Video Encoder/Encoding

Is there any way to see what encoding or codec issues are
causing me not to be able to see the video when I try to encode a
file. I can watch it on my computer hwoever if I open it in the
encoder and I go to the video settings I get the black screen with
the white lettering "There is no video track found" for that file.
Help please. I use a sony dvd handycam to pull stuff off the
television and encode it into flash flv files for posting to a
site.

mac or PC. some PC's don't have the appropriate codec to view
mpg unless its being played by WMP or some other player. Since your
in flash encoder, it relies on the codecs of the computer to
display the video. If the codecs aren't there then it will show
nothing. If its a mac then I'm suprised with the problem. also is
it mpg or mpg2? mpg2 requires newer codecs most of which you have
to pay for.

  • Adobe CS6 Media Encoder encoding 4K video

When will Adobe CS6 media encoder be upgraded to process 4K video or encode into h.265?

There will be no changes to Adobe Media Encoder CS6 (6.0). That is a version that is several versions behind the current version, Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014.1 (8.1).
Regarding changes to the current version:
You can make feature requests here.

  • Do i need to let the video finish encoding before i burn?

I want to burn a dvd in idvd.  I know it begins to encode while you're still working on the dvd, but if i finsh editing the dvd and it hasnt been fully encoded in the project info tab, can i just burn it and encoding will hapen durig the burn or do i have to wait til encoding is done.

    Hi
Burn - will cont. the encoding process - Can not burn until calculated.
BUT - There is another more recommended way to do this - as problems can occur
    • Start in iDVD when Lay-out/Menus and all is done WITH - Save as a DiskImage
    • Test this (when calculated) - with DVD-tool to see that all menus plays as intended and all Chapters starts where they are supposed to do etc.
    • Then either
    - Let iDVD burn (will do a re-calculation = takes much time) - or -
    - Burn the .img by using - Disk Util tool - Will make a DVD-copy and need no re-calculating
BUT - both in iDVD and Disk Util tool - SET down Burn speed to x2 or x4 to get a much better DVD (less burn errors)
To get best possibly result (to me) I do
    • use Verbatim DVDs - Cheap brands usually works for Data-DVD - BUT NOT AS Video-DVDs
    • DVD-R - as they play on more and even older DVD-players (never DVD+/-RW)

  • Audio is 1 frame longer than video after encode

My .ac3 files are coming up 1 frame longer than they should be on SOME encodes. Unfortunately, I can't see any noticeable pattern to which files it happens to. It occurs on anything from audio-only files created in Soundtrack to an FCP video/audio export. It's happened on both a DV sequence as well as a DVCPRO HD sequence. It's a bit unnerving to see the audio longer than the video, even if it is one frame because the end product is slightly (1 frame, I'd reckon) out of sync. I've tried setting a specific out point in my sequence and got the same effect.
Does anyone have any ideas? Anyone else having their audio come up 1 frame too long on a Dolby encode?
    Thanks,
    Cameron

Anyone else having their audio come up 1 frame too long on a Dolby encode?
    Yes.
The rest is longwinded with no answer to the problem.
    First the system config.
    Dual 1.8 GHz PCI-X G5
    4 GB Ram
Media drive: 800 GB Raid FW 800
(4 discs, 2 on internal bus, 2 on LaCie FW 800 card)
    162 MB/s Read, 91 MB/s Write.
    FCP 5.1.2
    Compressor 2.3
    DVD SP 4.1.1
    I created a 16 minute NTSC DVC PRO50 sequence, audio at 48KHz 16 bit.
Not having a person recorded talking for that length of time I created a series of one frame "pops" of color bars and tone, followed by 10 seconds of video and audio slug.
This sequence was copied and pasted to fill the timeline with a single frame of the "pop" at the very end.
    Everything perfectly in sync.
I nested the sequence and rendered.
No matter how the 16 minute timeline was exported and compressed to MPEG-2, 7 Mb/s and Dolby 2.0 192 Kb/s.
(direct export to Compressor, export of audio and video separately or sequence export, then to Compressor)
there was always an audio sync error once imported to the DVD SP timeline.
Not an entire frame out, but on zooming to max in the timeline in SP, about 7/8 of a frame extra.
If I exported just the last 1:21 min of the NTSC DVC PRO50 timeline, and compressed with the same settings, the extra audio length was about 3/4 of a frame over.
Next I exported the NTSC DVC PRO50 timeline as a DVCPRO HD100 1080 60i QT sequence.
Cut the last 1:21 min and imported to Compressor.
    Compressed as 19 MB/s MPEG-2 and Dolby 2.0 192 Kb/s.
Created a new DVD SP HD project and brought the files into the timeline.
Zoomed in at the end, and the error in sync was minimal, not perfect, but difficult to make out even at full zoom.
Anyone have any suggestions to get things, at least Standard Definition, perfectly in sync?

  • Video\Audio encoding in Java

    Hi,
I need to write an application that will convert videos to different formats. Like: mov to mp4, flv to mp4, etc
Anybody know of java classes\libraries I could use to implement this?
    Thanks!

How can I in the java class DYNAMICALLY set up the encoding so that the sysytem at the runtime will acccept the Cyrillic characters. Nonsensical. Java strings are unicode. Always. If you have a java string and you pass it to a java method it remains a java string.
And the Cyrillic characters are mapped into unicode. So a java string can certainly contain them.
Your problem probably lies either in getting Cyrillic into the string or setting up the "display" so it get displayed.
You first step should be in understanding that there is a difference between data (such as what is in a string) and display (what you see on a screen.) Data is always mapped when displayed. Understanding how that mapping occurs is important.

  • HT203180 Video Podcast Encoded with lavf53.0.3

So I tried to convert these for iPod from the advanced menu in itunes and an error occurred trying to convert them.  It was an unknow error (-11821).  Can anyone tell me what this is and how to convert it?

I'd like to try to get it right w/ Premiere so i can
avoid the extra step of QT PRO. That would also add
another layer of compression, degrading video
    quality, wouldn't it?
I'm woefully unfamiliar with Premiere. But a Google search showed me that there's an export option to iPod settings. With Final Cut Pro you can export your finished sequence using QuickTime settings, and by choosing to Export to iPod you've got a direct encode from the FCP timeline to iPod-compatible MPEG-4/H.264. Premiere seems like it can do something similar - just one step, no extra layer of compression.

  • About adobe video rander encoder!!!!

    Hi,everyone
I have a big question about encoder,it confuse me.
I want to make a red title on white bakcground, and I use H264 encoder as commonly used.
The final video seems like the title have a shadow or bevel ,it looks like 3D, but what I want is flat effect.
    Here the screenshot below.
1.preview in AE,the edge between two colors is clean .
2.preview of video with quicktime animation,There are some shadows about 1pixel at the edge between two colors.
3.preview of video with quicktime H264,become worst!
Is anyone knows how to do? Is it a unsolvable technical problem?Help me pls!!!

You're running into low color-subsamping and minmal luma contrast. That is, the colors are highly saturated and change abruptly from one hue to another, but the luma values aren't that much different. That is pretty much worst-case for a highly compressed format like H.264.
Try reducing the saturation of your colors. If the problem is specifically red-on-white, try reducing the saturation of the red and also reducing the brightness of the white. You can also try a slight horizontal blur prior to compression. None of that will eliminate the problem, but may make it a lot more acceptable. You'll be surprised at how much you can desaturate the red with it still looking "bright red" on your final LED display device.
(Highly saturated, bright red is the worst color there is in terms of artifacts in highly-compressed codecs, although fluorescent orange safety vests and traffic cones may be worse.)

  • Exporting video in Encoder from Premiere locks up at very end

I'm new to Premiere and Media Encoder, but for the past two days, I've tried multiple times to edit a video in Premiere and export the trimmed video via the Encoder "Queue" option.  The big problem comes at the end of the process, where the status bar continues to say, "Remaining: 00:00:01" and never changes, even when I leave it alone for up to half an hour.  As a result, I'm unable to do anything with my trimmed video.  Can anyone offer any tips on how to fix this?

Some video exports require muxing.  Basically video and audio import and they get separated and at the very end, they get muxed back together.  for some formats, this happens at the end of the export and it may look like the encode is frozen at the end, but muxing is taking place.  We are in process of adding progress bar for those special cases.  This may be what you are seeing.  Keep track of how long the encode takes, if it takes 30 min, let it sit there at the end for another 30 minutes or even an hour see if the encode finally finishes.
Another thing you can do is to export to other formats and preset and see if that finishes.  Please let us know what export preset works and what hangs at the end.

  • Resume Media Encoder Encoding Video ?

Hi, we made a 3 hour wedding video of a client which has LOOKS 2-3 layers and the encoding showed estimated as 18 hours left.
Now after 18 hours, I see it was closing in and was 98% done.
Just there was a voltage fluctuation and the computer shut off.
The media encoder now when opened shows the file as STOPPED.
Isn't there a way to RESUME it ?
I Bought Premiere Pro CC subscription for this single reason only.
If it doesnt, then I lost my 20 hours or encoding and computer power and electricity and also my waiting time for the client.
Lastly I will end up closing the subscription and using a bad copy of CS6, if this paid software doesnt help me in my need.

PSU and UPS both are there, still it got switched off due to a power fluctuation.
The point is, there must be a way to rcover and resume a encoder project.
Why is there not a way to do it ?
It simply says STOPPED and no way to resume it.
    Damn.

  • Blocky video after encoding AVI

Hi there, I encoded an AVI of pretty good almost DVD quality, after encoding the AVI to a DVD using IDVD 6, the video is blocky around the edges....
Why is this? IDVD does not have any advanced features allowing you to play with the encoder settings so i don't what to do...
If I were to convert the AVI to MPEG2 using another application and then re-burn my DVD, would IDVD automatically skip the encoding process as I would be using a DVD MPEG2 format???
Anyone know of any other decent apps for making DVD's?
Thanks for the help, I truly appreciate it.

GIGO does not apply in this case
    I bet it does...
the AVI was only 1hr 45min so it's not too long
...and what was the file size in MB? Note that if it were in DV video format, the file size would have been about 21 GB - I'll bet your AVI file was very highly compressed and no where near this file size.
What was the on-screen image size? Many AVI files I've seen use the old MPG-1 size of 320x240 pixels - just 1/4 the size of the image iDVD expects to see.
Maybe DVD studio pro is the answer i'm looking for!!
iDVD uses the same Compressor application that DVD SP does.

  • Same video footage encoded with different audio tracks (localization)?

Hi All, thanks for your time first of all.
Let me explain the issue I have; there are 5 video files and  10 audio files for each of them. That means I need to encode in total 50 videos. I can do this by hand, the video and audio files are the same length, so it would just means swapping one out for the other and encoding again...
But I was wondering if it was possible to automate this process? Let's say take the video footage and render is out with Audio1, then render it out with Audio2 and so forth.  Is this something that is possible with AME or in Premiere or any other Adobe package?
I hope I explained this well enough, if not, please let me know!
    Thanks.
    -Woody

You can add the video footage to a sequence, then add the first audio clip.  Set up your export and hit the Queue button.  That will send the sequence as it exists then to the Adobe Media Encoder.
Go back to that sequence, remove the first audio file and add in the second.  Do another export.  Your settings should be the same so you can just hit the Queue button.  This ads another item to the list in AME, but this one is a snapshot of the sequence with the second audio.
Repeat as necessary, all using the same sequence.  (Trust me, it'll work.)
Go into Adobe Media Encoder and start the encoding.

  • Audio disappears from video once encoded

I have a DV NTSC sequence that I want to encode as an flv file. The original video is from MiniDV. When I export the sequence as a quicktime movie, the sound plays fine. When I re-encode it as a .flv file, there is no audio.
Below are all the things I've tried to fix the problem, which have not worked...
I tried using Sorenson Squeeze, MPEG Streamclip & DVKitchen to encode the file.
I tried exporting the audio track as an AIFF, then re-imported it (replacing the audio track with the AIFF).
I output the sequence to MiniDV, digitized, exported and encoded.
Re-digitized footage from the master into a new project
I am using Final Cut version 5.0.1
PS- I have been encoding similar videos successfully for 6 months now. This is the only time I've had this problem.

Since this tends to happen to me when sequences get (mildly) corrupt, have you tried using another sequence? Not necessarily duplicating, but creating a new sequence then copy-paste the contents from the old one? 9 times of out 10, that clears this hurdle.
Or was that one of the steps you tried?

  • Limewire videos and encoding

i download vids from limewire but when i encode it and then try to update again, its still the same, what am i doing wrong?
for encoders i use videora and Imtoo

If you are using videora, try to look in the folder / directory on which you installed your videora. By default it is located in your program files. From program files look for "Videora" then go to "videos" folder. All of your converted movie files goes to this folder by default.
Or you can do a search on your hard drives for files with extension .mp4
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes video re-encoding

Does anyone know if there's a way to re-encode/decript videos purchased from the iTunes music store into other formats that are not protected?

Snapz Pro X can copy the video into quicktime that you can use in any app in Mac, usually creats a larger file size though. Also, must do start and stop like recording analog. Retitle when saving etc. A lot of steps. There is other software that you could do a search through "Downloads" to find that might cut out more of the steps to automate the process better.

  • Video format/encoding in Apps

    Hello,
i try to build a video learning app. And this will be my first app with the media framework, so i'm not familar with that stuff.
The iOS devices has many different screen resolutions and i wanna have the best result on each device.
So i have to find out:
    - which video codec i should use.
    - should i deliver video files for each resolution? i think there are 4 diffrent resolutions
    - is is better to deliver a special app for the iPad because the video files are much bigger?
I have so many questions an try to find out which is the best way to do the job.
I know that this is not much input but i'm at the beginning and looking for best practice scenarios. I hope my english is not so bad that you cant understand what i need.

You should use H.264 for the codec. It's probably the most standard codec you'll find in Apple systems and beyond.
About the resolutions, you'll probably don't need to care much about that. As long as you have a decent resolution, your video should scale well on any device. But, if you really want the best resolution for each device you should look at Apple specs for each device.
For instance, the iPhone 3GS supports 480p, while the iPhone 4 supports 720p, and the iPhone 4S goes up to 1080p. Both iPads should support 1080p.
