Web Control 2.2 B and body .. tags & duplicated control IDs samples
1) Release note says that body, head, html tag are strupped out. However, I can see these extra tags when I do view source. Did I forget somehing?
2) Do you have any sample that actually changes the control id in OnPreRender() method? None of the samples I have seen so far do not change the control ID! Without changing the control ID I guess I would run into the Unique Naming issue if I have 2 portlets created from the same Plumtree Web Service? FYI: I did not change the control ID and the 2 portlets work (!?) .. until I added OnPreRender() then it stops working!?
Thanks

Why would one put a percentage on the HTML and Body tags?
http://cssremix.com/visit/handcrafted-css/
On the above site there is a percentage placed on the HTML tag and body tag.
Dose this control the scale of the page or just the type on the page?
If so I would like to know how I may control are elements on the page using percentage.
That is if all the elements on the page are scaled depending on how big the browser window is.This may help as well:

Every inlineframe generates HTML, head and body tag - how to remove it
Hi,
I am using inlineframe for adding HTML content. For every inlineframe, HTML, head and body tag is generated.
How to get rid out of those HTML, head and body tags?
please suggest
Edited by: user10302920 on Feb 2, 2011 3:59 AMHi,
not sure the component is generating this. Must come from the HTML source you reference. If however it is the inline frame then this is not configurable

How to add src, alt and title tags to a PS generated Web Photo Gallery
I do some web design and need to add some tags to a web photo gallery created by Photoshop. Maybe this question should be directed to the GoLive / Dreamweaver Forum but since the gallery was created in PS I thought I'd start here.
I need to add src, alt and title tags to the images in the web gallery. Normally this is as simple as working on the code in the html page in which the image sits but the PS gallery doesn't seem to be that simple.
Can anyone tell me exactly how, and which files I need to work on, to add these tags to each of my 42 gallery images?
Thanks.
John.You can't do it in Photoshop.
You can open the pages in a text editor adn easily ad any tags you want. They are simply html pages.
If you really want to, you can use Dreamweaver or Golive. Using a text editor is generally faster and easier because you can just copy/paste between the files and not have to worry about code rewriting in the WYSIWYG applications. Don't believe the GoLive/Dreamweaver hype about "round trip code" they both will alter code. -
Using body tags AND section tags in same RTF?
I am trying to create a custom printed PO form in RTF. The requirement is to have certain info be on the header of each page. Due to the complexity of the header, I opted to not use the native Word support for headers/footers and instead used the <?start:body?> tag. The for-each grouping occurs before the "header" and well before the body tag. That worked great. However, when I try to use the form to print more than one PO at a time, it instead prints the header for however many POs there are in the file before printing the lines. Obviously not what I want. I tried adding the "@section" tag to the <?for-each?> tag, but for some reason that causes nothing whatsoever to print - I get blank pages.
SO, can the body tags be used within the grouping section tags? Any thoughts on why this isn't working for me? Any help on how to accomplish this would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

Silverlight 5 WebBrowser Control - Is the SL5 WebBrowser control is set to work in IE7 mode only? I have a 3rd party web site I'm hosting and now they will not work with IE 7 Compatibility mode. Looks like this control can't detect I'm setup for IE 9. I'm
running IE 11 with registry hack for IE 9. I think the SL5 webbrowser control is set to work only in IE 7. can some one verify this or tell me how to set the WebBrowser control up to run either IE8, 9, 10 or 11? I have same issue with machines running IE 8
and above. This Silverlight 5 application is running out of browser with the elevated privileges (hack) and at test certificates install in proper stores. This application has been running for 2.5 years. Vender switch on some changes a couple days ago that
broke this application. Help!!Hi,
It seems there is nothing to do with IE mode.
Please make sure your link still can be accessed.
The WebBrowser displays HTML content in applications running in a Silverlight 4 or later out-of-browser applications or in Silverlight 5 in-browser trusted applications only.

Trying to add img scr, alt and title tags to a Photoshop created web gallery.
I need to add some tags to a web photo gallery created by Photoshop. I've posted the same question in the PS Forum just in case.
I need to add img src, alt and title tags to the images in the web gallery. Normally this is as simple as working on the code in the html page in which the image sits but the PS gallery doesn't seem to be that simple. I'm not sure exactly what file to put these tags in.

John.The gallery is a mess and I might just rebuilt it using something else like Jalbum, but here it is: http://thewoodshopmalvern.com/ThumbnailGallery/index.htm
Yes, I'm sorry, I'm trying to add ATTRIBUTES to the <img> tag.
For the rest of the site I have simply gone to each of the html pages and updated the code itself - pretty straightforward. But PS seems to use Javascript in making this gallery and unfortunately I just don't know enough about Java to understand exactly where I need to add these attributes. -
Tomcat 4.1.12 and custom tags with body
Hi,
I had deployed one application in tomcat 3.3.1 which used custom tags with body, and it worked fine, However recently I upgraded that application to tomcat-4.1.12
and the tags with body stopped giving expected behaviour, however the tags without body are giving expected behaviour, I had a look at generated jsp file...
I am pasting the generated output here

What I found out that scriptlets are also encluded in string however they should not be enclosed.
Is it a bug? or do I need to change my taghandler class...?
Any suggestion, any help ll be really helpful

SusheelHi,
I am able to resolve it,
Actually I was using the body content as tagdependent instead of jsp.
However the body content tagdependent works in Tomcat 3.3.1 and weblogic 5.1, 6.0.

Error in body tag handling in WLS 7.0
Hi,
I've tried to port an Web Application to WLS 7.0. This app was originally developed

of our custom tags seems to be equal. But on WLS 7.0 I've found out, that tags, implemented
as body tags (in my special case the bodycontent was declared as "tagdependent")
are completely ignored when no body is given. For example if the tag is used in an
JSP like
<prefix:mytag>
</prefix:mytag>
the tag works. If the tag is used like
<prefix:mytag/>
It is completely ignored. The resulting HTML page still contains <prefix:mytag/>.
Because the behaviour was different in releases pre 7.0 i assume this is a new bug
in WLS 7.0.

Christian
I've found out, that BodyTags which are declared as "tagdependent" in the tld file
are completely ignored if no body is given. You can see this if you take a look at
the generated servlet class.
BodyTags which are declared as "JSP" do work with empty body.

[Announcement: Java server-side web controls] - TICL 1.0 Final Released
Hello JSP developers,
We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of TICL (Tag Interface
Component Library) 1.0 Final Release. TICL is library of server-side user
interface components accessible through JSP tags. Like a conventional
desktop toolkit, the components maintain state and manage interaction logic
with the end-user with little or no assistance from the programmer.
Read more about TICL at http://www.kobrix.com/ticl/ticlmain.jsp.
If you are already a TICL user, check out the release notes at
http://www.kobrix.com/ticl/releasenotes.jsp for the latest changes.
More info
One of the major goals of TICL is to bring RAD-like development to the WEB
platform. Programmers can concentrate on logical functionality and build JSP
pages by placing TICL components through tags and responding to user events.
Every component is self-contained and manages interaction with the end-user.
Visual appearance of components is abstracted into a high-level styles
framework. In fact, TICL is probably the only server-side Java toolkit that
rivals Microsoft ASP.NET's web controls.
The library is tailored more towards WEB application development, rather
than content only oriented sites. It is designed to quickly build clean,
robust, well-structured and therefore highly maintainable code. It
integrates seemlessly into existing JSP applications and it will work on any
standard compliant JSP 1.1 container (e.g. Tomcat 3.2.1 and above, Resin
etc.) and with fairly recent versions of the popular browsers.
Core features are:
- A powerful and extensible server-side event model. Component-end user
interaction is encapsulated into a well defined set of server-side events.
You can of course define event listeners, develop custom events, event
filters etc.
- Predefined components like panels, tabbed panels, tree views, DHTML menus,
table views. Most can perform their interaction with the end-user at the
browser through DHTML or by making a trip back to server on every user
action (like expanding a tree node or minimizing a panel) - that is
components are either "client" or "server" managed.
- Smart browser handling. A complete framework for dealing with browser
(user agent) capabilities, including detection of dynamic properties like
connection speed, screen resolution, available plugins etc.; supporting JSP
tags; on the fly selection of component rendering based on the current user
agent.
- A high-level styles framework for complete customization of the look&feel
of components. Styles can be organized into themes. An inheritence mechanism
of style objects provides for a powerful high-level structuring. The
framework allows for a clean separation between look&feel and functional
behaviour of GUI elements. No more copy&paste, no more code cluttering with
tedious, browser-specific HTML details - consistency of look&feel can be
easily achieved by maintaining a single TICL style sheet, a simple XML file,
that is applied to all pages in your WEB application.
- Full encapsulation of HTML forms, including a file upload component,
augmented with things such as server-side command handlers, labels and DHTML
tooltips. Form fields are typed, true server-side components. Not limited to
the standard HTML form fields, they operate on a high level and custom ones
can be developed and plugged into the framework.
- A very powerful and easy to use declarative form validation mechanism
(both client and server-side). You define validation rules and handlers for
invalid forms in a clean, declarative way. The same rules you define can be
applied at the client (through automatic generation of the necessary
JavaScript) or at the server. Special purpose syntax allows you to easily
handle interdependencies between field values.
- A Data Objects framework integrated with TICL forms. Allows you to
manipulate complex aggregate structures and associate them with forms for
automatic mapping to/from form field values and data object fields (e.g.
Java beans). A type mapping framework allows you to map any form field type
to any Java type.
- An integration module for the popular Struts framework is provided also.
For example, it is possible to use the powerful TICL form tags with Struts'
ActionForms.
TICL is FREE for non-commercial and non-govermental use, and for an
unlimited evaluation period. It comes with an extensive, over 200 pages,
Reference Manual. To download it, please goto http://www.kobrix.com and
select Downloads from the TICL pulldown menu. If you are not already a TICL
user, you may need to register first.
We sincerely hope you will enjoy TICL and are looking forward to your
feedback!

http://www.kobrix.comThis looks quite nice. I'm going to evaluate it now, but I wish it was open-source....
Judging from the release notes, it's been around for a while. Has anybody had any experience with this product? Is it reliable? Does it scale well? -
Multiple Body tags error when using library items
Hi all,
I have a navbar that I created in FW and exported as a DW
library item. When I drag and drop the library item (navbar) into a
site page, I get an error every time I try to save that page. The
error states that the body tag was in the wrong place and has been
moved to the right place. The problem is never fixed though and I
keep being spammed by the error dialog.
In reviewing the code, it appears that the library item has
its own body and preload. So adding the library item to the page
causes a duplication of the body tags and preload images code.
Any thoughts as to how I can fix this or avoid it would be
greatly appreciated.You are right, no <htm> <body> or css styles go
into a library item.

Query about tag extensions and custom tags
Hello,
Can u please clarify me where are these tag extensions and custom tags are actually used. (in which conditions)
What are the advantages in using them...
thanks in advance..
Jaagy.You have to remember that .tag are, in a way, jsp pages, so you can use other custom tags, etc.
We use them when we need template that are mostly html, with a little bit of logic in them that we want to reuse.
For example, we made one for or header and footer. In header.tag, we set all of our http info, from doctype to body, including default css, title, etc if they are not supplied as parameter, and in our footer we put the /body and /html tags. Now, our typical pages look like
<%@ taglib tagdir="/WEB-INF/tags" prefix="custom" %>
<custom:header title="Page title" />
... page content
<custom:footer />Now, if we want to change some attribute for the whole page, or to put a signature in each page, we just have to change the corresponding .tag file and the whole site is update.
Also, .tag file can be used to display selectively page fragment.
Take a look at Sun's tutorial for more info:

Hope this helps!

Some questions from todays webmeeting:
What is the KB article for the <asp:button> bug
Can a list of bugs be posted for the web controls?
Is there a way for the ptrender=true be moved from the form tag to a button tag?
Samples for the web controls...
Thanks,Michael Bruce [email protected]The ptrender tag is present because almost all .NET web control clicks execute the javascript __doPostbackfunction, except standard buttons (& imagebuttons). Bypassing this code (as in the case of buttons) means that the plumtree 'special' postback cannot be performed. Therefore the ptrender tag causes the form to be submitted through this function my modifying the form onsubmit handler to append:
__doPostBack_$PORTLET_ID('$PORTLET_ID','$FORMNAME_$PORTLET_ID','','');return false;
It should therefore be possible to leave out the ptrender tag, and cause the button clicks to execute the function directly, by using the onclick handler for the button to run the above code (replacing the $VARIABLE's). Note the trailing return falseto prevent normal form submission. -
Help! BC-Muse : Custom Code before closing Body tag
I have a project that is ongoing am constantly updating and publishing from Muse. I also have a custom code that is inserted before the closing body tag that I can't place in Muse (Because the feature is not supported). Every time I publish in Muse I lose this code because Muse will override the page always. So I have to go the code section in BC for the page and reinsert the code. This is giving me headache and stress on my back and sight.
How can I permanently place this code before the closing body tag once without the stress mentioned earlier and without Muse re-writing the code for that specific page (I used to think Muse publish edited pages and not the entire site, even when the option to publish 'only modified pages is selected'). Please HELP!Thanks Zak, this is the code:
<script>
$('#pdropdown').change( function() {
$('#pdetails>*:not(.hide)').toggleClass('hide');
var optionVal = $(this).val();
$('#'+optionVal+'.hide').toggleClass('hide');
</script>
I have a web app that loads product list into a dropdown list. (How I wish we had a dropdown list form in Muse that can work with BC web app or a drop down list that can be use to target a specific widget ID.) Maybe its time Muse widgets have ID so we can target them to appear by fading in, sliding in, etc.)
