Weighted avg Unit Cost calculation for COGS

Hi friends,
Has any body done weighted avg unit cost calculation for inventory valuation and COGS calculation. In a way we need to mirror ECC material ledger functionality based on the APO data in side the planning tool.
Any ideas on the above!!!
Kind Regards,
Krish

Hi Jerry,
Thanks for the tip. I actually needed to clean the spreadsheet up and put bogus values in to comply with company policy. Anyhow, here is a sample of the spreadsheet
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7499586/junk.png
Just imagine about 100 products and several hundred raw materials, a dozen types of labor and about 30 types of packaging. It's a monster spreadsheet.
The "units" under each product is the number of units per batch. You can see each product has two columns. One where you put in how much of a raw material, package type, and labor type go into each batch, the next calculates the cost for each item. Then it gets summed at the top for the total unit cost for that product.
Let me know if you have any other questions about it. Thanks so much for your help!

  • Unit Cost Calculation

    Hi Folks,
We have a unit cost spreadsheet that was built in openoffice. I'd like to convert it to numbers and clean it up to be "numbers style" (i.e. not one gigantic table with a bunch of different sections). I'm having some trouble organizing this though. Here is what we have right now:
Row a contains things like the names of raw materials, types of packaging, & labor.
The first couple of column contain calculations on these like cost per KG of raw materials, cost per unit for packaging, etc).
The following columns contain each product. So each product has a column where you can enter in how much of each raw material, packaging, & labor are required to make it. The next column displays the cost for all of these things. At the bottom of this column is a summation of the total cost for this product. Then there is another spreadsheet that pulls these numbers to calculate margins and things of that nature.
I can accomplish all of this in numbers, separating all of the functional sections into different tables, but the problem is this: Say I go to add a new raw material or a new type of packaging, when I add a row, the rows in all the other tables become "off" by a row. That is, if I add a new raw material, then the table that has the product formulas no longer reflects the right amounts of each raw material because it's been thrown off by that row. Am I approaching this wrong, or is there some way to make numbers keep track of row/column additions & deletions across tables that reference each other? Thanks.

  • Error in cost calculation for production order

    Dear All,
I got error of cost calculation while release of Production Order due to price of some material is not mantain .
What will happen if I release , save the Order with error & do Good Issue ???
    Ishwar

    Dear Ishwar,
Check the log's created for costing and rectify the same.
I feel its better to rectify the cost related errors and then release the production order and proceed to Good's Issue.
Check whether there is a MAP for all the Raw-materials and an origin group in costing 1 view.
The Finished product must be having a standard cost estimate that's valid for the current period.
Revert back in case of any more help needed.

  • Lookin for Unit cost addon for Sap B One

    Hi all,
I looking for some addon help me to make a quote using unit cost, because my company first need to know the cost of the finished work and after this produce it.
    thanks all

Please explain more for your need of Add-on.  I don't think any add-on will be just for unit cost.  You may found more manufacture process add-on like Fourth-Shift (SoftBrands).
    Thanks,

  • Production cost calculation for non discrete manufacturing

There is a problem I am facing in B1.
We are into manufacturing of chemicals, wherein your output is never exactly same as what you have given in Bill of materials or at the time of 'issue to production'. For example, I issue goods for a product X thinking that I will get 10 kgs output, but after actual production, the output may be 9.9 kgs or 10.1 kgs or 9.7 or 10.2 or whatever. The output will be close to expectation, but never exactly same. Now, the problem is, the cost of finished product is calculated at the time of issue, and so irrespective of how much output I get, the cost of producing it per unit remains the same, which is not the right way of doing it. It should calculate based on the output received (ie. total cost of inputs divided by output quantity), so when I get more output, the cost of manufacturing will be less, and vice versa. This is also resulting in incorrect journal entries between raw materials to work in progress (WIP) in 'issue to production' document and WIP to finished product in 'Receipt from production' document.
    How do I solve this??

    The process is:
    1. Write a production order and based on it print the production instructions. (I assume it will be a repetitive process with more then one receipt from production.)
    2. When the production of a portion is ends, copy the original order, modify the quantities in it according to the actual component and result quantity, make a receipt from production based on it and close this order.
    3. For the next portion repeat the process described in the point 2.
    4. When there is no more production based on the original order, you can close it.
(Probably there is no need for any stored procedure. )

  • Weighted avg and stdev calculations with SSAS

Hi, I need to write a calculation within BIDS calculations tab, that works for every query within my cube for a specific measure. I'd already tried several recommended approaches with no luck. Thanks!

I wanted to dynamically select a measure.  I created a dynamic Query that pulls back the expected stnd deviation and mean using this:
    With
    member
    [Mean] as
    iif(IsEmpty(Axis(0).Item(0)),
    NULL,
    Avg(Axis(1).Item(0).Item(0).Dimension.Children,
    Axis(0).Item(0))),
    format_string = 'percent'
    member
    [Standard Dev] as
    iif(IsEmpty(Axis(0).Item(0)),
    NULL,
    StdDev(Axis(1).Item(0).Item(0).Dimension.Children,
    Axis(0).Item(0)))
    select
    {[Measures].[Number 1],[Mean],[Standard Dev]}
    on 0,
    non empty([Date].[Calendar].[Month].&[2009]&[3]
    ,[Names].[Name].&[Name 1])
    on 1
    from
    [Cube]
    Where
    ([Organization].[Organization Name].&[Name 1]
I then take the members (from the dynamic query) and add them as 2 calculations (Mean and Standad Dev) in the cube.
I run this query after i deploy and process the cube:
    select
    {[Measures].[Number 1],[Mean],[Standard Dev]}
    on 0,
    non
    empty([Date].[Calendar].[Month].&[2009]&[3]
    ,[Names].[Name].&[Name 1])
    on 1
    from
    [Cube]
    Where
    ([Organization].[OrgName].&[[OrgName 1])
I come up  with the same results.  All is good, until I try to use report builder to add these calcuated measures.  Is there something special about the way report builder or cube browser (from SSMS) creates
the MDX behind the scenes that would prevent this dynamic query from working properly?  I am using the the OrgName in the filter and add the same measure, month, Name to the cube query designer.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.

  • Cost Calculation for Sales Order Collectively

    Hi,
We need to recalculate sales Order cost. We can recalculate Sales order cost in SAP T Code VA02 for individual sales order. I am having approx 1000 sales order of which cost needs to be recalculated. Can any one help me How to recalculate Cost of these sales order Collectively.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Pawan Kumar

    Hi,
I guess you should select B (carry new pricing). Although the system would try to reprice, in fact I guess that no pricing value would be change. If this doesn't fit your requirements then SD expert should answer your question (there are some ways you can control the pricing calculation, the ultimate way is some coding under REQUIREMENTS, but I would use it as last option).

  • Unit costing for materials assigned to activity - for material cost plannin

The requirement is that material cost to the company will vary depending upon the project/customer. Eg.: Material cost = basic material cost + a % for P&F + 2 % for Clearance + a % for excise + 2 % for insurance + a % for Customs
It can be a % or a lump-sum value. It can be all the components listed or part of them. This will be project specific.
Hence the following preference for material cost planning is required:
    1. Material cost based on quotation or Purchase order - If quote/PO is not available, then
2.Material cost based on unit costing done for the material in the project - If this is not available, then
    3. material cost from material master depending on price indicator i.e. Std cost or Moving average price
We are working with valuated project stock.
    SAP Help says"
"Prices are calculated in one of the following ways:
u2022     Using the strategy in the valuation variant
u2022     Manually, using the invoicing plan
    u2022     Using unit costing"
But how to get the cost as per the priority required when these three options are there is not clear.
I have tried to work with valuation variant in the costing variant assigned to Network. No valuation strategy explicitly refers to unit costing of material.
During various testings, at times, unit costing of material gets updated as planned cost; at times not. What triggers in also not clear.
    Pl. clarify
    Thanks and regards

    Hi All
I have psoted to service market place and got the reply; we have implemented also.
    there were 2 suggestiosn:
    1. Valuation price with user exit - (EXIT_SAPLCK21_002) - This user exit has to be implemented; we have implemented - it is working. But this is taking effect when overhead calculation is done - this we rae managing that way now
    2. Alternatively you can try to use BAdI VALUATION_CK.: This BADI is not editable by us now; SAP has not released for our editing!
    The problem is solved although
There is one more clarification  required:
As SAP Help documentation: -> Unit costing is used instead of strategy sequence, but not in between steps of strategy.
How to get this done ? right now we are using the strategy - inbetween steps of strategy with user exit
    Thanks and regards

  • Unit Costing in Material components

    Dear Experts,
I have come across a requirement where dummy materials are to be used for cost planning. These materials wonu2019t be processed any further. The planned cost for these materials is project specific ie. Material A in Project 001 costs 1 $ while same material in Project 002 costs 5$.
We are planning to use unit costing to cater this requirement. Unit costing works for Item category L.
The planned cost from Unit costing for material is considered when we create u201Creservation + purchaser requisitionu201D for WBS element for the material.
On Creating u201Creservationu201D for WBS element, the planned cost from Unit costing is ignored and the planned price is calculated as per the valuation strategy maintained in the Network costing variant (valaution variant). However it is intended that the cost for unit costing is to be considered for reservation for WBS.
We are using std. costing variant PS04 for material costing.
Is there something I am missing so that the planned cost for material from Unit costing is considered in case of reservation for WBS?
    Regards
    Sejo

    Phoenixcfa & Ahmed,
    Thanks for ur inputs.
I had already thought of the option you have suggested. In the currect process, the "Res / Purc. req." is maintained as "Immediate" at network header level. So the activity also inherits the same reservation relevance & it cannot be changed from "immediate" to "Never".
As suggested by Phoenixcfa it has some thing to do with split valuation. I could carry out the unit costing for a material with "res. for WBS" in IDES.
Hope, I will figure why it doesnot work our Dev system, soon.

  • Costing Run for Configurable Material

    Hi,
When I try to run costing run CK40N for KMAT material, I am geting information "No materials selected" for the 'selection' flow-step.
    Below is the Error description.
    No materials selected
    Message no. CK277
    Diagnosis
Due to the costing variant used, no materials could be selected for the cost estimate.
    System Response
    No materials were selected.
    Procedure
    1. First, check that the materials you want to cost exist.
    2. Then go into Customizing and check the costing variant, the reference variant, and the transfer control. If the plant changes, a suitable transfer strategy must be entered in the transfer control belonging to the reference variant.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Shiva

    hi Shiva,
It is not possible to do the cost calculation for configurable materials in CK40N or CK11N.
To do the product costing it is mainly required the BOM and Routing, but in case of configurable materials the BOM and Routing are not fixed(here Super BOM/Super Routing are used with valid object dependencies which may result in "n" number of material variants)
To do the costing for configurable material you can use t code - CU50 (configuration simulation)
Here in CU50 you can select the characteristics values which ultimately selects the valid BOM and Routing required for variant production and do the costing and check.

  • Unit costing in Sales Order

    Hi experts,
We have a custom logic to update the unit costing screen in the sales order.  Our custom program updates the sales order unit costing screen using BDC method by calling transaction VA02.  But it impacted the performance of the system a lot because we are having around 10000 sales order items to be updated every day.
Is there any other t.codes, programs or function modules to update the unit costing screen without accessing VA02.
I am a SD consultant, so don't have any knowledge in CO area.  Please help me...
    Thanks in advance,

I know that accessing the VA01 / VA02 t.codes will kill the performance.   Is there any other t.code available in CO to update the unit cost estimate for sales order.  Or if any function modules?

    Hi all,
I have a requirement wherein I need to create a Unit costing for an item in Sales order. You can see this, when we select any item in the sales order and choose

  • Material scale price in cost calculation

    Hi Experts,
could any of You pls advice me with an 'inforecord scale price' - based calculation?
My calculation - material cost - based on inforecord price, but it is not correct when I want to make a calculation for ex. pilot products. During cost calculation for different costing lot size, I have different material qty requirement. Scale price is exist in inforecord. In the calculation the system always check the scale price of the material - based on the costing lot size in the material master, and do not care about how much the actual raw material need in the calcuation.
Ex. the scale price is 1-100 pcs X USD, 101-1000 pcs Y USD -mat.master lot size: 1000; I have a calculation for 600 pcs - which requires 60 pcs of the raw material. In this case I want the system to have the 1-100 pcs X USD - as actual need on calculation, but the system takes the 101-1000 PCS Y USD - as material lot size. So I really can not check how much the pilot will cost: 100 pcs, 400 pcs etc to produce, but I always have to maintain the component material masters with changing the calc. lot size in material master (first I have to check how much will be the consumption in the following calculation...)
I want to have a calculation, when the real raw material consumption in the calculation is checked and the scale price is match with it.
Do You have any good idea, how to handle?
    Br

    Dear,
thank You for answering and investigating into this issue, You get a good point, but my setting is actually different form standard:
In my calculation through costing variant and valuation variant - the inforecord has higher priority than the planned price - we only use planned price form mat. master if no relevant inforecord exist, but in my case there are inforecords with scale price.
Issuing production order is not enought for me for checking all costs - some additonal cost components are exist - through overhead determination such as duty, freight,  etc. which has been defined using overhead group and overhead key, and assigned to material in material master (costing view).
I know it is a bit more complex than a normal quantity structure calculation - but this is the one, I have to deal with. Available CO-consultant told me, this scale -price handling is MM-issue, that is why I ask MM  guys first.
Anyone pls, have some idea about inforecord scale price in cost calculation based on component requirement in actual calculation. I would appreciate a lot.

  • How to obtain Unit Cost information

    Hi,
Which table contains the unit cost information for an invoice item? How do you obtain this information?
By Unit cost, I mean output such as '850.10/100'. This means every 100 units costs $850.10/100. Where is this stored?
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    John

Is there anything like this in the BKPF or BSEG tables?

  • Cost Calculator

    Hello,
I am creating a cost calculator for a hobby of mine and was wondering what would be some good ways of handling it. It does not have to be real fancy and I would like it to be contained to one page. Ideally I want to fill in the blanks, click the calculate button and then it will display the results. Here is my base that I am working with. I know how to do the actual calculating routines, I just need some input on some good ways to go about it. TIA.

The actual math part, I understand what needs to be done, I guess what I should have said is what is the best way to kick off the calculations after the calculate button is pressed and to display the dollar amounts for the cost/qty at the bottom of the form.
