Webpage position for bigger monitors

I'm designing a webpage in Dreamweaver and I've got it
looking perfect on a 15" monitor, but on larger monitors it's way
up at the top. If I change the margins to have it bump down when it
opens, the bottom gets cut off on the 15" monitor. Should I worry
about this or is there a way to make it centered no matter what
size monitor it is?

Check out www.csszengarden.com No matter what size (within
reason) you make
your browser window the page looks fine. To accomplish this,
they use a CSS
based design as opposed to tables. Instead of defining widths
in pixels,
they use % or ems. They use lots of background images. These
are some of
the cornerstones of modern web design.
If you're ready to learn, go to google and type "css-based
web design" for

  • Windows 8.1 forgets dpi / display size settings for one monitor on almost every reboot

    I use TV 32" with 1920x1080 and cintiq 13" with 1920x1080
    when I boot my PC the resolution is fine but DPI is wrong.
    In smaller monitor It's look like DPI is higher than the bigger one.
    I already set dpi to be the same (smallest 100%) but it's not work until I do something to change display setting.
    It's really annoy me. This problem is not happen when I use windows 8
    Only solution I found is turn off
    "Turn on fast start-up".
    When I do that It's boot like what I want. every monitor is the same DPI.
    But it'll make my boot time longer.
    It should be just start up windows and use the same dpi from the start.
    So I think this problem is a bug in windows 8.1
    Best regards

    Thank you for reply.
    I've already used the latest graphic card driver. But It's won't help this issue.
    In registry editor. I check those variables then value of them is already set like that blog suggest.
    So , it look like when windows start-up(with fast start-up) It use something like
    suggest value for different monitor size instead of what I set in control panel. But when I turn off fast start-up windows use my setting value.
    And I think there are a lot of people who got the same problem as me.
    Here is an example.

  • Webpage position is okay in Explorer but not in Firefox

    My webpage that I created in Dreamweaver works perfectly in
    Explorer, as I started it before the whole Firefox boom. But in
    Firefox, it adds some vertical space in the cels of my tables,
    pushing everything down and spreading it out vertically.
    If you go to my site www.teddyhose.com and click (for
    example) the "Graphic Design" section and scroll through the
    different pieces, everything stays in the right position in
    Explorer. But in Firefox, it changes the position vertically on
    some of the pages (pushing the navigation bar on the bottom down
    slightly, whereas it's supposed to be in one position for all th
    pages).
    In some cases, I was able to solve the problem by taking out
    the "<p>". But even where there isn't a "<p>" there's
    still added vertical space in the cells when I view some of the
    pages in Firefox.

    When I first saw your site I thought...what links? "Graphic
    Design" - Don't
    see that.
    Then realized that you must have "mystery navigation" forcing
    the user to go
    hunt for hidden rollover links. What if they don't and just
    assume there's
    nothing more there that what is immediately visible?
    > vertically on some of the pages (pushing the navigation
    bar on
    the bottom down
    Might try going through the pages and remove all the cell
    heights, for
    example:
    Changing:
    <td height="22" valign="top" width="300">
    To:
    <td valign="top" width="300">

  • Can pages be resized to fill bigger monitor resolutions?

    It seems most iWeb pages are automatically built for old 800 x 600 monitors. Is there anyway that I can make a page with iWeb that will automatically detect a persons display & expand to fill it on the fly, instead of leaving empty spaces on the sides?
    Sorta like my photo site here: www.photosbykerry.com Go there & drag the corner of your browser's window to make it smaller/bigger. See how it fits everything on the fly?? I want that, or something close to it.
    If you look at pages that were made using iWeb on bigger monitors, it looks pretty small & way old school. Thanks.

    I've cobbled this together based on the above:
    <script language="JavaScript">
    <!--
    function ScreenWindow (url) {
    var screenW = 640, screenH = 480;
    if (parseInt(navigator.appVersion)>3) {
    screenW = screen.width;
    screenH = screen.height;
    else if (navigator.appName == "Netscape"
    && parseInt(navigator.appVersion)==3
    && navigator.javaEnabled()
    var jToolkit = java.awt.Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit();
    var jScreenSize = jToolkit.getScreenSize();
    screenW = jScreenSize.width;
    screenH = jScreenSize.height;
    newwindow = window.open(url,"newwindow",'toolbar=1,location=1,directories=1,status=1,menuba r=1,scrollbars=yes,top=0,left=0,width='+ screenW + ',height=' + screenH);
    //-->
    </script>
    <a href="javascript:ScreenWindow('yourpage.html')" >Link to open new window to fill entire screen.</a>
    Paste this into your html page.
    I haven't tested it on all the various browsers.

    Got the "apple firewire ntsc" choice to show up even if grayed out and "missing" under "audio/visual" menus by recreating choices in Easy Setup under "final cut pro" MENU thank GOODNESS because I was reading horror stories on here about this under another thread with someone trashing preferences, reinstalling and the works and still not getting it to show up...on my search now for an analog/digital converter up at b&h...find it odd that the s video connector wouldn't show the crt monitor when I put both displays through the 3870...I switched it back to see if it worked again when only the one dell monitor display was there and there it is again mirroring the screen display on my desktop...just can't be seen as an "external monitor" in fcp...couldn't find anything specific in the shane ross threads to this. I'm sad the program doesn't just see the s video connection though the 3870 though my computer does fine and will query up at b&h in regard to what might be affordable as far as a digital/analog converter. It's also weird in itself that when I put the two dell monitors on the one card my computer no longer could see the s video crt connection...makes no sense. Will report in later as to what I discover up at b&h as I'm sure there's a world of people out there using this sony crt monitor still even into the upgrades with computers and software so I imagine therein lies the solution. Thanks again and I'll report in as to what hardware might be suggested for me.

  • DVI to VGA Adapter For 2nd Monitor

    Hello,
    I have a DELL monitor with a male DVI cable.  I want to convert to VGA so I can use it as a second monitor.  I currently have an Apple female VGA to Thunderbolt adapter.  What do I need to convert this DVI male to a VGA female?  Or...., do they make a DVI to Thunderbolt adapter?
    Thanks Much,
    Rick

    The Thunderbolt Port on your iMac uses Mini DisplayPort adapters for HDMI, DVI and VGA monitors.
    For DVI monitor's that are 24" or smaller with a resolution of 1920x1200 or less, you need a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter.

    For DVI monitor's that are 27" or larger with higher resolutions, you need a Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter.

  • No 1680x1050 Resolution for External Monitor?

    Hello, forum friends! So after getting a very nice 22"-ish Envision Monitor connected via VGA to my 2011 Macbook Pro, it appears that there is no option for the monitor's recommended resolution, which is 1680x1050! The highest level resolution is 1600x1200, which makes everything look a little stretched out. Does anyone know how to adjust this manually, or has anyone else had this problem? I've heard that this is a new problem from the recent display update.
    Thanks for your help!
    - Catboy. Meow!

    Hmm, I've appeared to solve my own problem! I simply used the application SwitchResX. It worked very well.
    Hope this helps someone else, then!

  • How Can i override a target for a monitor in a sealed Management pack

    Hello everyone,
             I have very generic question here, May be it is too basic.
    I have a time Skew Monitor that is present from an AD MP which is targeted to only AD Computers. Now overriding this Monitor to ALL computers , will this monitor function as expected ?
    I understand that , by overriding we are changing the scope of  this monitor , but still the monitor is created targeting only  AD Computer Role Will this work on Non AD Servers after the override ?
    S.Arun Prasath

    Hi,
    When creating an override for a monitor in a Sealed mp, you will automatically be asked to place the override in an unsealed mp.
    When overriding, you have different options. If you want to make an override for this monitor, for all AD servers, you simply select "all objects of this class".
    I hope that makes sense.

  • Java Stack for Central monitoring system

    I believe for central monitoring with only ABAP stack is sufficient to monitor both remote ABAP and JAVA stacks. For this purpose CCMS and GRMG can be used. My questing is there any need to have JAVA stack in central monitoring system? If yes, what are the things that only ABAP stack can not do alone and JAVA stack is required in central monitoring system?

    Hi,

    You should created this user in working client.

    >
    > One set document which I saw talks about the configuration using RZ21 and other document discuss about Configuration using System Monitoring Work Center, which one do we need to follow, are both methods are 2 different options doing the same thing, can you please clarify?
    >
    You can use RZ21 or System monitoring through work center. From Solution manager 7.1, you need to use work center only. So, I would suggest you to use work center only.

  • Colour profiles within PS are off for one monitor only?

    Hi guys,
    I'm having a very strange issue with colour management in Photoshop CS2 currently.
    Photoshop seems to be calibrating all documents in a strange way on only *one* monitor. If I drag the file across to the other monitor the colour is completely different.
    Of course it sounds like my monitors being off, however when dragging the file across monitors Photoshop slowly updates the colours for the next monitor. You can see it display the wrong colour at first, then correct it (hopefully that makes sense).
    Another symptom of it is when I go to 'save for web'. Here, the colours revert to what I believe are correct.
    b It's worth noting that this has only started to happen since some Windows updates. One being an option update from Dell for my monitor - I can't seem to find any information about it though!
    My tester that I've been using is a plain white to black gradient. What I'm seeing is a lot of cyan in the middle of the gradient. I've saved off an example:
    http://2dforever.com/photoshop.png
    As you can see, all the greys are very green, but if you look at the gradient tool in the toolbar itself, the grey appears fine.
    I'm unsure how I can adjust the colour profile from Photoshop for one monitor - am I missing something really obvious here?
    Just to note: I'm on Win Xp SP2, Photoshop CS2, and I've cleared the preferences.

    Since you only mention Photoshop as having a problem, this is almost
    certainly, as you suspect, a monitor profile config problem.
    Color profiles for individual monitors are configured in
    Start>Settings>Control Panel>Display>Settings>(Advanced Button)>Color
    Management.
    In Settings, click on the monitor whose profile you want to verify before
    clicking on the "Advanced..." button. I would start by adding and
    defaulting the profile for the monitor that is causing problems.
    The Microsoft XP color control panel applet makes setup easier, though it
    is not really necessary. If the link below fails, google for keywords
    Microsoft XP color control panel applet.
