  • Should I wait to install Windows 8 on my MacBook Pro?

I heard that I should wait to instal Windows 8 on my mac and let the drivers update before I do so. If I install Windows, and then the drivers update, will I be able to update my drivers or will it be too late?
The macbook pro is early 2011 if that makes a difference.  And I plan on running Linux in addition to Windows.

If you want Windows 8 you should at least wait until the official release date. If you install the pre-release version now you will just need to install again when the release comes out.
If you don't need Windows 8, install Windows 7.

  • What does "waiting to install" mean?

I clicked on the Ai app in Adobe Application Manager and it said installing, went to 100%, then said extracting and now it's been on waiting to install for several hours and I don't know if this is the last step and I should just wait it out, or if something went wrong and I should just try again.

Steve this discussion appears to be around using the Creative Cloud to download Illustrator back on January 22, 2013.  There are not many details in the initial post or the solution.  I would recommend that you start a new discussion with the specifics of what you are experiencing.  What software are you trying to install?  Which operating system are you using?  Do you receive any specific error messages?  What have you tried so far to resolve your difficulties?
Starting a new discussion with these specifics is likely to allow you to find a resolution to your current difficulties.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 Waiting to install-

I have subscribed to the Creative Cloud. (I have CS5) I have successfully downloaded and installed InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I downloaded Dreamweaver and it seemed to download just fine. After it downloaded it has this text next to the loading bar: "Waiting to install…"  It'sbeen like this for 8+ hours. What is it waiting for? Is there something I should do to facilitate the installation? I tried quitting all open applications including the browser but it made no difference. My computer has been on this entire time. I have turned Energy Saver off during this download and install process so as not to have any interference.

    Nikhil,
Thanks for your quick reply. I searched around last night and came to
the conclusion that I needed to uninstalled the older version of
Dreamweaver. That allowed the CS6 version to install. Uninstalling the
other applications first (AI, PSD, ID, AE, Pr) was not necessary so when
I encountered this with Dw I thought something was wrong.
Thanks for the link to the CreativeCloud Help page!
    Best,
    Anita
    Thanks,

  • Build and Capture - waiting to install

I am using SCCM 2012 RTM and have started seeing an issue with our Build and Capture Task Sequence.  When performing a build and capture the system will not install anything for a day or so and anything that is advertised to it gets stuck in a "Waiting
to Install..." status in the Software Center UI.

When I use the same Task Sequence (or any other deployment) on a system built from our old .WIM created with the same Build and Capture Task Sequence they always install immediately.  I am thinking it has something to do with the default SCCM Client
upgrade package available by default, but I had our SCCM owner verify that has been disabled in the hierarchy.
The deployments are set to ignore maintenance windows and things of that nature.  It appears to be an issue with the agents state when it comes up out of the build process.  It checks in with the Site and processes assignments for Compliance (DCM)
without issues as well.  The build and capture new WIM/System builds just seem to not want to install anything.
What makes this issue even more odd is that if I leave the system on for several days sitting at the "Waiting to Install..." state, the agent finally works out whatever issue it is stuck on and begins to work without issues.  If I don't use
the WIM for several days after it was created, the WIM will also stop experiencing the issue too.
Has anyone else run into this too?  This was working a couple months back and I went to create a new WIM in December and it hasn't work correctly since.
    Thanks..Jon

I have identified the source of the problem, but no solution yet.   The blocking program is found under SMS_MaintenanceTaskRequests in the local client WMI Namespace Root\CCM\SMS_MaintenanceTaskRequests.  The GUID that is found in there has
a matching TaskID to a TaskID found in the SMSTS from the Build and Capture Task Sequence logs.
This is found in the SMSTSLog from the Build and Capture process showing the same Task GUID referenced (followed by a failure I cannot find good info on).  C:\SMSTSLog\SMSTS.log

I am not sure why the task is still hanging around on the system after the build and capture sequence completes.  There are no errors during the B&C TS and I have removed everything from it as well to only be an OS install with no changes.

  • Mac App Store stuck on "Waiting to install"?

Whenever I try to update or install a new app from the App store, it downloads fine but then gets stuck at the "Waiting to install" stage. I have tried rebooting my system, quitting and reopening the App Store, quitting the App store and killing the storeagent process via Activity Monitor and then restarting the App store...nothing has worked. I've included an image of what the issue looks like, this is the Purchased section of the App Store. The screenshot was taken after it had been sitting at that point for over an hour. Any suggestions?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.

  • Can I download but wait to install Lion?

I am eligible for the free up-to-date download of Lion. Of course, that expires in under 30 days now. Since I'd like to wait before installing the first release of Lion, can I download it now but wait to install it? Will it just sit in my downloads folder until I'm ready to run the installer? I'd like to wait for updates to iron out problems, but that may be after my 30 day eligibility.
    Thanks.

When you download from the App Store, you get a Lion Installer icon in your dock and the application itself (Install OS X) in your Applications folder.  You should move or copy the Installer from the Applications folder to your desktop (or elsewhere), because once you run it from the Applications folder it disappears.  If you have another computer(s), you can simply copy the Installer over to the other computer, avoiding the very lengthy download time.
Once the Installer is in your machine, you should be able to use it anytime.
I bought Lion, installed it, didn't like it, erased the disk and went back to Snow Leopard (with my complete clone), re-installed Lion to try it for another day, didn't like it, erased the disk again and went back to Snow Leopard.  Now I'll probably wait for 10.7.2 or 10.7.3, to see if the problems I encountered have been fixed.

  • KB installation stuck in "Pending Verification" and "Waiting to Install"

    Hi All
Recently we deployed some MS patches to some machine, though most of the machines have got them installed successfully there is a machine showing few KBs as "Waiting to Install" and one KB as "Pending Verification". [Screen Shot below]
I think "Pending verification" is causing others to wait.
Does pending verification means checking if the given KB is applicable to the machine?
I checked few logs but could not able to find that can help me to resolve:

  • HT4623 When attempting to update apps on my iPad, it gets as far as "waiting" or "installing" and no further...SO frustrating. I now have 13 Apps waiting....

When trying to update apps, it says "waiting" or "installing " but gets no further.  Some have been like this since January!! What must I do ??

This is my boilerplate response that I have posted many times on this forum. See if any of these suggestions work for you.
    1. Tap the "waiting" icon and see if you can pause it. If it does pause, then tap it again and see if it will resume. If that works, repeat the same steps for each "waiting" icon.
    2. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    3. Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
    4. If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    5. You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again. Apps may also be able to be deleted in Settings>General>Usage>Storage if you cannot get the X to pop up on the icon.
    6. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
    7. If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • Havoc DLC "waiting to install"

So just booted up my console and I noticed the havoc downloads are still down as waiting to install but I went onto the game and I could play zombies and the new maps so I thought why not and I proceeded to delete the notification on downloads saying waiting to install. Now I can't play any of the new content. Does anyone know what to do? I'm redownloading them now but what shall I do if it comes up with waiting to install now once they've downloaded?

What I did to fix this was download all 3 files, and when they finish only 1 will install, then you can delete the other 2, its a problem from activision not playstation, see the link below for details about the problem

  • SCCM 2012: Application deployment stuck on 'Waiting to install '

I am setting up many new machines in the last month. But sometimes, when installing applications after rolling out an image. The applications wont install and display the waiting to install message. This mostly last for 1-2 hours but sometimes ever longer.
None of the logs that I have checked seem to give any indication why it will not move forward.  Any
    thoughts on how to troubleshoot?
For what it's worth, we are setup with a standalone primary site with one distribution point installed. SCCM 2012 SP1.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Adobe products download then hang on "waiting to install"

Have downloaded the Adobe Application Manager - manually - which is working. Signed in with my creative cloud account, and tried to download Indesign and Photoshop (CS6). Both downloaded fine, but both are now hanging on the "waiting to install" and are not moving at all.
I am on a work network and using Windows XP.
Any help will be greatly appreciated - and if technical language could be kept to a minimum that would also be brill! - I'm no techy!!
    Thanks.

Steve you will want to review your installation log files to determine why the installation may be failing.  You can find details on how to review the installation log files at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.
Also what version of Windows XP are you using?  Which service packs are currently installed?

  • Disk Utility Issues Wait to Install Leopard

    Dear fellow Mac users,
Rather than a question, this is a recommendation to those who are wondering whether to install Leopard now or to wait until it gets really stable.
My experience in installing Leopard has not been positive and I chose to revert to Tiger. After discovering several issues and going to the "Genius Bar" of the local Apple Store, I fortunately have been able to restore all my previous settings.
The loss has been mostly time and money, and they frightened me up suggesting that I had to change my hard drive. For those who might experience similar problems, let me provide some details.
    1. Installation of Leopard
After carefully making a bootable backup of my HD on an external drive, I installed Leopard choosing the Option "Erase and install." This occurred without visible glitch. After updating the system to its latest version, I migrated all my data and settings. The result was an incredibly slow system, completely useless. It cannot have been the results of my settings, because I also created a "clean" account called "Maintenance," with the same results. On the recommendation of the "Apple Genius" I also added 1 GB of memory, getting a total of 1.5 GB of RAM installed to the cost of $150. It did NOT improve the situation.
    2. Disk Utility
Because I suspected problems with privileges, I tried to run the Disk Utility. The result was an endless spinning wheel. After waiting several hours, I had to force quit the application. Tried to run it from the install DVD of Leopard, with the same results. People at the Genius Bar also tried their disk utility after booting from an external drive, without any success. They diagnosed a probable failure of the hard drive and recommended that I replace it. Fortunately, I didn't trust this groundless recommendation and made a last attempt by erasing Leopard and reinstalling Tiger. Now it runs just fine, and there is not the slightest mechanical problem. Apparently, and I only discovered this today, the whole disk check procedure changed with Mac OS 10.5, and at this stage it is a complete mess, with enough bugs in Disk Utility to keep the developers busy for a couple of months. I came across discussions of this on the Mac FixIt Website.
Thus, my recommendation at this stage is that if you have Mac OS 10.4.11 running fine you JUST STICK WITH IT and be patient for a few more months. Upgrading at this stage amounts to loosing time, energy, and money. Of course, I am sure that Mac OS 10.5 has many promising features and look forward to using it in the future, but not now. I would be happy to hear contradictory opinions, if any.
    Best wishes for patience.

    Nerowolfe,
I have installed Leopard and have had nothing but problems as well. Perhaps you can help me. I am ready to roll back to Tiger. These are just a few:
    1. I cannot mount my external firewire drives. I have separately tested each and they work fine, I booted with the Tiger disk and they mounted fine, I reset the firewire port and when I connected them they mounted on my desktop, but not in the finder window and when I tried to open one, it just hung. I have been unsuccessful after many attempts to mount one of them with Leopard.
    2. I appear to get random hangs. I have a 160GB hard drive and 2GB memory. I have 42 GB space left on the hard drive....yet I continue to have random hangs, especially when I try to open disk utility
    3. Spotlight just does not work, period
    4. I keep finding locked folders. Right now my CS3 is locked and even after going into get info and unlocking it, it just locks back and I am unable to open the application. I am a photographer and have been unable to do any work for the past 2 weeks while I am messing around with my computer. Now I have Christmas photos to sort and can't access the photos on the external drives or even open CS3
I have searched the forums, tried many of the recommendations, but nothing is working for me....perhaps since you have been successful you could give me a hand with these issues.
    I wait for help.......
Other than that, how do I uninstall Leopard and reinstall Tiger????
