WebI report in rtf/doc format using BO XI R3

Hi,
   Is it possible to generate webi/deski reports in rtf/word doc using Report Engine SDK(Java). I am able to generate pdf and xls using OutputFormatType.PDF and  OutputFormatType.XLS like below.
binaryView = (BinaryView)documentInstance.getView(OutputFormatType.XLS);
binaryView = (BinaryView)documentInstance.getView(OutputFormatType.PDF);
I think i can generate XML too using the above method. But i would like to generate word/rtf and if possible TXT too.
   I am using BO XI 3.1.
Thanks in advance
Shameer

Hi Shameer,
Unfortunately, RTF or Word is not a valid format with WebI or DeskI documents.
Please kindly refer to the SupportedViews Interface documentation of the API Reference for the Report Engine Java SDK.
The Report Engine Java SDK API Reference for XI 3.x is can be downloaded from the following link:

Hope this helps.

    Help needed  while exporting crystal reports to HTML file format using java api(not using crystalviewer).i want to download the

    thanks

    the ReportExportFormat class does not have HTML format, it has got to be XML. Export to HTML is available from CR Designer only.

  • To convert a crystal report into word(*.doc) format

    Dear members,
    I have designed and generated a report using crystal as tool,but
    i want to convert this report into Microsoft word format(*.doc).
    Can anybody please help me in this regard?
    Thanks and regards,
    Venkatesh.R

    Hi
    Simple way is to you use Cristal Reports Designer: you can use CR Report convertion function.
    File/Export/Export Report... choose Word Document (rtf) modificable what can be opened with Word and saved how Word Document (.doc).
    Other way:
    Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
    Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared
    Dim CrxReport As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
    CrxReport.ExportToDisk(CrystalDecisions.[Shared].ExportFormatType.RichText, _
                                        "c:\open_me_with_word.rtf")

  • Passing hierachy node variable from BW to BO Webi Report in open doc link

    Hello All,
    We are working on BW-BO integration and creating Webi reports based on Bex queries.
    The question is regarding passing of a hierachy node value from BW to BO through open doc link.
    I see that when we pass hierarchy node value, we have to associate that with the corresponding infoobject technical name in the link but not sure in what format it has to be sent.
    For example, if ARM is the node value and 0HIERNODE is the infoobject , how should we send this value to BO.
    Please help.
    Thanks for your help,
    Regards,
    Tangudu S

    You cannot change anything here. You should really find out how the values are retrieved from the database
    THere is another option:
    1) Activate the tracing on your BOBJ server
      Check the following SAP notes (http://service.sap.com/notes) for that:
      Unix: Note 1235111
      Windows: Note 1260004
    2) Run your WebI report from the InfoView by choosing first the desired hierachy node value from the LOV of your prompt.
    3) Extract the MDX statement from the log file. It should contain the value for the hierarchy node. Copy this to the URL
    It is easier to find this out if you have access to a Crystal Reports Designer installation. Do you?

  • How to save report in text (.txt) format using SSRS

    Hello
    I am using some .rdl file to generate reports and this is using SSRS. But only thing I did that I have changed the configuration file in C drive as below :
    Here
     Collapse | Copy Code
    <Extension Name="TXT" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.CsvRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.CsvRendering">
        <OverrideNames>
            <Name Language="en-US">TXT (Pipe Delimited Text File)</Name>
        </OverrideNames>
        <Configuration>
            <DeviceInfo>
                <FieldDelimiter>|</FieldDelimiter>
                <Extension>TXT</Extension>
                <Encoding>ASCII</Encoding>
            <NoHeader>true</NoHeader>
            </DeviceInfo>
        </Configuration>
    </Extension>
    The TXT is added to the drop down . But when I am saving the report it is not saving in .txt format. It is taking .CSV format. Kindly help to save report in txt format.

    Hi Chat89,
    By design, SQL Server Reporting Services render a report to CSV (text) format with a comma (,) as FieldDelimiter in .CSV FileExtension. So if we want to display Pipe FieldDelimiter in .txt format, we can modify those setting in the RSReportserver.config
    file as below:
    Please navigate to RSReportserver.config file: <drive:>\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer \RSReportserver.config.
    Backup the RSReportserver.config file before we modify it, open the RSReportserver.config file with Notepad format.
    In the <Render> section, add the new code for the CSV extension like this:
    <Extension Name="CSV" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering">
       <OverrideNames>
            <Name Language="en-US">TXT (Pipe Delimited Text File)</Name>
        </OverrideNames>
        <Configuration>
            <DeviceInfo>
                <FieldDelimiter>|</FieldDelimiter>
                <FileExtension>TXT</FileExtension>
            <NoHeader>true</NoHeader>
            </DeviceInfo>
        </Configuration>
    </Extension>
    Save the RSReportserver.config file.

  • Generating reports in .doc format (Word Document) using Java POI - HWPF

    Hi
    Can anybody help me how to generate the report in .doc format using POI API?
    Please share the sample code, if you have.
    Thanks in Advance
    Dhilip

    Hi,
    I dont think that your requirement has to do with ADF capabilities.
    You want to edit a word document with JAVA. For that reason, you will need an API, as the suggestions above.
    You can do it without ADF and by using standard JAVA and the API of your choice. a static void main will do for that matter.
    ADF comes into the game when you want to handle the document with your ADF application.
    This means that you either want to get your new data to be placed on your doc from BC or any other DataControl or you want to do something else with ADF..
    My guess is that you want to get data from ADF into your Doc.
    You could create an API on handling your Doc and then use it into your ADF application.

    Dimitris.

  • Webi report into HTML format

    Hi Frns,
    I wanna convert webi report into html format...
    Is there any possibility in bo???
    I'm using sap bo 4.1 sp2
    Regards
    Riaz

    Hi Riaz,
    As per my knowledge Webi report export to HTML format is not possible in BI 4.1
    You can raise a request in SAP IDEA's place
    Refer the below links for workaround solution

    Does BOE XI 3.1 supports exporting WebI to XML format?

  • Linking a WEBI report through hyperlink in a webpage using open document

    Hi All,
    I have a hyper link in a web page which when clicked should open a WEBI report. I created it using the open document feature.
    Once clicking on the link, InfoView login credential page is displayed. After logging in the report runs.
    My client does not want the login page to be displayed since most of the users does not remember their password (since SSO is implemented).
    He wants to bypass this login page so that most of the users can directly view the reports.
    Question:
    Is there a way to achieve this i.e without asking for login credentials or by passing this?
    Possibilities :
    1: To create ID's for all the people (which I think is not a feasible option in my project)
    2: Create a guest account with minimum privileges and share the password with all the users.
    Note:
    1: I use BO XI R 3.1.
    2: No SDK is installed to do any programming.
    Any suggestion are most welcome.
    Thanks in advance
    Shreyas

    Hi Shreyas,
    Manual Easy Way for doing the activity in SAP Business Objects 4.0:
    This method is useful if we have a special system account that we want everyone to use.
    You will notice that all we do is generate a logon token using the appropriate username, password and CMS variables. Then we append the token onto ivsLogonToken.
    Note: The numbers on the url after /BOE/portal represents the timestamp of the last patch or install.  You can put whatever you want under the number section and Business Objects will automatically redirect to the appropriate start.do
    Step I:
    Go to the SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\eclipse\plugins\webpath.InfoView directory and edit custom.jsp
    Step II:
    You can copy the contents from the custom.jsp that I’ve provided below to your custom.jsp.
    Cutom.JSP File
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.exception.SDKException" %>
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.framework.*" %>
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.infostore.*" %>
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.security.*"%>
    <%@ page import="java.net.*"%>
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.enterprise.*"%>
    <%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.plugin.admin.*"%>
    <%@ page import="java.sql.*"%>
    <%@ page import="com.businessobjects.webutil.Encoder" %>
    <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"
        pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1"%>
    <%
    //BO Session and redirect to Infoview
    IEnterpriseSession enterpriseSession;
    /* * Set Enterprise Logon credentials. */
    final String BO_CMS_NAME = "bi4server";
    final String BO_AUTH_TYPE = "secEnterprise";
    final String BO_USERNAME = "Daya";
    final String BO_PASSWORD = "admin@123";
    ILogonTokenMgr logonTokenMgr;
    String defaultToken = "";
    * Log onto Enterprise
    boolean loggedIn = true;
    try {
    //Create session token
    enterpriseSession = CrystalEnterprise.getSessionMgr().logon(Daya,admin@123, BI4SERVER,Enterprise);
    logonTokenMgr = enterpriseSession.getLogonTokenMgr();
    defaultToken = logonTokenMgr.createWCAToken("", 20, 1);
    //Redirect with token attached to the ivsLogonToken parameter
    response.sendRedirect("http://"+BO_CMS_NAME+":8080/BOE/portal/1205291547/InfoView/logon/start.do?ivsLogonToken="+Encoder.encodeURL(defaultToken));
    catch (Exception error)
    loggedIn = false;
    out.println(error);
    %>

    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>
    Edit the username,Password & BOBJ Server Name'in BOLD Letter
    Step III:
    Stop tomcat, then delete contents in the SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\work directory.
    Then start tomcat again and the work directory will be regenerated with new code.
    Step IV:
    Trusted Authentication:
    Trusted Authentication is a component of Enterprise authentication that integrates with third-party single sign-on solutions, including Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS). Applications
    that have established trust with the Central Management Server can use Trusted Authentication to allow users to log on without providing their passwords.
    This method is really cool because users don’t even have to know their passwords.  Basically with this method you can log into another system and if that system has the appropriate user name, you can pass it to the custom.jsp and then it will log you into BI Launchpad.
    In addition, you don’t need to create any java code for the enterprise token setup.
    Step V:
    In the CMC, go to Authentication, then select Enterprise.  Check Trusted Authentication is enabled, then click on New Shared Secret.  Finally download the shared secret key and keep it somewhere secure
    Step VI:
    Copy global.properties from <INSTALLDIR>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\warfiles\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config\default into <INSTALLDIR>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\warfiles\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config\custom.  Then using Notepad or another text editing utility, edit the following properties
    sso.enabled=true
    trusted.auth.user.retrieval=WEB_SESSION
    trusted.auth.user.param=UserName
    trusted.auth.shared.secret=<secret code from properties file you created in step 2>
    Step VII:
    Go to the SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\eclipse\plugins\webpath.InfoView directory and edit custom.jsp
    <\!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

    <body>
    <a href="javascript:goToLogonPage()">Click this to go to the logon page of BI launch pad</a>
    </body>
    Edit the username(Daya) variable
    Step VIII:
    Stop tomcat, then delete contents in the SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\work directory.
    Then start tomcat again and the work directory will be regenerated with new code.

  • Using Combo Box in Web Report 6.0

    Hello,
    You need to create a client-side PL/SQL package as Program Units for your report. In this package you can define a package variable to hold and share your file handle, and create functions to open, write, and close the file. You can call these functions from the Before Report, Formula, and After Report triggers in your report.

  • Excel Formatting in WEBI Report

    Can we able to save the webi report to default excel format.
    default excel format :- each columns should move to each cell same for rows too. But currently it is placing in proper cells but the blank part is showing in white background without any format.
    pls help..

    Hi,
    Save as excel saves the document to an excel file keeping as much of the formatting as possible.
    The free format of webI is in conflict with the way excel is set up in cells.
    So if i have one cell that is about 2,5 times the lenght of my table block, the third column will be split to accommodate both the cell ending and the column ending.
    Same is true with whitespace, there will be additional rows/columns to give the same amount of whitespace in the excel file.
    If you want the table to convert to a simple excel table, you should treat the webi report as such.
    No fancy comment cells, just one table block that will translate to excel.
    Position the table block upper left (0px from top, 0 px from left) to get rid of the white space left and top,
    as this will trigger a white column and row.
    Good luck,
    Marianne

  • Hiding the blank cells in Webi report - BO 4.0

    Hi,
    I have created a webi report in which i have used different types of blocks
    1) Form table
    2) Verticle table
    3) Horizontal table.
    so now in real time there chances that some of the blocks will not have any data.(i.e it displays blank cell) in the report.
    so now i have to hide only the blank cells and not the table headers.that means though the cells are blank i have to display headers.
    what formatting changes i need to achieve this in Webi Report.
    If anybody does this please let me know the step by step logic in detail.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Naga Nanda Kishore.

    Hi,
    We cannot hide specifc cells in WebI, however we can choose to whether to display or not empty measure values and empty dimension value.
    So you need to select the desired block-> Right Click  and Select Format Table-> Uncheck Show rows with empty dimension values or Show rows with empty measure values whichever is required to be hidden.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to read Data of a Webi Report

    Hello Friends,
    I have a task where I need to read data of a Webi Report, how can it be done?
    Basically I have a trigger report which runs every day and get the latest RACN number from the database. I am trying to get that RACN number from trigger report using BOBJ SDK.
    I really appreciate your suggestions on this.
    Regards,
    Rakhy.

    Hi Rakhy,
    Is the RACN Number a column or dimension in your webi report? Is it a universe object(webi based on universe)
    Also what version of BusinessObjects you are using?
    If you are using XI 3.1 and you need to retrieve objects from a webi report it can be done using the ReportEngine SDKs.
    Please refer to the developers guide and API referrence guide available at
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/resdk_java_dg_12_en.zip
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/resdk_java_apiRef_12_en.zip
    Also refer to the document at
    http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-38618 for better understanding the workflow.
    An example snippet of how to retrieve an object is below
    =========================================
    DocumentInstance wiDoc = widocRepEngine.openDocument(oInfoObject.getID());
    ReportDictionary reportDictionary=wiDoc.getDictionary();
    for(int a=0;a<reportDictionary.getChildCount() ;a++)
    String name=reportDictionary.getChildAt(a).getName();
    out.println(name);
