View Links? What do they offer?

I'm new to BC4J and I may be misunderstanding what view
links are for but it seems to me that I can accomplish
the same thing with a View Object.
What I mean is:
It seems that the main purpose of View Links is to join View
Objects.
Why join the Views when you can join the Entity Objects in a View
Object.

Athough there are some indications that Apple is expanding the AppleTV product line (and have added a number of apps to it over the last few months), until such time as an official annoucement is made, no one here would be able to tell you what is in store (this is a user-to-user forum).
If you think Roku serves your needs better, perhaps that is what you should purchase.

  • Apple vs roku.(what do they offer?)

    When will Apple add more channels and content to Apple TV? I'm starting to regret my purchase and wishing I would have gone with the roku instead. I know I can use air play with my other devices,but  that is not always convenient and I really don't want to have to use my phone or ipad every time I want to watch content that is not available on Apple TV. I love my apple products,but Apple is really slacking when it comes to their  TV streaming device. I'm looking to cut down on my expenses,and roku has everything that's on Apple TV + hundreds and hundreds of paid AND FREE channels to offer to satisfy a wide variety of interests for people of all ages and backgrounds and you don't have to fork out a single cent. Plus they support Amazon Prime.Sorry Apple:-( . I haven't made the switch yet,but I will be purchasing another streaming device soon for the bedroom and I'm hoping to stay true to Apple.

    You should be able to change the permissions on the files.. this is yet another bungle by Mavericks I suspect.

  • ADF BC: both ID and view link object as getter/setter in row impl

    I notice something when generating the row implementation of VO that have links to other VO. I can't seem to find the logic behind it...
    Following model:
    users( id, address_id,name,firstname,...)
    address(id, street,number,...)
    their is an assosiation between the UsersEO and the addressEO. Their is also a view link between the UsersVO and the AddressVO based upon the assosiation of the EO's.
    When we create the row implementation of the UsersVO we find a getter and setter for both the address_id as well as the address row object.
    Why is this?
    We have this issue because i added the UsersVO and the addressVO to the app module but i haven't added the link to the appModule but when i create the SDO from the appModule, the Users has both the address_id as the address row object.
    THis does not seem to make sense. How do you use it correctly? Do you just need to set the address_id and can leave the row object null or do they both need to have the same? What if you set the address_id to 1 but the id in the address row object is set to 5...
    How do the databindings handle these things?
    To me it seems more logical that the VO only has a getter and setter for the address object and handles the address_id in the background according to the values in the address object.
    Can someone explain me why this is implemented this way and how to handle it correctly?

    Why is this? The definition of the VL allows you to optionally generate accessors for the underliying VOs, i.e. getAddressVO() in the UsersVO and getUsersVO() in the addressVO.
    We have this issue because i added the UsersVO and the addressVO to the app module but i haven't added the link to the appModule but when i create the SDO from the appModule, the Users has both the address_id as the address row object. You should add the addressVO to the AM using the VL instead and not by itself.

    As mentioned above, once you add the addressVO to AM using the VL, the framework will take care setting the value of the row objects accordingly.

  • Bug in view link creation

    Here's an interesting bug in JDev 9.0.3.1, Win2k:
    I'm working with a view link using the Edit View Link dialog. It links two view objects, ViewA and ViewB, in a 1:* relationship. Entities EntityA and EntityB are the respective underliers of ViewA and ViewB. Under the View Link Properties node in the dialog, the only accessor generated is for the Destination view object.
    When I click OK, the column constants at the top of EntityA.java become messed up!!
    To be specific, all of the accessor column constants defined on the entity object are removed and then re-defined one line above the beginning of the column constants declaration section. They also are renumbered starting with zero, which causes them to have the same value as the first n column constant definitions. Naturally, this causes a "duplicate case label" compile error for the EntityA.java file.
    Even worse is if the column constant definitions start on the same line as the opening brace for the class, like so:
    public class EntityAImpl extends EntityImpl
    { protected static final int COLUMN_1 = 0;
    protected static final int COLUMN_2 = 1;
    // etc.
    The effect of clicking OK in the Edit View Link dialog is then to produce a ParseException error as the dialog is dismissed. Looking at the EntityA.java file, it's clear why:
    public class EntityAImpl extends EntityImpl
    protected static final int ACCESSOR_1 = 0;
    protected static final int ACCESSOR_2 = 1;
    // etc.
    { protected static final int COLUMN_1 = 0;
    protected static final int COLUMN_2 = 1;
    // etc.
    What puzzles me is:
    * Why is the entity object being affected at all, since the accessor was only supposed to be generated in ViewA?
    * Why are all the accessors being removed and re-added, even those that have nothing to do with the view link being edited?
    * Why, when the accessors are re-added, are the constant values duplicated?

    Please send a test case. I'm unable to reproduce this in a simple project in 9.0.3.1 or 9.0.3.2.
    Is there entity inheritance involved?
    Do your entity XML files mention _superAttr anywhere in them? If so, you might be hitting a known issue with 9.0.3 relating to entity inheritance at design time and the accessor attributes.

  • Create view link programatically

    Hi all,
    I am working on this weird requirement.
    Basically, I have to create a detail table on a search resullt table. The search result is seeded search, for Item Advance search in Oracle PIM module which is not based upon a VO. The search result table is dynamically built at run time in the EgoItemSearchHelper class and that's where they build the search result VO (EgoItemSearchResultsVO).
    Now, I need to access this VO in the controller class, and create a view link programatically between details table VO and this VO. The problem is since I do not have Impl class for the EgoItemSearchResultsVO, how do I accees the column that is the key attribute. Second I do not know how to create view link between the two VOs programatically.
    Please help it's urgent.
    Thanks

    Pratap, My problem is the seeded VO is in seeded AM and my details VO will be in my custom AM, I don't know if we can have a view link between View objects that are in different AMs.
    To bypass that problem, I tried to create a VO in the seeded AM programatically and then created a view link. Now since the AM is seeded, and I am adding my details VO to this AM programatically, I thought of creating a table also programatically on the detais VO.
    In the end it does not work, I end up getting a show button on the main table, but when I click I get an error (Cannot find <null> attribute in the EOGITEMSEARCHRESULTVO) which is the seeded VO class. Unfortunately there is no boolean variable on the dynamic seeded VO, so don't know what to put in oatablebean.setDetailViewAttributeName("") method;
    Any clues on this, appreciate all responses from the forum gurus.
    ViewObject voEmp = oaapplicationmodule.createViewObject("MyEmp", "xxuss.oracle.apps.ego.item.eu.server.DetailsOrderLinesVO");
    ViewObject voEmp = am.createViewObject("MyEmp", "xxuss.oracle.apps.ego.item.eu.server.DetailsOrderLinesVO");
    AttributeDef[] prjLinkAttrs = new AttributeDef[]{oaapplicationmodule.findViewObject("EgoItemSearchResultsVO").findAttributeDef("INVENTORY_ITEM_ID_B")};
    System.out.println("definition for attr = "+ prjLinkAttrs[0]);
    AttributeDef[] taskLinkAttrs = new AttributeDef[]{voEmp.findAttributeDef("InvId") };
    ViewLink vl = am.createViewLinkBetweenViewObjects("MyLink3",
    "DetailInv", // accessor name--more on this below
    am.findViewObject("EgoItemSearchResultsVO"), // master
    prjLinkAttrs, // department attributes
    voEmp, // detail
    taskLinkAttrs, // employee attributes
    null); // assoc clause
    System.out.println("view link =" + vl.getName());
    OATableBean tb = (OATableBean)createWebBean(oapagecontext,TABLE_BEAN,null,"table");
    tb.setViewUsageName("MyEmp");
    OAMessageStyledTextBean beans = (OAMessageStyledTextBean)createWebBean(oapagecontext,MESSAGE_STYLED_TEXT_BEAN,OAWebBeanConstants.VARCHAR2_DATATYPE,"number");
    beans.setPrompt("column1");
    beans.setViewUsageName("MyEmp");
    beans.setViewAttributeName("InvId");
    tb.addIndexedChild(beans);
    oatablebean.setDetail((OAWebBean)tb);
    oatablebean.setDetailViewAttributeName("SelectFlag"); // I just tried this, SelectFlag is not a boolean attribute though, is there a way to create a boolean attribute programatically for seeded VO EGOITEMSEARCHRESULTVO and set it here, will it help
    oatablebean.setAllDetailsEnabled(true);

  • View link between VO from two application modules

    Is it possible to create view link between VOs from 2 different Application modules?

    Here is what it says:
    SymptomsYou have an ADF BC (BC4J) project and you are getting the following error:
    oracle.jbo.domain.Number; local class incompatibleA more detailed error looks similar to:
    oracle.jbo.domain.Number; local class incompatible: stream classdesc
    serialVersionUID = -7171468674200794918, local class serialVersionUID =
    -6507359405709672486
    CauseThis problem is caused by either that:
    You have inadvertently mixed two mutually exclusive domain libraries like "BC4J Generic Domains" (bc4jdomgnrc.jar) and "BC4J Oracle Domains" (bc4jdomorcl.jar).
    or
    You have added the "BC4J Datum" library (bc4jdatum.jar) to your middle-tier class path, and are trying to use a JDBC driver different from the one that ships with JDeveloper 10g in the box.
    The BC4J Generic Domains and the BC4J Oracle Domains are never meant to be used in the same application classpath. They contain different implementations of the same set of classes, one destined for use in Oracle JDBC driver environments, and the other for use with other non-Oracle JDBC drivers.
    The BC4J Datum library is designed for use in a thin-client Classpath that is remotely accessing an ADF Business Components middle tier deployed as an EJB Session bean. It contains only the domain classes (typically jar'ed up as part of the whole Oracle JDBC Driver JAR) without having to have the rest of the JDBC Driver JAR on the thin client. SolutionPlease check if any of the above suggested scenarios is applicable to your application.
    If you have the BC4J Generic Domains and the BC4J Oracle Domains in the same project despite that they are never meant to be used in the same application classpath you will get this error. They contain different implementations of the same set of classes, one destined for use in Oracle JDBC driver environments, and the other for use with other non-Oracle JDBC drivers.
    Goto the Project Properties for you project.
    Select Profiles -> <Profile Name> -> Libraries
    Check in the Selected list (to the right) if you have both BC4J Generic Domains and the BC4J Oracle Domains there. If so, remove the one not appropriate for your project.

  • [ADF-11.1.2] Dynamic EO/VO/Association/View Link/pagedef/JSPX XML Def files

    I though I found gold but it has nothing when I clicked on it.
    Steve Muench's "Not Yet Documented Examples" [http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/resource/examples] > "Using ViewObject writeXML and JSTL XML Tag Library" suppose to provide the example. but I am getting File not found error. Seems the sample application doesn't exists any more.
    Please point me to correct example for my following use case:
    At Run-time:
    1. My Application will ask user for database table name.
    2. for provided database table name, my application should Generate XML Definition file for EO, Associations, VO and View Links inside Model Project (basically all definition file should be created which gets created when developer create these Business Components for database table through JDeveloper Studio).
    3. Once done, application should also generate JSPX file using ADF page template in ViewController Project, with binding definition to it's corresponding newly generated VO Objects from step 2.
    4. The page will be then, visible to user to use it (create/update/delete records)
    First of all, is it possible to achieve above requirement ? Based on description of Steve Muench's "Using ViewObject writeXML and JSTL XML Tag Library", I think it is possible, but I don't have the sample application to refer.
    I could have used dynamic view object concept to display the records with basic page layout. But I want users the ability to modify the create/records/delete the records with following requirements:
    1. If require, Business Logic Developer can use Jdeveloper Studio to access new generated Business Components and modify it (like adding some validation rules)
    2. If require, UI Developer can access newly generated JSPX file and change the layout.
    Please let me know how much and how can I achieve it ?

    Shay,
    Thank you for your reply. I will take a look at your links.
    Use Case:
    Application will have different BC for different IT Assets (like Monitor, Keyboard, Servers etc), which will basically hold records for all available Assets (like Display Resolution, screen size etc for all monitor in Monitor BC).
    I want to give user; the ability to create, for e.g., the sub-class of Monitor to store more specific attribute-values in different table (which will be linked Parent BC). For e.g.: They may want to care about holding CRT and LCD Monitor records in separate new database table -- Application will ask user what all attributes/Columns they want to see for LCD which is specific to this type AND which is not present in already existing out-of-box Monitor BC/Table - e.g. - "Viewing Angle" Attribute).
    With that said, I can write code to create database table on fly (having 1-to-1 foreign key reference to parent table) but writing ADF part seems difficult. I also wanted application to automatically generate new page for newly added VO BC. E.g.: LCD-Monitor.JSPX inheriting all attributes from monitor (parent VO) in the same structure as Monitor.JSPX file is having with extra LCD-specific Attributes in separate panel tab (which again UI developers can customized it).
    Too much to expect huh !
    I am going to start building the application so If not above way, any other suggestion to achieve the requirement ?

  • Looking for a 'view link target source' context menu item

    I'm looking for a 'view link target source' context menu item.
    I often open listings of servers' directories; they can include direct links to code files (*.py , *.pl, etc). When I click them directly, I'm asked to open them with an external editor which is not what I want to do; I want to view those files source inside of Firefox. I currently have to
    # right-click those links,
    # copy link location,
    # type "view-source:" in the Location bar,
    # paste the copied URL,
    # click Go.
    This gets time-consuming with the large amount of URLs I need to open.
    It's not a native feature for Firefox and a search at [http://addons.mozilla.org AMO] didn't come up with anything useful, for me at least.

    Hello,
    particularly, I performed the following steps:
    1. I created a SC in the local repository, which matches the SC of the track.
    2. I moved the exisiting DCs to the SC created in step 1.
    3. Now, I created new DCs in the SC in the track.
    4. I deleted all .project files from the local DCs.
    5. I copied all source files from the local DCs to the new track DCs.
    6. I checked-in these changes to the track.
    Kind regards
    Alexander

  • Problem trying to access Detail VO via View Link  - Req/Distributions

    Hi,
    I'm attempting to access a detail VO using a View Link accessor. I'm not sure if I'm approaching this the right way, but here is what I am doing:
    oaAcctVORowImpl = (PoRequisitionLinesVORowImpl)aaAcctVO.getRowAtRangeIndex(q);
    RowIterator distRS = oaAcctVORowImpl.getPoReqDistributionsVO();
    No rows are returned although I am expecting rows.
    The getPoReqDistributionsVO is the accessor method of the Destination on the View Link (i.e. the detail VO).
    under oracle\apps\icx\por\req\server

  • DetailVO via View Link Results in "No Results Found"

    I have a MasterVO with two detail VO's; Detail1VO and Detail2VO.  A page contains an advanced table region bound to the MasterVO with a detail region bound to Detail1VO and another advanced table region as a sibling of the MasterVO advanced table region bound to the Detail2VO.  The data is displayed as expected for the MasterVO and Detail1VO but the region bound to Detail2VO displayes "No results found".
    The AM tester form shows that all of the relationships work as expected.  So I see the Detail2VO data as it relates to the MasterVO data.  It's just in the page where the Detail2VO data is not displayed.
    Does anyone know why the Detail2VO would not display the associated MasterVO data?  It seems to me it may have something to do with the page components since it works as expected in the AM test form.  Does a detail bound advanced table region always need to be placed in an advanced table's detail region?
    Thank you

    Thank you for your response to my request for help.  However, I'm not sure I understand your directions.  Are you saying that for the second detail VO table region I should set the properties for Detail View Attribute and View Link Instance?  Or are you saying that I need to ensure that these properties are set on the master table region which is where they are presently both set.  But both of my detail VO table regions only have their View Link Instance property set and do not have their Detail View Attribute property set while the Master VO table does have its Detail View Attribute property set.  But the Master VO can only have one detail table.
    What I have done so far to provide both sets of detail records tied to the master is to create a new region for the second detail table that is outside of the master table's advanced table bean.  Since OAF is not providing the records in the detail table that is defined outside of the master VO advanced table I have manually defined the logic to query the second detail VO in the page's controller.
    Here is the page layout.  Hopefully the formatting remains.

  • [SOLVED] Multiple Dynamic View Objects and View Links - ADF Tree Table

    Hi all,
    I've got a method that creates 3 dynamic viewobjects using this:
                ViewDefImpl Level1ViewDef = new ViewDefImpl("Level1View");
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("LevelDescription","LEVEL1_DESCRIPTION",String.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("SetOfBooksId","SET_OF_BOOKS_ID",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("CodeCombinationId","CODE_COMBINATION_ID",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("Level1","LEVEL1",String.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("AccountType","ACCOUNT_TYPE",String.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("PeriodYear","PERIOD_YEAR",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("PeriodNum","PERIOD_NUM",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("PeriodName","PERIOD_NAME",String.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("PtdActual","PTD_ACTUAL",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("YtdActual","YTD_ACTUAL",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("LtdActual","LTD_ACTUAL",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("BudgetName","BUDGET_NAME",String.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("BudgetVersionId","BUDGET_VERSION_ID",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("PtdBudget","PTD_BUDGET",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("YtdBudget","YTD_BUDGET",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("LtdBudget","LTD_BUDGET",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("EncumbranceType","ENCUMBRANCE_TYPE",String.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("EncumbranceTypeId","ENCUMBRANCE_TYPE_ID",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("PtdCommitment","PTD_COMMITMENT",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("YtdCommitment","YTD_COMMITMENT",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.addViewAttribute("LtdCommitment","LTD_COMMITMENT",Number.class);
                Level1ViewDef.setQuery(sql_level1);
                Level1ViewDef.setFullSql(true);
                Level1ViewDef.setBindingStyle(SQLBuilder.BINDING_STYLE_ORACLE_NAME);
                Level1ViewDef.resolveDefObject();
                Level1ViewDef.registerDefObject();
                ViewObject vo1 = createViewObject("Level1View",Level1ViewDef);I can create the view objects fine and create a single viewlink between two of them, however i'm getting problems with 2 view links.
    This is how I'm creating a view link:
                ViewLink Level2Level1FKLink = createViewLinkBetweenViewObjects("Level2Level1FKLink1",
                                                        "Level2View",
                                                        vo1,
                                                        new AttributeDef[]{
                                                          vo1.findAttributeDef("Level1")
                                                        vo2,
                                                        new AttributeDef[]{
                                                          vo2.findAttributeDef("Level1")
                                                        "LEVEL1 = :Bind_Level1");
                ViewLink Level3Level2FKLink = createViewLinkBetweenViewObjects("Level3Level2FKLink1",
                                                        "Level3View",
                                                        vo2,
                                                        new AttributeDef[]{
                                                          vo2.findAttributeDef("Level2")
                                                        vo3,
                                                        new AttributeDef[]{
                                                          vo3.findAttributeDef("Level2")
                                                        "LEVEL2 = :Bind_Level2");I can get the data to display on an adf tree table if i'm only using a single view link, but when i try and implement 2 view link (for 3 levels on the adf tree table) i'm getting problems displaying the data.
    I'm getting the following error:
    Aug 10, 2007 2:44:39 PM oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.renderkit.core.xhtml.PanelPartialRootRenderer encodeAll
    SEVERE: Error during partial-page rendering
    oracle.jbo.NoDefException: JBO-25058: Definition Level3View of type Attribute not found in Level2View_Level2Level1FKLink1_Level2ViewThe thing is, Level3View isn't in the Level2Level1FKLink viewlink.
    I've been reading about something similar here
    BC4J Master-Detail-Detail
    but I am still unsure of what the problem is.
    Thanks in advance.

  • View objects, view links, does not search properly

    Hi,
    I am using Jdev 11.1.2.0
    I have created a search criteria based on view objects and view links. It has entities and entity associations as base. The structure is as follow:
    vo1 ->vl (1 to 1) - > vo2
    ->vl ( 1 to many) -> vo3
    Any search attribute which is not from vo1 return bad result. It happens in running app module and in the jspx page. In app module, it sometimes complains about populating the wrong attribute for the named criteria.
    The search criteria is using "exists" statement for vo2 and vo3 for adding the conditions. It has many attributes within the exist statement.
    So what is the problem. Why it does not join properly? Why does it return bad result when search attribute is from vo2 and vo3? Please help.
    Any more information requires to solve the problem?
    Thanks,
    Arthur

    Hi,
    Two more information: vo1 is composed of Entity1 (1..M) Entity2 and Entity1 (1..1) Entity 3. vo2 is composed of Entity 2 and vo3 is composed of Entity 4.
    I follow the information from http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E16162_01/web.1112/e16182/bcquerying.htm#BCGIFHHF
    to create the search criteria.
