Website folder structure

I guess I should preface this by saying and all of this is just trying to find "work arounds" because currently EDGE doesn't have any way I can find in the UI for the user to access/modify the folder structure of projects. I guess if you only have a couple of animations on your site then this is not a big issue but what if you have 50 ? I really don't want 150 .js files adding to the clutter of my main site directory, not to mention all the other stuff and posiable conflicting names of image files all thrown in the same "images" folder etc, etc, so there is obviously a real need for the user to be able to control where all this stuff is going in order to keep track of it
So... I found out the other day how I could manually modify the myProject_edge.js file to move the "images" folder (although it gets to be a pain if you want multi subfolders) so other than editing the location of the "myProject_edgePreload.js" in the html file where do I find/edit the paths for all the other stuff ?
I assume that the "edge_includes" are a constant and don't change so I would like to put them with all my other .js files. ?
I would like to group the project .js files into individual "animations" subfolders,  like...
website/animations/ani1....ani2....ani3 etc
Then in dealing with all the images. Some of the projects use common elements so I would like a common images folder so I don't have 50+ copies of the same image taking up space. Like
website/animations/images
but then I want to keep images unique to a project in a subfolder with the project .js files, like
website/animations/ani1/images....ani2/images....etc.
I noticed the other day when i edited the myProject_edge.js image path location to create a subfolder for some SEQ images that if I added images to the folder that edge didn't see them but if i added them to the main images folder that edge did see them, so the only way i found to add images to one of the subfolders was to add the to the main folder, save the project, then edit the myProject_edge.js file again to change their paths to the subfolder, then i was able to use them in the project.  It would be really nice to be able to create subfolders and drag drop images to folders in the "Library" panel.
how do some of you deal with all the stuff that's tied to a single animation ??
This would be a different approach to compact everything but could I save each of say 50 animations as a symbol, then create a single edge project and import all my symbols into a single edge project. Then could I using JS within the <body>   call/play a single symbol in a div  in a html page ??

Hi Joel, all other js files are loaded at the bottom of this file: yourFileName_edgePreload.js
aLoader = [
    { load: "edge_includes/jquery-1.7.1.min.js"},
    { load: "edge_includes/jquery.easing.1.3.js"},
    { load: "edge_includes/edge.1.0.0.min.js"},
    {test: !hasJSON, yep:"edge_includes/json2_min.js"},
    { load: "test_edge.js"},

  • How do I load a website folder onto the ipad of offline use?

I have a website that I want to load onto the ipad for viewing without interntet.  I have the entire 1000+ page site and images on my laptop's desktop and I can view it there. How do I put it on the iPad and use it there?
    Thnaks for the help.

I have been doing  some research on this matter and thought I would share the result of my experiences - the overall aim is to have multi-page websites locally viewable on my iPad with navigation using normal hyperlinks
There are numerous suggestions on the web many of which diod not give me what I wanted - my solutions below work for me but may not suit everyone
    Case 1 - downloading website from a web-accessible location
I use the iPad app Offline Pages to capture websites - this app works well for this style of website - remember to set the download links to download all that you require - "Intelligent" is good
In theory you can use the app to download websites from the desktop but I haven't been able to get that working routinely
Case 2 - multi-page website on desktop that DOES NOT use relative addressing
You need to process all the links so that it contains well behaved relative addressing
For this I use the Mac app WebCopier which gives good results - this requires that the website is accessible via the web but that can be local to your desktop (see below)
Once I have a processed website then I proceed as below
Case 3 - multi-page website on desktop that DOES  use relative addressing
Firstly make sure that you have installed the Offline Pages Bookmarklet in your desktop browser (use the gearwheel settings icon top right in Offline Pages)
Secondly, turn on websharing in the desktop's System Prefs>Sharing panel - this gives me an address for the computer's website and a link "Open Computer Website Folder..." - use this link to navigate to this location on your desktp computer and now move the source (processed if required) website until it is in the computer's website folder structure
Thirdly, select the starting point of the source website (usually an index.html file) and click on the Save to Offline Pages Bookmarklet
Lastly, go to the iPad and wait until the inbox is updated (the inbox at top left shows a number and spinning wheel while it is downloading) - if only 1 page is downloaded by Offline Pages then display that page and click the Page Info icon (square with tick at top right) - change Download Links to "Intelligent" or whatever you require and then click  "Update Now" - this should then report the number of pages that are in the downloaded website.
    Enjoy !!

  • How can I batch Save For Web and maintain a multilevel folder structure?

First... I am using an old version of Photoshop.... 6.0 to be exact.  If your answer is to buy the newer versions, I respectfully say I know that's AN answer, but I'm looking for something that will work with my setup.  The version we have works just fine for the very few things we need it for, and we use new versions of InDesign and Acrobat for all else.
    So here's the challenge:
We have a weekly magazine featuring 1,200 plus photos of cars for sale, each saved in a folder named for the sales rep, week and day.  I must maintain these folder structure throughout the process, as the files names are duplicated by cameras and across reps.  So I cannot dump all batch converted pics into one single folder, yet I need to reduce the Quality setting which I find when completing a Save As in Photoshop.
So I want to batch convert all the photos in multiple folders, some 3 folders deep, all at once....  reduce to 8 inches across, change to 72dpi, and reduce the quality slider to 5, which creates a nice 60-90K file.  BUT.... it wants to save all of them in a particular folder.  I need to just overwrite the original file with the new smaller one.... or save the new small version into the same folder the big one is in, but have it work with the "include all sub-folders" option in batch.
    A sample File system .... 4513 Photos - Color <day of week> (3 folders) - <disk number><rep>Color (20 folders) - actual photos.
After converting, we push up the final level of folder to our website and that organization allows us to use them there the way we need.  The uploading to the site and batch functions are done 3 to 4 times per week.... on different days.
Is there a way to reduce the quality (compression) of the jpgs that does not require the creation of a new file in a particular folder, or is there a way to have the resulting file just drop back into the folders and subfolders during a batch function?  I just can't figure this out!
As an alternative, what other programs might do this?

You should be able to just use the html output of the Export for Web function and, if the video's converted correctly, just swap the file names at the appropriate places. Have you tried renaming VisualHub's output to what the Export for Web html wants, then placing it in the proper location?
I'm not aware of a way to batch create the html files, but if I had to, I'd probably look at automator to see if I could figure out it's text manipulation options.

  • Folder Structures

    Hello All,
I was using iView Media Pro, until I picked up Aperture. Quick question ... since Aperture stores all photos in one library file, is there a way to get access to images from Photoshop without having to export from Aperture? Also, I am aware of showing package contents of the Aperture Library file, but this does not really do any good if I am attempting to locate a file in Photoshop.
For the record, I like Aperture. I just hope there will eventually be an easier way to gain access to pictures from the Finder.

This is a way to keep your existing file structure in aperture and then keep a separate set of smart folders which can relate to your existing file & folder system. Its not ideal & it doesn't show up in photoshop file browser but it works reasonably well.
I run a picture library & need to keep track of approx. 70,000 images. These are in lots of file formats including .jpg .tif and raw files both camera specific eg. .NEF .CRW & also files from non-supported cameras converted into .dng files.
I will use aperture as a management system to quickly look for & sort files. I would use it for some basic editing to make images for my website for example - but until it improves will need to use photoshop for raw conversion & serious editing.
Since aperture uses its own library structure which is difficult to locate i need - as i'm sure many other people need - a simple way of quickly looking through my library to find files independent of aperture. This is a method i came up with. It does however require a fair amount of planning ahead as you have to import folders into aperture one by one and then create your smart folder. When you have done that you can move onto the next one.
    1) Decide on how you want to split up your existing library & make sure its organised.
I run a library which specialises in travel images of France so its organised in this way.
Main Regions of France>Sub-areas>images etc. So in real terms this works out as:
ALPS(FOLDER)>grenoble(sub-folder)>cable-car1.jpg(image) I'll use this an example & you should be able to see how it works.
    2) Firstly in aperture I set up a new project called FRANCE LIBRARY.
    3) I then click on it & go to Import>Folders Into a project. In this case its a folder called ALPS.
    4) All the files & folders within the main folder ALPS then copy to aperture in the same structure as i've already got them organised.
    5) The next step is to find those images & set up a smart folder for all the different kinds of file types within it.
    6) Go to Finder>File>New Smart Folder
    7) Find your Aperture Library from the menu on the left - wherever you've stored it.
    8) Right click it (or cntrl + click) and click Show Package Contents
    9) There should be a project file file. In my case its called FRANCE LIBRARY.approject
    10) Right click it and click Show Package Contents
    11) You should then see a folder with an .apimportgroup extension.
    12) Open it & there are separate folders for each of the images. Each folder
includes the actual image + the adjustment etc. files.
    13) In the spotlight search box ( top right hand corner) type a search criteria.
use the extension for one of the files you've got in there. eg. jpg
    14) click on the + symbol (its below the search box to the right of Save)
    15) 2 boxes then appear on the left called Kind & Any
    16) click on Any & select Images
    17) delete whatever you entered in the search box. this is an important step
as its stops the folder only displaying jpgs.
    18) The folder should then display thumbnails of all the images in that .apimportgroup folder. in my case this includes .jpg .tif .dng files.
    19) then click Save to name & save folder.
    20) It only lets you save in one of 3 places but you can always move it
    to where you want.
    21) You now have a folder of thumbnails - stored wherever you choose.
    22) If you right click the image you can then go to Open With & open it in whatever programme you choose. ie. photoshop.
You can then go back to aperture and import the next batch - following all the steps again.
You can obviously set up the folders how you want. You can choose to have lots of them or a few.
I do this one at a time as its easy to spot the new .apimportgroup folder. If i imported my whole library at once i'd just have one huge folder - this way i can keep them organised as i want them & in a way i'm familiar with.
This means that i can set up the same file and folder structure in aperture & within smart folders as i have in my existing library.
Its complicated & its far from ideal but it works. Even though aperture stores files in its own library they are still visible (admittedly through a complicated procedure) even if aperture ceased to exist as a programme it would still be possible to see all the images in its library by using this method. You can then copy them - burn them to dvd - back them up on another disk - ie. do the same as files in a "normal" folder. As far as i know smart folders will update if you delete from or add to them
As a way of integrating it into photoshop for converting raw files - its possible to have a smart folder containing raw files in place of photoshop bridge & then right click on the image you want to convert - click open with photoshop & the image will appear in the photoshop camera raw converter.
Aperture has some really useful features & also some features that need to be improved asap. I've emailed apple 3 times so far so i'm not a fan of it yet.
For my particular business its very useful in lots of ways - but it needs some work to be what many of us hoped it would be.
ps. if there are any errors in this please let me know. i followed the procedure through as i was typing so i am hoping its all ok.

  • Export folder structure in LR1.1

    Hi there,
I downloaded LR1.1 this morning and hoped to see a long waiting and missing feature, but it seems that it is already lacking.
My pictures are stored in folders like \2007\2007_05_02_Vacation and I want to export my pictures keeping the structure. It seems to me that I cannot specify a path separator (\) in the export dialog and therefore all exported images are stored in a "flat" folder.
Is there really no way in LR1.1 to keep or create a folder structure?
In my opinion this should be easy to code and is helpful for nearly everyone how wants to backup it's processed pictures as Jpegs.
Btw: I have written a small ruby script (http://www.ruby-lang.org/en/) which replaces all "$$"-characters by path separator after the export, so there is a workaround for this problem available for me. I export my pictures in a format like "folder name$$picture.jpg" and they are then moved by the script to "foldername\picture.jpg".
If there are a lot of people interested in this script I would create and publish it on a website (which currently do not exists), otherwise I would also send it per mail to everyone who wants it (without any guarantee aso).
    Best regards
    Frank

Why not export the files to a folder, setting LR as the post processing step, which makes LR import the exported files into the catalogue - setting the file handling option to Move to new location, and choosing to organize by date.
This obviously needs a date-based export. Ideally all exports (eg from a keyword or collection) should be able to reflect the hierarchy from which they're launched.

  • Change the folder structure in Adobe Muse?

I have a website created in Adobe Muse, but I don't like how all the pages are shown like this in the address bar: http://www.mydomain.com/musefile.html no matter where on the site you are.
I'm publishing the site through Business Catalyst, but I'm afraid of tinkering with the file structure in there. I really would like to put the html files into subfolders so I can create a structure like this: http://www.mydomain.com/submenu1/index.html
Then I could have all the different menu categories into subfolders, and the links in these categories in the correct subfolders.
How do I go about doing this?
You can see the temporary site at www.copycat.as

    Hi,
Beacause Muse doesn't have an option for creating folders it is not possible to create the desired structure in Muse and this folder structure will have to be created in BC or if you choose to connect over FTP to your site.
If you need help using FTP go through this article: http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/153/bc_153.html (it's easier to create the folder structure).
What will be helpful in this case, and Muse will keep all the configurations inside your project, will be to create your menu items manually and specify the path for your files using the field next to the Hyperlink for each item. However, this method is not recommended unless you know how links works on different levels (folders)
I hope this gives you a clear view about how it can be done.
    Regards,
    Cristian

    Thanks for responding.
I have used iPhoto forever and have all my photos categorized in iPhoto's folders and subfolders, organized chronologically by events of my liking: sports, holidays, vacations, etc (through the past 6-7 years). I was peeved when a few updates ago, iPhoto made iPhoto's "Events" the substantial organizational structure, and deleted many of my photos in their "Photos" library. Imported photos seemed to be imported only into iPhoto's "Events" and not in the previous huge umbrella of "Photos", many of my photos disappeared in the "Photos" library, they still existed in "Events (another question). I could still however make my folders and subfolders within iPhoto separate from the "Events" structure which I continued to do. Today, however, I went to upload a bunch of my favorite photos that I had put in a folder in June of my daughter's graduation, I wanted to upload these photos in my mac mobile website but all the photos were gone from that grad folder. They are still in an iPhoto "Event", thus they exist but they have been removed from the folder I created only a month ago. Then I noticed ALL my photos in ALL the folders that I have created through the years are gone, there is only a place holder of where the photo used to be. The folders are still there with the names I gave them.
I have not done anything to bring them back.
I don't understand the "managed" library that you mention. I have never had to even think about this.

  • Use Applescript to create folder structure from Numbers document

    Hello All,
I know this is possible and I am feeling close - I just couldn't find a post that addressed the issue I am having exactly. Essentially I have a client list with 211 business names in it. I am trying to create a script that will scan the first column of my Numbers document and create a folder structure from that list. I found a post on another website that gave me a rough template and this is where I am at:
    set destinationFolder to "MacHD:/Users//Documents/Work/Customers/:to:folder:"
    tell application "Numbers.app"
set theCells to value of range "A1:A211" of active sheet
    end tell
    repeat with oneCell in theCells
              tell application "Finder" to make new folder at folder destinationFolder with properties {name:item 1 of oneCell}
    end repeat
When I run this I get "Expected end of line but found class name." and in the result window it display "
    error "Can’t get value of range." number -1728 from «class NMCv» of «class NmCR»"
I am completely new to this and don't really know how to debug. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you so much!

Here is an enhanced version which no longer use a loop to extract the selected values.

  • How do I move photos in a Smart Collection and keep folder structure?

HI there I am on a trial of Lightroom and loving it so far.  One seemingly simple task I would like to try out is moving all my RAW files (which are all mixed up with JPGs and PSDs to a new location and keep the current folder structure.
Currently I have files strcutured like this: <main disk>\<year>\<month>\<filename>.cr2 and I would like to move these to <different disk>\<year>\<month>\<filename>.cr2
The Export functions look as if they will put them all in to one big folder?  Any ideas?
    Many thanks in advance.

There are several approaches to this problem. You could do this via the Folders panel in LR. You can do just about everything in the Folders panel that you can do in Explorer or Finder. Just create folder and drag and drop.
Another way is to do this outside LR use Explorer (Windows) or FInder (Mac). after you're done then go back into LR and tell LR where to find the moved files. Depending on how many you have this could be a bit tedious.
Another method is to choose the files you want then Export them as a Catalog. When you do this be sure to include the option to export the negatives. Point the new catalog at you other drive. It will recreate the folder structure during the export. Then remove the images from your present catalog. Don't delete from disk just remove. Now import from catalog and choose the newly exported catalog. This time choose the option to add the files without moving them. Once you are sure everything is back and is fine you can use Explorer or Finder to go into your original file structure and delete the files that were moved to the new drive.  Be careful to only choose the moved files. If you are separating the RAWs out this should be relatively easy.
    I hope that helps!

  • How can I batch move files to the same folder structure in a different location?

    Hi,
I recently had an issue with my iTunes Library so I used the Organize Library feature to have iTunes organise my library.  What happened was that it put all of my music in a folder called 'Music' on my external hard drive, whereas previously it was not in a folder at all, e.g.
BEFORE: External Hard Drive / Abba / Greatest Hits / Mama Mia.m4a
AFTER: External Hard Drive / Music / Abba / Greatest Hits / Mama Mia.m4a
I don't have any particular issue with the updated folder structure, except that I had copies of the artwork for each album in my album folders, and these weren't moved when the audio files were moved/consolidated/organised.  So I need to find a way of moving all of the artwork to the new folders, e.g.
External Hard Drive / Abba / Greatest Hits / folder.jpg
    needs to become:
    External Hard Drive / Music / Abba / Greatest Hits / folder.jpg
I have to do this for 3,000+ albums, and I have multiple artwork files for some albums, so I am hoping that there is a way of doing this using a batch/automated method of some kind, but I haven't been able to turn up anything yet.
    Can someone help with this?
    Thanks,
    Nick

You can make a smart playlist containing episodes of both series and play from that. Podcasts are linked together by the URL they are served from so merging ongoing series isn't really practical.

  • Hi. I am having trouble with the folder structure.

I import my pictures like probably most Lightroom users.
    They go to:
Pictures / (Year)  / (Subfolder name crated checking "Into Subfolder" during import)
Recently, after upgrading to Yosemite, when I import to this structure, Lightroom creates a folder visually outside it. Above, the "01_Sao_Paulo" folder should appear inside 2015 while "12_Atacama" and "12_Hasselblad" under 2014. The right folders were actually created when I check them in Finder.
And when I try to move the folders under the right folder structure, Lightroom recognizes  that the folder already exists.
    My question two questions are:
    1. How do I make the folders appear correctly under the right folder structure?
    2. How do I make Lightroom stop creating the folders outside the structure on my next imports?
    Thanks for any help.

  • Using Metadata to generate view as conventional folder structure

Can Metadata be used to generate a view as the conventional folder drill-down?
I have a list with metadata for different projects, releases, content type etc and I would like to view them in folder structure with different hierarchies, i.e. using projects--> releases--> content-type as well as release --> projects --> content-type.
I have asked the same question at : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22693036/using-metadata-to-view-as-conventional-folder-structure

    Hi,
If your metadata is based on a hierarchical term set you could use ‘Metadata Navigation’.
You may have to change your information architecture a bit to accommodate this approach. More info on ‘Metadata Navigation’ here:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/sharepoint-server-help/configure-metadata-navigation-for-a-list-or-library-HA101820113.aspx
    Hope this helps

  • How to make file folder structure from virtual folders

    lv 2013 sp1
This is the layout of an example project, (please don't mind the horrible naming)
When i create a source distribution.. no matter what settings I try, the preview is always like this:
But I want the folder structure from the build to become as the virtual folder structure. is there any way of doing this without moving them by hand in the file explorer tab?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Unless you use auto-populating folders (which I don't like), the virtual folders are not meant to reflect the location on disk, so it certainly won't be automatic.
I don't have experience with source distribution, but other build types have the option of configuring destination folders in the Destinations category and then assigning these destinations to items in the projects (including virtual folders, which then takes all the elements inside it) either in the same category or in the one under it, I can't check. I expect that you can do the same in a source distribution.

  • WEIRD! AVCHD folder structure saved on HD appears different in Mountain Lion?

I saved all my old SD card contents fully onto an external hard drive.
Since saving I have upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
Today I opened  the saved SD cards to find that the folder structure had altered dramatically.
It appears to be simplified and the "Private" folder is no longer a folder but a QT type file which when double-clicked opens in QT Player.
All the clips appear to be there and capable of being used but everything is drastically different.
Any idea what has happened  .  .  .  .  is it ML related?

There seems to be no way of importing AVCHD video without copying it.
When it's in the camera you need to copy it but if it's stored on a HD there is no need but you are given no choice.

  • Exchange 2007,  Contacts and Calendar OK , Email only folder structure

Hi, as i was reading many different topics I found that many of them had mixed answers between Exchange 2003, Exchange 2003 and 2007. Because of this mess, i wanted to focus ONLY on *EXCHANGE 2007*. That´s been said...
I have configured my iPhone with the user/pass/domain/address/SSL-ON, the iPhone connects to exchange and syncronize correctly Contacts and Calendar but not the Email. Email just shows folder structure.
After this first failed attempt I installed the certificate (Unsigned according to iphone and contains "Root Certificate")... No Improvement
I contacted my IT department , they said that Activesync was supposedly ON in my user profile and that SSL was mandatory. They also said that they cannot start testing thoroughly because it would disroupt other users. They also argue that many users are using activesync service with no problem what-so-ever. However they incouraged me to keep looking for an answer.
I couldnt find an apple guide to configuration for Exchange 2007, the enterprise deployment guide is just to vague.

I don't think there will be a solution to this. Exchange 2003 just isn't supported.
