Volume Mixer savings not saved in vista on DV3 model 3510 bought through best Buys

I have a dv3 and Iv3e tested this on other units in best buy. The volume mixer refuses to save its settings through a reboot. For instance if you set the internet devices at 50% volume they wont be saved through a reboot. I cant get an answer how to save these settings. Some of the other hp model laptops dont have this problem. Please help on this as Ive googled it and come up empty. How can I save the volume mixer settings in vista????

people complaining about problems installing an office over another office are (dare i say it) stupid. it makes absolutely no sense installing one over the trial version. just uninstall the trial and you'll be fine. every single time.
as for problem with uninstalling mcafee (or any other antivirus, for that matter, just download the uninstaller from the software company e.g. http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507 for mcafee.
that said i believe you get to choose if you want mcafee and/or office when you go through the inital boot, the "on-screen instructions"
you can slow down the odd via power manager
and thanks for the tips on changing the reg to have the user profiles somewhere else!

reinstalled console launcher. did reg clean / driver sweep etc.
    still doesnt work. anyone?

In audio console you have a tab "restore defaults" uncheck everthing from it, this may help you as helped me long time ago and I am unchecking it since then just to be sure and never have the problem again. You can also hack Auzentech drivers and Install theirs consoles it can resolve this issue but you must do this at your own as nobody can support you with info how to do this nor will I.Message Edited by Art385 on 08-06-2008 04:24 PM

I bought a new iPad Air 2 from Best Buy a week ago and it's serial number is not registered with Apple.  According to support I am not eligible for support or the 3 month warranty.  How do I register this thing?

Return it to Best Buy and either get one that can be registered or get a full refund and shop somewhere else.

  • Volume setting not saved

    Hello,
My volume settings are not saved when I power-cycle or reset my iMac. I have tried resetting the PRAM, with no effect. In another thread, someone asked me whether my PRAM battery might be getting old; the answer is, probably not, this computer was new as of this January.
One thing that's a little different from my other/previous Macs is that I have a Solid-State Disk (SSD) as startup disk and a standard Hard Drive (HD) for data storage. As recommended by various threads on the subject, to optimize performance while minimizing wear on the SSD, the /Users/xxx directory is on the SSD, but various sub-directories (Desktop, Documents, Downloads, ...) are on the HD. I've noticed that this leads to various odd perturbations (e.g. icons in the Finder sidebar only update when I click on them, can't launch a Parallels virtual machine by double-clicking its icon, ...), but I really don't see how it would be related to my volume settings.
    Here's the machine configuration:
    iMac (iMac11,3) 27" / 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7 / 16 GB RAM / 251 GB SSD / 2 TB HD
    Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K540)
    Boot ROM version: IM112.0057.B00
Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks for the suggestion. The Library folder is on the SSD, and I don't think the Public folder really has anything to do with this. But I did try moving the Desktop folder back to the SSD; the only thing that changed is that the Desktop icon in the Finder window sidebar is drawn correctly. The volume setting behavior is not changed.
I noticed something else, though: when I increase the volume and restart, the reboot chime is louder. This implies that my volume setting is correctly saved to PRAM, but then something else - during the start-up - cranks it back down. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to track this sort of thing?

  • Documents/attachments not saved in workcenter incident management?!

    Hi all!
We patched our system to SPS 20.
While testing the designed functionality of the incident management within the work centers I got an problem with saving attachements.
I can choose an attachement/document (.doc; .xls; .pdf; etc.) and assign it to the ticket.
If I save the ticket I get the feedback "saved correctly" but the attachment disappears and is not existing any
    more in the ticket.
This only happens within the work center. In SAP GUI the attachements can be assigned and saved correctly.
We checked and implemented the latest notes for SPS 20. Also 1269928 and 1080131.
Does anyone have had a problem like this before?
Thanks for you help in advance.

    Alex

    Hi Alex,
you might check SAP Note [1401196|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1401196] "Work Centers: attachment not saved in Incident Management" to solve the problem.

  • Can Best Buy back up my files without saving my computer?

Best Buy told me they have to remove my virus to save my computer. I asked them to back up my files of course there is a fee. Is there a way for them to back up my files on a CDR or DVR and not fix the virus. I don't care if they dump my computer and I get a new one. I just need my files.

Find a KNOPPIX or Ubunutu Linux LiveCD, and boot from that.  Back up your files to an external hard drive using the LiveCD.
Then virus scan the external HD.  DO IT FROM THE LiveCD!  A LiveCD can't get infected by a virus (read-only media), and in addition 99%+ of Windows viruses can't infect a Linux distribution.

  • Volume not saving in the Window's volume mixer. Resets back to 100% [Adobe Flash Player]

This problem is rustling my jimmies hardcore
Everytime I restart Firefox or Internet Explorer "Adobe Flash Player 11.3" always resets back to 100% in the Window's volume mixer while everything else stays put.
My Skype volume never resets after a restart, my Firefox volume never resets after a restart, my WMP/VLC players never reset after a restart. Why does this
How could something so obvious get past QA, quite frankly I think it's embarrassing for a company as big as Adobe.

As for working around this issue, please see the following FAQ.  In particular, you can either disable Protected Mode or revert back to a previous version of Flash Player.

  • Since day light savings, events are not saving in my calendar. Has anyone else had this problem?, Since day light savings, events are not saving in my calendar. Has anyone else had this problem?

Since day light savings, events are not saving in my calendar. Has anyone else had this problem?, Since day light savings, events are not saving in my calendar. Has anyone else had this problem?

    Greetings,
I have not heard of that issue although some people have reported events showing an hour earlier / later (though I haven't seen that personally).
    Questions:
What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
Can you make an event and then it just disappears?
Are you using iCloud / MobileMe / Google / Yahoo / Some other server based calendar?
    Try these in order:
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Language & Text > Formats > Region. Region should be set to the country of your choice. Do not have it set to "Custom" as this can have unexpected results in the iCal window.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Date & Time and make sure the Date and Time are correct and that the correct Time Zone is selected.
If that doesn't resolve the issue:
    1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
--- NOTE: To get to "Home > Library" in Lion: Click anywhere on the desktop and then click on the "Go" menu at the top of the computer screen while holding down the "option" key on the keyboard.  You will see "Library" in the menu.
    4. Launch iCal and test.
    If the issue persists:
    1. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
--- NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    3. Launch iCal and test.
    Hope that helps.

  • Volume control slider position not saved at exit

Just upgraded to 6.0.2.23 and when I started it for the first time, I noticed that the volume slider was pegged at max. Thought nothing of it and turned it down. The next day, when I started iTunes, I noticed that it was pegged again.
It appears to me that the position of the control is not saved any more. It was in the previous version and this is new.

    Hello,
In Captivate 5 there is a volume control widget. Did you try that? Open the Widget panel (or the Widget Workspace), click on the button Browse, you'll find it in the Gallery, Widgets folder.

  • No audio device is installed says volume mixer

So suddenly one day the audio on my system just disappears. Little white x on the speaker icon on taskbar, mouse over it and it displays my current audio device and volume 0. Open playback devices and all are enabled and "working". Open volume mixer and "No audio device is installed". In device manager, all audio devices are installed with current drivers and all are "functioning normally". I don't quite understand this contradiction...
Two days later, after searching through hundreds of forum threads and finding that this problem is actually fairly common, I still have not found a solution. This is what I have tried:
Obvious first step for me was to reinstall the audio drivers. No success
    2) Uninstall ALL audio software and drivers, reinstall everything from manufactures websites. No success
    3) try to restore to an earlier configuration. Guess wht, NO RESTORE POINTS. No success
    4) Stop/Start Windows audio service. No success
    5) Open BIOS set up screen. Can not find any audio options at all....(No success)
    6) Download windows Vista service pack 2 (yes, I am running vista), try to install, but every time I try it gets hung up on "Preparing your computer" and stops responding. Yes I have tried to download it multiple times from Windows download center and have also tried to run without saving. Since it never installs, No success.
    7) Download a "fix" for a similar problem arising after waking a system up from hibernation (KB9296850). Didn't  match my problem exactly but thought it was worth a shot. Again, every time I try to install it gets hung up on "searching for updates" and stops responding. Again, downloaded multiple times, run from location, all from microsoft. No success
    8) Desperation setting in. Insert system restore disk. Doesnt work. Tells me its only for use on Acer system. Guess what I AM RUNNING AN ACER SYSTEM. No success
    9) Still have a copy of Windows XP. Insert and boot from the disk. Try to format the HDD and install Windows XP. For some reason does not work. Try multiple times, Will not install on this system. Cant remember the exact error code it gives me. No success
    System Specs:
    Acer Aspire M5620
Intel Core 2 quad CPU 2.4 GHZ each
    Acer proprietary motherboard and bios
Has anyone EVER fixed this problem. I have tried everything, I cant even format my HDD, which I know is not related to the audio problem but still frustrating.
    Thanks

Looks like a real mess. Use the XP CD and boot it up, delete any partitions.
Use your recovery DVD for Vista and then attempt to use that, if that does not work then there may be some hardware problem

  • Envy 15 - No audio able to be heard, despite volume mixer showing activity.

I have a HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC (LW897AV), running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1.  It is only a little over a year old as I got it in June 2012, so is still under warranty.  Obviously I'd rather not send it back in if I don't have to.
The day before yesterday I was having no issues, as all normal sounds were present (i.e. Windows start-up/shut-down, as well as able to hear mp3 music played on Media Player).  Yesterday when I started up all was quiet.  I could not hear any system sounds, nor manually force any sounds to be heard.  When I look at the volume mixer, I can see the green bar rising and falling (when playing music) so it seems like the sound is being generated but just not being relayed to the internal speakers and/or headphone jacks.  Likewise when I open the "Sound" window, my default device is the "Speakers and Headphones, IDT High Definition Audio CODEC", and it shows the same activity on the green verticle bars.  I do not use any external speakers.
The audio troubleshooter did not identify any issues.  All drivers/etc appear to be running properly with no problems noted.  I have not installed any new programs in the recent past (but I honestly don't know if some update occured without my knowledge).
Something similar to this happened to me a couple months ago.  Sound randomly disappeared that time too, but came back just as randomly several days later.  Now that it has happened again, I would like to not only fix it but determine the cause so it doesn't re-appear again and again in the future.
Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  And if there is any further information I should provide to give a better view of the situation, just let me know and I'll do my best.  Thanks!

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56501-57000/sp56900.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.
    Chipset Driver - Windows 7.
When this has completed, shutdown the notebook,
Hold down the Power button and Beats button ( together ) for 10 seconds.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
