View Command/Query Without Connection?

I need to reverse engineer an old report so that I can reconstruct it using a new database.  The report used the Command feature, and I am fairly certain the fields being called into the report are not renamed, but I need to see which tables were used - how can I view the query without setting up a connection to the database?  (There are over 100 tables in the current database, with many replications of field names, so they are insufficient in determining the need - the old database is no longer in existence, and there was no data dictionary for it, so I cannot access it or recreate it).
CR wants me to create a connection or log in before I can view the query, and I'm not finding a way around that ...
Any ideas?
thanks!

I had already tried that before posting - CR "fixes" things to correlate with a new database, so the query bound to another database that is similar (if I had access to one, which I don't) would be altered to reflect the new database.
The entire purpose of trying to get the query is to get the table names used in the original/missing database, and that's what I can't figure out how to do.  CR is requiring a logon to a database before allowing me to view the query that was typed in, but in so doing the query is altered.

Need free OST viewer tool to help to view OST files without connecting to MS Exchange Server and MS Outlook.

    Hi Howard,
As I know, Microsoft does not provide any kind of inbuilt tool or free software to only view OST file, even without the connectivity with exchange server (Offline).
Try SysTools OST Viewer freeware which helps you to view all OST file save at your system in an easy way, whether you want to see the attachments or other items of OST file.
Note: This is a free inbuilt utility, but try it on your own risk as I am not much aware about it and its working. But this tool sounds good according to your requirement and hopefully it would give you 100% satisfaction.

    Hi mrnotia
Do you mean by this that you don't want to use a GPRS connection so that assisted GPS feature will not work, as provided internal GPS is enabled it will still lock onto satellites albeit more slowly unless outside?
If you have access to a WLAN this can always be the chosen access point if you want.
If you have downloaded regional maps you can use the "*" and "#" keys to zoom in/out and the cursor to traverse maps.

    Hi Frank,
This query which fetches a data set to a report... So when executing this query in the report I will need to have a sql expression something like below...
    select *
    from MY_VIEW
    where vehicle.vehicle_id = '&Vehicle_Id'
When the above is run user will be asked to insert a vehicle id and that will be the user input for my sql statement... (I inserted the value 120 here just for the testing purpose). In here I will need to create a view (something like MY_VIEW which consist of the entire sql expression) as long sql expressions are not supported in our tool. So I have to compile a view with the results set without the connect by clause...
Just let me know if it is still not clear..
    Thanks

  • ProC - sqlcheck=semantics without connection to a database - handling views

    Hello!
I have a question about ProC and embedded SQL. I'm not sure if this falls under
the OCCI umbrella but when I originally posted my question to the SQL forum I
was directed to the OCCI forum. My apologies if my question is off-topic here as well.
We would like to run ProC with sqlcheck=semantics without connecting to a database..
To do this we insert an
    EXEC SQL INCLUDE definitions.pc;
in each of our source files containing embedded sql. The file definitions.pc contains
a set of statements of the form "EXEC SQL DECLARE xxx TABLE ( .... );".
This file is generated from another file containing "CREATE TABLE" statements.
This seems to work, if our embedded SQL does not agree with the table definitions
    in definitions.pc then ProC complains.
We would now like to get semantic checking for embedded SQL that refers to views
but are unsure how to achieve this. There does not seem to be a statement
    "EXEC SQL DECLARE xxxx VIEW".
One way to do this would be to add a fake "EXEC SQL DECLARE xxx TABLE"
statement to definitions.pc for each view in the database. Writing a tool that translates
a set of "CREATE TABLE" into a set of "EXEC SQL DECLARE TABLE" is easy, but
translating "CREATE VIEW" into a corresponding faked "EXEX SQL DECLARE xxx TABLE"
    seems much harder.
Is there a way to achieve semantic checking of embedded SQL that refers to views
without connecting to a database or without writing a tool that parses full "create view"
    statements?
    Thanks,
    Lars

I'm not sure if this falls under the OCCI umbrellaOnly in the same way that questions about chalk fall under the cheese umbrella.
Pro*C and OCCI are different subjects.
We would like to run ProC with sqlcheck=semantics without connecting to a database.Sorry, that's impossible; it's a direct contradiction. sqlcheck=semantics REQUIRES a connection to the database, otherwise the SQLCHECK cannot check the SEMANTICS; to do that it needs to connect to the database.
If you cannot connect to a database then you can't use sqlcheck=semantics, which in turn means you can't use embedded PL/SQL.
However you can use Dynamic PL/SQL, which means you have the PL/SQL in a character string and explicitly code what Pro*C does for you automatically. There are very few changes needed to accomplish this, and no change in performance as what you would be doing explicitly in code is exactly the same as what Pro*C does for you in the background; the only difference is syntactic sugar.
If code changes are impossible and you must have a database, then you will have to install one on the development machine and load into it the objects that Pro*C needs to check in order to complete the semantic check. What isn't checked is that the database at precompile time is the same as the database at runtime, so this is a valid solution.

  • Executing commands without connecting to a specified database

    Hello...
I want to create a new database using some sql commands
I already have the commands, the problem is that I need to send these commands to the Oracle itself (without connecting to a specified database, the same as the SQL*PLUS /NOLOG option)
I tried many variations of connection strings, but non of them works (whenever I tried connecting to the main machine, I got the obvious error: ORA-12504: TNS:listener was not given the SERVICE_NAME in CONNECT_DATA)
how can I connect directly to the main Oracle?
(until now, our product worked with sqlserver, which has the "master" db integrated, and all commands can be performed through it... as far as I know, oracle doesn't have something like this)
    thanks in advance
    Nissim

I think you should ask your dba to give you the sid first.
and he should create the schema/user to connect to.
or you can ask him to give you system password to create a user and grant it permission.
then only you can connect to the oracle.
now after connecting to the oracle you have the database script(sqlserver and oracle syntax is little different).
you can say database in sqlserver is equivalant to schema in oracle.

    Dear Gurus,
We are facing error while generating form 16 through portal and getting the below error in portal.
Screen output without connection to user.    error key: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE
When we checked for dumps in R/3 the following dump is coming:
    DYNPRO_SEND_IN_BACKGROUND with error message :
    Message class : FPRUNX
Message number: 102: No job started.
Then we tried to execute the form 16 through R/3 itself using tcode PC00_M40_F16 after putting in the relevant values in the selection screen and then press on PRINT FORM button, but surprisingly the system logs out without giving any error or dump.
We tried doing it repeatedly and once in these attempts we got an error saying Initialization of font server module failed.
We are not getting clue as to why this is happening. <<Text removed>>

    Hi JayJT,
The Miscellaneous is located in the contact list that you used for the connection.
So , you need to edit the page, then edit the contact list that you used, in the web part properties of the contact list, you will find Miscellaneous, then expand it and select ‘Server Render’ .
    I hope this helps.

    I try describe it again.
If I logon via SAPlogon with russian language in RSA1 I can see descriptions of objects for russian lang (and new objects which I will create will be with russian description if I enter it). In portal (rsplan) in personality I set russian language ang get the russian interface BUT it get descriptions for ENG and in this way I can't see any descriptions - only technical name because all objects was created with russian lang. So, what I need to do for get russian descriptions of objects in portal?
And another trouble - when I create object (for example - aggregation level) in portal then I can't see descriptions of it in RSA1.
And from this I have another question too. How I can (if it possible) use english interface and russian descriptions of objects in both portal and SAPLogon?

  • How can i fetch records from 3 tables in a single query  without using join

    Hi.
Can any body please tell me <b>How can i fetch records from 3 tables with a single query  without using joins</b>
    Thanx
    prabhudutta

    Hi Prabgudutta,
We can fetch the data by using the views concept.
Go throuth this info we can know the how to create view and same like database table only we can fetch the data.
Views conatin the data at runtime only.
Four different view types are supported. These differ in the
way in which the view is implemented and in the methods
permitted for accessing the view data.
Database views are implemented with an equivalent view on
    the database.
Projection views are used to hide fields of a table (only
    projection).
Help views can be used as selection method in search helps.
Maintenance views permit you to maintain the data
    distributed
on several tables for one application object at one time.
step by step creation of Maintenance view:
With the help of the table maintenance generator, you are able to maintain the ENTRIES of the table in SM30 transaction.
It can be set in transaction SE11 - Tools - Table maintenance generator.
Table maintanance Generator is used to manually input values using transaction sm30
    follow below steps
    1) go to se11 check table maintanance check box under attributes tab
    2) utilities-table maintanance Generator-> create function group and assign it under
function group input box. Also assign authorization group default &NC& .
    3) select standard recording routine radio in table table mainitainence generator to move table
contents to quality and production by assigning it to request.
    4) select maintaience type as single step.
    5) maintainence screen as system generated numbers this dialog box appears when you click on create button
    6) save and activate table
One step, two step in Table Maintenance Generator
Single step: Only overview screen is created i.e. the Table Maintenance Program will have only one screen where you can add, delete or edit records.
Two step: Two screens namely the overview screen and Single screen are created. The user can see the key fields in the first screen and can further go on to edit further details.
SM30 is used for table maintenance(addition or deletion of records),
For all the tables in SE11 for which Table maintenance is selected , they can be maintained in SM30
Sm30 is used to maintain the table ,i.e to delete ,insert or modify the field values and all..
It creates the maintenance screen for u for the aprticular table as the maintenance is not allowed for the table..
In the SE11 delivery and maintenance tab, keep the maintenance allowed..
Then come to the SM30 and then enter the table name and press maintain..,
Give the authorization group if necessary and give the function group and then select maintenance type as one step and give the screen numbers as system specified..
    Then create,,,
Then u will able to see the maintenance view for the table in which u can able to insert and delete the table values...
We use SM30 transaction for entering values into any DB table.
First we create a table in SE11 and create the table maintenance generator for that Table using (utilities-> table maintenance generator) and create it.
Then it will create a View.
After that from SM30, enter the table name and Maintain, create new entries, change the existing entries for that table.
    Hope this resolves your query.
    Reward all the helpful answers.

  • Looping a query without cursor

    Hi everybody
i want to know that is there is any way by which we can loop through Resultset of a query without using cursor for loop in plsql
    vipul

    No. Reason:
Any SQL statement in PL/SQL is a cursor. Any rows "obtained" from a cursor, is fetched via a read-cursor-loop mechanism.
This can be an explicit cursor, where you open the cursor and manually code the loop with the FETCH statement.
It can be an implicit cursor, where you simply code something like [SELECT col INTO var FROM table] - in which case PL/SQL still creates a cursor and still uses a cursor fetch to read the result of that cursor.
PL/SQL is no different than Java or Delphi or C in this aspect. It takes a SQL statement and deliver that to the SQL Engine. The SQL Engine deals with SQL statements as cursors. It returns a cursor handle to the caller. The caller then has to fetch the rows from the cursor.
What makes PL/SQL different is that the PL/SQL language and compiler integrates so tightly with SQL, that you can mix two different programming languages in the same source code. Unlike Java, Delpi and C, you can code native SQL inside your PL/SQL code. The PL/SQL compiler is clever enough to know what it can execute, and which source lines are SQL that need to be "wrapped and delivered" to the SQL Engine.
Question though - why do you ask for another method? What do you view as a problem with using a cursor loop to fetch rows?

  • How can I view iTunes charges without having iTunes?

How can I view iTunes charges without having iTunes?
Unless you have iTunes installed. I cannot find a way to see details about charges to my account.
I understand that a confirmation email is sent after each charge, but unfortunately I delete those.
Apple has to implement an easier way for people to track details of charges without the need of iTunes, since most people do not connect or depend anymore of iTunes and only use (OTA) for registration, updates, iCloud restore, etc.

Sorry, but other than the receipts, the only way to view the dates and costs of a purchase are by using iTunes ona  computer. If you want to make suggestions to Apple regarding a different method, you can use their feedback pages:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
Those people who do not arrange access to iTunes are taking a big risk with their purchases, since without backing up to iTunes on your computer you're at the mercy of the app and content owners who can remove items at any time. This has happened on numerous occasions, and if that happens, redownloading that item will no longer be possible, leaving you with no recourse should you inadvertently or deliberately remove the item from your iOS device.

  • How to design a query without using Net Weaver Query Designer

Does anyone know if any alternative way to <b>design an query without using Net weaver GUI</b>? in order to reduce the time consuming, I am wondering if there have any method which can define/modify a stack of cells, characteristics and structures without work through the GUI.
Deeply thank for any of your advices.

    Can you give an example?
Just from what you write, I would assume that you talk about something like a mass-property-changer. As far as I know the BEx this is not really possible, but what I do normally is building one query and then either using query-views (saving more or less the navigation state) or by copying and changing the properties of the few characteristics and key figures.
But without a specific example it's difficult to exactly understand what you exactly need.
