Voice recognition creates text twice over RDP connection

Using an IPad 3 to connect to a Windows 7 Pro desktop and text repeats each time using voice recognition to create text in Outlook or Word. It only creates text one time locally. Just happens over RDP.
Any suggestions?

Rus, I've had similar issues on my iPhone 5. I was having issues that some people on my contact list just weren't getting my texts. I could text them before I got the iPhone and they received them no problem but now it wouldn't go through. Like you the phone said it went through but they never received them. I could receive their texts and even if I replied to their texts, they didn't receive it. I could call them though. I contacted Verizon and Apple but they we no help. What I figured out on my own was that if I deleted their contact from my address book and added it back in fresh, the problem was solved. It's happened to me with 4 different people that were in my contacts already and I deleted them and added them back in and it works fine now. What I believe was happening was I came from a non-smartphone. To transfer my contacts over I downloaded Verizon's contact transfer app on my old phone and uploaded them to it. When my new iPhone 5 came in I downloaded the same app and used it to transfer my contacts to my new phone. I think some of them got corrupted for some reason during the process. I don't know for sure if this is what was happening but since non of the new contacts that I added in after I got the iPhone have any problems I'm guessing I'm right. My concern still is that I will continue to find people in my address book that wont' get my texts and I just won't know it for sure. Good luck!

  • Creating DB Link over HS connection

    Hi Marc,
As promised here is procedure to setup DB link on 8.1.7(to non-Oracle). Maybe I am including some unecessary steps. In this example I will be connecting to sql db named RedRing
    1. From sys run $Oracle_Home/rdbms/admin/caths.sql
    2. edit init.ora & set Global_Names = false
this will allow you to set db link names to anything you like
    3. Setup your ODBC connections using Microsoft ODBC Administrator (or other)
    4. edit $Oracle_Home/network/ADMIN/sqlnet.ora set NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN = world
You may skip this step but remove all '.world' from examples below. If you choose this step however you will need to edit $Oracle_Home/network/ADMIN/tnsnames.ora and add '.world' to all your entries.
    5. add entries in $Oracle_Home/network/ADMIN/tnsnames.ora e.g.
    REDRING.WORLD =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = DBS-01)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = redring)
    (HS = OK)
    6. add entries in $Oracle_Home/network/ADMIN/listener.ora e.g.
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = redring)
    (ORACLE_HOME = c:\oracle\ora81)
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    7. create file in $Oracle_Home/hs/ADMIN e.g. initREDRING.ora
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = redring
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = OFF
    set odbcini=C:\WINNT\odbc.ini
    8. Restart Listener (and I like to restart DB as well)
    9. From db user create db link e.g.
create database link redring.world connect to username identified by password using 'REDRING.WORLD'
    10. to test: select * from [email protected]
    James

Yeah, had got this problem too.
This works if Oracle is installed on Win2000, not sure if it will work on others:-
    1. Close any open oracle database connections to your HS sid.
    2. Get a copy of odbccmpt.exe from the SQL server (should be in x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\) and place it on your Oracle server.
    3. Run the odbccmpt.exe from the msdos prompt twice as follows:
    odbccmpt hsodbc /T
    odbccmpt hsodbc /v:6
That's it. Now nchar and nvarchar are converted to char and varchar as far as oracle is concerned.
    James.

  • No Soundbooth Playback Playing Audio over RDP Connection

    Hello...
After searching in vain for a solution to this problem in a multitude of different places and coming-up empty, I thought it worthwhile to try asking everyone here to see if you can please help me. Here's my dilemma:
My company purchased Adobe eLearning Suite 2 which comes with Adobe Soundbooth. We installed it on a high-powered PC that I share with other eLearning developers. I am using Microsoft RDP to remote-into the PC with eLearning Suite and am attempting to perform some simple edits on an existing WAV file using Soundbooth. I am not interested in recording via RDP as I understand it is not possible to do this via Windows XP. Playback of audio files works perfectly fine from other applications on the remote PC with eLearning Suite. I can even play-back and make very simple edits of audio directly via Captivate 5. Just not from Soundbooth.
When attempting to play an audio file over RDP, the playhead refuses to move. If I go to Edit / Preferences / Audio Hardware, I see that the Default Device shown is Soundbooth 3.0 WDM Sound, with Output Mapping of Microsoft RDP Audio Driver (emulated) - 1 and Microsoft RDP Audio Driver (emulated) - 2 for left and right channel, respectively.
    I have tried the following:
    1. Changed default device to Soundbooth 3.0 DirectSound. This changed the Left and Right output mappings to "no audio device - 1 and -2" respectively. In this configuration, the playhead moves and the audio level meter shows activity, but again, there is (of course) no audible sound.
    2. Under the original Soundbooth 3.0 DirectSound device, turned-off Device 32-bit Playback. No change in the problem. The playhead refuses to move when play is clicked.
If someone can provide some suggestions on how to resolve this issue, I would really appreciate it! For now, whenever I need to edit a file, I have to hoof-it to the Adobe PC and perform my edits "in-person".
    Thanks!
    Chris

The sound does playback locally.  I decided to use YouTube to reproduce the issue (with success).  I then decided to hit other sites using other similar plugins to see if audio playback would work and they did (for Shockwave and QuickTime).  As far as if this worked before?... I can't say that for sure.  Where I work, we use a lot of VM technologies to perform testing and I usually use Fabulatech's USB over Network client/server solution to have access to audio devices from a VM, but that's when I'm not using a Remote Desktop Client (using RDP) and use a different remote interface (like a browser plugin: e.g., VMware's Lab Manager) for viewing the operating system screen.  Lately I have been using the Remote Desktop Client more and more because it's just a better tool for getting to VMs remotely than the other less primitive options (which require extra utilities tp support such things like audio).  I will post a new bug report, thanks!

  • Creating anchor links over a PSD header

I have created my header in Photoshop and pasted it in to my one-page site as a graphic.  In order to create anchors I've created text boxes over each word - no fill and no stroke - and lableled each one to the corresponding anchor.  In Preview only the first link works?  Is there a better way to do this?
    http://dwhh2.businesscatalyst.com/index.html#aboutus

Yes. You can either used Named Destinations, or page views.
Named Destinations need to be set up before the link is created, but can be
used by more than one link. Page views are created ad-hoc when you select
the action "Go to page view".

  • Unable to connect to VM over RDP

    Hello,
I have a VM that I am suddenly unable to connect to over RDP.
The machine is connected to a virtual network that is connected to my local network over a site to site VPN.
I was previously able to RDP using both the public endpoint and over the VPN tunnel. I can still connect to other machines over the VPN so I know the VPN is working. I also cannot ping the machine from another Azure VM on the same subnet in my Azure virtual
    network
I have tried the various troubleshooting steps around restarting and resizing the VM. None of which has helped. I have not yet tried deleting the VM and trying to reattach the disks.
I would normally shrug it off and rebuild the machine but it is a domain controller and I'd rather not have to go through the process of removing a failed domain controller.
As a further troubleshooting step I downloaded the VHDs to try and run them locally in Hyper-V to see what is going on in the console window there. The machine starts and blue screens with error 0xc00002e2 but I am not sure if this related or just an issue
with migrating from Azure to Hyper-V
Can anyone assist? Thank you in advance.
    Tom

    Hi,
Just to double check: Have your assigned a static IP? That is a NoNo!
If not then try the following
    1. Download the RDP file again and try connecting again
    2. Shut down and restart the machine via the management portal
    3. Makesure the BuiltIn firewall in Windows 2012 is not blocking your RDP connection
    4. The RDP endpoint is created by default and so should be correct, however double check. If you have created a custom RDP connection, you have to also use the public port within the servername
    Cheers and goodluck

  • Voice prompts when creating text msgs

I wish to turn of the voice prompting and auto suggesting when creating text messages but cannot find how to do it

Sounds like you have activated Voice Over in Accessibility. Go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn off Voice Over. Also check Accessibility Shortcut and see that is turned off.

  • Voice Recognition Function Not Working When Starting Video/Audio/Text Chat

The Speech Function with Voice Recognition is really neat, but I am having one problem. When I say "Video Chat with Tom Smith" it will say "Tom Smith is not in your iChat Buddy List." It recognizes the name, but it says the person is not in my iChat buddy list and will not let me video chat with that person. How can I fix it so I can video/audio/text chat with someone using the speech function?

  • Pass Through Auth Not Using Novell eDirectory Over RDP - Virtual Desktop

    Hi,
I have installed and configured SGD and the Virtual Desktop Adapter to a Virtual Center server. So far that whole side of things is working great. Machines are cloned, prepped and connected to by users through the My Desktop link in SGD. Now that I am attempting to perfect the master template I have encountered some issues. The network here is Novell eDirectory and at the moment when the desktop is launched the username and password used to authenticate to the SGD webtop are passed through to the Virtual Machine, but it seems that they are passed through to the Windows Authentication System/GINA even though the Novell client is in place.
The virtual machines are Windows XP and by default none of the user accounts exist locally, so of course the login fails. This drops the user back to the login box where it can be seen that the Workstation Only tick box is checked. Settings in the Novell client to always default to eDirectory authentication, forget last setting used etc has all been set properly. Even when hiding the Workstation Only tickbox the username and password are passed to local system authentication still.
I need to get the username and password sent to the Novell eDirectory authentication system/GINA in order for Zenworks to create the user on the local system. When dropping back to the login box and manually unticking the Workstation Only box login proceeds normally. Drives are mapped and the local user account is created by the Zenworks agent.
Is SGD specifically targeting an authentication subsystem within the virtual machine, regardless of your installed authentication handler/GINA preference order? Can I get SGD to pass the details to the Novell client? Barring that is there some way I can prevent SGD passing the details? I tried turning off some of the authentication details caching etc but some of that is needed to rename the virtual machines after the user connecting. For the time being having users authenticate twice would be acceptable, having them login in, then get an error message, then manually unticking Workstation Only then relogging in is not acceptable.
I have been searching these forums, Novell forums, Terminal Server forums for answers but so far nothing has been of any help. Please note that the login box is not the cut down/windows only login box that users are seen when they connect over RDP to a machine that already has a user logged in locally. There is no user logged in locally and the full login box is presented once the login failed message is cleared.
Any help, or even a nudge in the right direction would be great.
    Thanks
    Russ

    Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to respond. I tried the full context user name path as well, but its defiantly just being passed to a different GINA. The only credentials that determine if you have RDP access to a server is the local machines credentials, so Microsoft have the service pass authentication straight to the Microsoft GINA non-interactively instead of honouring the installed GINA's. So it will fail no matter what I put in since the account doesn't exist locally yet. People have implemented solutions that depend on Active Directory domains, but that's what I am trying to avoid.
In that situation the AD Domain would allow access to the local machine based on Windows permissions, and a registry setting TSAutoLogin or something would trigger the Novell log in in parallel to map the Netware shared volumes. With no domain you can't get the initial log in triggered for the Novell client to kick in.
Connecting to the virtual machine using an RDP client without pre-entering authentication information does show the Novell Login (NWGINA) with all the right settings in place, so I have modified the expect (login) script for SGD not to automatically pass log in information through with the RDP connection it makes. The result is a clean Novell login box without any errors that a user can just enter their details into a second time.

  • Prob & Solution: Unable to make RDP connection using newly added Microsoft Account to win10 tech preview hosted on AzureVM

    Problem description:
After VM deployment is finished, remote desktop into the Windows 10 client OS with the created admin credentials
Open PC Settings -> Users and Accounts -> manage other users (this is the new UX not the old classic add user dialog)
Add a Microsoft account to the desktop, leave it as a standard user
    Log Out
Make RDP connection using login of DNSName\[email protected]
Note: DNSName = connection string you are using in RDP
[email protected] is whatever liveID you are using.
Problem: If it was working you will get a message that this user does not have access rights to remote desktop to the computer
Error: Unknown user or bad password is what I would get
    Solution:
Log back on as admin user with RDP
Using the new UX from " PC Settings -> Users and Accounts -> "  delete the recently created microsoft account
Create a local (not microsoft account) account where with the name that would be before the @ (i.e. user77)
Go to the Old user management interface (either the computer management MMC or the "System Properties->Remote" tab and give the created local user remote desktop access rights.
    Now log off as admin
Remote desktop and use username of DNSName\User77  (note no @outlook.com)
    Let the login process finish
Make sure any feedback questions are answered
Now navigate to the new UX using " PC Settings -> Users and Accounts -> " and link the local account with your Microsoft account.
You will have to authorize the microsoft account, typically with a text message + verification code
Wait 2 minutes (using a A1 size VM there seemed to be some background stuff for account linking)
    Log out
Now log in using DNSName\[email protected]
    Success!
I hope this helps anyone else who is using Azure VM's to test out Windows 10 client technical preview.

    Hi
We use a custom imagine and experience this quite alot.  Usually host name is missing and we have to redeploy.
Seems to have gotten worse as we add more vms.
Should we not sysprep when capturing a vm?
Orginal vm came from the gallary and we've simply resized os to 30gb.
Main role for our vms is job processing so stop deallocate when finish to keep costs down buts prooving to be more trooblesome that expected due vms dieing.
We have a number which we don't shut down which are problem free.  so I suspect the stop deallocate and self heal are still early days.
My monitor has reported issues with 40+ vms this evening.  Are there issues or updates going on in western europe?

  • In Mountain Lion, do I have to hit "Done" button to use Voice Recognition

    Hi,
I was wondering, once I hit the fn button twice, which activates the voice recognition, I speak and it listens, do I have to hit enter or click on Done button to conversate it in text?
I wish there's a way that as soon as I am done with the sentence, it should type it up automatically. i checked in settings and i couldn't find anything that can make this happen.

thanks very much for your reply Kurt, that news is quite a relief. As you can probably tell, i'm about to re-build my system from scratch, reformatting my drive. I'm currently at the point of researching do's and don'ts and i should add i very much liked your article on font management!
    Best wishes, Richard

  • Does AS10g Wireless Support Voice Recognition?

    Hi,
We are looking to allow customers to create service requests in Oracle CRM via a voice recognition interface. The customer could speak answers to pre-defined questions over the phone and this is loaded into the CRM via an XML interface. Does AS10g wireless support this? If so, are there standard templates or does everything need to be custom built? Is this a lot more effort than other types of programming?
    Any help would be appreaciated.
    Paul

As far as I know, there isn't anything packaged to log SR into Oracle CRM using voice. But there is similar application available for Field Service Technicians. Technicians can get Customer/Task information using normal phone and using voice commands.
You may try to build a custom application using Mobile XML (MXML) of Oracle iAS Wireless for this purpose.
    Thanks,
    Hardik

  • Why would make a voice recognition software and not give it the ability to unlock your iphone for you?

Seriously why would you make a voice recognition software on a phone that can't unlock your phone for you? That makes absolutly no sense. Maybe you should consider adding that feature in your next update.

Nothing is difficult for the person who doesn't have to do it or doesn't understand it. I would never use it on a device based on the current state of the art; it would be too easy to spoof. Keep in mind that Siri does not do speech recognition on the phone; it does it on Apple's (actually Nuance's) servers; it sends your input over a data connection to the server where the work is actually done, then the reply is sent back. Using the same technology for speaker identification would mean keeping a database of potentially 500 million users and being able to search it fast enough to unlock your phone. AND it would require a data connection. So you couldn't unlock your phone in Airplane mode, for example.
So that means that it would have to be able to recognize your voice entirely on the phone. I'm reasonably sure that's not what Samsung does; I suspect what they do is speaker independent recognition of your chosen passphrase, possibly taking into account tonality. Which means that anyone who heard you unlock your phone with a voice in the same pitch range as you could unlock it after stealing it. It also wouldn't work very well in a noisy environment.
I love Touch ID. It works perfectly almost every time, I don't have to say anything (which is a great convenience when using your phone in a meeting), and it's faster than speaking a phrase. And to use a voice password you would still have to push a button to wake the phone; on my 5S pushing the button wakes AND unlocks the phone. I don't have to say a thing.

  • Voice Recognition and iPhone 5S

Most of the time when I’m using my iPhone 5 (32 GB) it’s in association with voice recognition, e.g. sending emails, sending texts, dictating notes, etc.
As you know, iOS 7 allows you to dictate for about 15-20 seconds before cutting you off in order to process what you have just said.
Just wondering if the iPhone 5S extends that recording time or if it is strictly in association with iOS 7? I would love to be able to double this recording time, if possible.
Anyone know if iOS 8 is going to allow more recording time…?

Since we are just users like you, all we know about iOS 8 is what has been publicly announced.
