VI Profiling in LV 2011

How do we profile execution time, memory usage, etc of a running app the way the old VI Profiler used to do (despite its flaws)?
I've used DETT, but that only seems to show VI call/return events. Can it take all those and report VI statistics like avg execution time, # times called, etc?
I don't want to (re-)invent this myself.

  • Clients behind shared wireless can only connect one at a time to RV042

I am using a RV042 HW version 3 (black front panel and blue user interface).
I have have 2 vpn users who share an apartment.
They use a wireless router to get to the internet.
Both use Windows 7 (firewall enabled) and the latest QuickVPN client.
As it is, only one of the users can connect at the same time.
When one is already connected the other gets a message "the remote gateway is not responding"
Has anyone else experienced something like this ?
    Thanks in advance.

I will try with spare RV042 when I am back in Jakarta

  • OIM 11g Peoplesoft Roles provisioning issue

    Hi All,
We have configured Peoplesoft Connector 9.1.1.6 to provision roles to Peoplesoft through access policy. We are not able to provision multiple roles into Peoplesoft. It just provisions first role to user in peoplesoft and errors when provisioning the other role. The role names are matching in peoplesoft and OIM, pulled into the lookup.

  • Windows XP slow login when plugged into external network

    Hi,
A about 9 months ago XP SP3 was rolled out with an image upgrade, since then there has been rumblings of slow logins when connected to an external network (eg a ADSL modem at home) but no evidence etc.
    About the environment
    Windows XP SP3
    Novell Client 4.91 SP5 IR1
    ZENworks 7
Roaming profiles with folder redirection for Desktop, My Documents.
We have just rolled out another upgrade to a number of base apps and this has come up again but with some evidence and some time for me to investigate.
What I have discovered is this:
When a laptop is plugged into an external network (I have used an ADSL network here at work to test this) the login for a user takes about 2 minutes with SP2 and about 3.5 minutes with SP3. This is done checking the workstation only box.
    This happens consistently on workstations.
What I have done to narrow this down is as follows:
Removed ZENworks 7 agent. Login times improved dramatically
Installed older versions of ZENworks agent, all results the same, extra slow logins experienced with all versions tried.
Installed ZEN agent and removed Novell Client, still the same slow login.
Created a local user, fast logins experienced even with the ZEN agent installed.
Disabled all ZEN services and logged in with an eDir account, slow logins all the same.
Removed all policies from user and workstations, this made a slight difference but nothing much
    Disabled ZEN, no difference either
    Disabled NMAS, no difference either
Removed some IDM installer we had rolled at the same time, no difference.
    Here are the timed results.
XP with SP2 on corporate network = 30 secs
XP with SP3 on corporate network = 35 secs
XP with SP2 WS only ticked and ADSL modem plugged in = 2min
XP with SP3 WS only ticked and ADSL modem plugged in = 3min 26 secs
XP with SP3 WS only ticked and ADSL modem NOT plugged in = 45 secs
XP with SP3 local user with ADSL modem = 45 secs
So it's down to the ZEN agent really, but the update to SP3 hasn't helped either.
I enabled debug logging and got the following from the log, usernames and servers have been removed:

    OK, I'm out of Ideas.
I was hoping for something much bigger :>
You may want to post in the MS Forums in regards to the Timeout in that
    part.
I would not mention ZCM or Client32 as that will just cause pushback.
In short, there appears to be a long timeout for the redirected profile
that extends beyond just client timeout settings.
You may want to post the the Client32 Forum to see if they have anymore
    timeout tweaks.
You may be able to use the "Bad Name Cache" to pre-popate that server so
you can gain the 10 seconds w/o needing to disable the workstation service.
Perhaps the "Give Up on Requests to SAs", but I've never messed with
that before. Wait before giving up on DA may help too.
    Just guessing now.

  • Messages app not syncing after migrating to new computer

    Scratching head tonight...
Used the migration assistant to move my profile from my 2011 MBA to my new 2013 MBA
    Migration Assistant ran flawlessly (supposedly)
After completing the process, rebooted the new MBA and logged in without issue -- loaded the Messages App and the historical data is there, but nothing new is showing up on the computer
Messages sent are showing on my iPhone and are still showing in the old profile on the original MBA but not on the new MBA
Obviously the data migrated over since the historicals are there, but why would the sync break and how can I fix it?
Messages -> Preferences -> Accounts show the iMessage account enabled with all the appropriate addresses (phone number and icloud.com and me.com)
I tried logging out and logging back in to Messages as well as the iCloud -- no joy...
    Suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Mike

    Hi,
I don't have a second computer that can also run  Mountain Lion so that I could test this.
In normal circumstances if you remove the Apple ID from the iMessages account on the Mac then re-add that Apple ID you get a pop up on you iPhone and iPad when you open Messages that the computer (by Name) is using the Apple ID.
The temptation with a new computer is to create an Admin account that ends up being based on your Name which in turn creates the name for the computer (See System Preferences > Sharing).
I am not sure if issues can arise if both computers end up with the same name.

  • What on earth is going on with my connection?!

So, Infinity installed and activated on Tuesday (18/10). OR Engineer informed me I was the first to have infinity installed on the Peterborough Central (01733) exchange so whether this has contributed to the problems I am experiencing and about to enlighten you with I do not know but anyway..........
Day 1 - Installation went a treat. Engineer arrived at 2pm and was gone within the hour. Took my first BT Speedtester test @ 4pm and results were as follows:
Date                            Download       IP Profile                   Upload            IP Profile
    18/10/2011 16:00       34025 Kbps     38718 Kbps                 7757 Kbps       10000 Kbps
Internet was used up to around 11pm without any problems before I called it a night.
Day 2 - Woke up in the morning, turned on PC, opened IE9 and could not browse any pages. Just a blank screen with the little loading icon spinning in the tab at the top of the page. Thought nothing of it, went to work, came home around 7pm, turned on PC, opened IE9 and same again. Could not browse one single page. Phoned BT India, explained all the lights on my HH3/modem were working as they should and both my PC and Hub manager confirmed I was connected to the Internet. We proceeded to reset IE9, done a factory reset on the HH3, even tried my laptop (both wired and wirelsss) to see whether I could browse any pages but none of this worked. India said they would do further checks that night and call me back by 9.30pm. They never did, I accepted defeat and went to bed.
Day 3 - Woke up around 4am, decided to try IE9 and heaven above, I was able to browse the internet again! Went back to bed, got up, went to work, came home in the evening, turned on PC, opened IE9 and again all was great!!  BT Speedtester tests taken that day were as follows:
Date                            Download       IP Profile                   Upload            IP Profile
    20/10/2011 04:30       34550 Kbps     38718 Kbps                 8253 Kbps       10000 Kbps
    20/10/2011 19:05       26370 Kbps     38718 Kbps                 8010 Kbps       10000 Kbps
Day 4 (yesterday) - Turned on PC for first time at around 4:15pm and for the first 3 hours all was great. Then the **** hit the fan again and all of a sudden, whilst pages were loading, they were literally taking minutes. Some simply wouldn't load at all! Phoned India again, was informed I had a fault on my line and an engineer would contact me. BT Speedtester tests taken that day were as follows:
Date                            Download       IP Profile                   Upload            IP Profile
    21/10/2011 16:40       14462 Kbps     38718 Kbps                 4469 Kbps       10000 Kbps
    *21/10/2011 21:40      579 Kbps        38718 Kbps                 2871 Kbps       10000 Kbps
*Test taken in the midst of all the troubles.
Day 5 (today) - OR Engineer arrived at around 8.30am without prior notice. He does a line test and all was ok. He had a text message on his mobile that said I should be receiving the full 40mb down / 10mb up. I turned on PC, opened IE9 and surprise surprise all was working as it should again. Because of this, the OR did not conduct any further checks, said 'if it ain't broken don't fix it' and left! All seemed good until 3.30pm when pages were again becoming painfully slow. I again phoned India who said they'll send another engineer out to me in the morning.  Anyhow, this continued until 11.30pm (40 mins ago as I write this) when everything started to work as it should again!?! BT Speedtester tests taken today were as follows (I could not take any other tests in between as the internet was simply too slow to cope):
Date                            Download       IP Profile                   Upload            IP Profile
    22/10/2011 09:30       35671 Kbps     38718 Kbps                 8136 Kbps       10000 Kbps
    22/10/2011 12:15       35816 Kbps     38718 Kbps                 2168 Kbps       10000 Kbps
    22/10/2011 15:15       33660 Kbps     38718 Kbps                 8185 Kbps       10000 Kbps
    22/10/2011 23:35       35565 Kbps     38718 Kbps                 8228 Kbps       10000 Kbps
So what on earth is going on here?! I know it's not the PC, I don't believe it's the equipment (hardware or software).  It's like someone turns a switch on and off as and when they'd like my broadband to work?! I have practically sat at the PC for 8 straight hours trying to load pages to no avail (or at least taking far too long to load) then suddenly out of nowhere, it starts to work as normal again?!
If it's working in the morning when the engineer arrives what's he going to do? Absolutely nothing! I don't need to be Einstein to know that come the afternoon it'll go down again!
Has any of you ever experienced anything like this?  Please say you have and if so how on earth did you rectify it (assuming you have)?!
Any advice/help would be gratefully received.
    Many thanks.
    Paul

Really pleased to hear that mate, even if it isn't really the outcome you wanted.
Of course it could well be either the HH3, hub or both. Personally, I don't think it is as like I mentioned in my opening post, it's like somebody switches a button on and off as and when they want me to use broadband. Take yesterday for example, from 8.30am-3.30pm the internet was working perfectly. From 3.30pm-11.30pm, I struggled to do any browsing as pages were that slow. From 11.30pm onwards and as I write this at 7.30am, it's working perfectly again.  And I bet you now at some stage this afternoon, it will practically come to a complete standstill again.
Engineer arriving between 8am-1pm but if it all looks good, what can he do?! I need them to be here when it's not working properly. Given I'm in the 10 day training period, I've tried to use the internet as much as possible as suggested. Perhaps in my case this is having a reverse effect and slowing me down or throttling me instead?!  It has to be something between the exchange and cabinet or a fault at both as the only things that have changed my end are 1. The face plate to the master socket, 2. the HH3, 3. the modem and 4. the cables attached to both and given one minute my broadbans is fine and the next it practically stalls, I think the issue rules out any hardware/software fault.
But maybe chasing this equipment is worth a try?

  • Windows 7, RV082, QuickVPN hangs

    Hi Experts,
I have a tough one.  I have installed QuickVPN on a few systems now for an office I administer and have had relatively few issues.  I have a tough one now though.  I installed QuickVPN 1.4.1.2 on a Windows 7 system.  The connection with the router gets set, but hangs at this point:

I initially thought it was the DSL router on the client side that was the problem, but I was able to successfully vpn in using the same client version, same login/pw credentials with my laptop using the same dsl router.  I have done all kinds of research on this issue, and have come up blank.  So far, I have eliminated the Cisco RV082 router, the QuickVPN client, the DSL router on the client side, and the setup.  Obviously the problem probably lies with the actual system.  But I don't know where else to look.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Dear Friends
I wish you are fine ........ QuickVPN is very bad utility and unstable ....... I tried TheGreenBow VPN Client and it works very well ......... Here is the torrent link for software:
    http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/6673988
Also here is the link that describe the configuration between RV082 and TheGreenBow
    http://sbkb.cisco.com/CiscoSB/GetArticle.aspx?docid=95c2d48951154227ba43e7b55b76cdc3_Configuration_of_C2G_using_Greenbow_on_RV042_and_RV082.xml&pid=2&converted=0
In this configuration, You will create Tunnel for every client .......Also since the clients have dynamic IP address, Use Remote Security Gateway Type : Dynamic IP + Email address
Kindly find the below link for a summary document prepeared by me for this configuration

  • Re: 11gR2 installation on Windows 2008 R2

Does anyone tried install 11gR2 on Windows 2008R2? The installation failed during the "Grid Infrastructure Configuration". I have gone through lot of troubleshooting but seems not working.
In the installation manual, it said that we can use local administrator to install. But during the installation, it prompted a error warning with
"PRVF-9998" : User is not a domain user.
Cause: RAC Installation must be done by a domain user. Locally defined users have a different identity on each node.
Is that if my server is joined domain, I must use a domain user with local administrator group to install 11gR2 grid infrastructure?

  • QuickVPN timeout to WRVS4400N issue

I am using QuickVPN (1.4.1.2) on Win7 Pro, connecting to a WRVS4400Nv2 running the latest firmware (2.0.1.3).  After an extended time of usage (approx 45-60min - per the log below), the tunnel drops (The remote gateway is not responding.  Do you want to wait?).
I can immediately remote into my router for configuration.  I can use RDP over a port forwarded rule.  But I cannot re-establish the tunnel under the same ID, or even a different ID.  The router is unresponsive to QuickVPN for approximately 5-10 minutes - even though it accepts the other processes fine, and routes to the internet fine for office users, and protects against external attacks.
The QuickVPN LOG looks like this:
    2011/06/07 10:44:14 [STATUS]OS Version: Windows 7

After 5-10 minutes, I can reconnect to the router, for another 45-60 minutes, before I get booted again.  I thought is was firmware, since this latest firmware addresses some specific QuickVPN issues, but it has not been resolved.  Does anyone have a suggested solution for the issue?

I have very similar situation with ckunkel.
I set up WRVS4400n router and VPN settings, I can connect my outside PC to router with QuickVPN client, but after serveral times of connection or some duration of connection, router stops accepting any more VPN connection.
Only different point, I can't resolve this situation except rebooting router. Once I get router's VPN hung-up, I can't connect VPN any more without rebooting.
Router's firmware is V2.0.2.1, and QuickVPN is Ver 1.4.2.1.
This situation is veri inconvenient for our office, because once somebody outside of office starts faied VPN connection, all other staffs in office have to stop using internet, and have to wait rebooting router.
Does anyone in Cisco recognize this problem and know how to resolve this?

  • RV220W reports the remote gateway is not responding.

Hi, I've just set-up one of the RV220W VPN solutions.
This worked fine for a while, but now it reports the remote gateway is not responding.
Other clients can connect, but not the computer I'm using at home.

I've tried the most common stuff.
Enabling ICMP, checked that remote administration runs on port 443, changed MTU to 1400 manually, It allows fragmented packages too.
Checked that IKE and IPSec services are running.
I've also tried both with windows firewall ON and OFF.
A collegue of mine had the same problem in the same timeframe as me, but after a while - he suddently was able to connect.
    I still can't!!
    Firmware Version:        1.0.2.4
Anyone got a fix for this?
    Edit: IP is not real.

Ok, so I had a chat with Cisco - and it seems like the setup on the RV220W was done correctly and was working fine.
Showed me a few things that could come in handy checking out when running diag on the quickvpn.
I disabled all antivirus realtime checks, opened 443 and 500 inbound to my computer - checked that the QuickVPN.exe had an exception in the windows firewall, and that the firewall was enabled.
Also checked that the services was set tu Auto and Started.
Rebooted computer, and I was able to connect!
Now I'm working my way back to the setup I had, to figure out what went wrong in the first place.

  • Outage from October 3rd and now I have a basket ca...

Ever since BT had the major outage in Birmingham my connection is a basket case before the outage I had been perfectly fine with my speeds and connection was usually always in a 6500 profile and between 7392-7967 speeds.  I have logged the test results for the last few months in a word file due to my being upgraded to a better speed in April and went from  a 5500-6000 profile set to the aforementioned 6500....for the last few years I have always been in IP profiles that have been in jumps of 500 Kbps on the BT tester but since the outage I have had weird and unstable IP profiles:
    Normal:
    5500
    6000
    6500
    7000
example of a recent test before octber 3rd:
Sept. 27th (colors and underlines are something I do in the word pad I use so pay no attention to them! its is cut and pasted from wordpad from my logs)
Download speedachieved during the test was -
    5899Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 2000-7150 Kbps.
    Additional Information:
    Your DSL Connection Rate :
    7648 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is -
    6500Kbps
*Note I have been locked to a 6500 and occasional 7000 profile since April 2011 and before the "Upgrade" was more like a 5500 to 6000 for over 2 years...but always in jumps of 500Kbps on profiles.
Odd: (Since Outage in ever decreasing speeds as a result to)
    7337
    6659
    7138
    7026
    7337
    6352
    7061
    7146
    6662
    6210
    6041
example of the most recent test:
    Oct. 10th
Download speedachieved during the test was -
    5549Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 2000-7150 Kbps.
    Additional Information:
    Your DSL Connection Rate :
    6848Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is -
    6041Kbps
The end result has seen my speeds go from a solid 6500 (nearly a 7000 at times)profile set to dropping my speed and profile down in the days after the outage to a 6000 ish (ie latest is 6041) area with more drops to follow I fear.  Has the outage caused a fault...
As a long time reader never poster of these forums I know  it will get asked to post stats etc... I use a Linksys  which does not let me see my stats like noise etc  it was taken out in a firmware by them....I have tried the usual swapping of filters and test socket stuff  and last time I called the help centre I was talking to them for one month+ to fix my issue with a different person each time trying to explain the issues over and over. It got old fast and if that is what I will be forced to do I will just migrate from BT to Sky because I wont do the month to sort it like I had to in the past.  I have the speed test results to that show the profile has gone strange and would like it if someone would offer to check my connection for a fault...after all everything was fine until BT had its fault and my issues started from that day which makes me think it is down to that fault screwing up something...or at least someone tell me why the tester is giving me such odd IP profile results and ever dropping speeds since the outage.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This is what I was afraid of the posting stats thing...I would love to but I dont have the ability on my router and the last thing I want is to set up a new one which will cause resysncs and make even more of a profile drop...and speeds dropping for that matter.  I wont got the help line route as that was a nightmare in the past.....Just hard to swallow that everthing was fine then   "BT" had major outage and then I have a screwed up profile and speeds! Oh I thought you meant something else with the 3-5 day thing....so your thinking is it will go back to the 6000 o 6500 profile after 3-5 days or is the new 88.2 % of the connection thing permanent? As far as the outage goes did it cause many people to also drop speeds after and have multiple resysncs (and I mean many resysncs!) as it would be silly for the outage to cause poeple to lose speed and profile stability through no fault of there own.  Which is why I was hoping someone would check for a fault for my line as it seems to be outage linked for me...how else would it all go so pear shaped on the day of the BT issues.  Before it get misinterpreted I waited 7 days to see if the speeds would go back to normal and IP profles normalise with minimal disconns by me most were all on there own....BUT after yet another resync at 1:05 am last night I decided to hesitantly post my first post in hopes somebody would see that I did the right things kept a log of my tests/Profiles (with the exception of the router stats...which I cannot do)...and still see degradation over time that I have not had in Years and I have been tracking it since the last call centre fiasco...

I bought a RV120W to replace an Netgear FVS336 that was a pile of junk.  Sales and web info states this is easy to set-up and use VPN concentrator, exactly what I was looking for.
Purchased, updated to latest firmware (1.0.1.3), full factory reset to ensure it was clean before I configured and set-up VPN as per instructions.

BUT no TCP/UDP traffic is going down VPN.  In this instance the router is  giving out an IP address and a server the otherside can be pinged and  dns lookups can be performed if the DNS server at the otherside of the  VPN is manually selected.  The default DNS server given is the WAN DNS  IP address from the VPN router, this causes all client DNS lookups to  fail as the ISP at the WAN side blocks non ISP dns requests.

When accessing the RV120W remotely to check the configuration it CRASHED and did a total reset back to factory defaults FOR NO REASON when saving the IPSEC/ VPN Policies Table.  Very nice feature, requiring a hour on Skype talking a non it user through rewiring the network to connect a pc to the box to restore the backup of the config.
What do I do to get this thing working with either NOTSOQuickVPN Client/Shrew Soft or should I just RMA it as not fit for purpose?
Message was edited by: Jo Da/  additional info

    Hi Jo,
Thank you for posting. When the RV120W and the connecting client is set up correctly the QuickVPN function is very easy to use. That being said it can be tricky to get everything set up properly in the first place.
It appears from the log file that you connected successfully after enabling the Windows Firewall. If you were able to ping the remote router (RV120W LAN IP) and a remote host, then you were connected. Note that you will need to access all remote hosts by IP address unless you add them to the LMHOSTS file in Windows on the client end.
Regarding Shrewsoft, I can not explain the error. Unfortunately I have no experience with that client. I recommend that you do a web search for the error message and see what you come up with. I have no insight regarding the remote factory reset either. I have not seen that happen before. If it happens again I recommend that you call Cisco Small Business Support and ask for troubleshooting assistance.
I noticed the following sentence in the log file: "++sucessfully is ACTUALLY spelt successfully!!!!" Hopefully we can get the word "successfully" spelled correctly in the next firmware. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

  • DASH and Smooth Streaming playback on Windows 10 UAP app

    Hi,
I'm trying to playback some sample, unencrypted DASH and Smooth Streaming resources from a Windows 10 UAP application. As there isn't great amounts of documentation yet for this kind of applications, I found this...
...and tried to do so, including a MediaElement control on a basic page XAML, and trying to set the source from code behind:
    private async void setMediaElementSource()
    var adaptiveSource = await AdaptiveMediaSource.CreateFromUriAsync(new Uri("http://yt-dash-mse-test.commondatastorage.googleapis.com/media/car-20120827-manifest.mpd"));
    //var adaptiveSource = await AdaptiveMediaSource.CreateFromUriAsync(new Uri("http://video3.smoothhd.com.edgesuite.net/ondemand/Big%20Buck%20Bunny%20Adaptive.ism/Manifest"));
    //var adaptiveSource = await AdaptiveMediaSource.CreateFromUriAsync(new Uri("http://playready.directtaps.net/smoothstreaming/TTLSS720VC1/To_The_Limit_720_230.ismv"));
    MediaElement.SetMediaStreamSource(adaptiveSource.MediaSource);
But it always ends up with an Unsupported Manifest Profile exception:
I should be missing any SmoothByteStreamHandler registration or something like that, but checking with AdaptiveMediaSource.IsContentTypeSupported("application/dash+xml"), I get a true value confirming this ContentType is supported.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gorka Madariaga

    Hi Gorka,
Thanks for raising this issue to our attention.  Unfortunately after reaching out within the team, we found that we had some incorrect information posted for HTTP Live Streaming in the "What's new in Windows 10 Developer Preview" blog post.
Smooth streaming is actually not currently supported, only HLS and DASH.
For DASH support, we currently only support the "ISO Base media file format
live profile," identified by the URN "urn:mpeg:dash:profile:isoff-live:2011."
It looks like you may be attempting to play a manifest that is a "ISO Base media file format
On Demand profile," identified by the URN "urn:mpeg:dash:profile:isoff-on-demand:2011," which is currently not supported.  An unsupported manifest error will be returned if the DASH MPD does not contain the Live Profile
URN (you can have multiple URNs, and only one needs to match).
We've updated the blog post with the correct information, and we also wanted to let you know there's some additional documentation for this API
    here.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
    Regards,
    Anthony

On my Macbook pro 15, 2011, System Profiler is suggesting that it uses SATA III for the hard drive and SATA II for the Optical Drive.  Is that true?

That is correct. The tech specs indicate:

    Optical Drive Interface
3.0 or 6.0 Gbps Serial ATA (SATA)

the user default profile default PASSWORD_LIFE_TIME is 180 and password expired date is 1/7/2012. the test account was created in 7/11/2011.
Now I assign test user to test profile successfully.
However. expire date becomes 11/8/2011 1 from 1/7/2012 by select dba_users
which wrong is in my profile or somewhere?
As I think, the account password expired should be start after assigned new profile with PASSWORD_LIFE_TIME. but is seems expire date is start from original account created date.
    Thanks

Edited by: Oradb on May 24, 2012 1:56 PM

I would think the expire time would be based on the last password change time which Oracle stores in the rdbms base table for user information (user$). Find a second user, alter the password, check the expire date, then assign the user to the new profile, re-check the expiration date. Post back. Behavior may vary between releases so include full Oracle version of test.
