
For our use either an application that does this, or even a small script that could be run to determine the GUID of these other Mozilla based browsers would be great. If these don't exist, is there a public document or repository that can be accessed to get these GUIDs?
Additionally, is it possible that some of the obscure Mozilla based forks do not contain or utilize GUIDs that are used by the install.rdf and update.rdf manifests? If so, what can we do so that our plugins can be installed automatically for these browsers through the web or about:addons?
Is there a way to tell an install manifest that a particular browser is supported even though no GUID exists for that browser so that the installation can proceed as normal for that browser?
My apologies for the lengthy details and for so many questions. I have searched around and have not been able to find answers to these questions so I figure what better place than directly from Mozilla.
Thanks again for so many great products over the years and for the continued development of most of them. :-)

  • What's wrong with the Guide?

Today the guide for On demand is wonky and I can't figure out how to get it back to normal. And this white on bright blue has got to go. It's very hard to read. This is going from bad to worse. How do I change this setting back to normal???
Makes me wish I stayed with Comcast.

Are you talking about the recent change to the guide? We just sent out an update that changes the layout, appearance, and color of the guide. There is no way to revert it back.

Firstly, what is the source of the 10.6.4 disc? Is it the original installation disc for your MacBook, or one 'borrowed' from another computer?
It isn't the retail version, because that's 10.6.3.
Assuming it's the correct disc (i.e. the one that shipped with your Mac), you need to boot from it again.
    OK the language page.
From the installer screen, ignore the continue button, go to the menu bar and choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
In DU, select your internal drive in the sidebar (the top item with the makers name and serial no.).
Run Repair Disk. If that comes up as disk OK, click the partition tab. Select the partiton from the drop-down above the graphic; 1 partiton is all you need.
Go to the options button and ensure that the partition scheme is GUID and the file system to Mac OS Extended (Journalled). Name the partiton (usually Macintosh HD), click Apply.
When the Macintosh HD volume appears below the drive name, quit DU and see if you can then install.
If the screen after the language screen doesn't show the menu bar, it may be necessary to use another Mac to do the job with the MB in Firewire Target Disc Mode. If it won't boot in TDM, or the MB doesn't have FireWire then it's getting very difficult.

Verizon is using the Elipsis tablets to steal data from their customers.  The only way to stop data from registering as cellular data is to pull the SIM card.  This occurs with wifi enabled and cellular, dara disabled.  If,you take your tablet to a Verizonstore they will upgrade your data plan to cover the overage and credit the upgrade.  You will then have to remember to downgrade your plan or continue to pay for more data.  Verizon, how would you feel if I walked into one of your stores and started filling my pockets with merchandise?  If cought can I just give the product back and say "oops, sorry"

Today, my FCC complaint hit the same person working on the BBB complaint.  Jimmie has been very nice and seems willing to work with this problem.  We have been able to come to an agreement.  I paid the purchase price for the phone and he returned my upgrade and unlimited data plan.  This is what would have occurred if Verizon had given me correct information to begin with.  I am happy with this result.  He also brought quite a few instances concerning the handling of my transfer and upgrade that did not follow proper procedure.  I am also confident that I would not have resolved this without complaining to BBB and or FCC.  Verizon had no interest in solving the problem nor did they show any propensity to keeping a 20 year client.  Even though this last CSR was very polite and helpful, his sole job is to respond to formal Federal and State complaints.  He is required by law to address every complaint and report the reporting agency the agreed upon results - good or bad.  Again, I suggest - If you are not getting the proper customer service, complain to someone outside of Verizon.  Jimmie had not received any complaints registered with Verizon directly and I still have not had any contact with any other management representative that I was told would call.

  • In PSE 12, I lost the left hand tool bar in the GUIDED mode, how do I get it back?

I generally use Elements in Guided mode and Expert. But at some point I lost the tools on the left hand side. The pencil and brush, the blur and healing tool, etc. Basically everything one needs to work. But Expert and Quick modes still have their tool sets. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I would really appreciate any information I can get!

    Hi Brian,
Basically, you got that right. Where i have complete tool sets for Quick and Expert, I only have the hand and magnifying glass in guided. And this happened only in the last 2 weeks, prior to that the Guided mode had its complete set as well.
I'm beginning to suspect that theres a problem with this version of Elements. I am a long time user of Adobe Illustrator, and many a time I would inadvertantly  mis-key something that would call up a screen change that would drive me nuts for a few minutes. I thought that maybe I had done something like that here,- with Elements. Not out of the question. But I'm older and slower, and never was as fluent in PS as Illustrator.
I am curious, I know these forums exist to help one another,- and I am grateful for whatever help I get, BUT doesn't there come a point where the manufacturer of the product should "step up to the plate" as they say??
    Again, thanks for your help.
    Fred

  • How Palm & Verizon screwed me

Palm Pre Plus on Verizon.  It has a lot of fans.  I was one of them at first.  The smaller design, it's fast & has multitasking, has a screen responsiveness almost as good as the IPHONE.  Kudos.
But where Pre Plus and Verizon gave up on the phone is its basic productivity software for rending/downloading and viewing a Word File, PDF File, PowerPoint or Excel sheet.  The phone has the software OS capable of reading the latter basic file types... I realize its not a Windows OS phone.
The issue I take with both companies, Pre and Verizon, is when the rendering software started to crash you didn't work as partners to solve and invest on the issue.  It is 2011 and being able to read an MS Office file from an email received or a PC to Palm Pre transer should be basics.
The biggest insult to me is I signed up for a year like anyone who has had a lesson learned about the limits of wireless phone capability.  When I bring to the issue to VzW, I get nothing but the regrets speech and blame the issue on Palm development having a poltics about their investment directions (HP).  Palm 2nd Tier support choked on this issue for several months leaving thousands of customers hanging around for a fix that never came.
And Verizon Wireles.... I brought to the VzB Customer Center a bonafide Palm Pre team email stating "we regret we will never fix this", "this is a well known issue and buyer beware".... I got no compromise from Verizon in terms of anything.  No early upgrade, nothing but buy a Pre-Owned phone at full price and go month to month.
Thanks Verizon Wireless for being in it for yourself and not your consumer on this one.

I bought a palm Pre plus, tried it for 30 days and kept it. It wasn't perfect, but it provided, for me an acceptable level of service. I particularly liked the wifi hotspot. As a long time palm user, i continued to find that functions that I had come to depend on from prior palm phones were missing or poorly implemented. I was not happy. i bought missing sync software to replace some functions that used to be included with palm phones. I regretted the purchase, but i had had my 30 days, made my decision and was now committed to a two year contract. Now the interesting part. The phone broke. It was replace by Assurian with another Pre plus that was really broken and then replaced again with a Pre 2. Now the wifi hot spot doesn't work and almost half my emails are unreadable. After repeated requests to both Verizon and Palm, they seem either unable or unwilling to fix these new problems. Now there no doubt in my mind that I would have kept this phone for the first 30 days without the wifi hot spot or the email problem. The question is am I still bound by the 2-year contract? I seriously resent being compelled to pay for services and functions that I am not and will not receive. Moreover, having functions arbitrarily reduced or terminated without effective recourse is infuriating. I could willingly if not happily abide with a buyer beware policy.
