Viewing Discussion Forum in public group space

Hi all,
I have the following requirement:
a) let anonymous users visit a group space and
b) let them view discussion forum content inside that space.
I can enter the group space as anonymous user, but the Discussions Forum portlet tells me I'm not authoritzed to view this portlet.
How can I make this work?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Write a dummy custom Identity Asserter/Authentication Provider and create a Weblogic subject for anonymous users so that weblogic knows that it is a authorized user and then it will let it do what a logged in user can do.
Thanks

    Welcome to the National Instruments NI VeriStand discussion forum. This group is intended to provide a discussion forum for developers and engineers
    using National Instruments NI VeriStand. Through the ni.com support site, this forum and other online tools, you have the opportunity to obtain
    information and examples about NI VeriStand and to ask question to help you in creating Real-Time test applications using NI VeriStand.
    In addition to answering current questions it provides a mechanism for recording this information and allowing new developers to browse the history
    of the group for information that has already been discussed.
    While this is not a direct support channel administrated by the NI Applications Engineering group, it gives you the tools to help and support each other (with some assistance from NI Applications Engineers if needed). You may also use this forum to provide feedback and information to NI about the needs for support and for new features.

    Hello Ravens Fan,
    I would definitely encourage you and others interested to check out ni.com/veristand which has some more detailed explanation, as this software does many things that are difficult to cover in a short post.
    NI VeriStand is a software which helps users to configure and run a Real-Time test application.  This includes Hardware-in-the-Loop testing and model based control in a more configuration based environment than if you were to program this directly, in LabVIEW for instance.  It has many built in features to control timing, data communication, setup your Real-Time target configuration and more.  It is a standalone application, but has many ways to be customized to extend the software capabilities.
    The Getting Started with NI VeriStand page has some demonstration videos which are a great way to get some more insight into this product.
    I hope this helps, feel free to try it out as that really is the best way to better understand the software.

  • "Printer view" in discussion forums

    It would be very convenient to have a "Printer view" in the discussion forums, like in the Articles. That way you would be able to actually see the text on the paper.

    When using Safari 2.0.3 on many discussion forums,
    "High ASCII" characters such as greek letters and
    mathematical symbols will not display in my posts. I
    wonder what could be the problem, because if I type
    the same characters in Camino, they display properly
    in my posts.
    Many discussion forums use a Latin-1 encoding. This means the browser must convert anything above ascii into numerical references like & #12345;. Mozilla-type browsers do this, but Safari does not. Forums intended to accomodate Greek or Math should use UTF-8, like this one does.

  • Off topic - set "Discussions" as default view in forum?

    Since the forum update the default view is "Trending discussions". I prefer to see the full list of discussions, but don't see an option for that. I get there by clicking on a "trending discussion" and then on the "Discussions" bread crumb menu. How do I go directly to "Discussions"?

    r, Larry, S, Scott,
    To set discussions as default is a thing of the past.
    The only way to have it is to Bookmark (or whatever it is called in your preferred browser) it.
    You still have the even more outdated option of 100 threads per page if you use this full URL (for your Bookmark):
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/illustrator/illustrator_general?view=discussions#/?per_p age=100
    The crucial part,
    ?view=discussions#/?per_page=100
    can be added to the Discussion page of any forum, so you can (use the Bookmark and) have it all back.

  • Is there any way to programmatically get the discussion forum Id using API

    Hi,
    Can any one let me know how to get and set the Discussion service forum Id / category Id to the discussion task flow programmatically using services API's. Here I am using Web center groupspace API's to create and add members to group space from my fusion app. Added the discussion task flow to my fusion app and need to set the category Id / forum Id assigned to that groupspace and display the corresponding discussions. The test connections to discussion forum is success. I am getting all the forums corresponding to that user in my ui. But I want to get the forum that is associated with my groupspace.
    thanks.

    Never mind. Got the solution, can get this through servicesMetaData api.

  • Replacing Home Space with a specific Group Space.

    Hi,
    We have a Webcenter Spaces 11.8 environment.
    We are trying to completely bypass the home space and take the user to a specific space.
    While this is possible to do it through the initial redirection based on application/enterprise role, some re-directions are causing the user to land in the home space.
    Also, the user can get to the home space pages by typing in the url. We want to restrict the user from viewing the home space altogether and replace it completely with our group space.
    Approach1 : Page Links -
    We tried to bring in pages from the group space into the home space navigation model as page links. Even if the group space is public, we cannot link to its pages as we cannot see the pages in the page link popup. Only home space pages are shown. Is this expected? How do we bring in pages from a specific group space into the home page navigation?
    Approach 2: Group Space Pages Query -
    We can bring all the pages from the "Default Navigation Model" of the group space into the home space navigation model. However, the landing page upon login needs to be a visible page in the home space. How do we get the user redirected to a specific page in a group space and make that node as selected once the user logs in.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Check this code.

  • Discussion forum layout could be improved

    In each discussion forum, topics are listed a fixed box nested inside several frames surrounded by white space.
    For example, although Numbers forum has 1,911 topics, with default settings only 15 topics are listed in a 9.2" diagonal box, in the center of my 24" screen. Below the list, I am invited to click through 128 screens to see all 1,911 topics, one screen at a time. (The list length can grow to 50 by editing settings while logged on; I did not see how to do this when viewing the list.)
    Suggestions:
    1. allow scrolling through topics within the list view
    2. allow topic list frame width to scale with the window
    Can a discussion thread view be expanded?
    I hope this is an appropriate comment for this area. Thank you for listening.
    L Jones

    The width of the frame containing a topic's text (incl. scroll bar) is approx. 800 px. This is pretty standard practice on pages with one column of content.
    Even a site like the New York Times', which is five columns wide, has a max width of approx 975 px, with the main body of content and links contained within 625 px.
    A 24" screen is great for many things, but it brings no particular benefit when it comes to viewing web pages at standard resolutions, because most pages are designed with smaller displays and handheld devices (e.g. the iPhone) in mind.

    Hi,
    User Account Control treats members of the Administrators group as standard users.
    With UAC enabled, members of the local Administrators group run with the same access token as standard users. Only when a member of the local Administrators group gives approval can a process use the administrator’s full access token. This process is the
    basis of the principle of Admin Approval Mode.
    When an administrator logs on to Windows Vista or newer, the Local Security Authority (LSA) creates two access tokens. If LSA is notified that the user is a member of the Administrators group, LSA creates the second logon that has the administrator rights
    removed (filtered).
    To work around this issue, use the net use command together with a UNC name to access the network location.
    Programs may be unable to access some network locations after you turn on User Account Control in Windows Vista or newer operating systems

  • Integrated Solutions Java Discussion Forum

    Hi
    Here's some feedback on the above portlet. We have installed the forum in a separate OC4J container on 10g. It installed without any problems and is working correctly through Portal apart from the following.
    We are experiencing problems wth refreshing.
    a. If you reply to a thread the reply is placed second last on the page. You have to exit and re-enter the portlet before the lastest thread is displayed at the bottom of the page.
    b. Similar problem. Two users are accessing the forum. First user creates a new reply to a thread. The second user accesses the forum/topic and can see that the number of replies are correct but on accessing the thread cannot see the latest thread. They have to exit and re-enter the portlet before the new thread is viewable.
    In general users of the discussion forum may find it useful if security on the Portlet was enhanced to allow security to be attached to Products to allow Products to be public to all users or private to a group of users. The search would also required to be amended to only bring back forum information that the user has access to.

    I've filed enhancements request for all the suggestion you provided. The development team should consider them in future enhancements.

  • Where do I view discussions which I have participated in?

    Where do I view discussions which I have participated in? They aren't listed with the ones that I started myself.

    Hi, Timothy -
    You can also set up your own personalized homepage which will show that information.
    To do that, click the large-face "Apple Support Communities" legend at the top of this page. You'll be taken to the site's generic homepage.
    Then click the tab Your View. You'll be shown a different array of things. On that tab is a small "personalize" link - click it, and you'll be taken to the setup area for Your View.
    Ignore the Layout choices for right now.
    The basic means of adding a widget (a section on the page) is to use the hierarchical menus in the blue area near the top to get the one you want displayed in the right-hand space of that area. Once it is displaying there, grab the green box and drag it down into the lower area - the background will highlight a pale green indicating where you can drop/place that item.
    To get rid of a widget already placed - click the small reveal triangle in the widget's header, and choose 'Remove this widget'.
    I would suggest getting rid of the section Recent Content and replacing it with Your Content or with Watch A User  - both of those are accessed via the Content item in the menus. Both of those show pretty much the same thing provided you set Watch A User to watch you. Both will display all discussions (threads) you've posted in, whether it is a discussion you started or one you added a reply to. They are shown in chronological order based on recent activity in that discussion by anyone, most recent on top. How many are displayed depends on how you set the pref for that widget.
    You can use the Edit This Widget choice in a widget's reveal triangle menu to set things like number of items to be shown, etc.
    Once you've got things set up the way you want them for the moment, click the Publish button.
    You can fiddle with how things look to your heart's content. Even after you've got Your View set up the way you like it, you can try out different things. If you don't like the way they look, just click the Discard Changes button and you'll be returned to the last arrangement you published.
    If you want that personalized page to appear anytime you go to the forum homepage link, after publishing your personalized page and with the Your View tab active, click the 'set as default tab' link just to the right of that tab.

  • Special Character in Subject Field of Discussion Forum

    I am creating a new discussion, in the subject when i enter "Portal Discussion?" then it gives error that special character is not allowed. But i want to use the "?" in the subject at the time of creation.
    After creating the discussion i can edit the same thing with special characters, then why SharePoint is not allowing to enter special character at the time of creation.

    Hi
    Refer this link
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/6e7a7eae-26fc-467f-bfdc-7c5d5ff49a95/discussion-forum-storing-special-character-in-title-differently?forum=sharepointdevelopmentlegacy
    It seems that SharePoint will allow the Title of the discussion board to remain with the special characters, but the actual URL will not be allowed and will strip them from the final URL.  SharePoint Manager easily shows this, btw.
    So, there are probably many different ways to get what you are looking for, but one way could be to have a Linq query look for all Discussion Boards on a given site and then return the Title and the DefaultViewUrl, which the latter could then be prefixed by
    the SPWeb.Url to give you something like "Testing? , /" for the title and http://mysite/Lists/Testing/AllItems.aspx (assuming
    that is the actual default view) which you could then use as the final URL for your hyperlink in your web part.
    In the code snippet below you can see the Linq query (which I assumed from your post that you need to query to find the Discussion Boards) and a simple DataTable that you could then use to populate a repeater or you just omit the DataTable and
    enumerate the results from the query yourself:
    var linqResults
    = from list in oSPWeb.Lists.Cast<SPList>() where list.BaseTemplate
    == SPListTemplateType.DiscussionBoardselect list;
    DataTable oDataTable
    = new DataTable();
    DataColumn oDataColumn_Title
    = new DataColumn("Title", typeof(string));
    oDataTable.Columns.Add(oDataColumn_Title);
    DataColumn oDataColumn_URL
    = new DataColumn("URL", typeof(string));
    oDataTable.Columns.Add(oDataColumn_URL);
    foreach (SPList oSPList in linqResults)
    DataRow oDataRow
    = oDataTable.NewRow();
    oDataRow[
    "Title"]
    = oSPList.Title.ToString();
    oDataRow[
    "URL"]
    = oSPWeb.Url + oSPList.DefaultViewUrl.ToString();
    oDataTable.Rows.Add(oDataRow);
    oDataTable.AcceptChanges();
