VO running a select all query
Hi,
Hope that this is a simple q. I have a few VO's customised in iproc receipting. What is happening from the search page is that one VO (so far), when utilised is running a query against all lines in a table and seeming to ignore the parameters that are passed to it from the calling page. diagnostics show the req header id been passed in to the AM init query and execute, but yet it still seems to run a select * from table;
The caveat is that the page the vo is launched from is navigated to via back and forwards buttons and click on the requisition link in the receipting page. Any ideas appreciated.
Your only options is using .net code, then it will be no different than using a console app in a loop.
using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(connectionString))
connection.Open();
Console.WriteLine("ServerVersion: {0}", connection.ServerVersion);
Console.WriteLine("State: {0}", connection.State);
and so forth for each connection string
the connection string would come from the ForEach loop

2.1.0.62 EA - In Result Query tab - Cannot select all data (ctrl-a)
Oracle SQL Developer 2.1.0.62 EA
Java(TM) Platform 1.6.0_16
Windows XP SP3
I cannot select all of the data from the Result Query tab using ctrl-a. I have 1.5.5 running on the same system and I can select all of the data from the results tab.
DennisWorksheet, Object Viewer & Reports would get the fix.
The ObjectViewer & Reports would continue using the modal task progress dialog.
The worksheet's grid would have the toolbar progress component and also uses the Task Progress dockable.
No plans to change the current scheme.

"Select All" option in Multiselect Query Filter
Hi,
Is there a way to select all values in a multiselect filter option in a query. currently i have created a variable or a mandatory filter which allows me to select all values one by one and then move it to right side, but its very painful option in certain cases where in i need to select all values. Is there a way where in one can select all values with a single click in Query Filter in Web Analyzer.
Thanks
Akila. RHi,
You can give range values in the Query designer.
You can include variable selection where user can enter the selections with their own selections.
Let us know if you still have any issues.

Select all fields of a table while designing the layout of a query
Can some one tell me how to select all fields of a table at a single stroke while designing the layout of a query....this would greatly reduce the time spent to select each and every field of a table into the layout....
Thanks in advanceHi,
Declare your internal table (Say it is itab).
Then :-
Select * from <tablename>.
Eg,.Select * from mara.
Then display it using:-
Loop at itab.
write:/ wa_itab. "Workarea.
endloop.
Thanks and regards,

Do i have to select all the key figures when i design a query off of a cube
Do i have to select all the key figures when i design a query off of a cube? i have three keyfigures on the top of the three keyfigures it says calculated keyfigure. kind of lost dont know what to do. please let me know.
Thanks!
YorkNo, you have to select at least one.
Calculated keyfigure (CKF) means it's a formula of two or more other keyfigures. You can select, right-mouse click, display properties and you see how it is composed.
Under calculated keyfigures you see all available keyfigures of the infoprovider you build the query on. Just move them by drag-and drop from the left to the right into the columns.
You can have also restricted keyfigures (RKF). This means a keyfigure is restricted by one or more characterstics and their values.
Hope you got an idea.

SQL query problem: how tp select all duplication in the table?
Hi all,
I have a table with the following columns:
1. contact_id
2. fname
3. lname
4. email
The email column must be unique (unfortunately it's not); therefore, I have to delete all duplication in the system.
Question: how can I select all duplication in the table?
I tried this...didn't work (I'm expecting only the emails that are duplicated)
THANK YOU!
SELECT distinct TC1.email, TC1.contact_ID FROM ta_contacts AS TC1 where TC1.email <>'' AND TC1.email not in ( SELECT distinct TC2.email FROM ta_contacts AS TC2 where TC2.email <>'' )Sounds like an SQL and not a JDBC question. In any case, if a column needs to be unique, then you should, of course, designate a unique constraint on the table so you never end up with duplicates in the first place.

How do I select all albums in a genre for playback on an iphone 5 running ios7?
In IOS 6 on my iphone, I was able to swipe down and get a screen that allowed me to select all albums and swipe again and select all songs within the genre. I cannot seem to find this function in IOS 7. Does it exist?
Mary,
Unfortunately, there is no direct way to exclude an album from search results and combine that with other search criteria. (The search facilities of PSE have a lot of such sloppiness in their detailed design.)
But heres a workaround: In the Organize pane, select the Disney Dec 2008 album, so only those photos are showing. Select all of them and assign them a new temporary tag Temp. Then click Show All, select the Disney 2008 tag, and right-click the Temp tag and select Exclude Photos. -
How to get resultset from procedure having dynamic select sql query ?
Hi,
I have created a procedure, in which there is dynamic select query. The procedure has one out put parameter which gives error code. When I compile that procedure it compiles successufully. When I run it it executes successfully and gives output error code. But I don't know how to get resultset of that dynamic select sql query. I need that.
This is the procedure:

Bug? 4.0 EA1 Can't select all in Script Output window
This seems to be a small bug. Open a worksheet and enter any query. Run as a script (F5) and the output appears in the Script Output window. Click in the Script Output window to give it focus and type Ctrl-A to select all the output. The text selected is actually the contents of the worksheet, not the output. Right-clicking in the Script Output window also has no effect. It looks like the Script Output window can't actually gain focus?
This is a bit trivial, but was annoying when I was trying to move some data over to Excel using a /*csv*/ type query.for tracking this is logged as bug 17164225

Selecting all columns makes oracle use more indexes than only selectng one?
I have 3 queries here that differ only slightly, conceptually, but the plans are massively different. What I cant work out is that the difference is only in the select list.. The fields referenced in the where clause are properly indexed for this purpose
SELECT
scc.expiry_date
FROM
bw3.int_file_log_details ifld
INNER JOIN
bw3.svc_card_status_change scsc
USING
(institution_number, file_number)
INNER JOIN bw3.svc_client_cards scc
USING
(card_number)
WHERE
institution_number = '00000001' AND
file_number = '00002504'This one above does a full table scan of SCC, over 3.5 million records
SELECT
card_number
FROM
bw3.int_file_log_details ifld
INNER JOIN
bw3.svc_card_status_change scsc
USING
(institution_number, file_number)
INNER JOIN bw3.svc_client_cards scc
USING
(card_number)
WHERE
institution_number = '00000001' AND
file_number = '00002504'This one above does an index fast full scan of SCC's pk (which is cardnumber), as does doing a "SELECT null as dummy FROM..."
SELECT
FROM
bw3.int_file_log_details ifld
INNER JOIN
bw3.svc_card_status_change scsc
USING
(institution_number, file_number)
INNER JOIN bw3.svc_client_cards scc
USING
(card_number)
WHERE
institution_number = '00000001' AND
file_number = '00002504'This one above does the index range scan of the columns mentioned in the where clause and two index unique scans to link in IFLD and SCC (because they are joined on their PKs)
I would expect all queries to run this way and completes in ~0.01 seconds
Now, I get that oracle will sometimes use only an index instead of a table access when the requested data can be got from the index, but the actual query is pulling data from some columns not in indexes, so must be accessed in the table:
SELECT
scsc.card_prod_data as "Field1",
substr(card_number,1,4)||' '||
substr(card_number,5,4)||' '||
substr(card_number,9,4)||' '||
substr(card_number,13,4)||' '||
substr(card_number,17) as "Field2",
' ' as "Field3",
scc.emboss_line_1 as "Field4",
scc.emboss_line_2 as "Field5",
TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(scc.last_issued_date, 'YYYYMMDD'), 'MM/YY ')||
TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(scc.expiry_date, 'YYYYMMDD'), 'MM/YY ')||
' ' as "Field6",
'B'||
card_number||
'^'||
RPAD('0', 27, ' ')||
'^'||
to_char(to_date(scc.expiry_date, 'YYYYMMDD'), 'YYMM')||
service_category_code||
'000000000000' as "Field7",
card_number||
'='||
to_char(to_date(scc.expiry_date, 'YYYYMMDD'), 'YYMM')||
service_category_code||
'000000000000' as "Field8",
card_number as "Field9",
scsc.cvv_cvc2 as "Field10"
FROM
bw3.int_file_log_details ifld
INNER JOIN
bw3.svc_card_status_change scsc
USING
(institution_number, file_number)
INNER JOIN bw3.svc_client_cards scc
USING
(card_number)
WHERE
institution_number = '00000001' AND
file_number = '00002504'This query above, which uses some data from all tables, does a table full scan of SCC, yet if I SELECT * FROM.. I get the expected index usage and table access by index rowid for all tables..
Why is oracle doing an FTS when I choose only some columns, yet doing index access when I select * ?
Edited by: charred on Oct 5, 2010 11:37 AMSelectivity of indexes?
For a query linking these tables:
int_file_log_details <-> svc_card_status_change <-> svc_client_cards
I'm expecting Oracle to:
Use an index range scan of the index on svc_card_status_change that is a nonunique index of institution_number and file number. Selectivity of this index is:
1 institution number in the entire table
59 distinct file numbers in the entire table
4.1million records in the entire table
From there, with the records it found, to use index unique scan of the PKs of int_file_log_details (file_number: 1 record required) and PK of svc_client_cards (card_number: poetntially thousands of records required)
I can understand if oracle might decide it can get 69k records out of 4.1 million faster by FTS the cards table rather than having the indirection of the index... what I cannot understand is:
If I select all the data from the query (SELECT *) it does unique index scans for the 2 records
If I select say, only one non-indexed non-joined column from each table, oracle prefers a FTS of the cards table..
Is oracle not realising that there are only 2 records I need out of cards? Why would select * differ? Is it that oracle thinks "select * is a large amount of data, so it'll be faster to use the index and target certain rows" vs "select one_column can be garnered more quickly by scanning the table and generating a lower overall memory load" ? -
Selecting all hierarchy nodes in the report
Hi Friends,
In my report I have a Hierarchy 0ORGUNIT, there are a few sub nodes under this hierarchy.
When the user runs the report if they want to see all the nodes under a top node, they have to expand each node till the last node and select them one by one.
My question is, is it possible to select all the sub nodes under a node just by selecting the top node?.
If yes can someone please let me know how to do this?.
I did check the sdn, but could get anything.
Thanks in adv.
Regards
BNHi,
You can do that for the initial display i.e. the very first time you execute the query but once you collapse all the nodes you will not be able to expand all the nodes with one click.
For showing different levels in the first display go to the characteristic properties on which you have hierarchy maintained, in the hierarchy properties section set the option 'Expand to Level' and hierarchy will be expaned for all the nodes till the level you select.

Hi ,
Based on this link i have implemented this logic....
http://bischool.wordpress.com/2009/08/26/avoid-running-report-for-all-values-on-dashboard-when-using-multi-select-prompt/
But for the intermediate report its taking more time to run...nearly 4min...is there any way to reduce it.
Thankshi User,
Quick question
Why you are giving (-1) value's as per the doc we can give any value which has to give no results? Have u tried to give some other value ?
Next,Do u have left outer joins between those tables? If yes you should face the same problem with the main report because the filters to be same as intermediate report am i right ?
First tune-up the rpd and get the main report query ,run-it over DB
Due to huge data and the join taking more time....is there way any thing to add to reduce the time??Huge data ?? Intermediate report will not get any results i think it will not take more time to give a message,but due to join conditions only it is taking long time to run
Note :Before getting value from DB it will check the where condition( joins)

where updt_ts > sysdate
Now in the above table if any record is modified then the UPDT_TS will be updated with sysdate.
And every morning an ETL job runs to identify the changes in the above table, While for changes only one record is updated with the Updt_ts. But the requirement is to write a select Query which would select all siblings for any change in the Updt_ts for a given CUSTID. Please let anyone need more information.
The select query returns only 1 record with ITEM_ID = 3434h, but requirement is it shoud return all siblings associate with cust_id 1025Hi,
Thanks for posting the sample data; that's very helpful.
Don't forget to post the exact results you want from that data, and explain how you get those results from that data.
See the forum FAQ: https://forums.oracle.com/message/9362002
Define any special terms you use in the explanation, such as "sibling". How can you tell if 2 given rows are siblings or not?
If being a sibling means having the same cust_id, then maybe:
SELECT *
FROM SALES
WHERE cust_id IN (
SELECT cust_id
FROM sales
WHERE updt_ts > SYSDATE
Of course, if updt_ts is always set to SYSDATE when a row is modified, then updt_ts > SYSDATE will never be TRUE in a query run later (unless you're resetting the clock on the database server). -
Provider Speicifc Properties on MultiCube and constant Selection in Query
Hi Experts
I are using BI 7.0, just upgraded to SP24 and having an issue with a MultiPrvider. All of this worked great before the upgrade. Here are the symptoms I am experiencing. This MultiCube has 2 InfoObjects where "Provider-Specific Properties" are set with a constant value.
1) If I display data on MultiCube I can only get consistent results if I chose for "Field Selection for Output" and select All SID fields. If I don't get any results if SID fields are not selected for display.
2) Query on on MultiCube has a Res. Key Fig. using constant selection on Infoprovider plus other Infoobjects. When I execute I get a dump with errors Brain 222 ( referencing the 2 objects that are set as constant on MultiCube, as well as Brain 635 . I have researched both have not yet found anything helpful. Query does execute if I take off the constant select on Infoprovider but then don't get results I want.
I have tried to re-activate MultiCube. I got warnings on CMP error and inconsistency and messages R7I 114, R7I 127 but activation was successful.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks so much.Can you try log out and re-login??
As well when you display DATA, first of all
1. it ask you select necessary field before you go for FIELD OUTPUR FOR SELECTION
2. Overthere in SELECTION top menu, SELECT the second SELECTION menu, and select option "SELECT CHARACTERISTICS" which is the first one.
3. THen enter
4. now you go to the screen for FIELD OUTPUT FOR SELECTION, in that Select 4th option "SELECT ALL CHARACTERISTICS"
and then execute..
just give a try..
not sure how far it helps..
May i know the restriction which stops you running the query..?
try the constant selection on only one object and try...

Hello all,
Can you please tell me how can I see the total running time for a query?
What other transactions besides ST03 and RSRT with statistics on?
Points will be assigned
Thanks
RamonaHi........
You can use ST03N -> BW System Load
Depending on the time frame you select, you get historical data or
current data.
To get to a specific query you need to drill down using the InfoCube
name
Use Aggregation Query to get more runtime information about a
single query. Use tab All data to get to the details.
(DB, OLAP, and Frontend time, plus Select/ Transferred records,
plus number of cells and formats)
Also You can get it in RSRT,RSRTQ...
