WAP321 - Disconnects / Not connecting / low speed

I haver purchased 3 WAP321 for my new home two weeks ago.
So far, I'm very unhappy with this product because of the following problems that randomly occur:
1.) Wireless devices do not connect
Often a connection to the setup SSID is not possible at all. I have 4 wireless devices and it happens on all of those devices (HTC One M8, Iphone4, Ipad, Dell XPS Notebook). The SSID is always shown on all devices, the signal strength is indicated as full strength as well. Connection is anyway often not possible. My HTC M8 showed several error message such as: Deactivated, Authorization problem, connection not possible
2.) Connection gets lost randomly
The wifi connection is randomly interrupted. This brings me back to problem Nr. 1 listed above. I strongly think that the connection lost problem is related to problem Nr. 1
3.) Connection speed is randomly extremely slow (0.1mbit/sec.) even though the signal strength indicator is at full. This also only happens randomly and usually I have 25mbit/sec. which is currently my paid internet speed.
My setup:
The 3 AP's are located on 3 floors in my house.
All 3 AP's are connected through a Netgear ProSafe GS728TP Gigabit Smart Switch
My wired internet connection is stable
Things I tried so far - without success
- I used the wizard to setup the AP's using Single Point setup
- I have tried to use only one AP instead of 3
- I have tried DHCP on the AP's
- I have tried fixes IP's on all AP's
- I have tried to change the security settings and even deactivated security
- I have tried all different wireless modes, 802.11 b/g/n, 2.4GHz, 5GHz
- I have tried to set Channel from Auto to a various channel
Facts:
- All AP's have their IP correctly
- Single Point Setup correctly shows a cluster of 3 APs
Thoughts:
I have no idea what could cause this problem. Between the disconnects there are often several hours. Once a disconnect happens, it is not possible to reconnect with all 4 wireless devices. Only after waiting a undefined period of time, sometimes hours, sometimes a day, it will strangely just work how it is supposed to. The longest time it worked was 1.5days.
Since this problem is not just (it works or it doesn't), I find it hard to figure out a solution for this problem. I can only change a value, than it seems to work and a couple of hours later it will not work anymore.
The support forum is my last chance, otherwise I have to return the product :(
Questions:
- How can I fix this issue, any ideas?
- Could an option in the switch or router cause these problems?
- Please let me know if I can provide anything more to resolve this issue
Thanks in advance,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
How are plugged your APs ? PoE ? And are your ports (on the netgear) configured with auto-negotiation ? Because sometimes, you've to force port's mode. Try it and let me know if it can solved some of your issues.

Kevin

  • BT Internet keeps disconnecting and has low speeds

I have been having problems with BT since a week after I switched from talktalk but I've only started taking action now.
First of all I have contacted BT asking for help and they brought an engineer round which fitted a new phone socket however this did not help at all, so I contacted them again saying that it may be on their end, I got a reply email saying that they have reset my broadband line and that I should see an improvement which I did but only in the download speed.
I use my upload speed to live stream so I emailed again asking if they can do what they did for my download to my upload, I got a reply that said
"Recently you requested personal assistance from our on-line support centre. Below is a summary of your request and our response.
If this issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may reopen it within the next 7 days."
So I waited for 2days then I noticed that my download speed had decreased from 11mbps back down to 1-2mpbs overnight and that my upload had increased from 0.3 to 1mbps. Then slowly throughout the course of the day my upload decreased from 1mbps back to it's initial 0.3. I'm not sure what the noise margin is but I was monitoring my Internet and as the noise margin increased the speeds decreased.

Along side this issue I have another, most of the time when my house phone rings my Internet disconnects also there is a crackling sound on my phone line and the only solution that I have found to stop the crackling is to take the adsl wire out of my router which you can tell is very annoying.

  • DSL disconnects and low speed: Transceiver Statistics

So the technician changed my modem to an Actiontec GT784WN. I now have access to the transceiver statistics.
I've already had like 20 disconnections today and my speed -which can go up to 10000 kbps in the morning- dropped to 2000-4000 kbps. So I'm copy/pasting my stats here in case somebody can pinpoint a problem somewhere.

Sorry about not replying back sooner. Based on what I see here, you have a line that needs to be repaired by a field tech. Your attenuation is low in the morning hours when your connection is at a higher speed. As your connection degrades, your attenuation is going up while the speed goes down. That is typically the opposite, where a speed decrease causes the attenuation to also decrease a small amount.
Since you have big swings in speed, attenuation, and relative S/N margin, this is suggestive of a bad splice on the line.
If you have a landline with Verizon and you have static or other noise on the line, report that problem and do not mention anything about the DSL. If it's just with DSL, DSL Repair should be informed. Emphasise, and strongly emphasise that the solution is not to decrease your speed until that is concerned to be the final solution. A speed decrease won't fix this.

  • Internet connecting at much lower speed lately

I have HSI Enhanced and have had it for 10 months at this location and for a number of years at my previous location. Last October I was connecting at 3360 / 832 kbps. After some months it went down to  around 2800 / 832 kpbs. I wasn't crazy about speeds getting lower as time went on rather than the connection being improved, but it was pretty much free of disconnects and reliable so I was happy with it.
In the past month or so I had noise on my voice line which Verizon fixed, but my connection is now 1792 / 448 Kbps all the time, that is a drop I will not accept if this is the way it is going to be from now on. Also there is a lot of losing the connection, not to the DSL, that light stays on but the internet light goes off. I went through the usual channels online chat, telephone support to wherever that goes. I'm done with all that, that's good for people with trouble using their modem, etc. or can't connect it but not what I am looking for.
Finally they sent out a tech who was a nice enough person, what he did was call a central office and after them first claiming the lower speed was the right speed they put the connection back in the area of 3360/832. Then they said it will probably adjust itself to down around 2800 down, which it what I had before so I was OK with it. After several days with a number of disconnects (they don't last too long but very annoying) I am back to 1792 / 448.
I am using the same modem - Actiontec GT704WGB
I don't need a tech call here in the house again, nothing has changed in here since I moved in months ago. They can check the outside signal without me waiting around for them. They don't have to stand in here to call an office on their tablet.
I need to hear from Verizon personnel that can tell me LOCAL information about why my connection speed has tanked and why there are dropouts now. And most importantly, why it can't be the same as it was for all those months. As I said, I was happy with that - especially when it was 3360 / 832 kbps.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When Verizon turns your speed back up, they have to disable the optimization system they use on the lines to maintain your speed, since it sounds like that is just turning your speed back down after a few days. Make them fix it back again.
For future note, if you do have problems with your DSL and you're also having audio quality issues with your phone, call Voice Repair, and leave DSL support out of the mix. DSL support usually dials back the speed for a line issue from what I've seen as a first try basis. If you do have noise that disappears when the DSL modem is off, then that could be from other things which DSL support OR phone support will be needed for.
Ex: Two years ago I had a problem with my Frontier DSL line having a ton of static on the line. The DSL modem was not synchronizing, however the noise stopped when I shut off the modem. It turns out, the night before lightning struck a tree outside of my home, and caused the DSL modem which was several years old to fry. The modem was still powering up, but the chip responsible for the DSL connection itself was blown. A new modem from Frontier via DSL Support fixed the DSL connection AND the static.
Ex2: At a local business with Verizon DSL, they hear static on their line from time to time, but only while the DSL is active. The problem was not with the DSL itself or any filters, but as the static got worse it began to show up without the DSL being connected. Voice repair was dispatched instead of calling DSL Support, and resolved the problem by running new cable between the building and the Verizon copper trunk. In addition, they found and corrected some corroding splices.

  • Low speed connection, but still have input history.

    Hi there,
We have done some tests in our business to see the performance difference between "low speed connection" being enabled and disabled for a system, both from a network perspective, and from a performance perspective on Citrix servers.
We have determined that the 'input history' feature doesn't cause much performance impact, but a lot of the other 'high-speed' features like images and tool tips do.
We would like to be able to have "low speed connection" for our system, but still enable 'input history'. Is there any way this can be achieved, such as through INI or registry changes?
    Thanks,
    Michael.

I raised a message with SAP, and they responded saying that this is not possible

  • Low Speed Connection

    Hello all,
Do some of you have idea of the impact to unset low speed connection option in saplogon.ini file ?
We have about 10000 users on 20 SAP productions systems in Europe.
At the moment, our saplogon setting is with low speed connection option but a lot of users required historic functionality in input field and we ask ourself to unset this option to allow high speed connection.
The problem is that we don't know exactly what can be this impact on this on our network bandwith ?
    Any suggestion ?

  • Low Speed connection on SAPGUI setting

    Hi,
I need to know if I should set the Low Speed connection on SAPGUI setting.
I've check thru ST06->Detail Analysis Menu-> LAN Check By Ping. Some of the average ping for my user in Asia has ping average of 300-350 ms. People in Europe has the average of 70-80ms.
    1. Should I ask the user in Asia to set the Low Speed connection?
    2. What is the treshold here? When exactly do you need to set this option? Is there any documentation about this?
    /Regards,
    Eida

    Hi
    Here are some more documentation:
    https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700003943521999E/Sizing_network_V56_06.pdf

    http://galileanworld.com/GALILEAN%20FILES/SOFTWARES/SAP/Sap%20R3%20v4.6d/DOCU/SAP_GUI_Family.pdf
Apart from "Low Speed Connection" there are many options like change the SAPgui theme from "Color" to "normal" one. But I think "Low Speed Connection" is used when there is occasional drop of packets in network.

  • HT202778 Why is it that when I plug my iPhone into my computer and press "trust", it disconnects my phone and reconnects it, and still does not connect to iTunes??

When I plug in my iPhone, it connects and begins to charge, then asks me to "trust" the computer. When I select "trust", rather than connecting to iTunes, my phone gets disconnected and then it reconnects again and continues to charge but does not connect to iTunes... I have tried restarting both my computer and my phone, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and I've also tried connecting my phone with different USB cables and connecting them into different USB ports... Still nothing is working.

That's how Apple set it up on the Mac.
There is a free application called iExplorer for Mac that allows you to view and copy files from your iPhone.
    Hope this helps.

I'm afraid you'll have to get the phone serviced, dropping the phone must have damaged additional parts inside the phone.
But Apple will not service the phone anymore, opening the phone and replacing the battery should only be done by authorized personal, not by users.
You'll have to look for a 3rd party repair shop and see if they can fix this, sorry.

  • Connection issues and low speeds

    Hi there,
my family have been with BT now for about 3 or so years and the connection had been rather good until about late last year. According to my family it's everytime I come back home from uni the internet starts to play up as in:
    . Low speeds
    .Drops out and loses connection
Believing it was somehow my laptop causing the issues I backed everything up and completly wiped it because BT support thought it may be a virus on my machine even the the checks came back with nothing. So I've wiped my laptop and restarted it like it was a brand new laptop...still we're having these issues so I refuse to believe it's my laptop causing the problems. I've changed the chanel on the hub so many times it just doesn't make a difference. Tried different DSL adapters tried different cables even a wired connection causes problems. I am begining to think it's because the router has had it but I am willing to try anything at this point before asking for a new router from BT. Even BT don't seem to know what the problem is all they do is reset the routers chanel every single time I ring them.
So any advice or help would be greatly appreaciated
    Many Thanks
    Benjamin
PS - sorry for any grammar/spelling mistakes , I've written this in a hurry before the internet drops out again...

hi, my iphone is not connecting to wifi. there is no problem with the connection of wifi. i tried so much but the connection is not stable. some times it connect and sometimes not connecting at all. if connected also its disconnecting again.pls help

At the very least, I recommend you restart your router, (your internet box).
More detail on your problem is needed - are you in a submarine? On the moon? On a tropical island?
You can help yourself by providing as much info as you can about your present situation - what kind of router do you have? Have you moved it? DId you update it?  Did you do anything to change your setup, and if you did, what?
