What are popular automated tests for Java GUI applications

Hi, I want to find a good automated test for java swing for my project. I have a list of UISpec4j, JFCUnit and Abbot.

There is also jemmy. I haven't used any of them, though...

What are the pre-requisite for JAVA Proxy communication?

    Hi,
You can install the Java proxy runtime on the SAP J2EE Engine Release 6.40 SP5 or higher.
The messaging system that the Java proxy runtime uses to send messages to the Integration Server must also be installed on the J2EE server.
To send messages from a J2EE application, the application must be programmed against beans that encapsulate all details about the Java runtime. The following classes are generated:
    ·        Proxy classes that send or receive messages using the Java proxy runtime.
    ·        Bean classes as an outer shell that conform to the J2EE standard. The beans call the proxy classes for communication.
The classes must be deployed on the J2EE server together with their J2EE application
see this link for the example scenario http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f272165e-0401-0010-b4a1-e7eb8903501d

  • Is there a forum for Java GUI Application Design?

    Hi all,
I've used this forum a lot and found a lot of help on it for Swing usage specifics. However, whenever I ask a question about broader design or architecture of a full Swing app I get little or no response. Sadly I'm no stranger to "view 50, replies 0" :o(
Either I'm asking stupid questions or I'm asking the in the wrong forum - does anyone know of a good place to ask about design/best practices for Java, GUI applications? I've seen some of the "programmer"/"developer" groups on Google Groups.
    Many thanks.
Yours, hoping for at least one reply,
    Chris

You're right, I typed that wrong. The method signature should be addDataChangeListener(DataChangeListener lis, DataChangeType type)
When a component registers itself as a change listener, say it wants to know whenever an object of type Foo is changed, it calls DataChangeType.addDataChangeListener(this, DataChangeType.FOO). (the Enum elements coorespond to the objects we want to listen for) Then it implements the dataChanged(DataChangeType type, Object obj) method that will be called by the controller when objects of type Foo are changed. (obviously this is an interface) Whenever a component updates an object of type Foo, it calls DataChangeControl.dataChanged(DataChangeType.FOO, theFooObject), and then the controller will notify all listeners who are interested in Foo objects changing.
The DataChangeControl maintains a hashmap of <DataChangeType, List < DataChangeListener> >. So when a new listener is added, it checks the type to see if a list is already keyed to that object type in the hashmap. If so it adds the listener to that list, if not it creates a new list in the hashmap with the type as the key. That way when an object is changed, it notifies only those listeners who are registered to listen to that type of object being changed. Hopefully that makes sense.

  • What are Best Practice Recommendations for Java EE 7 Property File Configuration?

Where does application configuration belong in modern Java EE applications? What best practice(s) recommendations do people have?
By application configuration, I mean settings like connectivity settings to services on other boxes, including external ones (e.g. Twitter and our internal Cassandra servers...for things such as hostnames, credentials, retry attempts) as well as those relating business logic (things that one might be tempted to store as constants in classes, e.g. days for something to expire, etc).
    Assumptions:
We are deploying to a Java EE 7 server (Wildfly 8.1) using a single EAR file, which contains multiple wars and one ejb-jar.
We will be deploying to a variety of environments: Unit testing, local dev installs, cloud based infrastructure for UAT, Stress testing and Production environments. **Many of  our properties will vary with each of these environments.**
We are not opposed to coupling property configuration to a DI framework if that is the best practice people recommend.
All of this is for new development, so we don't have to comply with legacy requirements or restrictions. We're very focused on the current, modern best practices.
Does configuration belong inside or outside of an EAR?
If outside of an EAR, where and how best to reliably access them?
If inside of an EAR we can store it anywhere in the classpath to ease access during execution. But we'd have to re-assemble (and maybe re-build) with each configuration change. And since we'll have multiple environments, we'd need a means to differentiate the files within the EAR. I see two options here:
Utilize expected file names (e.g. cassandra.properties) and then build multiple environment specific EARs (eg. appxyz-PROD.ear).
Build one EAR (eg. appxyz.ear) and put all of our various environment configuration files inside it, appending an environment variable to each config file name (eg cassandra-PROD.properties). And of course adding an environment variable (to the vm or otherwise), so that the code will know which file to pickup.
What are the best practices people can recommend for solving this common challenge?
    Thanks.

    HI Bob,
As sometimes when you create a model using a local wsdl file then instead of refering to URL mentioned in wsdl file it refers to say, "C:\temp" folder from where you picked up that file. you can check target address of logical port. Due to this when you deploy application on server it try to search it in "c:\temp" path instead of it path specified at soap:address location in wsdl file.
Best way is  re-import your Adaptive Web Services model using the URL specified in wsdl file as soap:address location.
    like http://<IP>:<PORT>/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel<xirequest>
or you can ask you XI developer to give url for webservice and username password of server

  • Automation testing for sap bw backend

    Hello Gurus,
do you have some idea for automation testing of sap bw backend?
    Many thaniks

    Hi,
If you are looking about data reconcolization or Data testing between ECC and BW  then I already given solution in your previous thread. i.e. Who will involve in UAT thread.
Automation testing for sap bw backend: What testing?. We don't have such kind of concept, for Java, VB etc  applications they will test all fields and code, but we don't  have automation testing for sap bw backend.
    Thanks

  • What are the needed tools for JDBC???

iam new to this field, i want to know what are the required tools for JDBC??
i know that i need java.sql and javax.sql packages, but how can i get them???
    what about the drivers???
    thnx in advance

You need to go to the vendor's web site such as Oracle and download the jar file for that particular database. Example: ojdbc14.jar for an oracle database and copy it to the 'lib' folder of your project and then include it with your project. Within that jar file, you will have datasource, preparedStatement, resultSet objects. You will need to read up on how to instansiate the datasource for that database from the vendor's documentation.

  • What are the best practices for generating an EPS logo from InDesign?

Our costomer is running into technical issues with the logo we sent them, which was exported from Indesign. Images were not embedded and fonts missing. I was able to embed the images and fonts. However, we DO NOT want them to be able to make any text changes. So after exporting an eps, I opened the file in Adobe Illustrator and made all the text outlines. I hope this works. But I just wanted to post the question on what are the best practices for doing this?
The client needs the logo with transparent background, images emebdded and type in outlines. Also, they need some space around the text. When I exported the eps, the file is right up on the edge of the type.

It sounds like you are pretty far from "best practice" with regard to logo design and delivery.
These days, the very use of the EPS format should be considered bad practice, and some other terms in your post, (i.e., 'images,' 'missing fonts'), make it sound like there is not a seasoned logo designer involved.
That said, you probably already got the advice you need to get out of the immediate jam. However, without proper logo design, you and the client will soon be facing other problems. You should be delivering a 100% vector graphic in single-color (black) and corporate-color(s) versions, with no live font data, that has been test-scaled to very small and very large sizes; ensuring it will work at postage-stamp size and on the side of a truck or building, with specific spot color(s) and proportions that will enable it to be offset printed, embroidered and screen-printed on apparel, and cut into signage materials and decals.

  • What are cookie domains used for?

there is a choice, can someone give me some suggestion?
What are cookie domains used for?
A/ to be easily recognizable by digital certificates that are also based on domains
B/ to instruct the browser that the cookie should be send only to the domain it came from
C/ to provide convenient way for the user to group cookies by their domains
    D/ All of Above
    E/ None of Above

Not only does that not appear to be a Java question,
but the OP didn't even take a guess at the answer and
explain why he thought that that answer was correct.thanks! i support with your viewpoint, solve a problem will be the most important mission, but not consured! i am cognizant of this is a mistake to ask other questions in java forum ,but this question didn't far away j2ee project, though this is a choice, but only get a answer is not my original intention! i hope i can call on anyone join in this discussion!

  • What are the pre-requisites for learning OA Framework?

    Hi,
Im new to oaf,can any body help on this
What are the pre-requisites for learning OA Framework?
    Karthik

In order to develop any OAF Application you need to know few concepts before doing any kind of development. The concepts are basically the Business Components for Java(BC4J) components.
    They are:
    Application Module(AM)
    Entity Object(EO)
    View Object(VO)
    Association Object(AO)
    View Link(VL)
Now let us see the description of each component.
    Application Module:
Application Modules serve as a containers for related BC4J components. The pages are related by participating in the same task. It also defines the logical data model and business methods needed. They provide the transaction context and also used for establishing database connection. AM’s can be nested to provide more complex AM’s.
    Entity Object:
EO encapsulates the business logic and rules.EO’s are used for Inserting,Updating and Deleting data. This is used for validating across the applications. We can also link to other EO’s and create a Association object.
    View Object:
View object encapsulates the database query. It is used for selecting data. It provides iteration over a query result set.VO’s are primarily based on Eo’s. It can be used on multiple EO’s if the UI is for update. It provides a single point of contact for getting and setting entity object values. It can be linked together to form View Links.
    Association Object:
An association object is created where we link EO’s. For example take the search page where we link the same EO to form a association between the manager and employee. Every employee should have a manager associated. But if it President then no there is no manager associated. This is a perfect example to understand the AO.
    View Link:
A view link is an active link between view links. A view link can be created by providing the source and destination views and source and destination attributes. There are two modes of View link operation that can be performed. A document and Master/Detail operation.

  • What are the ideal specs for a DigiBeta master tape when authoring a "widescreen anamorphic" 16:9 SD DVD (original aspect ratio is 14:9)?

I just received the masters for a new SD DVD. I would like to author a "widescreen anamorphic" SD DVD horizontally squeezed widescreen image stored in a standard 4:3 aspect ratio DVD image frame. (On 4:3 displays, mattes should preserve the original aspect ratio. On 16:9 displays the image will fill the screen at the highest possible resolution.)
Below I've listed the specs of the Digi Beta master tapes the producers have sent to me for digitizing. I'd like to know this: What are the ideal specs for a DigiBeta master tape when authoring a widescreen anamorphic SD DVD, using material with an original aspect ratio of 14:9?
I've also listed my guesses below. Please let me know if my guesses are right. If not, please suggest alternatives (and if possible explain why.)
    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS OF EXISTING MASTER:
    Tape: DigiBeta
    Original Aspect Ratio: 1.55 (14:9)
    Vid Rate: 29.97 fps
Pixel Aspect: NTSC - CCIR 601
    Frame Size: 720 x 480
Anamorphic: Full-Height Anamorphic (16:9 image displayed in letterboxed, non-distored 4:3)
    Display Format: 4:3 Letterbox
MY GUESS AT IDEAL TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS (for a DigiBeta, that is):
    Tape: DigiBeta
    Original Aspect Ratio: 1.55 (14:9)
    Vid Rate: 29.97 fps
    Pixel Aspect: Square
    Frame Size: 720 x 540
    Anamorphic: YES
Display Format: 16:9 Anamorphic (horizontally squeezed widescreen image)
Please feel free to ask for clarification or further information you need to answer my question.
Thank you so much in advance for your help!
    Best, Noetical.
BTW, I can't wait for the day when everything has gone digital and we get digital intermediates instead of tapes to digitize!

Hi Nick...thanks for taking the time to reply to my question.
    Nick Holmes wrote:
What you have there is a mess.
    NTSC pixels are never square.
NTSC is 720x486, even when it is Anamorphic.
You shouldn't be using an already letterboxed master to make an Anamorphic version. Get the master that was made before the letterboxing stage.
When you make an Anamorphic DVD it should display as 16:9 full screen automatically on widescreen TVs.
The same DVD will automatically letterbox on 4:3 TVs.
Um yeah...duh. That's exactly what I was trying to explain in the preface of my question. I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear...all these things you mention are the reasons I'm putting together a list of the technical specs of the DigiBeta I need so I can have them send that instead of the stupid letterboxed version.
Look, I'm sending this request to some intern at their offices in England, asking for a master with which I can make an Anamorphic DVD. They already sent me this master, which as you and I both agree is an idiotic asset to use for these purposes. As such, I was hoping for advice on a more precise way of requesting the master that I need than asking for "the master that was made before the letterboxing stage." Upon reflection, perhaps I'll just do that. If you or anyone else has a suggestion about something I should add to my request that would improve the odds of them sending the tape I need, please repond. Thank you!
BTW, It's been a long time since anyone has responded to something I've written or said as though I'm an idiot. I remember now that I don't really like it. (Moving along...)
