Warning: Cache size set too large?

I've recently installed a SSD to work as a dedicated cache drive, and I've directed the 3 cache settings in AE (CS6) to it.
The drive is 240GB, but I can't put the cache size over 150GB without getting a warning that it's set too high. Is this true? Am I wasting almost 100GB?

Use your drive for something else. 150GB is a huge huge cache. The CS6 disk cache is glitchy anyway. I have mine turned off most of the time.

  • BW Web Report Issue - Result set too large

    Hi,
When I execute a BEx Query on Web I am getting “Result set too large ; data retrieval restricted by configuration (maximum = 500000 cells)”.
Following to my search in SDN I understood we can remove this restriction either across the BW system globally or for a specific query at WAD template.
In my 7x Web template I am trying to increase default max no of rows parameters, As per the below inputs from SAP Note: 1127156.
But I can’t find parameter “Size Restriction for Result Sets” for any of the web items (Analysis/Web Template properties/Data Provider properties)….in the WAD Web template
Please advise where/how can I locate the properites
    Instructions provided in SAP Note…
The following steps describe how to change the "safety belt" for Query Views:
    1. Use the context menu Properties / Data Provider in a BEx Web Application to maintain the "safety belt" for a Query View.
    2. Choose the register "Size Restriction for Result Sets".
    3. Choose an entry from the dropdown box to specify the maximum number of cells for the result set.
                  The following values are available:
    o Maximum Number
    o Default Number
    o Custom-Defined Number
Behind "Maximum Number" and "Default Number" you can find the current numbers defined in the customizing table RSADMIN (see below).
    4. Save the Query View and use it in another Web Template.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Yasemin,
Thanks for all help...i was off couple of days.
To activate it I can suggest to create a dummy template, add your query in it, add a menu bar component add an action to save the query view. Then you run the template and change the size restriction for result set then you can save it by the menu.
Can you please elaborate on the solution provided,I created dummy template with analysis and Menu bar item...i couldn't able to configure menu bar item...
    Thanks in advance

  • Dynamic Calc processor cannot lock more than [100] ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry(a small data cache setting could also cause this problem, please check the data cache size setting).

    Hi,
Our Environment is Essbase 11.1.2.2 and working on Essbase EAS and Shared Services components. One of our user tried to run the Cal Script of one Application and faced this error.
Dynamic Calc processor cannot lock more than [100] ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry(a small data cache setting could also cause this problem, please check the data cache size setting).
I have done some Google and found that we need to add something in Essbase.cfg file like below.
1012704 Dynamic Calc processor cannot lock more than number ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry (a small data cache setting could also cause this problem, please check the data cache size setting).
    Possible Problems
Analytic Services could not lock enough blocks to perform the calculation.
    Possible Solutions
Increase the number of blocks that Analytic Services can allocate for a calculation:
Set the maximum number of blocks that Analytic Services can allocate to at least 500.
If you do not have an $ARBORPATH/bin/essbase.cfg file on the server computer, create one using a text editor.
In the essbase.cfg file on the server computer, set CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH to 500.
    Stop and restart Analytic Server.
Add the SET LOCKBLOCK HIGH command to the beginning of the calculation script.
Set the data cache large enough to hold all the blocks specified in the CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH setting.
    Determine the block size.
    Set the data catche size.
Actually in our Server Config file(essbase.cfg) we dont have below data  added.
    CalcLockBlockHigh 2000
    CalcLockBlockDefault 200
    CalcLockBlocklow 50
So my doubt is if we edit the Essbase.cfg file and add the above settings and restart the services will it work?  and if so why should we change the Server config file if the problem is with one application Cal Script. Please guide me how to proceed.
    Regards,
    Naveen

Your calculation needs to hold more blocks in memory than your current set up allows.
From the docs (quoting so I don't have to write it, not to be a smarta***:
CALCLOCKBLOCK specifies the number of blocks that can be fixed at each level of the SET LOCKBLOCK HIGH | DEFAULT | LOW calculation script command.
When a block is calculated, Essbase fixes (gets addressability to) the block along with the blocks containing its children. Essbase calculates the block and then releases it along with the blocks containing its children. By default, Essbase allows up to 100 blocks to be fixed concurrently when calculating a block. This is sufficient for most database calculations. However, you may want to set a number higher than 100 if you are consolidating very large numbers of children in a formula calculation. This ensures that Essbase can fix all the required blocks when calculating a data block and that performance will not be impaired.
    Example
If the essbase.cfg file contains the following settings:
    CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH 500  CALCLOCKBLOCKDEFAULT 200  CALCLOCKBLOCKLOW 50
then you can use the following SET LOCKBLOCK setting commands in a calculation script:
    SET LOCKBLOCK HIGH;
means that Essbase can fix up to 500 data blocks when calculating one block.
Support doc is saying to change your config file so those settings can be made available for any calc script to use.
On a side note, if this was working previously and now isn't then it is worth investigating if this is simply due to standard growth or a recent change that has made an unexpected significant impact.

  • HT3142 Display size is too large on yahoo mail

My display size is too large on yahoo mail page only (page I need and use most). How do I correct it, please?
Changing the display selections from system preferences is not working.

There may be a control within the application you are running Yahoo.
Which browser are you using online to access Yahoo?
In the View menu bar of the open application, there may be a choice
to change the size of the display content in the window itself, check.
Some of these use a keyboard command, should the setting go to
Full Screen, you'd need to know the default or escape combination
of keys to restore the application's window to a standard size. This
kind of inside-application setting is not reflected System Wide.
Since I don't know the browser, (as I have five, each is different)
I can't recommend a keyboard combination to re-size the open
application's view or window setting. They can be non-standard.
But that likely is where you'd have to change it back to normal.
PS: Snow Leopard is Mac OS X 10.6.8.
    (Tiger is OS X 10.4.x)
    Good luck!

  • "File size is too large"

When I imported the only 4 files in a particular folder (scans of photos) into the Organiser, the message "File size is too large" came up for two of them instead of preview images, although do appear to have been added to the Catalog as their MB size, pixel dimensions and creation date show in the Properies General tab.
I take it this must relate to pixel count and not the file size per se as the two tifs (13.2 and 13.3 MB but 1792 x 2508 and 2518 x 1798 pixels) are fine, while the two JPGs (12.9 and 30.8 MB and 9616 x 6480 and 7048 x 10376) are the ones without preview images?
I wasn't aware of this as a problem, so can anybody tell me please, have I just set too low a limit somewhere or is there a real restriction?
And is this new to PSE6 or something that's been around for a while?
    Thanks, Peter

    I have a 212mb psd file (a panorama).   I have Elements 6.0 and 4 meg RAM, Vista.
I went through the regedit process as outlined in Adobe Technote kb402760 and upped it to 1,000,000,000.  I would think that would have given enough headroom for my file size.  But it didn't.  I still have the generic "file size too large" on my thumbnails.
I did note that the tech note had a different location for the Software/Adobe/Elements 6.0/Organizer (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ ) from the location in my file structure.  In fact, this string was listed in at least three places OTHER THAN the one indicated in the Technote.  How likely is it that adding "MaxImageSize" to the Elements 6.0 register locations other than specifically indicated is the reason why the file size capacity was not increased.  Why doesn't Elements show up in the location indicated by the Tech Note?
NOTE FOR ADOBE:  Why isn't this a more easily accessible option in the user interface?  If I have a large file that slows things down a bit on my thumbnails, that could be my choice.  This artificial constraint built into the regedits that no one goes to is too much like parental controls for 5 year olds.

  • Result Set Too Large : Data Retrieval restricted by configuration

    Hi Guys,
I get the above error when running a large dataset, with a hierarchy on - but when I run without a hierarchy I am able to show all data.
The Basis guys increased the ESM buffer (rsdb/esm/buffersize_kb) but it still causes an issue.
Anyone any ideas when it comes to reporting large volumes with a hierarchy?
    Much appreciated,
    Scott

    Hi there
I logged a message on service marketplace andg got this reply from SAP:
' You might have to increase the value for parameters
    BICS_DA_RESULT_SET_LIMIT_DEF and BICS_DA_RESULT_SET_LIMIT_MAX as it
seems that the result set is still too large. Please check your
parameters as to how many data cells you should expect and set the
    parameter accordingly.
The cells are the number of data points that would be send from abap
to java. The zero suppression or parts of the result suppression are
done afterwards. As a consequence of this, the number of displayed
data cells might differ from the threshold that is effective.
Starting with SPS 14 you get the information how many data cells are
rejected. That gives you better ways to determine the right setting.
Currently you need to raise the number to e.g. 2.000.000 to get all
    data.
If BICS_DA_RESULT_SET_LIMIT_MAX is set to a lower value than
BICS_DA_RESULT_SET_LIMIT_DEF, it would automatically cut the value of
    BICS_DA_RESULT_SET_LIMIT_DEF down to its own..
Please note that altough this parameter can be increased via
configuration, you should do a proper system sizing according to note
927530 to ensure that the system can handle the number of users and
    resultset sizes you are expecting."
Our basis team have subsequently apllied these changes, and I will be testing today.
    Thx

  • Result set too large in BI report; Safety belt settings in WAD

    Hello All,
When we run a BI report, the error " Result set is too large; data retrieval restricted by configuration" appears. We did a search on SAP portal and found the SAP note 1127156, whics recommends the configuaration of safety belt to limit memory used.
Acoordingly the cust table RSADMIN has been configured. But on the web template side, we need to configure the changes as well. The note says:
    Maximum Number
    Default Number
    Custom-Defined Number
Behind "Maximum Number" and "Default Number" you can find the current numbers defined in the customizing table RSADMIN (see below).
    4. Save the Query View and use it in another Web Template."
I am trying to locate these options in the context menu in Web Applications designer but in vain.
    Can anyone help...

This option is not available in WAD, it will be available when you run the web template under settings, Data Provider for the standard template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN.
If you have a custom template you will have to use the Dataprovider settings web item in your custom template to change the values during runtime.

  • Ics50deletelog.db size getting too large

I 've been watching this file (ics50deletelog.db) on our Sun calendar. It is currently over 1,200,000 KB - way too big for my taste. What is this file storing? Is there any way to reduce the size?
    Please help

I can see that entries are being removed, but at a painfully slow pace. Is there any way to completely clear this log database? If your users are making use of the Outlook Connector I wouldn't recommend completely clearing the database.
I have a clean install of calendar server on other system with an empty delete log database. Could I simply replace the oversized one with this and restart the calendar server? If the objective is to shrink the size of the database, you could first try dumping/reloading the database e.g.
    1. Stop the calendar instance
    cd /opt/SUNWics5/cal/sbin
    ./stop-cal
    2. Verify the current database, keep a record of the output for comparison
    ./csdb check
    3. Dump the database to a txt file.
    cd /opt/SUNWics5/cal/tools/unsupported/bin
    export DB_HOME=/var/opt/SUNWics5/csdb/
    ./db_checkpoint -1
    ./db_archive
    ./db_dump -r /var/opt/SUNWics5/csdb/ics50deletelog.db > /var/tmp/ics50deletelog.db.txt
    4. Reload the database to a temporary db file.
    ./cs_dbload /var/tmp/ics50deletelog.db < /var/tmp/ics50deletelog.db.txt
    5. Keep a backup of the the old deletelog database and move the new db into place
    cp -p /var/opt/SUNWics5/csdb/ics50deletelog.db /var/tmp/ics50deletelog.db.orig
    cp /var/tmp/ics50deletelog.db /var/opt/SUNWics5/csdb/
    6. Verify the database, compare the output with the previous ./csdb check to ensure they are the same
    ./csdb check
    7. Restart the calendar serverI would recommend running through these steps in your test-environment first to ensure you are comfortable with this prior to trying them in production.

  • App size not (too large within window) correct can...

When the app loads for me the contents inside are bigger than the window itself. This means I can't see the IM bit at the bottom of conversations and options page and things like that.
Anyone know how to reset the setting on the app i have tried uninstalling and re-installing. Basically as soon as it loads you can see the central loading icon jump to what it must think is center of my display but its not resulting in large portions of the app not being visible.
    Thanks!

Can you click on the 'Restore Window' button and manually resize the LR window.
If that doesn't work try resetting your LR Preference file:

  • Form Size becoming Too large

    Hello,
I have a very strange problem.
I designed a fillable form using Designer7.0. I reader enabled the form using Adobe Reader Extensions Server 7.0, so that users use their Adobe reader(7.0.5) to fill in the form. The empty PDF form is around 700KB in size.
Now, When the user filled the form manually typing the data(25KB data) in the form and saved it. It saved as 60 MB file. I cannot justify this increase of the size anyways to my authorities. I am looking forward to hearing from you so that I can tell then what can be the possible reasons for this.
Also One more observation. When I imported the 25KB XML file into the empty form and save it, it is just 1.1MB in size.
Please help me understand whats going behind the scenes?
    Thank you for your attention
    Sam

    Hi,
I had a similar problem with a pdf created in LCD. If you ever open a pdf form in LCD and see a message about it being Reader Enabled and that you have to overwrite it, you likely have the same problem I had... My file went from less than 300 kb to more than 16 Mb... and back to around 300 kb with the following solution...
For a reason not very clear, once a file has been applied the Reader Enabled  feature inside Acrobat, if we open it again inside LCD it kind of keeps a memory  and every time we save it adds to it.
What I had to do is  open the pdf file in Acrobat, reapply the Reader Enabled feature (LCD asked me  to remove it when I opened it inside of it) and then do a File --> Save a copy. It  removes the right and all the “memory” of the file and brings it back to a small  file (about 300kb in my case, instead of the more than 15Mo it was  then)!
So, now, every time  that I need to edit a file, I first do a Save a copy in Acrobat (only available  if the pdf has been Reader Enabled) and open it in LCD. No more  problems…

  • Unable to run reports due to too large set size

    Hello guys
I am creating a report with almost 12 columns. I know it has a lot of data. When I tried to add one more column which is day column, it gives me the following errors:
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. Essbase Error: Internal error: Set is too large to be processed. Set size exceeds 2^32 tuples. (HY000)
    SQL Issued: SELECT Brand."Brand Name" saw_0, Brand.Product saw_1, Offer."Offer Name" saw_2, "Subscription Offer_Cost"."Offer Cost" saw_3, "Continuity Cycle"."Cont Cycle" saw_4, "Acquisition Date"."Acquisition Month" saw_5, "Acquisition Date"."Acquisition Day" saw_6, "Retention Status".Status saw_7, Level."Subscription Leve" saw_8, SUM(CASE WHEN Level."Subscription Leve" = '0' THEN retntion."Count Of Orders" ELSE 0 END by "Acquisition Date"."Acquisition Month", Offer."Offer Name") saw_9, CASE WHEN Level."Subscription Leve" > '0' THEN retntion."Count Of Orders" ELSE 0 END saw_10, (CASE WHEN Level."Subscription Leve" > '0' THEN retntion."Count Of Orders" ELSE 0 END/SUM(CASE WHEN Level."Subscription Leve" = '0' THEN retntion."Count Of Orders" ELSE 0 END by "Acquisition Date"."Acquisition Month", Offer."Offer Name"))*100 saw_11 FROM retention_cube WHERE ("Acquisition Date"."Acquisition Month" BETWEEN '2009 Feb' AND '2009 Jan') ORDER BY saw_7 DESC
It's probably because the data size is too big for querry to return. Is there a way I can fix this error and still get the report with the new columns?
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated..

Well of course it is. (Set too large I mean)
    SUM(CASE WHEN Level."Subscription Leve" = '0' THEN retntion."Count Of Orders" ELSE 0 END by "Acquisition Date"."Acquisition Month", Offer."Offer Name") saw_9,
    CASE WHEN Level."Subscription Leve" > '0' THEN retntion."Count Of Orders" ELSE 0 END saw_10,
    (CASE WHEN Level."Subscription Leve" > '0' THEN retntion."Count Of Orders" ELSE 0 END/SUM(CASE WHEN Level."Subscription Leve" = '0' THEN retntion."Count Of Orders" ELSE 0 END by "Acquisition Date"."Acquisition Month", Offer."Offer Name"))*100 saw_11
THAT is the way to kill a query going against Essbase. Just check out the MDX that generates in the background (i.e. read the log!) and try to fire that through SmartView. It will work until you hit a low grain on one of the dimensions. The time dimension being a perfect example.
Stuff like what you're trying to do should either be
    - account members in Essbase,
    - MDX EVALUATE_AGGR expressions in the RPD with the correct aggragation level set or
    - MDX EVALUATE expressions in answers.
Push the number crunching and aggregating as far down the foodchain as you can. Everything will almost automatically result in failures.
    Cheers,

  • Font size too large on itunes summary page . Half the words are cut off.

How to change font size on the itunes summary page? Currently font size is too large resulting in sentences being cut off.

Did you increase the minimum font size?
If you increased the minimum font size then try a lower setting (default is ''none'') as a too high value can cause issues like you described.
Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors: Advanced > Minimum Font Size
Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors: Advanced > "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

    Hi All,
When trying to execute the web template by giving less restiction we are getting the below error :
Result set is too large; data retrieval restricted by configuration
Result set too large (758992 cells); data retrieval restricted by configuration (maximum = 500000 cells)
But when we try to increase the number of restictions it is giving output. For example if we give fiscal period, company code ann Brand we are able to get output. But if we give fical period alone it it throwing the above error.
Note : We are in SP18.
Whether do we need to change some setting in configuration? If we yes where do we need to change or what else we need to do to remove this error
    Regards
    Karthik

    Hi Karthik,
the standard setting for web templates is to display a maximum amount of 50.000 cells. The less you restrict your query the more data will be displayed in the report. If you want to display more than 50.000 cells the template will not be executed correctly.
In general it is advisable to restrict the query as much as possible. The more data you display the worse your performance will be. If you have to display more data and you execute the query from query designer or if you use the standard template you can individually set the maximum amount of cells. This is described over  [here|Re: Bex Web 7.0 cells overflow].
However I do not know if (and how) you can set the maximum amount of cells differently as a default setting for your template. This should be possible somehow I think, if you find a solution for this please let us know.
    Brgds,
    Marcel
