Weird and Wonderfull BB-Vision / Experts and Mods ...

I have some questions about slow Broadband, Vision V04 error message and an IPlayer Code 0 error message (at end of this message).
IMO the Vision V04 and IPlayer issues are directly associated with unreliable and inconsistent Broadband.
Background
I have raised this issue a number of times in the past through the BT Complaints procedure, 30-06-2010, 11-08-2010, 04-06-2011, 07-06-2011, and today. I have also phoned the 0800-111-4567 help line a number of times with regard to the same issue.
As an indication the following is a Total Broadband graph of my speed results, from November 2010 through to 25-06-2011.
I have been taking ADSL Stats and BT Speedtester results, which I record to a spreadsheet, since May and three times a day since the beginning of June. I can post some of these results if it will help.
An engineer came on the 9th June, fitted an ADSL v 1.0 plate and disconnected the earth wire. During the visit the engineer checked my line and stated that it was fine and should be capable of BB speeds in excess of 4.0 mbps (actually should be able to get up to 5.0 mbps). I contacted BT on the 14th June to switch me back from fast to interleaved, which was done later that day. The switch to fast was done a few weeks earlier at the suggestion of a person on the help line.
From the 14th June, after the switch to interleaved, BB speed was relatively stable although there was a restart about twenty four hours later not initiated by me. From this time, 15th June through to the 21st June, almost six days without any restarts, noise margin stayed reasonably consistent at between 14.0 dB and 15.0 dB (down). Other stats also stayed reasonably consistent with speeds in the 2.7 mbps range and an IP Profile of 3.0 mbps.
On the evening of the 21st June there was another (automatic-system) restart. Since then all stats have fluctuated drastically. Noise margin has generally increased to the current figure of 28.8 dB (down). Attenuation has occasionally increased to 45.0 and 47.0 dB but then falls back to the consistent level of 43.0 dB. Power output has also occasionally varied and is at the current level of 15.6 dBm (down). I also have high FEC Errors and Error Seconds. CRC and HEC Errors are generally low.
Over the past five to six days restarts have been happening on a daily basis usually between 16.00 and 17.00 hours. Monitoring the line stats during this period shows that the noise margin reduces to below 1.0 dB (probably 0), this happens within minutes until the broadband signal disappears. Approximately five minutes later it will re-establish. This sometimes happens more than once. During this time the Hub broadband light turns orange and flashes until the connection is re-established when it turns a solid blue. Last night and this morning the BT Speedtester failed with the message unable to complete the Assured Rate test.
The hub is connected direct to the main telephone plate.
I have also noted that Openreach have been working in Fawley-Holbury, and around the 23rd June there was a fault in theSouthampton area that affected 0238 numbers (my exchange number). Apparently this fault was resolved.
I have also noted noise on the telephone line using the 17070-2 silent line test.
One final point, a neighbour also has a HomeHub2. Checking my network connections the neighbour’s hub consistently gives a higher wireless output than mine. This is surprising as my hub is only three to four metres away from my pc whereas the neighbours must be a minimum of at least ten to fifteen metres and behind two external brick walls, maybe more.
I purchased the HomeHub2, in October 2008, it is a V 2.0 Type A (firmware 8.1.H.J updated 18-03-2011; it was not supplied free with BT Vision. I have had BT Vision since December 2008, I have the silver STB.
I have just done a complete system reset of the Hub and Vision box, plugged the vision box direct in to Port 1 on the Hub, Port 2 goes to the master Powerline adaptor. The slave Powerlines are plugged in to a Blu-ray player and an old laptop. The ADSL Stats improved but the assured rate test still failed.
Questions
1/. Is my HomeHub2 defunct should I get an alternative?
2/. Is my telephone line the cause of the problem or are both the hub and line defective.
3/. Why is a neighbour’s Homehub giving a stronger wireless signal than mine.
4/. I seem to be able to use ‘on demand’ and the IPlayer with Best Effort and Assured Rate speeds far below the recommended 2.0 mbps (not complaining but this is not reliable).
5/. How can my Assured Rate speed test result be higher than the Best Effort test, when my Assured Rate IP Profile is 600 kbps, example Best Effort 873 kbps, Assured Rate 1230 kbps.
6/. With and AR IP Profile of 600 kbps how can I achieve speeds in excess of 2000 kbps (several occasions), highest recorded 2996 kbps with a BE of 3684 kbps, with a BE IP Profile of 2500 kbps.
7/. Why should the hub output power vary?
8/. Can RFI (radio frequency interference) cause problems? I am close to the Fawley Refinery and the Solent, theSolentwill have ships and ferries with radar and there are possibly microwaves near by and I am about 400-500 metres from a mobile phone mast. I am also 400-500 metres from overhead high voltage power lines, which distribute from the Fawley Power Station, but this is only used as a stand-by so I have ruled out interference from these. This does not appear to affect other ISP’s from the Fawley exchange. (See the Think Broadband map).

@guilbo
Thanks for the comments. I tried to register a fault and did a test on my phone line through the BT.com (MyBT) site. It said there was no problem with my line. I followed this with a 17070-2 silent line test and as far as I was concerned it was noisy. I will wait a few days to let my curent complaint work through the system and then phone BT and report a noisy line. My current stats are as follows;

As you can see the BT Speedtester site is still not giving me any results. The Think Broadband and Speedtest.net sites are indicating only 300-400 kbps.
My wireless has improved slightly, I downloaded inSSIDer 2.0 software and it shows my HomeHub2 neighbour is on a different channel. This is also true for the other wireless BB in the area.. Probably why my signal strength has improved.

  • PSE 11- FX and Graphics buttons not working under Expert Editor Mode

Under 'FX' in Expert Editor mode, the Filters, Styles and Effects tabs do not work, and similarly under "Graphics" the shapes and text tabs do not work. I have looked at C:\Programmes\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\Plug-Ins\Panels and find the 'Panels' folder is empty, which suggests this is a possible cause?? EDitor and Organiser are otherwise (at long last after Organiser faults rectified) now working fine. PSE 11 is running under Windows XP Service Pack 3. Any suggestions please ??

Thank you Jon; I see what you mean about creating an FX layer and by double clicking I can bring up the adjustments. Problem is when I go into Expert Editor mode, at the bottom right side of screen are five 'buttons' - Layers, Effects, Graphics, Favourites and More. When I click Layers, I get the Layers Pane up on right hand side and it works fine as I can create different layers etc, however when I press 'FX' I bring up a plain grey panel with three headings at the top of it; Filters, Styles and Effects - these do absolutely nothing, even if I am working on an FX layer and I am guessing something has gone missing or been corrupted.
The 'Graphics' button now works (I told it to search Windows>Graphics, which I read in another post)

  • Making weird noise and won't go into disc mode and all kinds of icons

after having many problems, i managed to get my ipod into disc mode and format it. However, i'm still having similar problems. When i turn it on, it goes on normally but when i connect it to my computer it freezes it. When i try to restart the ipod while connected to the computer, i get the battery is discharged icon, or sometimes the sick icon first and then the discharged icon, and i'm not able to put it into disc mode. After i get the icons, the only way i can get it to start again is to toggle the hold switch many times (took me awhile to figure this out..). Also, the ipod makes a weird repeated disc noise sometimes when its connected or if i'm starting it. If i try to restart the ipod without it being connected to the computer, i get the sick icon until i toggle the hold switch. can anybody help? thanks!
actually, i've managed to get it into disc mode, but it just makes the repeated weird noise nonstop and it doesn't let me open any programs on my computer so i can't format it.

    Hello,
If a sad iPod icon or an exclamation point and folder icon appears on your iPod’s screen, or with sounds of clicking or HD whirring, it is usually the sign of a hard drive problem and you have the power to do something about it now. Your silver bullet of resolving your iPod issue – is to restore your iPod to factory settings.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
If you're having trouble, try these steps at different levels one at a time until the issue is resolved. These steps will often whip your iPod back into shape.
Make sure you do all the following “TRYs”
    A. Try to wait 30 minutes while iPod is charging.
    B. Try another FireWire or USB through Dock Connector cable.
    C. Try another FireWire or USB port on your computer .
    D. Try to disconnect all devices from your computer's FireWire and USB ports.
    E. Try to download and install the latest version of iPod software and iTunes
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    F. Try these five steps (known as the five Rs) and it would conquer most iPod issues.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
    G. Try to put the iPod into Disk Mode if it fails to appear on the desktop
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
If none of these steps address the issue, you may need to go to Intermediate level listed below in logical order. Check from the top of the lists to see if that is what keeping iPod from appearing on your computer in order for doing the Restore.
    Intermediate Level
    A. Try to connect your iPod with another computer with the iPod updater pre-installed.
    B. Still can’t see your iPod, put it in Disk Mode and connect with a computer, instead of doing a Restore on iPod Updater. Go and format the iPod instead.
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
In case you do not manage to do a “Format” on a window computer, try to use some 3rd party disk utility software, e.g.“Partition Magic”.
    C. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    Tips
    a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iPod updater.
    b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
    c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”

    Advance Level
    A. Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
    iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". The scroll wheel will not function while in diagnostic mode. For further details on Diagnostic mode can be found at http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/
Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service.
    B. Format your iPod with a start disk
I have not tried this solution myself, I heard that there were few successful cases that the users managed to get their iPod (you must put your iPod in disk mode before connecting with a computer) mounted by the computer, which was booted by a system startup disk. For Mac, you can use the Disk Utility (on the Tiger OS system disk), for PC user, you can use the window OS system disk. Try to find a way to reformat your iPod, again it does not matter which format (FAT32, NTFS or HFS+) you choose, the key is to erase the corrupted system files on the iPod. Then eject your iPod and do a Reset to switch out from Disk Mode. Reboot your computer at the normal way, connect your iPod back with it, open the iPod updater, and hopefully your iPod will appear there for the Restore.
If none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired.
Consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/
In case your iPod is no longer covered by the warranty and you want to find a second repairing company, you can try iPodResQ at your own risk
    http://www.ipodresq.com/index.php
Just in case that you are at the following situation
    Your iPod warranty is expired
You don’t want to pay any service charges
You are prepared to buy a new one
You can’t accept the re-sell value of your broken iPod
Rather than leave your iPod as paper-weight or throw it away.
You can try the following, but again, only do it as your last resort and at your own risk.
Warning ! – It may or may not manage to solve your problem, and with a risk that you may further damage your iPod, which end up as an expensive paper weight or you need to pay more higher repairing cost. Therefore, please re-consider again whether you want to try the next level
    Last Resort Level
    1. . Disconnecting the Hard Drive and battery inside the iPod – Warning !! Your iPod warranty will be waived once you open the iPod.
In Hong Kong there are some electronic shops offering an iPod service for Sad iPod, the first thing they do is to open up the iPod’s case and disconnecting the battery and the Hard Drive from the main board of the iPod. Wait for 5-10 minutes and reconnecting them back. The reason behind which I can think of is to do a fully reset of a processor of the iPod. In case you want do it itself and you believe that you are good on fixing the electronics devices and have experience to deal with small bits of electronic parts, then you can read the following of how to open the iPod case for battery and HDD replacement (with Quicktimes)

2.Press the reset button on the Hard Drive inside the iPod – Suggestion from Kill8joy
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2438774#2438774
Have I tried these myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case. Therefore, I agree with suggestion to have it fixed by a Pro.

  • My Macbook Pro(2010) only writes in capitol letters, can´t write numbers and only starts up in safe mode once a week!

    Hey guys!
So my Macbook started acting weird a couple of months ago. All of a sudden i could only write in capitol letters and i couldnt write any numbers. Every time i tried to write a number, i would only get the symbols instead such as " "#¤%&/ "  etc. I tried restarting it and the computer booted in safe mode and still had the same problem as before. I decided to read around some forums and someone suggested " zapping the PRAM" which i did and it fixed the problem for about 1-2 days and then it was back to the normal.
I decided to turn in my computer to an authorized Apple technician to take a look at it and after a few days i got a phonecall saying that he had run tests for 6 hours but couldnt figure out what was wrong with the computer, he just knew that something was wrong. When i got the computer back it was working perfectly but the weird thing is that every now and then the same thing would happen with the keyboard and the weirdest part is that it usually stopped working on fridays, once a week.. Anyways i have done all i can, now im turning to you guys for some much appriciated help.
Any suggestion on how to fix this problem of mine?

Actually it sometimes gets a little further, the display will dim and the pointer will appear and then whoop it will turn off. if i do a verbose start up, it will finish all the steps, the white screen will appear and dim and then it will turn off.

  • Firefox immediately reports problem on start and cannot be opened in safe mode.

Anti-virus and anti-malware are run and no problems reported.
Firefox reports error: firefox.exe has encountered an error and needs to be close.
Firefox will still run for a little while but eventually crashes. Same problem in safe mode.
The weird thing is Chrome also experiences same problems since firefox had these symptoms. Instead, Chrome shows "Aw Snap" on all pages. It however does work with a --no-sandbox command on startup.

I think it would be a good idea if you performed a clean install. Any corrupt files which are on the system and are causing this problem will be replaced. It's a very simple process and you won't lose any bookmarks. Here's how.
Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0.1] and download to the desktop.
Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box'').
Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.

  • I have two airport extremes, one acting as amodem and the other operating in bridge mode.  The extremes are connected using ethernet, but remain connected even when I disconnect the Cat5a cable. How do I know if they are operating wired or wirelessly

I have two airport extremes, one acting as a modem and the other operating in bridge mode.  The extremes are connected using ethernet, but remain connected even when I disconnect the Cat5a cable (I did this to check that the 100 feet of Cat 5a cable connecting them was working). How do I find out if they are operating wired or wirelessly?  I want to know as I assume I will get much better speeds if they are wired.

Hi Bob, many thanks for the prompt response.  I think I did what you suggested, but you're the expert so I have sent over a few screenshots.  The extreme in question is High Birches Home Office (the rest of the network has been in place and working well for some time).  My new home office is going to be in the garden, circa 100 feet from the main house.  I have installed armoured Cat5e cable down to the shed that is going to be adjacent to the home office once built and situated the High Birches Home Office Airport Extreme there temporarily.  Everything works well, so I was surprised when I unplugged the ethernet, that it still worked.  I also tested the ethernet cable by switching off my laptop's wifi and unplugging the cable from the airport extreme and directly into the laptop and that worked ok.
If the screenshots below (I did every Airport utility tab for the High Birches Home Office) don't tell you anything more, then the set-by-step instructions would greatly appreciated so I can ensure I completed the steps correctly.
    Many
    Thanks, Greg.

  • Weird problem with Macbook Pro 15" and Asus PB278 monitor

    Hi there
I recently bought a brand new MacBook pro 15" the one with a dedicated nvidia 750 vid card. However I'm facing weird problems while connecting it to a external monitor Asus PB278 (1440p monitor). I use a mini display port to display port cable.
My problem is: Sometimes it works perfectly, but then if I put the laptop to sleep, sometimes it won't recognise the screen at wake up, at first I tried to restart the system, power on and off the monitor, connecting and reconnecting the cable... nothing worked. I even bought a expensier cable thinking it was probably a low quality cable. I found that then only way to fix this is to connect the monitor with a mini display to HDMI cable I have (won't support over 1080p), and then put the mini display to display port cable again... it is freaking bizarre.
This is very frustrating, I live outside the US and while the retailer will honor the guarantee I'm not sure if this is a Software or Hardware problem, It will take them about 3 weeks to replace my system which is unfortunate due to I have plenty of work to do. I don't want to send it on guarantee just to find out hey... display recognition is broken again. My questions are:
Is there a way to know if this is a hardware or software problem?
I've heard Yosemite is having some issues regarding external displays, is this one of those?
Have you found yourself experiencing this problem? Could you fix it?
Sorry if my english is a bit weird, thanks in advance.

    Hi Gatobolo,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It appears that you've discovered unusual behavior with your MacBook Pro and an external display, where you need to temporarily connect a different display adapter before you can use your Asus PB278 again.
I can offer some additional tips to help resolve or further isolate the issue you're seeing.
First, try the following resets to see if they eliminate the behavior:
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
Next, if the issue occurs again, try restarting your Mac into Safe Mode:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
You can find the steps above in this article:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays - Apple Support
If your display is recognized in Safe Mode, or after restarting again, the issue may be due to a software conflict.
Another suggestion mentioned in the article above is to try a different type of display adapter, such as a Mini DisplayPort to Dual Link DVI adapter.
If the issue persists, you can also back up your data, erase your hard drive, and reinstall a fresh copy of OS X Yosemite.
OS X Yosemite: Erase and reinstall OS X
If the issue still occurs after a clean install, troubleshooting the hardware may be necessary.

  • Why do the results between the OCR in the Vision Assistant and OCR in a VI generated from the vision assistant might defer?

    Hi everybody,
I had a problem while I was trying to run OCR on my image in my LabVIEW code. The algorithm did not detected what I was expecting on the image.
I decided to run the test on the vision assistant and it worked perfectly: I got the expected results.#
I assumed then that my code had different parameters, so I decided to generate a VI from the vision asssistant and run it on LabVIEW for the same image, just to verify.I did not change anything on the VI (all parameters are the same), and I used the same image. Surprinsingly the results are different between the assistant and the VI. That strikes me a lot! I have checked alll possible configurable parameters and they have the same values as in the Vision assistant. Does anybody have an idea about what could be the reason of this behaviour?  Thanks
    Regards,
    Esteban

    Esteban,
do you use the same images for OCR? Or do you take a new snap shot before running the OCR?
What steps of debugging did you use in LV?

  • Running Dual boot windows 8 and win 7 pro with xp mode installed!! I love it!!

It took over 2 days to figure out how to adjust the bios to get my win 7 pro DVD to boot and install dual boot on this GREAT MACHINE!!
Step 1: using diskmgmt.msc you have to shring the C partition. I shrunk it so I had 80GB remaining as unallocated space.
Step 2: You have to enter the machine Bios adn set the BIOS to Both and UEFI as first
Step 3: Connect your usb dvd
Step 4: Put your win 7 pro dvd in the usb dvd drive
Step 5: Reboot your machine and when it starts press F12 to get the boot menu and select the usb dvd drive then press enter
    The machine restarts
Message on screen says press a key to boot from cd/dvd
Press space and it boots up the win 7 pro DVD
After files copy and load the setup screen asks to accept the agreement and where to install win 7
BE SURE TO SELECT THE 80GB location
Then follow thru the win 7 prompts to load it.
When the machine restarts you will see a dual boot screen with Windows 7 on top as first selection and Windows 8 below it as 2nd selection.
Make sure to hit enter with windows 7 selected
    The win 7 installation completes.
You will see many items with drivers not installed dont fret.
You can load most of the drivers by highlighting the device in control panel/device manager and pick update driver then select BROWSE for DRIVER and be sure to put in drive D:\ which is now the windows 8 drive and hit search.
Many of the windows 8 drivers installed with no issue.
The Realtek driver was an exception .. goto to the lenovo site and pick the x100e tablet and download the LAN driver from there  about (4MB). Copy it to flash drive and install it in win 7 from the .exe file. The driver for LAN will install sucessfully. The version of the driver is 7.46 something the 7.11 versions do not workl.
I have only 3 drivers that I could not find - 2 list as unknown and are related to ACPI or power management and 1 lists as USB controller but all the USB stuff works without it.
Be sure to either shutdown the system or sign out of win 8 when your done so you get the dual boot menu. If you shutdown while logged into win 8 the next time you start up it will go right to win 8 until you signout and restart.
Just to let you know an easy way to shutdown is go to the desktop and press ALT + FN + F4 and a shutdown menu comes up on the desktop.
Once win 7 pro is installed you can download the XP mode free from Microsoft and install it.
This is of course AFTER you have ACTIVATED WINDOWS 7 ONLINE with YOUR ACTIVATION KEY(you supply).
ENJOY! This is the BEST machine I ever had!

It's been many, many years since I don't do dual boot anymore. Don't find the reason to do it, either. Different kinds of virtualization should be enough. Anyway...

  • Is there a way to create and edit a video in portrait mode / 9:16 in Premiere Elements 12 or 13. Playback on an iPhone in portrait position.

I'm editing iPhone app video for posting as the first screen in the Apple app store. Required size for the video is 750:1334, 9:16. I there a way to setup the initial video in portrait mode? Many posts for how to rotate a specific clip, but I need the whole video in portrait position. How to accomplish this? I'm using Windows 7 and Premiere Elements 12 and now 13.

    LaurieFrick
Thanks for giving this portrait Edit area monitor shape a look.
I have Windows 7 64 bit and Windows 8.1 64 bit and have done the work using Premiere Elements 12/12.1 on Windows 7 64 bit.
Here is a step by step
Find the DSLR [email protected] file
    Local Disk C\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 12\Settings\SequencePresets\NTSC\DSLR\1080p\
And, in that 1080p Folder is the DSLR 1080p30@ 29.97.sqpreset file that you seek.
    1. Copy the
    DSLR 1080p30@ 29.9.sqpreset fileI
and paste it to the computer desktop in a newly created folder named 1920p.
    2. Open the 1920p Folder and edit the ..sqpreset file in Notepad.
To do that right click the .sqpreset, and, from the pop up, select Open With and then Notepad.
    3. In the Notepad document, you are going to edit in only 2 places for now, switching 1920 and 1080 to 1080 and 1920 at the top and bottom
    sections of the Notepad document.
Then go specifically File Menu/Save of the Notepad document and hit Save.
    4. At this point, you have the edited.sqpreset file in the 1920p Folder on the computer desktop.
(Change the name of the edited .sqpreset file so that it = DSLR [email protected])
Move the 1920p Folder from there to add it to the 1080p Folder, the location where you found the original .sqpreset file that you edited.
    Close out of there.
    5. Back in the Premiere Elements 12/12.1, manually set the project preset to the new project preset
    6. When you import your 1080 x 1920 9:16 video file into the project and drag it into the Timeline, you should see
Note that there is no orange line over that Timeline content, indicating that you are seeing
the best possible preview of the image.
    7. As I wrote before,
But, here is the hang up. If I render the Timeline content to get the best possible preview at the Edit level, the video in the Edit area monitor
squeezes in resulting in black borders to the left and right of the video image on screen.
But, otherwise I found I had no problems editing or exporting, just had to keep away from Timeline rendering for previewing after an edit. Need to find the missing ingredient for 100%.
I will be writing this up in my blog in a more organized fashion including how I got the project preset description in Change Settings to agree with the changes. Probably I will do that in the morning.

  • Macbook Pro trackpad and keyboard freezes after attempting sleep mode

I bought this computer on April 2008. It has the latest OS X 10.5.6 and it did not accept the trackpad firmware. I tried to install and the software said "this computer does not need this update".
This has been happening a lot when I am using Skype while talking to someone with video and sound. The computer tries to go on sleep mode because I am not typing or touching it - it thinks I am away because I am just talking and watching the person on the other side.
I touch the computer to avoid getting on sleep mode and with that it freezes the trackpad and keyboard. I continue to listen and see the other person and they continue to see me and hear me, but I cannot move the "mouse" cursor on the screen or type anything. Neither can I force to quit anything. The only thing that works is to close the computer and open again, that forces the computer to go into sleep mode then I can make it wake up again by opening it and touching any key on the keyboard.
This have been interrupting Skype calls and a study I am conduting. I have to keep touching the computer trackpad to not let it sleep ever. I am concerned is something with the battery or maybe it needs some kind of firmware.
This is very recent, just started happening this week (March 2009). I have not added any new software or any hardware to the machine.
What can I do to make the trackpad and keyboard stop freezing when the computer tries to sleep?

this is in the wrong category. I added a new message to the right category: MacBook Pro but I don't know how to delete it from here.

  • My classic video ipod won't switch back to regular video mode after using it on an elliptical. The port still allows me to charge and works on the elliptical and treadmill but it will no longer change modes to allow me to watch my shows on the ipod screen

My classic video ipod won't switch back to regular video mode after using it on an elliptical. The port still allows me to charge and works on the elliptical and treadmill but it will no longer change modes to allow me to watch my shows on the ipod screen

From the iPod's Main Menu choose Videos -> Settings and make sure TV Out is set to Off.
Otherwise, try a hard reset as well.  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
