Wccp support on 1700

Hi,
I have a question on wccp support on 1700 router running ipbase image. once wccp ver 2 and service 61 and 62 are enabled on the router, it forms a service group with the engine and it sees the wae but once redirection 61 on the lan interface and 62 on the wan interface is enabled, no redirection takes place. the redirection doesnt occur and no traffic is redirected. What could be the problem. Does it have anything to do with the image running on the router?
Thanks.

Dotun,
What version of 12.3 and what version of WAAS? I would recommend looking at least IOS version 12.3(13) or 12.3(14)T5 depending on what train you are using. Do you mind posting your configs from the WAEs and router? That might help determine what is happening.
Also do a couple of commands on the wae:
sh wccp router
sh wccp wide
sh wccp gre
On the router do:
sh ip wccp
sh ip wccp 61 detail
sh ip wccp 62 detail
Thanks,
Dan

  • Does WCCP support traffic from different VLANs(mapped to VRFs)?

    Hello,
I have the following scenario from the WAN to the Data Center and from the WAN to the Branch:
    1. Router 2800/7200 with three (3) MPLS VRFs (VRF Lite)
    2. Switch 3750 with three (3) WAN VLANs (one for each VRF) and three (3) LAN User Traffic VLANs (one for each ASA Context) and one WAE VLAN
    3. WAE with WCCP enabled for one VLAN in the switch
    4. ASA with three (3) Contexts
    5. Three (3) Internal LANs (one for each Context)
In summary, there are three flows of traffic which are separated along the way from Branch to Data Center. WAEs are working for one VLAN(VRF1) and WCCP is enabled at the 3750 Switch to do the redirection (not in the router). The question is: does WCCP support traffic from different VLANs (similar to inline 802.1Q) and handle all three flows separate? If so, what should the configuration be at the switch and the WAE?
    Thanks.

The VRF awareness for 12.4(T) is still probably 8-12 months out. VRF aware WCCP features are definitely in the pipeline, but nothing has been publically published on availability timelines.
It's now publically available on the forum... but , I've only found it on the 3750 and 3550 documentation.
at the 3750 you will need to place the redirect statement on each of the VLANs, ip wccp 61 redirect in

  • WCCP Supported on Cat 3560?

Anyone know *first-hand* if WCCP is supported on Catalyst 3650s? and with what code revs?
Posted documentation on CCO seems to conflict both itself and with the CCO feature navigator -- I actually bought a pair of 3750s based on several published documents saying WCCP is supported -- only to find out that is not the case. There is even more documentation (including a how-to configuration doc) on enabling WCCP on a 3550 and 3650 switch -- yet the feature navigator says WCCP isn't supported on ANY Catalyst switches except 6500s.
Anyone know the deal for sure?
    -Jeremy

    Hi Jeremy
we do not support WCCP on either platform. It _is_ on the roadmap, but at this time, there is no ETA for supporting the feature. There are several mentions of WCCP support in the documentation, but they are in error, and documentation bugs have been filed to get this fixed.

  • ACE as cache engine for wccp redirection

Does anybody know if the ACE 4710 appliance supports WCCP acting as a web-cache engine? I am exausting all possible options, and then some, for deploying a new application networking environment. I just returned from ACE training last week and found myself ramping up to deploy a new ACE.
I have pretty much exhausted my options for topology. We discussed several different designs in class and I don't like any of them. I have some serious problems with using the ACE as a default-gateway for servers. That options is out due to how other "non application" traffic is handled. Traffic such as RDP from IT support staff, patching from SMS servers, virus dat updates, vulnerability scanning... it all routes to the ACE which has to have static routes... then clients hitting the application VIPs have to be natted so the ACE does not use the static routes and reply directly... it all becomes a very big problem over time.
Second and third options are one-armed and direct server return... both not suitable for my requirements.
Now... that leaves me with an option we currently have deployed. That is to use a distribution route-switch (Catalyst 4500 Sup-IV) in the middle. The Cat uses PBR to return http traffic from the web servers back to the ACE. All other traffic follows normal routing table.
Ok... that works perfect... except PBR is not supported in the Sup-6 engine. Unbelievable... I know. This is a major fly in the ointment for this new deployment.
Now... there is another protocol that is often used for redirection... WCCP. If the ACE were a wccp web-cache, the router could be configured to redirect ingress http to the ACE. But... the ACE would have to act as a web-cache engine and register with the Cat as a home-router.
I am sure this option is not an option... but it would be nice. The ACE 4710 appliance has the general processor to do it but it would have to be implemented in software. I'm running A3(1.0) and I cannot find anything related to wccp. Nothing in the command-reference.
If there are any Cisco developers interested in adding some killer funtionality... this would be it. Wccp can be done in layer-2 as well as layer-3. The Sup-6 supports layer-2 redirection. Since the ACE is generally layer-2 adjacent this would be rather easy to implement. Anyway... food for thought.

I just would like to mention that you could have ACE in bridge mode inserted between your servers and the gateway (4500).
All traffic will go through ACE but no need for nating and no statc routes (just one default route pointing to the 4500).
The only problems would be if you exceed the BW of the 4710 with all your traffic.
Regarding the WCCP support for the 4710 this is not currently in our roadmap.
Ask your cisco account team to introduce the request.
    Thanks,
    Gilles.

  • WCCP redirections over IPv6

    Hi,
I've a question related to WCCP and IPv6.
Let's imagine a web-cache cluster, all the nodes dual stack (IPv4+IPv6) and all of them supporting WCCP (also IPv4+IPv6) for transparent web-cache, so they can cache either IPv6 or IPv4 web pages.
Let's imagine one Cisco router that is also dual-stack and having WCCP support (AFAIK only for IPv4). I assume that the router and the web-cache nodes are able to communicate to each other through either IPv6 and/or IPv4 for any protocol different than WCCP. For WCCP only communication through IPv4 is feasible (IPv4 only support for WCC in the cisco router).
My question is what about the port-80 IPv6 traffic (http queries indeed) forwarded to the router from the user's hosts?
Would such a traffic be forwarded to the external IPv6 HTTP public server (like no-http traffic)?
Would such a traffic be forwarded to the web-cache farm (like IPv4-http traffic does) in spite of WCCP supports only IPv4?
In other words, the IPv4-only-WCCP capable cisco router (but dual-stack) inspects only the IPv4 packets looking for the TCP-80 port or it does it also for IPv6 packets?
    Regards

  • WCCP on cisco 3725

Hi..I am beginner in WCCP technology. What is the minimum IOS version on the cisco 3725 to configure the WCCP?

WCCP is supported on the Content Engine software. The Cisco 2600/3600/3700 Series content engine modules support Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(13)T and later. This link provides Web Cache Communication Protocol (WCCP) support for Cisco IOS software and Cisco Content Engine software.

  • WAAS: ASR for WCCP redirect

Has anyone deployed an ASR for WCCP redirection? How stable is this platform?

    DG,
    I work for Cisco Systems.
WCCP support on ASR has been there for a while now. Many of our customers do run WCCP on ASR and happy with the stability and performance. As you may know it is a h/w based platform and hence it processes WCCP in h/w. Pl ensure that you are using mask assignment to take advantage of h/w processing on ASR.

  • Router IOS requirements to work with WAAS WCCP?

Can some help me with up to date switch and router IOS requirements to work with WAAS WCCP configuration? There used to be a Cisco document explaining that but I can't find it any more.
Here is out WAAS 4.2.3 deployment in the network:
Data center: Cat6500 Sup720-3B running IOS 12.2(18)SXF12a will do WCCP L2 redirection. I've seen minimum Sup720 IOS requirement of 12.2(18)SXF13 in one place and 12.2(18)SXF16 in another, but there are also examples of using 12.2 (18) SXF5. Which one is the latest Cisco recommendation?
Remote sites: 3825 and 3845 routers (some are running 12.4 T train and some are in 12.4 main line) will do WCCP GRE redirection to WAE's. One of the routers will use a WAE-NME-522 module. Others are WAE applicances. Again, what are the latest Cisco recommendations?
Another question: for an IOS release, does it matter which package to use, such as advanced IP services, enterprise services, or SP services?
    Thanks a lot.

    Here you go.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/contnetw/ps5680/ps6870/white_paper_c11-608042.html
For IOS release, you will need a package that has WCCP support.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone 5 Calls and Texts Failing

I have been having this issue since upgrading to an IPhone 5.  This problem is especially frustrating as my husband and daughter use the same carrier (AT&T) and have an Iphone 5S and an Iphone 4S respectively with no problems.  My problem seems to have been exacerbated by the latest update (7.1.2) and affects me the most in or near my home or other rural areas.  I can literally sit and watch them talk away (even if they call the same person I was talking to) but I repeatedly drop to Edge or get  "Call Failed" which is what leads me to believe it is my phone.  I also have to make multiple attempts to send a text message because they often fail also.  I have done everything Apple has asked, including sending them diagnostics info (where the customer service rep claimed she didn't see any of my dropped calls).  I recently "reset the phone as new" and not from a backup,  again with no results (and now no contacts either, woo hoo!).  I have also had my SIM card replaced and reseated twice.  I turn LTE off and Data Roaming off as some forums have suggested.  AT&T has confirmed my account is set up correctly.  I finally started looking into the problem myself, or specifically, looking for the differences between my phone and the others.  The articles I found regarding the first Iphone 5's released is that they did not support the 1700 MHz cell phone frequency used by T-Mobile.  At first I figured that didn't have anything to do with me but when I read more about the people who'd tried to use the first Iphone 5 on T-Mobile their symptoms were the same: multiple call failures and switching straight to Edge (which is 2G) instead of 3G.  I looked at the coverage area maps in my area, and, surprisingly, T-Mobile's signal is stronger near my house than AT&T.  My guess is my family's phones roam to T-Mobile while mine stays with AT&T's lower 2G signal and then drops.  Of course Apple quietly stopped making the Iphone 5 that didn't support 1700 MHz/T-Mobile (Oops!).  I am having trouble posting the link here but here is one of the shorter articles about it:
As you all know by now, T-Mobile will begin offering the iPhone 5 officially from Friday this week (April 12). But, some of you will already have your own iPhones, and could be tempted to switch to the carriers attractive price plans. In years gone by, iPhones haven’t supported the Magenta-flavored 3G/HSPA+ bandwidths, leaving iPhone wielding Tmo customers stuck on a slow EDGE network. With the iPhone 5, it’s changed. There’s a chance that your device is compatible.
If you have an A1428 model iPhone 5, it will connect to T-Mobile’s AWS bands (1700/2100), here’s how to check if yours does:
Go to Settings –> General –>  About.
Check the last 4 digits of your serial number to see if they match these combinations:
    FH19
    FH1C
    FH1D
    FH1F
    FH1G
    FH1H
You can also locate your iPhone 5 box and verify that the label includes “1700/2100″ under the UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA bands.
I would really be interested to know if those of you having trouble have the "old" Iphone5 like I do (serial numbers that end in other digits, mine ends with DTTN).  Maybe once we present Apple with irrefutable evidence and numbers they will give us the newer version of the phone.  The phone that won't support T-Mobile also won't support many international networks either for those of us that travel internationally.
If not, I guess that's what I get for getting the device early (I usually try not to as there is always some kind of bug).  I just really needed the upgrade as my husband was going to Iraq and could IMessage me over wifi without paying an arm and a leg.
Please let me know if anyone else is having the same problem with the same (older) Iphone 5 (check your serial number against the list above).

It would be worth getting a new SIM, just to see if that helps any. You may want to contact your carrier and have them double-check things with your account.
I know the SIM works on another device, but getting a new one is still worth a shot. Get one, restore your phone as new & try one more time. If still no joy, you may have a defective phone that needs to be replaced.

  • HT204065 Group text with one non iPhone not working on iPhone 6 in the group.

Group text with one non iPhone not working on one iPhone 6 in group. SMS, MMS and iMessage as well as group messaging are all turned on. Has worked intermittently but now cannot see or respond in that particular chain. Can send independently to the non iPhone (Samsung) but not in group. Other iPhone 6 and 5 in group work fine.

The reason why you have to turn off 3Gs is because T-Mobile does not support iPhones 1700 something or other. You have to turn off the 3Gs on the iPhone to make it work.
As already provided, it shouldn't matter since the iPhone is designed to automatically connect to the fastest internet connection available. If wi-fi access and 3G network access is on, when in range of an available wi-fi network you have access to and have connected your iPhone with previously, the iPhone will connect to the wi-fi network automatically. When leaving the range of the wi-fi network, the iPhone will connect to the 3G network if 3G network access is available. If 3G network access is not available, the iPhone will connect to EDGE or GPRS - whichever is available at the time.
If this is unique to T-Mobile's network with the iPhone for some reason since T-Mobile is not an official carrier for the iPhone in the U.S. and you were instructed by T-Mobile to do so, then you need to do so.
If this is not working now, the problem lies with T-Mobile and I have no idea what to tell them for them to recognize where the problem lies on their end.

  • Nokia N9 Pre-Sales Questions

    Hello
I am interested in purchasing the N9 as the price now is attractive. I have some questions.
1: Only the International Version is for sale. I am in the US. Other than no Warranty, is there anything I should know?
    2: I am on T-Mobile. I believe the N9 supports the 1700/2100 spectrum, correct? I should get 3.5G right?
3: Has Nokia been pushing any OS updates? If so, I am in the US, will I get them?
4: Any difference between 16 and 64G versions (other than ram)?
5: Does N9 accept data card?
    6: Is Nokia Maps supported?
7: Most Important: How is the Music Player?
    This will probably be my last Nokia: 5300, 5800, X6, C6-01, ???
    Thanks for your feedback!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Adding my $ 0.02 as an N9 owner since February:
1: Only the International Version is for sale. I am in the US. Other than no Warranty, is there anything I should know?
Reading the Maemo and Meego Devices forum, some people have had problems iwth scratches in the screen. Since the latest update, using the video player that comes with the N9, it has become choppy. Other than that, I haven't had many problems with mine.
    2: I am on T-Mobile. I believe the N9 supports the 1700/2100 spectrum, correct? I should get 3.5G right?
Yes. I'm on T-Mobile. I've had no problems, and as aspergerguy said, it's pentaband, so if AT&T ever does buy T-Mobile, or you switched to AT&T, it would still be useable.
3: Has Nokia been pushing any OS updates? If so, I am in the US, will I get them?
Yep. I got my first update (the second one since the N9 was released), about a week after I got my phone.
4: Any difference between 16 and 64G versions (other than ram)?
None that I have heard about.
5: Does N9 accept data card?
Nope. Completely closed phone. 64 GB though is alot of memory.
    6: Is Nokia Maps supported?
Thankfully, yes. Along with Drive. Although, I don't think it's updated as often as Symbian or Windows phones.
7: Most Important: How is the Music Player?
The music player is great. You can actually choose by album title. Sound coming from it is good, but the speaker is on the bottom of the phone, so make sure you position the phone so you can hear the sound coming out of it!

    Thanks

    Hi,
Not sure where you saw 12.2(37) i.e. without the "SE" at the end, as far as I know there is only one version - the IOS12.2(37)SE
It does support WCCP, as follows:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps5023/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a008081df96.html
Note that WCCP is a new feature in this release and a lot of the docs (even the feature navigator) haven't caught up yet and still say it's unsupported. And finally, you need at least an "IP Services" image to get wccp support.
